I would like that, though I’m sure it would need to be limited to “Server name- player rank”, to remain consistent with WvW anonymity. But it would be nice if you could see your server deaths/kills (in an optional feed, if needed). This would help people better identify where the action is.

Maybe, but I doubt it will come from solely working on things like: reworking leaderboard/matchmaking formula every month, custom arenas, and spectator mode (beneficial only to twitch watchers) — as they have been doing. The blog post coming Monday will be very important.

Ranking up to 3000 and increasing your WvW-related effectiveness with the wxp points earned sounds more like vertical progression to me, or was there something I missed? (assuming this will continue to use the existing power-creep system of wxp ‘skills/traits’)
It is definitely better that it be account-bound than character bound though.

What is there to understand? A player invests heavily into the tanking/condition tree, and, behold, they are tanking and applying conditions. It is decent, but many players are capable of removing the burn/bleed well enough (if the bleed even hits). Furthermore, the video was edited, only showing short clips on each map and mostly fighting against less than competent opponents. This type of build is fine, but don’t get too excited.

+Remove restrictions keeping influence/bank tied to home servers.
+Institute an alliance system of some sort.
+More opportunities for smaller guilds to gain influence and enjoy the ‘guild activities’.
+Add guild capes or tabard. All the current options are bad and nothing compared to Gw1. In GW1 I could identify many guilds just by seeing their cape, here I don’t know what the emblem looks like for any guild on my server, in spvp, or anywhere.
+Fun things to spend influence on rather than stat boosts (currently favoring zerg guilds that can keep these running 24/7).
+Some way for guilds to compete on leaderboard (again, preferably in some way not favoring zerg guild, but something where a tight group could excel).

Even on heavily populated servers, many maps are simply completely barren. This is because the game lacks an underflow system that merges loosely populated maps between servers, which would solve the problem across the board. But its not likely that Anet would ever do this because people would be upset about not being able to contribute guild influence while in underflow even if the game would be alot more fun, and seem alot less barren overall.
No matter how big your server is, the game world is just too large to fill out with people.
Hmm maybe. Guild influence really should not be tied to any home server though. What exactly is the point of it being this way? Guild system needs alot of work.

Top stat Glorypoints/rankpoints are just an insult! How about increasing those to 100+ each? Maybe then ppl would start rezzing in hotjoin.
The problem is they are still not really rewarding efforts that contribute the most to the win. The most common top stats (captures and kills) are often acquired by zerging and multi-capping uncontested points. This also leads to the highest “personal score”, which really doesn’t seem relevant in the new system, but ofc people still aim for it. The system still needs alot of revision…
I do appreciate rezzers though.

In Gw1 pvp, ele was probably the easiest thing to play (at least after revamp and buff to things like aura of restoration/reducing attunement cast time, etc). Alot of the gameplay for ele (at the most basic level) involved simply spamming tab/spacebar/target and spamming damage rotation. For years it was common to see teams of 3-4 eles (in 4 person pvp) or 6-8 eles (in 8 person pvp) just abusing some spammable damage or “1…2…3…spike” build. Ele is a lot more challenging here, though not as hard as people make it seem.

It is understandable that people want to speed through these things as fast as possible for the most efficient profit or other outcomes. But I think it is a shameful waste of content and gameplay mechanics when the playerbase is allowed to boil everything down to: stack together, terrain exploit/obstruction, spam aoe. But as I mentioned, people can be reasonably expected to do this because it is efficient. I wouldn’t be too optimistic about things changing, as GW1 pve was very much exploited too.
@people saying content cannot be cleared without these tactics. That might be true for higher level fractals, but it is not true for everything else.

No. She bugs on Flooded Temple too. I was doing the dungeon last night and we killed everything in the dungeon along her path leading up to that area (we did this before it even bugged). Then tried getting her killed several times, running her around ‘her spot’ to start event, exiting/re entering, killing more mobs not on the path up to that point, etc, and she continues to bug.
I don’t like skipping mobs or exploiting, if that was the only problem I wouldn’t have a right to complain.

Fix this NPC! According to wiki, she has been bugged since September 2012 (OVER A YEAR!!!!). I have been in so many p2 groups that have needed to give up just because this NPC has been broken and stopped progress on the dungeon. Your company should be absolutely embarrassed that this problem continues unresolved for nearly 13 months now, even more so considering this is one of the first possible explorable paths that a player can experience.

Seems more reasonable than what we have now.
I might lose rank because I have done mostly hotjoins (no skyhammer exploiting…), but I would feel much better about the system if it were changed in this way. The proposal seems simple enough that one can pretty much calculate their “new rank” just by adding up some numbers on their pvp menu. Damage control has been needed for the skyhammer farming debacle, and this is probably the best we can get (aside from much deserved bans, which would probably not be accurately given out…).

