I used to do CS for a large banking company in my area. We would occasionally have somebody call in & attempt to fraudulently gain control of a customers account. After the first attempt, notations would be made on the account to give the next CS rep a heads up. After the second attempt, the account would be marked as “Transfer to Fraud Dept Immediately” if the hacker called again and the account would be locked down. The customer would also be notified.
Long story short – At what point was Gaile notified and what, if any, actions were taken by your CS team to secure the account before it was compromised?
If this is how your CS team handles situations like this, then we have a problem.
Probably a few thousand problems.
Game companies are not banks. There isn’t the same amount of risk involved. But the world is changing as is the nature of online gaming and your suggestion is a good one for them to consider.
Rolling a t2 matchup =/= dropping to t2
One in the same. According to the leaderboards, BG is offically T2.
As for the current matchups and server linkings, when will we see a reset? I incorrectly assumed links were reset on a weekly basis. If they’re on a 2 month rotating basis, when does that end?
Not really the same if you consider distinguishing the match tier from the server size. BG is a T1-sized server in a T2 match. I understand “dropping to T2” as usually meaning the server doesn’t have the population and coverage for T1, which it still does. The leaderboard distinguishes this by ranking servers according to glicko and then listing the match it is in.
Server links change Aug 29th or something like that.
Good job, Pansu Senpai.
Any word on if Dragunknight is ever going to return? It’s always sad to watch a community fall apart because of the loss of a single commander.

I have I think 14 amulets that I received WvW infusions back for most of my rings and accessories already have WvW infusions in them. Thats 70 laurels which is not insignificant.
Basically if you attune and infuse all your rings then you can stick those extra infusions into them. Yea, it means playing some Fractals. Some won’t do it.
Those are for agony infusions only I think.
Nope. There is no longer any distinction, only infusions and enrichments.
See patch notes:
“Offensive, defensive, and agony infusions are now simply known as infusions, and any infusion can be slotted into any infusion slot.”

If you’re willing to put in some fractal time, you can now get rings with up to 3 wvw infusions, 3*2-1 = 5, or +25 additional stats you didn’t have before.
Or a badges or honor / proof of heroics to fractal relic exchange could be added and avoid doing fractals altogether, since you could then buy the items you need to infuse/attune rings instead.
I’m not willing to put in any fractal time at all.
/point@Anet
/facepalm
You’ll be missing out on the power creep then xD
Attuning a ring isn’t difficult and infusing one just got easier.
Or just make a -5% Damage taken from Guards, Lords, and Supervisors enrichment and dump the stat from WvW infusions.
A developer on reddit, when asked about the possibility of refunding laurels for WvW infusions: “No plans for that. Those infusions are still functional, even if they’re not meta, and refunding laurels is tricky because those can convert to gold.”
So… screw us, I guess.
The least they can do is allow WvW infusions to be tradable/transformable with the new infusion vendor in fractals.
I was using the WvW infusions in both PvE raids and fractals. I’m kind of afraid to see the damage that’s been done when I get back into the game.
When I get run over by a 30-man blob of red names spamming one and all repping ANet, then I’ll consider it being favoritism.
It is too bad the game doesn’t split out kills by who tagged whom. Assists would be great to see.
There’s this graphics bug occurring with regards to transforms where when your character leaves the transform, the transform model is stuck in place and still rendering while your own character model doesn’t show. It happens to me frequently when playing WvW on my nercro because of both death shroud and Lich elite usage.
You can see in this video how I get out of Lich, the Lich stays in place and character cannot be seen, then maybe 30s later the Lich finally disappears and my character appears again.
https://youtu.be/wGGCPSjRj70?t=291
(Note: account in this video is Aldar.6271)
But sometimes the transform never clears and the character stays permanently invisible until you swap maps. Additionally, loading time when waypointing in the current map suddenly get extremely long.

I thought it was maybe a problem with OBS and my stream settings (currently using NVENC to encode), but then last night I saw the same issue happen to another streamer:
https://secure.twitch.tv/blknovember/v/79679704?t=03h15m20s
He also had the extremely long map loading time bug occur to him. He doesn’t use OBS.
Running Win10 64-bit with 64-bit client. Nvidia 980. AMD 8350. I don’t have better hardware details to give right now, sorry.
Front/midline auramancer (tempest ele)
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Tempest_-_Midline_AuramancerThat build sucks.
About half the people I’ve talked to about it swear by it. The other half says the same as you. Half the people run staff. The other half run dagger/focus or dagger/warhorn.
Would also love to add:
Server chat (WvW) for cross map comms between a server, and to remove the floating text about objective flips, and place it there.
Out of all the zillions of threads with suggestions, these two are, and have been, at the top of my wish list right below lag.
Server chat was in the QoL part of the first poll. Scoring won.

