This game has far less loot than all of my other MMOs. So, no, I don’t have any trouble opening what little loot I get around here.
Apple store? You can get GW2 game skins from Apple?
Also, does it always follow that if China gets something, we automatically do, too?
This game may feel grindier since WoW has so much more content to choose from if you’re new to the game.
Also, whether you feel this way depends on your playstyle and preferences. GW2 feels really different from a lot of other games.
For me, a lot of things in this game are grindier than some other games. The crafting, for instance, feels a lot grindier here to me than LOTRO’s (another game I play) because of the sheer volume of mats I need to craft here.
I think what the OP is suggesting is that GW2 used to be something wonderful – a game full of exploration, party-on-the-fly-with-others to over come challenges and wondering what lies over the horizon.
Now, it’s just another, “Grind X-number of hours for +1 Charisma” game.
Masteries, Legendaries and <<chortle, chortle>> “Elite Traits” are only fractionally better than Exotics, that you can buy on the TP for next to nothing. A good player needs nothing more than Exotics.
All else is Vanity (….or Delusion).
You must be playing a different game, because the new zone is the way you said. There’s very slight leveling of the first three masteries afterwhich everyone is pretty much together. Much like when you were level 50 at launch and someone was level 20. You had to stay in a lower level area, because they were too low. It’s not really different.
You’ve just not remembering correctly. Plenty of fun exploration going on.
I have everything except one bugged Hero Point unlocked in the first map and my Elite is also unlocked. (By the way, I have 4,600 hours in the game).
In order to further my Masteries, I have to keep repeating the same events.
Is this not the case? I’m not being snarky in this post (like I was in the prior one). If you have some advice that will allow me to avoid this repetition, please give it.
When it comes to leveling masteries in the Maguuma line, I don’t know how you would ever accomplish it without repeating the same DEs over and over again. I mean, what else are you gonna do? There’s only 4 maps.
If the definition of grind is repeating the same actions over and over…yeah.
If people are losing days of work in the HoT maps, then yeah, this is a very big problem!
For some people, those maps are challenging and redoing what they’ve done would be really discouraging.
It’s a good thing that I think both armor sets are ugly or I might be disappointed in the long acquisition, too.
But it also wouldn’t bother me any if players had a choice each time a piece of armor came up in the achievement reward lineup.
Choices are always good, and as you say, it would change nothing important about the overall system.
This happens to me when I’m looking for a specific map. It usually takes a few times to actually get what I’m looking for. And yeah, this is annoying when it happens.
I currently have 11 characters. One of each profession and then an extra necro and revenant. I have 14 slots. I use the extra for key farming now and again.
P.S. Would decorating more than just a few small “islands” in L.A. really be that hard to do?
Township really goes all out for Halloween.
Just sayin’.
I do wish I could die my underwear something nicer than that hideous yellow color on humans.
The trick-or-treat bags sell for a good price, so if you farm the labyrinth for them, you can make a good amount of money.
So this legendary precursor absolutely cannot be made by people that aren’t in guilds or are in guilds but with no guild hall.
Is this correct?
I don’t understand. Why would they remove Empyreal Fragment drops from content that previously had them?
You do get a lot of them. I have like 178 of them or thereabouts. I can’t seem to use them all or even get the numbers down much. I’d have to stop doing events and just run around looking for airship cargo, but I avoid “running around” the jungle as much as possible.
If I want Empyreal Fragments, I used to get them from SW chests (which you’ve already covered) and WvW. I got a lot of them running the EOTM train and I get them when I run with zergs in regular WvW, too.
PvE, I don’t know where else to get them.
I’ve just decided to enforce a limit on how many times I’m going to grind this repeat content so as not to frustrate myself.
Some are more fun than others to me. Some are difficult to the point, I just don’t need the aggravation.
I also don’t like that they’re not available at night.
Yes the items for the collection can be RNG, but not the final reward.
But if the items in a collection that are necessary for the final reward are based on RNG, how is the final reward not affected by RNG by extension?
If you can’t get an item in a collection due to RNG, then logically, you won’t be getting the precursor ultimately because of RNG.
This distinction isn’t very useful then.
You can call the people that are against your opinions white knights
I never did this.
I know all the white knights just respond to this with “50/20/10 people don’t deserve to be a guild” or “work longer, stupid” but it’s still a really disparate goal for both group sizes.
Ermm….so what this white knights refer to?
The white knights I’m referring to are the people I’ve encountered on the forum that agree with all of the game’s decisions no matter what the discussion is about. Whether it’s a reasonable suggestion/request/critique or not, they defend the game. Several notable ones also call me names. Those are the people and attitudes I referenced. It has nothing to do with a difference of opinion.
I love the personal story, but I did enjoy it more when I received loot from the mobs in them.
Loot is fun. shrugs

