The movement speed increase Segil, is that only out of combat or also in combat?
Necro has but one build right now and that is condition everything else falls way behind. You can though have other builds if you want to be a tank sure, but as DPS its all about conditions.
GS is not a ranged weapon, do not fool your self.
GS is all about Might and Vulnerability stacking, without that GS is lackluster and low performing.
To get Might you need to be just about in melee range.
So, GS is not a ranged weapon because when you have Might and Vulnerability stacked you do more damage at close range then without them at long range.
Kiting 3-5 mobs at the same time is easy as a Necro or P/D Thief, can a Ranger do it? If so how?
As I look through my Thief Weapon abilities I notice 3 abilities under the Light condition which I have not unlocked. To my complete shock what that means is and empty off hand!
Can some one please explain to me why design anything like that? Do we have traits to buff ‘Off-Hand Light’ in any way or form? No of course not? Do we lose stats and damage by doing so? Yes of course.
So I gave game designers the benefit of the doubt and looked at these abilities assuming they are powerful enough to make up for the loss of damage, utility and stats, I couldn’t find those benefits.
Any insight?
P/D is a PvE powerhouse, use the dagger throw to snare -it snares any target near your target in a 360 degree angle- and then just auto shoot….That’s it! Initiative is only used for dagger throw.
Kill time is excellent!
after hitting 80, what changes? Rifle is viable then for Orr and dungeons? Why?
Any one else thinks Rifle solo questing kill speed is too low?
I tested it out with my Necro and Warrior both about 60 in the same area, Necro kills faster! Both kite really well, just Necro kills faster both AE and single target.
Any thoughts?
After reaching 80 with one player and having many alts I now can say for certainty that ‘wolf’ type NPC’s hit far, faaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrr too hard. From personal story to mobs in the world, any and every wolf is OVER TUNED.
Bring there damage in line with other mobs.
Take a look at this build:
Blood is Power / Corrupt Boons take your pick!
In PvP as a Mesmer you can play with 9xx Toughness if you know what you are doing.
Look at this ‘naked’ Mesmer how he does it with 9xx Toughness when he has full armor on, its not even funny how fast a Guardian goes down.

I like it, its really nice. Please clarify your reasoning for for taking Enfeebling Blood over 20% longer bleed duration.
Inflict weakness and bleeding on foes in the target area.
Enfeebling Blood:
Damage: Damage: 168
x1 Weakness: Weakness: 10 s
x2 Bleeding: 10 s (850 damage)
Radius Radius: 240
Range Range: 900
Radius of 240, you literally need to be on top of the player and Weakness you can add with your current setup.
He may have had a build that looks like this:
By simply changing the neck to Soldier you get over 1700 Toughness but Mesmer does not need that much Toughness. I have seen Mesmer doing well with as low as 900 Toughness in PvP.
Looking at his video I think this is the build:
Any advice to a new ele on leveling build?
Current build:
GS / S+P
20 III (15% more dmg for Illusions)/ X (GS +50 Power)
15 II (Phanta Fury)
15 IV (3% less damage per Illusion)
15 II (Glamour skills CD reduction)
5
Eather / Blink / Null Field / Mirrored Feedback / Time Warp

Toughness : 1126
Attack : 3216
CritChance : 44.67
CritDamage : 47
Armor : 2046
HP : 20472
PvE. sPvP, wPvP is this a good condition amount? Setup?
OP Please share more, like your stats and build!!!
When you are leveling it does not really matter but since I play Condition -every other build is inferior- I stack condition damage on gear on other items.
I found that since mobs die so quickly it really does not matter as long as youre gear is updated every 10 levels.
Burst does not mean AE!
Staff for Necro is a means to an end as in Life Force and Marks that’s it! It will never be a ‘main’ weapon for any purpose.
Unfortunately right now any build other than Condition is inferior.
Once you learn how to play with a 1h sword you will see why its superior!
Please post your insight on the best uses of Mesmer weapons as explaining how and why you use weapon abilities in that order.