Used to troll people in WvW with it.
Was this an item that came out of brainstorm sessions from the Adopt-a-Dev program by chance? You guys might as well try to bring back other PvE consumables to WvW like Gear, Golem in a Box, and Peg Leg.
REROLL REROLL!
Something seems broken for a fourth week with same matches even with the partial reset.
There was no partial reset. It will happen on the 29th.
I was referring to the partial reset of glicko volatility and deviation that was done when the new server links occurred.
REROLL REROLL!
Something seems broken for a fourth week with same matches even with the partial reset.
One of the bigger problems with 1-up-1-down is that at natural barriers, two teams would commonly swap week after week, leaving three teams (the one that went up, and the two that remained where it was) getting steamrolled every other week.
This, in my opinion, is a weak argument. The teams on the boundaries between tiers are there for a reason, so they should expect to win in the lower and lose in the upper. That’s exactly how it SHOULD work. Now if the jump at a single breakpoint is so severe that it ruins things for both tiers, then the problem isn’t with the matchmaking but with the servers themselves.
In my opinion, relegation / promotion is simply so superior to what we have now that I wish we already had it.
No, I don’t agree with that at all. In actuality those tier-edge servers should be in matches against each other. The problem also exists with glicko match-making when the ratings between servers are far enough apart.
The problem is people being unable to complete the simple task of telling others what channel they’re in. I don’t think there’s any way to safeguard against that.
Right. I don’t understand why it is more common to be quick to blame the guest than the people who have trouble saying what channel they are in. Simple tasks. If you really want people to join you in TS, do the work.
The YB of late is nowhere near what it was a year ago.
You can perhaps call my own personal experiences a lie, yet I question how much time you spent yourself playing both on and against YB.
(edited by Chaba.5410)
To help prevent stale matchups, we’ll soon be able to artificially adjust Glicko ratings solely for the purpose of matchmaking.
….
artificial matchmaking adjustment on July 29th.
Great news, but a part of me can’t help but think that July 29th is long in WvW-time.
Also, going forward it would be great if such large rating gaps are avoided in future server links where a server had a frozen rating. I’m wondering if you’ll be manually adjusting rating for server links or have found a way to merge ratings of hosted servers based on their contribution to their linked partner?
the difficulty of obtaining the gift of battle has nothing to do with how badly outnumbered your server may be. Take some camps, take some sentries, keep moving around taking more camps and sentries, all things that are super easy to capture solo, and even easier as a duo.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/WvW_Reward_Track
The wiki even shows that the Outnumbered buff increases the participation amount from capping camps and sentries by 50%. Outnumbered is life
The best bet for the OP might be to find someone, perhaps in his guild, to partner up with that has more experience in WvW and roaming to help flip camps and stuff.
Hey everyone,
I wanted to answer and clarify some of the questions and concerns I’ve seen in the thread so far.
1. What is meant by “standard majority” and “super majority”? When we say something is decided by a “standard majority”, we are saying that the winning choice is decided by a majority vote. When we say something is decided by a “super majority”, we are saying that the winning choice must have at least 75% of the votes.
2. Why is this vote using “standard majority”? This is because you are voting to add the hammers into the game as a trial to test and play with them. Then after folks have had time to play with and experience the hammers, and decide if they like or dislike them – we will hold a second poll for the hammers requesting a “super majority” vote to keep the hammers as a permanent aspect of WvW.
3. How will repair hammers work? The current design is that you will be able to purchase the repair hammer from the tricks and traps vendor. When you consume the hammer it will replace your weapon skills with 1 skill that allows you to repair any siege. If you drop the hammer or die you will need to consume another repair hammer to use the repair hammer skill.
4. Why aren’t repair hammers part of the repair master ability line? If this item is voted to be a permanent feature of the game it will be added to the repair master ability line as a final pip. However, for the trial (the current poll) it will not be part of the ability line because it becomes harder for us to disable the item if it is attached to an ability line, and we need to be able to disable anything easily that is in beta. Also, repair hammers will work with the current repair master ability line; so for example if you are maxed out on the ability line you can spend 10 supply at once repairing siege with the repair hammer.
5. How much development time is spent on repair hammers? I’ll start with some backstory on repair hammers; they have been nearly complete for a couple years now but we had decided to never add them in game due to not having a way to properly test their impact on live. Now that we can beta this change on live and can disable them if players are unhappy, we have decided to see if players would want to test them on a trial basis. For those concerned about how this impacts the development of content already voted upon, it is also important to understand that different people work on different aspects of the game. Currently it is mostly programmer work that is left for scoring and QoL, but repair hammer work is design work.
6. Will repair hammers work on golems? Repair Hammers do work on golems, but only when no one is inside of them.
Thank you for answering those questions.
Hey! I know! Why just stop at spamming siege and repairing it while hiding behind a structure!
We can build on this whole idea of winning the game without needing to fight at all!
Let’s introduce farms and medical centers! Some players would have to level Ag specialty and tend to the fields in order for other players to have access to food!
Other players would need to level up medicine as a craft while injured players would have to spend a set amount of time on injury leave! Be careful! Too many low level medic crafters and you’ve got gangrene or MRSA!
Maybe we could create an operations center where people could role play logistics, delivery and supply management! Better have Grand Master Administrators or your supply and map rewards just vanish into thin air!
Wait wait! I know! Hedge fund management! We could just outspend our enemies and impoverish them with unreasonable treaties!
These ideas keep rolling out guys!
-Or-
We could just try to keep this remotely a fight game instead of turning it into a tedious Siege/Supply/SabotageWarz.2
Who do I talk to for getting started on leveling Medicine? I’m looking to craft the new Prescription of Applied Vitality and Fortitude to min/max the dmg reduction in my build. I need level 400 to do so.
(Sorry, this is going a bit off topic for some light humor.) Anyway I think I’m going to abstain from this vote personally. I guess I don’t care either way.
Keep calm and vote no.
Please don’t vote yes on this if you have stipulations or some other ideas on how it should be implemented. Implementation is out of your control.
So you would rather not try it at all to even see the results or consequence? We always can vote it out on the final poll if they won’t change implementation.
Sure you can vote it out if it doesn’t meet your stipulations, assuming everyone else agrees with your stipulations and doesn’t vote to keep something you didn’t like instead.
Besides, if devs have such extra time to spend on something like this while doing the bigger scoring changes, I’d rather see developer time used on QoL improvements not new features. Like please fix it so commander tags don’t disappear behind ally health bars.
Please don’t vote yes on this if you have stipulations or some other ideas on how it should be implemented. Implementation is out of your control.
I don’t see why we can’t try this out… doesn’t seem like a terrible complicated item to create, as the poll also implies. So whatever happens with it, not much of anything is wasted either way.
Voting yes for now…
It sounds like it would be a Traps and Tricks consumable, which doesn’t seem particularly complicated to create. I’m not a fan of voting yes though on something just because it is easy to create. I’d rather devs spend development time on deeper issues related to how we play WvW as is. Like I’d rather see commander tag visibility improved rather than commander tags disappearing behind ally health bars and of course population and scoring issues.
With the new server linking I had hoped that host servers would be brought closer in Glicko rating to each other with the increased volatility. But it seems there wasn’t anything done to the two-month old frozen ratings when the new links were made and so now T4 seems stuck. CD certainly has gotten closer in rating to servers above it, but without rolling up, it is stuck.
I’m pretty surprised not one single match this week changed considering how varied matches were in the first time there was server linking and partial glicko reset.
You guys got this all wrong. Anet can’t predict when a server population is going to tank (YB) or transfer off or fairweather. You’re trying to ascribe to Anet something that is completely within the realm of players, guilds, and how well server communities organize themselves. Anet is making links only every two months based off that server’s data every two months.
But pugs don’t follow bad commanders.