This would be very good for the game. Was going to say, GW1 had deathmatch arena before WoW, but I do think an arena mode here would play more like WoW than gw1.
Critics might worry about the fact that there are no dedicated healers in this game, or that the damage is (sort of) out of control here and kills can happen very fast. But in my brief WoW experience (AND in Gw1 arena) I do remember many interesting fights where neither team had a dedicated healer. Regardless, I think it is worth Arenanet trying this (and other modes…Heroes’ Ascent and so on).

From the October 15th update: “Signets: Signet passive buffs are now properly applied upon entering a PvP map.”
This is not the case at all. It still behaves like before, needing to be activated or re-equipped in order to work (or water entry on Capricorn). This is quite annoying for signets and guardian virtues.

The thing about Lightning surge that bothers me the most is its recharge.

Months of careful analysis are needed to see how the meta develops with the “improved tooltips”. Additionally, Arenanet would like more time for their warrior scheme to come to full fruition. 2+ months is reasonable for balancing a game which is “sort of like doing rocket science”. Nevermind that Guild Wars 1 received much more frequent balance updates for years up until its very end due to the ‘shift in resources’ to Guild Wars 2. Surely you must realize that it would be a great inconvenience to the player population if game updates were made more frequently, as then people would need to restart their game.

I think staff feels very good now. The problem is, it is still hard to compete with the power creep on warrior and others.
Edit: Haven’t been doing WvW lately, but I am afraid the Unsteady Ground change will make staff eles very overpowered in big fights.
Why don’t you see people complaining about Line of Warding from guardians then?
Staff eles also have Static Field, Frozen Ground, and the ability to keep 100% of their damage potential from 1200 range (disregarding the fact that our projectile auto attacks are slow and mostly miss from 1200 range…) Don’t get me wrong though, I am obsessed with this new Unsteady Ground. Just saying it might be ridiculous when they start popping up all over in WvW in addition to the other control/damage staff ele already brings to zerg.

I liked that tool as well. Unfortunately, many people (including myself) gave limited or rushed feedback at the time because it was Beta and we were just rushing to play the game with the limited time we were given.
Not sure they would consider implementing it again because they would need to hire more employees to sort through the feedback…

Really would be nice to actually ‘block’ with the shield (not counting the few projectiles we can absorb currently). Shield of absorption’s AoE knockback has always been nice, but beyond that the weapon is very lame. Even Conjure Earth shield is becoming more of a shield next patch (improved attacks, a block, invuln on shorter cooldown…)
Time to revisit the guardian shield and give it some aesthetic redesign. The most obvious place to start is the #4 shield of judgment. Protection is always a nice boon to have , but simply having prot and the small dd component is not enough for this lame skill.

Good points all. As we realize, there are alot of things to consider in making such changes. But, we aren’t the ones being paid to work on and improve ‘the fastest selling mmorpg of all time’. There is so much more potential for gw2 and wvw, it is up to ArenaNet to rise to the challenge.

Before we all get too excited about the upcoming buffs for conjure weapons, I must ask that this be given some attention and hopefully fixed for October 15th. This bug applies to the conjure spells for Flame Axe, Frost Bow and Lightning Hammer.
If the Elementalist begins to cast the conjure spell and then: dodges, cancels (escape key or sheathe weapon key, etc), or is interrupted by regular means (presumably), the conjure spell will then go on cooldown for 1 minute, and no conjured weapons will appear, in either the caster’s hands or on the ground. Again, this only seems to apply to Flame axe, frost bow, and lightning hammer. Earth shield and Fiery greatsword seem to function properly.

Agreed, I suggested something similar around release. Structuring around servers has shown to be flawed. WvW could do better if centered around factions, or some other determinant. Though WvW is fun, it has been going for 1 year and is still determined by population imbalances and 24/7 coverage. Plus, there is still no point to winning (ok maybe leagues will fix this….)
Do away with servers and overflows, reintroduce districts, restructure WvW team composition, make guild tied to region (or global) = gg the game is now more like gw1.
But of course Arenanet has been making $$$ off of server transfers.

Staff ele is still my favorite hotjoin character, and I have used staff for the great majority of my ~2050 matches played with ele. Will do tournaments again when the game is more balanced. Though I think I could do pretty well right now, it is just not worth it to exert 10x the effort as an ele to compete against the faceroll builds in tournament scenario.

Seems like it will be less healing for eles that were spamming spells? The 8 sec protection is huge though…until stolen by thief spamming boon steal.

As mentioned above, we already have temples, world bosses, tequatl, wvw tower/keep/castle raids, etc. I think more open world ‘raiding’ like this is the way to go. But, they should try to design so that the content isn’t easily completed by just bringing more people in and spamming DPS. (…I don’t think the new timers on world bosses are a good decision either)

Didn’t read the “leak” itself, but I am very worried that unsteady ground will become quite overpowered if it is changed to be like line of warding. The skill definitely needed a buff though.
