Does PvP split include WvW?
Nope.
WvW is typically lumped with PvE unless specified otherwise.
So adrenal health was untouched in the game mode where it was the strongest? I have no words.
Meanwhile, Adrenal health is untouched in WvW.
Side note, they nerfed Perplexity, so Scepter/warhorn condi necro is no longer good in WvW.
Imagine baseline venom share in WvW where it was already strong.
Why isn’t there a WvW split? I’m pretty sure we were balnced with PvE, which means warriors didn’t get any nerfs whatsoever in their godly marauder builds and basically everything else was nerfed.
And then there is this venom share. This is terrifying. 90% of roamers on yb run thief. They could chain venom stun somebody to death now without batting an eye.

It’s the same song in every server. Nobody like facing off vs siege. However, siege usage is a valid defensive strategy. There are times when a group should run out of the tower to fight the zerg and there are times when a group should fortify the tower/destroy enemy siege with siege.

This is why I don’t like playing my Reaper 1vX. Reaper is garbage in 1vX and not exactly fatal in XvX anymore either. I prefer my Scrapper that can escape a bad 1vX and deny bags to the five people trying to end me.

I only have 80 hours on scrapper, and I had no problems learning it, so I woukd say that it is not hard to pick up. Paladin Scrapper and the WvW stat equivalent is amazing in small scale fights.
Something like this as an outfit. Ironclad is alright for my scrapper’s cosplay, but this is perfect. Also, no boob plates, so yay logic!
1. No. There is no variety or competions in WvW. It’s about as competetive as three neighbor hood kids in a sandbox throwing sand at each other until two of them get sand in their eyes and run away crying.
2. Yes. I wish that people wanted to win for the sake of being strongest, but there is no balance, so strongest is simply best distributed.
3. They need to reset glicko and prevent glicko walls from creating permanent tiers. They could either put everyone in new servers and balance pairing on these less congested servers or reset glicko and increse matchup variety. The gap between the best and worst servers needs to be smaller so that matchups can have more variety.
4. Servers need to be balanced so that they cannot win/lose every time. Rankings are okay, but matchups that are 1, 2, 3/4, 5, 6/ect. Need to be mixed up better. 1, 3, 4/2, 6, 7/5, 9, 10 is an example of how the matchup can change to create variety. If server pairings are balanced well, this arrangement will not make as many one-sided matchups as it currently will.
Move out. BG is a problem. The solution is to leave BG. There are other servers that will benefit from you being there. Transferring 10 to bg at 1800 gems each is actually a lot more than transferring to a high server for 900 or a medium for 400.