In short, they culled mobs but made them stronger.
That’s interesting. I never noticed anything after the original nerf. shrugs

If they continue adding jungle-specific mastery points to the game, then I wouldn’t really need silver and gold in all or most of these in order to someday max out more of the Maguuma masteries.
Not trying to be offensive here I swear… but a ten man isn’t a guild.
The thing is, GW2 says that it is. Any number that they allow to make a guild and name it and have access to the guild panel, etc, is by definition, a guild.
What I don’t get is why they allow the confusion of making a small guild but then don’t tailor much of their guild-focused gameplay to include the small ones. It would have been better, imo, if they had set a minimum guild number and then included that number in their guild content percentages.
I mean, it just stands to reason that something that is meant to be challenging for 500 people all working in tandem for say, 9 months, to achieve is going to be an unreasonable hardship for 10 people or 50 people.
I know all the white knights just respond to this with “50/20/10 people don’t deserve to be a guild” or “work longer, stupid” but it’s still a really disparate goal for both group sizes.
Yes this will come right after rangers can name all their pets and it will be remembered
So wish that would happen, too.
I mean, older games do this.
And on LOTRO, another old game, I can have 6 outfits all ready to go and dyed at the same time.
Never played that game. How many colors did you have available to use? Since this game has over 400 different colors that might be a factor in whether or not it’s easy to set up a system to remember all the possibilities.
LOTRO doesn’t have near the dye colors GW2 does, so yeah, it would take more to do this. Still, even having a queue of different outfits, dyed or not, rather than just one would be nice.
Someone else on another thread recently said that the reward isn’t a given. It’s just a chance that it will drop.
I haven’t really done anything with this yet, so not sure personally.

I disagree with Chillbox 100%. If you cannot figure out how to dye armour then you should just not bother.
Okay, let me explain all this to you.
First of all, we’re talking about dying outfits not armor. There is a difference.
Second of all, we’re not talking about not knowing how to dye something but rather saving the dye jobs for each individual outfit.
Let me give you a simple comparison. People have been asking for the ability to save builds. If I had gone into that thread and told them that if they can’t figure out how to create a build then they should not bother, they would have said I was an idiot.
Same thing. It’s not that they don’t know HOW to make a build, it’s just tedious to switch them and redo them all the time.
If you are being sarcastic, then please disregard the above.
Thank you.
Let no one forgot Orr when the game first released <3
And yet they made it easier.
My gosh.
The elitists must have been foaming at the mouth and threatening legal action.
At the end, your leftover unused influence will be less than 100.
So, there’s no way to use up the last less than 100? Ugh! That is so messy! There should be a way to zero it so it’s nice and clean.
Some people.

Maybe they could award 1 MP for bronze, 2 for silver, and 3 for gold. That way everyone gets rewarded and people that get gold get more MP. Also, they could add a really nice chest or something for gold.
Hilarious.
I’d love it if each individual outfit dye job was “remembered” when you switched around outfits. It can be tedious to re-dye every time you switch around.
TBH, I hate toys. They take up space in my vault instead of going into my wardrobe or into a collection slot.
I wouldn’t be upset if they lowered the price of outfits, but I do like them. I like the way some of them look and they’re easy to switch around when I get bored. Plus, they’re free of transmutation charges.
I think some of them are ugly, of course. There’s only 11-12 that I’ve bought in 3 years’ time.
What I don’t get is all the RNG involved in crafting a precursor when supposedly the whole point of it was to eliminate RNG. That makes no logical sense, and yet it’s the reality of the beast.
People are always screaming that crafting precursors isn’t supposed to cost less than buying one, but they claim in the same spittled breath that it’s to eliminate RNG.
Except that it doesn’t…

Some group of mini dinosaurs: dead.
I’m totally with you on this. I hate those pocket dinosaurs. You can’t hardly outrun them, either. They seem to be everywhere in Auric Basin.
1) Learn to dodge when they attack
2) Avoid them
3) Kill themYou’re not supposed to outrun them or tank them.
It’s what make them a threat. They’re not decorations. You can easily use up your 2 dodges and still die, depending on the number on you at the time. Avoiding them is not always possible in some of the narrower passageways. Really, the easiest way for me to deal with them is to AOE them down.
Full on attack them.. They have like 2 hp each. Heal when your hp hits Hal or you will die, and do aoes. You sound like that person in the scary movies that just runs instead of punching the villain.
This makes no sense. I just got done writing that I kill them.
I’m giving it a 4-5, but that’s obviously after only playing it for around 2 weeks.
I might feel differently at a month or 3 months.
Especially if the maps all die and there’s no one to get things done with overall.