GS:
Spatial Surge (1) or Mind Stab (3)
Phantasmal Berserker (4) as the target approaches
Mirror Blade (2) when target is near enough so I make sure to get the 6 stacks of Might -killing time drops by half when you have Might+Vulnerability up on said target
(5) AE knock back
I realized that although GS does less damage (1) the closer the target, the closer the target the higher the chance of a full 6 stack of might and full stack of Vulnerability on the target which yields a net kill time of twice as fast as max distance.
Look at your utility ability categorization:
Corruption
Well
Minion
Spectral
Signet
Youre traits can buff any one of those, start there. Keep in mind that Wells are buffed by ‘Power.’
The best tanking spec you can do while PvE questing is updated gear. From 30 onwards buy new gear every 10 levels so 40, 50, 60, 70 then when you hit 80!
Its still very much needed in PvP even if it copies condition.
On these forums I have found 2 good videos of P/D and the other P/P. What amazes me is the Traits they use:
A) They work
B) They do not buff Condition Duration OR Pistol!
That is why I have failed at making Pistol work, I always began with putting 30 into Critical Strike which also buffs Condition and Pistol!
P/P in my opinion needs much more control and lower initiative costs for Unload.
Attack :2805
Toughness :1216
Attack :2805
ConditionDamage :1106
CritChance :4
CritDamage :0
HP : 19245
It seems he just uses Auto attack! He is very squishy and he fights lone players so I’d say a roamer solo player….If 2 players look your way you are dead.
Why do you play a Necro? What do you think of it? What do you like? What tips for quality of life do you have? What can I expect and what are my playstyle options?
I have played a necro since GW1 when I saw them summoning minions. I thought that was the coolest thing ever.
I think it has one of the steepest learning curves for most people, because it has an abnormal play style.
I like that it is different. You can have cute-fleshy sacs fight for you, you can crap conditions all over a group of people and watch them be offensively and defensively crippled as you finish them. It has a lot of variety and fun playstyles for me.
Tips for quality of life: look through your trait trees and abilities, and look for life siphoning, and life force. Life siphoning is like a constant health income, and life force grants you DS, which is a second health bar.
Expect a bit of work to find a good build and niche for yourself. Expect a lot of haters on the forums and some in game who don’t know what they are doing. As for builds, aim for: wells (AoE conditions/damage), DS abuse (jumping in and out of DS often, abusing that second health bar for survivability), condition-damage (lots of bleeds/poisons), condition-spread (vulnerability, weakness, cripple, chill, plus damaging conditions, spread through AoE attacks), straight damage (axe/dagger main hand), and minions (managing undead minions for damage/survivability).
I’d also suggest to not listen to a lot on these forums. You will find a ton of complaining, and not much of help to you; in game wait until you see a necro who seems to be doing well, and then ask for tips.
Are you talking about the infamous 30/30/30/30/30 build? Yah it rocks!
Its always a good idea under ‘Show More’ list the Music and link your build.
Whatever Minions ‘are’ what is available now on live just sucks because of response time to enter combat and switch target when I switch target, they are too slow.
He does half the damage and takes twice the damage naked!
Looking over the Traits I can’t help but wounder why do we not see a Mantra focused build?
For example:
Minion AI is terrible the Minions are slow to react and often simply stand there especially if the ground has any kind of elevation.
Elite Minion takes a while after combat ends to regenerate health and it has a ridiculous obsession with weapon racks, it will attack one and just ignore anything I do!
Playing as a Minion focused Necromancer yields worse results than playing other builds such as Condition focused Necromancer.
Minions needs to share stats with Master and have avoidance to AE damage.
Anything a MM Necro can do a non MM Necro can do better….
Not sure what your ‘conclusion’ has to do with my post, actually its neither here nor there. Name one other class ability -from any other class- that shouts focus fire me and cc me more than death Shroud and DS #4!