EOTM is a long way from EBG quality.
-awful central objective
-fewer towers that are too isolated to do anything
-annoying objective buffs that make movement terrible
-no dolyaks or upgrades
-objective bosses are essentially PvE bosses
Except that vanilla WvW had its fair share of condi builds and blobbing too.
Engineer, mesmer and thief all had strong condi builds for roaming.Nowadays all I see while roaming are power builds.
Compared with vanilla the amount of condi builds I meet has actually decreased.I hope thass a joke…
Most common classes/builds I see roaming in order:
Warrior: Power a/sh gs Berserker or Rifle Berserker
Mesmer: Condi sc/sh Chronomancer
Thief: Power d/p Daredevil or Condi p/d
Engineer: Power hammer Scrapper
Revenant: Power sw/sh Herald
Elementalist: Power/Celestial d/f Tempest
Ranger: Power gs/staff or Power lb/staff Druid
Necromancer: Condi/Power Reaper
Guardian: Power lb Dragonhunter
Yes, there are a handful of other condi builds like condi engi, condi lb ranger, condi ele, condi warrior, and condi revenant; however, these builds are significantly less common than the ones I listed above them. I usually only see at most one person per matchup on those builds.
The most common condition builds do happen to be the among the more common enemies though. Most mesmers and about a fifth of thieves run condi in the matchups I’ve played. Despite this, the majority of foes I face are still runnig power. Best you can do is avoid them if you don’t counter them. If you want to counter them, Tempest totally lols against condi.
The fantastic four needs to move up asap. This stale matchup is going to make people abandon these servers.
The people in this alliance have a lot to learn about WvW, so we need to face opponents that can provide us a real challenge.
Superior Arrow carts are fine as is. They wreck point blank catapults, pressure flame rams, and deter players. However, regular arrow carts are completely useless. Too weak to pressure flame rams, destroy catapults in a timely manner, or deter players. They should be removed entirely, because they are a total waste of supply.
This could all be in guild hall upgrades. It’s not like people socialize much while crafting anyways. Crafting hub + black lion trading rep and “bam!” Problems solved. Rata Sum is the best free place to go as long as you don’t forget which way you need to go.
Also, you were scouting while crafting in the citadel? I’m not sure what you can scout from there lol.
Personally, I think they should carve little caves into the spawns of obsidian sanctum and make that into a hub. They could even turn the arena into a dueling mini game that prevents the increased traffic from ruining duels.
If they could find a good central objective for bl maps instead of making a terrible one and deactivating it/leaving it forever, I would be happy to see a new bl.
New map ideas in general:
Kaineng City: Urban battlefields are always very cool. This could be done in an ebg or bl style and still be awesome.
Volcanic: Like the fire keep but on a large scale. It could have an eruption event that occurs during prime time several times a week.
Jungle: I don’t like this because then our 3 bls will be eotm.
Cavern: this could be cool as long as it wasn’t too confusing or confined. Small tunnels for havocs and large main tunnels for zergs.
Server chat is a pretty sweet idea. Could get overrun tho.
Pretty sure if Angry Joe rereviewed gw2, he would give it a 5 or 6. That would be a crushing blow to gw2. BG is the only t1 server that has survived the top tier politics so far. It would be good if they dropped.
Of course, a fresh start would be ideal, because servers are largely held up by their names at this point.
While I do agree that WvW could use some changes to help encourage people to start playing this game mode, I am not sure the suggested changes would actually work.
In order to address the issue, and find out why more people aren’t jumping into WvW is to ask them.
Take me for example. I VERY RARELY play WvW.

1. The maps are too large.
If I jump into a map, and the zerg/blob is on the other side, and there are no WPs available (even when there ARE WPs available) I spent a min. of 5 minutes just running to catch up. However, if I happened to get ganked by a small roaming group, I need to do that same run AGAIN. By then, the zerg is in a totally different area, or even a different map. And it starts all over again. Spending much of your time running from point A to B and hoping you don’t get killed is a MAJOR turn off.2. Endlessly flipping objectives
So I found a small group and we went into the enemies BL and started flipping camps. We’d flip and move on to the next. Right after RI expired camp would flip back. Rinse and repeat. It didn’t matter where we were, just endlessly flipping objectives only to hold them as long as RI lasted, then flipped back. It gets old quick.3. No reason to defend.
With a large zerg running around, there was no point in trying to defend. Most forts/camps were never upgraded because by the time it was able to upgraded, it would be flipped. Occasionally some would try to defend the keep or garrison, but it almost always proved useless.4. Not really able to solo
Sure one could solo (if they were good) but more often than not, you were just ran over by the train. So there really was no point.5. No real motivation to play
Sure they have reward tracks now (didn’t when I was trying to get into it), but you can do the same in PvP (which has a lot more action and is 10,000 times more fun). Other than playing to get the Badges of Honor for certain things, there really is no real point. No story to follow, no special rewards, no nothing really.6. Too expensive
In order to be half-way effective you need to buy a whole different set of gear, blue prints, food, etc. In order to get involved into the game mode I need to spend some gold? What? Sure you can use your PvE gear, but that generally tends to be berserkers and is difficult at best to play, or ineffective against more than one opponent.This of course is my perspective, but one has to ask, how many other people feel the same, or similar, when it comes to WvW? Address these, and other non-WvWers issues, and perhaps WvW might be able to be saved. I would love to get involved more, but these issues just kind of ruin the whole mode for me.
1. This is partially a matter of luck and partially a matter of awareness. Obstructing your nametag is often effective. I’ve hidden from zergs by standing under the bridge by anz and hiding behind the ramp in dredge on a Necro (Necro stealth op). I reccomend switching to a scout role when this happens. If you report enemies, the tag may come to you.
2. This is an actual flaw in the WvW system. Upgrades are slow and very powerful. Because of this, enemies will never allow a paper tower to upgrade. In ebg, it often comes down to who has the most upgraded objectives when prime time starts.
3. Same issue as #2. Defending a paper tower for 2 hours is a waste of time, because the tag won’t come unless it is upgraded.
4. With the right build, good PvPers can solo roam and win 1vX against lesser foes. It is sometimes fun, and you can solo flip camps, but this is a team game in an mmo, so taking a tower is always a group activity.
5. This is mostly an opinion, but because of glicko walls, there is no competitive aspect to WvW. Crystal Desert beats t4 by a landslide? Too bad it will take 2 months for them to get into t3 over the great Glicko wall, and then another 2 months to get into t2. By then, matchups will change and knock it back down.
6. I agree. Commanders are essential, but they have to buy tons of siege, which is expensive. Roaming is fun, but you need a set of full ascended to make the most of your stats. If siege wasn’t so expensive, I would command in WvW, because I want to, but I need to get ascended gear and keep up with the meta on all of my specs, so I can’t spend 20g to fund an endless supply of superior flame rams and arrow carts.
Condi D/D is cheesy and spammy. It requires some good timing to make the best of it, however, it’s still pretty bad considering what else you can do (p/d). If death blossom was power based and evaded the full duration, d/d would be stronger. Dancing dagger should be replaced entirely because thieves don’t need to cripple enemies when they can teleport to them.
Herald circle is fun when you sit in a bush and glow, but it sucks because the music makes the ingame combat music seem fun. Seriously tho, the combat music is like elevator music in this game. Check out Two Steps from Hell if you want to hear what potential is being missed.
Stealth Gyro’s visibility is what prevents it from being op. If it were invisible, it would the best stealth skill by far.