Please no hurt me…
“the queen of FA” made the og thread lol
That’s why she’s the Queen. Bow down, copycats.
we got some shiny new fight guilds that just transferred and are looking to rumble. >;)
Yea FA got some guilds too. Ssssshhhh don’t tell anyone.
It is unfortunate that linked server players don’t show as their own server names in red.
Considering how fast it sold, you’re probably right.
Send me silver doubloons and molten lodestones, please.
Sorry. I’m merely a lowly WvW’er, not a TP flipper. I can’t afford those unless it’s Wednesday..
Bruh plz, look at your gold… You have more gold coins than I have ranks in WvW.
Same!
If you recall, that wasn’t just before stab was changed, it was from a time before stats were removed from traitlines, a time before everyone just used the same optimized weapon/armor stats per role rather than per class.
Think about that for a second. The stats were removed from traitlines in order to try to open up builds for each class. Instead players now just think, “I’m going to build for frontline so I need X gear” no matter the class.
Inactive accounts already are not counted for server population, haven’t been for almost a whole year now.
while this is true, BG got so large so fast because those inactives that ’didn’t count’ were still on BG when they came back from hiatus for the big patch. Granted it seems many have left again, but at some point maybe you should be no longer attached to a wvw server….
OR
Could be we wont ever see that sort of one off influx again so not a problem…
Oh I see. Yea that “potential population” is not something players/guilds looking to transfer or Anet’s server linking can realistically account for with regards to population balance. It is truly fairweather. Not sure about it though considering that it disappears again. WvW is very cyclical. Too many people seem to panic transfer just because of those fairweathers.