Could the visual affects of Death Shroud and DS #4 not be such a huge bulls sign for us? I understand it may be a ‘balance’ type of thing -I could be very wrong it may just be aesthetics- but what happens now is CC is pretty much saved against a Necromancer for DS and if the Necro was to use #4 inside Death Shroud its the mother of all bulls-eye signs!
it’s not a paladin bubble ability from WOW….
giving it to much power will be unfair…
look at this game play and you can see some good uses of DS and that it’s not the only way to keep ourselves alive
http://youtu.be/UxlC-zB2BHY
The guy in the video uses this build:
He has invested ZERO points in Soul Reaping (DS buffing Traits) he uses it for purely defensive purposes and it has no other function for him.
He has the 90sec CD Trait that fears when under CC but the CD is 90sec! Meaning for 90sec every time he uses DS any half descent team will CC him and seeing how he has 0 points in Soul Reaping he will lose all of his Life Force -as the pool is small and decay high- with in seconds.
I’m talking about making DS part of the player so when you go into DS it can be used as DPS!
In any case as it stands it seems to just about any one I talk to that DS is:
pop in
fear
hit 4
pop out
Look at your crit damage and consider that you will have -or can have- Fury up most of the time.
As a Rifle Warrior looking at Trait we can have Fury up near 100% of the time!
@ Barzah If you have above 900 Toughness then you have above 900 Toughness! Is that hard to grasp?
As a Rifle Warrior you really can’t take down people 1v1, at least competent players in PvP spec, but what you can and should do is be an aggressive point holder and a tenacious single target controller.
What use is this second health bar when you damage and utility withers away? The lower the Life Force the less damage you do -or at least below 50% Life Force.
Do I need to buff power for DS to have any meaningful damage output? What if I play Conditions? Is DS only a tool for a 1 sec fear -the 4 ability if you manage to get it off.
Look, unless you go all the way down the DS line to get the 3 sec stability you will be chain CC’d in DS against any one with half a brain.
Unless Anet literally spells it out for us I don’t see anything meaningful and of positive value happening here.
Why on earth would you walk into any content as a warrior with 900 toughness? Seriously that should be an auto kick out of the game!
Few classes/builds can run with low Toughness, Warrior is not one of them!
I just found out last night that they do not stack! You can have one or the other but not both!
Its an I WIN BUTTON on my Mesmer even if I am about to die if I get Moa on you and you can’t break it its over for you.
Death Shroud needs Life Force and Life Force decays at a faster rate when taking damage, I suggest this changes so that Life Force decay is no longer accelerated by damage taken. It may be an extreme suggestion so also consider lowering the decay rate when taking damage.
The class seems to have so many issues -bugs- and it seems DS is pivotal to class balance and it also seems the community is just not getting DS the way game designers intended.
My advice is pick 3 race zones and keep doing them while completing the entire map for the extra rewards and XP.
You will need to discoverer how you like to play this class, a good start is Scepter+Dagger Condition, another is Axe+Focus or Warhorne and Staff.
In any case I strongly advise you tp get intimate with Death Shroud and learn its uses. It certainly shines defensively but it also is a utility tool as well as an offensives tool.
Gain first hand experience with dagger siphon build, see if you like how much HP it siphons -I don’t.
See if you like Minion build -I don’t.
That leaves you with Power and Condition!
0
30 II (20% Bleed Duration) / VII (Corruption Skills 20% faster)/ XI (Condition by scepter 33% longer)
0
10 III (Leave Mark of Blood when dodge)
30 II (Life force drains 25% slower in DS)/ VI (DS pierces and causes vulnerability)/ XI (3sec stability when entering DS)
Power :916
Toughness :1610
ConditionDamage : 1451.8
CritChance : 53.95
CritDamage : 30
Armor : 2530
HP : 19372
Stats can dramatically change depending on the Trinkets used, one example is less Toughness but much more Power and HP.
The idea is maximize our dual HP bar advantage while keeping regeneration up via dodging and pressure with very high Condition damage which is also helped by keep Vulnerability up via DS.
You want to keep you Conditions+Vulnerability up on the target as much as possible.
Looking for feedback.