Anet made the challenging content statement as part of the core announcement of HoT. Anyone who paid any attention would have realized the game would be harder, and end game content.
It was said numerous times in numerous interviews.
This is from the HoT website:
“The jungle represents a challenge for you to overcome. Creatures within it use our new advanced AI, making the fights you encounter harder, giving you the opportunity to work with your friends and put your abilities to the test in battling Mordremoth’s forces and the deadly inhabitants of the jungle. As you progress your Masteries, you’ll find new ways to move through the map and unlock areas you couldn’t reach previously, as well as new ways to overcome your foes.”
Saying that people are victims of making assumptions because they didn’t even do basic research is pretty silly if you ask me.
This is still a very vague explanation on which to base a purchase or a decision. “Challenging content” doesn’t necessarily mean you’d automatically assume certain things would be changed from what came before or be so challenging you wouldn’t want to buy it at all. So, it’s also kind of stupid to expect people to have known just from this that it would or wouldn’t be content they’d overall like.
Pre-purchases could have been avoided and that would have helped, but more detail ahead of time would also have been nice.
I’m in a 140 person guild… so not large by any means. Any given night we have 20-40 regularly active players. We claimed Guilded Hollow our first attempt a day after launch. We were one of the first few in the world to get our pvp vendor up. We were the first on our server to get our arena up…
It’s not about how big your guild is. It’s about the type of people you recruit and the in guild atmosphere you foster…
To be fair, 140 people, for many guilds, IS a large guild. Sure, 20 people can claim a guild hall easy, but we already know that.
I wish you were right and it truly wasn’t about how big my guild is, but for a lot of the guild content in this game, it simply is.
JPs are definitely not my favorite content, though I’ve completed a lot of them in 3 years’ time. The most annoying ones, for me, are the ones I repeat due to map completions. The JP in VB is really annoying me right now in particular.
The public has a short, short memory.
Depends on the subject matter. Sometimes the public has a long memory. They don’t like it when that happens, either.
“People want everything for free” is what people say in every thread about acquisitions when they haven’t got anything intelligent to say and just want to be generally insulting in order to feel superior.
So stop complaining.
And everyone is going to obey you without question just because…you say so…?
Riiight.
funny how people want hard content then are so very quick to want it nerfed to the floor.
This makes zero sense. The people that asked for challenging content aren’t the ones wanting it to be iterated…
I don’t understand a single word from any of the comments in this thread or what is the focus topic here…
Are people talking about grinding or Chinese people or…But I will just say, I love the gliding in HoT.
The gliding is super fun.
How is everyone leveling their Maguuma masteries these days?
All I know to do is just keep repeating the same events. I don’t get much XP from killing individual mobs, so I do the events. Since I don’t have all the mobile masteries unlocked yet, I’m limited in the events I can actually reach.
Hero challenges should never be forced group content, you need them for elite specs and map completion. Requiring you to depend on the whims of other players to do something that the rest of the game let you do by yourself is bad game design.
See, that’s the thing. Hero Challenges have always been soloable. There’s plenty of group content on each map that it wouldn’t matter really if the map completion items were soloable.

some people really shouldnt be allowed to play games online or use forums to cry around
I don’t get why everyone that has a different opinion than you is a crybaby…but whatever…
People will just use this as a scam. I wouldn’t trust anyone to actually turn over anything once I’d paid them the gold. They’ll just kick me out, keep the money, and sell the thing all over again.
Rinse and repeat.
fine…..I just suck…and everyone else had no bother with it……………………………….
Nah, there are plenty of people I’ve talked to that have found several of the LS2 instances either frustrating or annoying. This series of encounters felt very different to me than the personal story, a part of the game I’ve really enjoyed.
Personally, I think the challenging achievements would have been enough difficulty and they could have made the first playthrough a tad easier. I like to focus more on the story unfolding and less on the mechanics of surviving, but that’s me.
I found the shadow dragon fight in the Grove really hard on several of my characters (my necro finished it completely naked), Glint’s cave was pretty challenging, but mostly it was just soooo long, and I had some trouble with the centaur fight and the final dragon minion fight.
I finally got through it, but I’m a bit worried how hard HoT’s story is going to be.