I’m liking FA for the past few months. Outnumbered for the most part versus JQ and YB but doing decent and good community so far.
Put it this way, zerg busting claiming guilds can test their skills here
You must not play in SEA timezone.
FA runs the biggest map blob during SEA with ND, CA and GK all running as one giant 3 headed monster.
I barely ever see YB, they keep their head down. I believe they are not playing this week to ensure they don’t move back to tier 1. I have no idea how big YB is until they come out and play in the next few weeks.
I have never seen FA being outnumbered by YB.
JQ always outnumbers FA when the 3 headed monster isn’t running.
In my opinion, if you want to bust blobs in SEA then JQ is your place – you get double or triple teamed by decent guilds that want fights and we have quite decent pugs.
YB may also be a good option but until I see what their SEA population is I wouldn’t commit to that. You don’t want to be a 15 man guild taking on ND+CA+GK without any pugs, you’ll just get steamrolled.
Is this guy serious? Comparing FA’s SEA, which is the single timezone FA has always traditionally been most short on, with JQ’s SEA, which is what JQ is known for… nevermind the fact that more than half the guilds he named are actually on SoR. SMH.
The golden truth Chaba comes through again, thanks for setting him straight
FA, outnumbered MAGIC FIND ALL DAY EVERY DAY BOOST BABY
So SOR isn’t paired with FA? There really isn’t a difference as to whether those guilds are on SOR or FA.
Here I’ll make it easy. GK is on FA. Everything else is SoR, since JQ fought them when the game said they were DB.

Zerg busting is still a thing.. just do it with boon share. 25v50 EzPz.
I will start streaming this nonsense meta and show how cancer it is… soon.. after I get my UD
Only hope it isn’t a video of 25 in squad surrounded by another 20 pugs against 40 and 10 minions/pets/clones.
Given the size of attacking blobs,I’d say AC damage is a bit low.
Counter-intuitively, the actual effect is the opposite. When AC damage was buffed a few years ago, blobs attacking defended keeps got bigger. Anytime something defensive is buffed, the offense side has to bring bigger numbers in order to be successful.
As for siege trolls, I was told that if players were building usesless siege just to aggravate other players we were supposed to report them for botting and a dev would come watch them and ban them if they found they were actually trolling. That is what we have been doing for years to address that issue.
If there’s going to be an appeal to tradition to argue for something, guess what else we’ve been doing for years. Playing WvW with siege and getting loot from it.
I’ve got a Guild Weapons Station sitting in my bank for about two years now. Do you want to use it to craft in WvW? It lasts a whole hour.
Most often what I’ve seen is people claiming to be doing zerg-busting like the old days are really running close to even numbers and seem to conveniently forget the pugs following their tag. Remember when old-school zerg-busting guilds didn’t run tags?! You don’t find that much anymore. That isn’t to say zerg-busting these days is not possible, only to say take the claim with a huge dose of salt.
You can’t even tag anymore without pugs, so all you can do is run tagless and target and stay away from main zones , but even then you have to keep moving or they will find you. HAHA
Apparently then your guild is not familiar with a pug slingshot (among other pug-discouragement techniques) or at least not interested in using the technique.