D/D ele really is a shadow of its former self. Full melee, but not strong enough to go toe to toe with warrior. No anti projectile.
D/D has a terrible time approaching kiting builds. It has the worst gap closers in the game. Ride the Lightning requires a hit to have a reasonable cooldown (druid staff is better than rtl ever was on a 15s cooldown), it does not evade, it does not hit hard, it does not heal, to does not combo with fields, and it cannot go custom distances.
Magnetic leap is also awful, and personally, I think it should be replaced with a pull (not always reliable, but amazing while roaming in groups).
Something on offhand dagger needs to be buffed to deal with projectiles better. Evade on rtl would be great. Projectile destruction on ring of fire would be amazing.
At very least, improvements to rtl would make d/d more useful in WvW.

Want to advertise WvW?
Command on off hours for WvW until you know what you’re doing. People will follow you, and you will gain a positive reputation for doing well in important hours.
Start a guild. People kittenpect you may be willing to run with you if you command.
Start training pugs. This improves the quality of people on your server.
Now that you have a good following, tell people in your guild to invite their PvE/PvP friends to run with you. If they like it, they will come back.
This is how Dragonbrand’s Battleground Heroes [Hero] started way back when. That guild ran strong until its leader left the game.
Good leaders make WvW a better place. The only thing that I request from the devs is to cut the price of superior siege (regular ac is trash, and superior flame rams are a must vs non-paper gates). Being a regular commander is very expensive, and relying on donations is not reliable or appropriate.
This is ironic because so many ppl in WvW are basically immune to my druid’s immobilize.
WvW is not PvE. Not even a little. All classes need their effectiveness to be considered for both large and small scale combat. They do not need to do both at the same time.
WvW is also not PvP. It has stat combinations like dire that burst and tank simultaneously alongside mobile and/or stealth builds that aren’t made useless by the existence of capture points exist.
I am asking if the split applies to WvW too.

I tried an exotic variant of the op’s build in WvW. It’s really fun and effective as long as you aren’t being focused by thieves and mesmers.
However, I cannot figure out how to fight against s/f fresh air eles. My opposing server has a guild with 4 of them, and they face roll me.
This build would be amazing if sharpened edges had a more reasonable cooldown (45 untraited!??). Way better vs thieves and warriors 1v1 than full zerk.S/f is my white whale. Haven’t fought one yet as druid. Atleas not one that I recognized as one before mowing them down. Couple years ago when I started playing lb ranger there was one I think on SBI [CAT] that I called dragon head because of their choice of head gear, but ya they were unkillable and did a million dmg, perhaps upto 2 million.
That’s fortunate. At least vs d/f, kiting means not dying, but the s/f ele runs you down and kills you while invuln.

That is something that they need to look into again. It is poor that they cannot manage bugs on their own forum.
The most OP I have ever seen from stealth was recently when a trapper condi thief had what basically amounts to permanent stealth. He downed me twice before finally killing me with just condi traps, and he never once came out of stealth before or after the engagement (a period of about 3-4 minutes), even to do the killing blow warstomp. I was basically fighting a ghost. This really should not be possible… my reaper has over 2.6k armor and over 21k hp.
Condi ghost thief is literally powerless if you cleanse and walk away. Not that the permastealth netted by doing 4 hs through bp and laying down traps isn’t broken.
The issue with stealth is mobility in stealth. Mesmer can stealth, run past you, and teleport out of combat. Same with thief. Ranger stealth is far more limited, but you can’t hit them while they cover 2400 distance with gs and staff 3. Engi stealth is the weakest because they have a gyro following them, so they can’t reposition as much.
If stealth were unable to confuse the opponent, it would be borderline useless. However, it is annoying that these classes can dissapear for 3 seconds and then reappear on the horizon and out of combat.
The search option for the forums has been broken for as long as I can remember. This really ought to be fixed. It is inexcusable for a website with as much traffic as this one to have a broken search bar for so many years.
If reasoning is necessary, it will decrease the number of people who make repeat threads because the original thread sank to the next page.
PvP or WvW?
If WvW, run minstrel. You will be unkillable, provide perma regen and swiftness to your party, and your pet can be specced to do tons of damage while you support and tank.
I don’t really disagree with anything here. There are a few other utilities that could use cd reductions. However, I would stay far away from things that make mintrel gd/staff beastmaster druid better. My friend ran that lat night. All he had to do was kite, heal, and watch his pet kill things. He only died once in a 6 hour session and secured many kills in the middle of focus fire.

Everytime I go into WvW I see the major skill gap. Maybe I need to find these t1 servers because I am always skeptical on non-PvP main players. But I have been proven wrong before.
I just went from a t1 matchup to t4 because I moved to et. I can attest that there is a much larger number of players on the low end of quality in t4
Personally, I don’t like PvP because it revolves around fighting on a point.

Function gyro res is awful in PvP/WvW. My target is usually dead by the time the function gyro heals anything. I would like this to be faster so that it has real use.
In WvW, a power warrior that rotates through invulns and blocks correctly is like fighting a dire perplexity mesmer. Unpleasant. I roam with somebody who plays a/sh gs warrior, and it took a burst s/f ele and a thief 10 minutes to kill her in a 2v1. The ele, at least, was good as well, because it was also very hard to kill when it was outnumbered (I was playing a kiting ranger, so it countered me, but my thief and warrior allies still had some trouble bringing it down).

I’m not sure this is a good idea… what about Carrion amulet then? I wouldn’t be able to crit with it as is.
So it’s a useless stat combo should this be implemented.
So every statcombo that has condi-damage but not precision is bad.Don’t get me wrong, i see your point and there should be something done about it all but still, this seems a bit… dunno… not thought through.
Carrion will most likely be less effective in pvp. It will do sustained power damage with no crits and sustained condi damage with less of the super strong stuff. Carrion was a lot less popular when trait lines like curses that needed crits held the condi meta. It isn’t necessarily bad if it falls out of the meta with a bunch of condi burst builds that use it.
A big part of this change is to make dire builds less cheesy in WvW. Getting killed by condis in 3 seconds by a build that has tons of vitality and toughness is disgusting.
It also makes rabid more useful, because the precision will no longer be an extraneous stat.
I’m not sure how much impact moving the big hits of condi damage to precison will have in spvp where many condi amulets also have precision, but this will do a lot of good things for small scale WvW where Dire is the focal point of several of the cheesiest builds.
