This is so ON! NERF is coming together nicely. It sounds like we’ll field our first force this Sunday.

I didn’t bother to read about builds while leveling my Engie to 80. I think it is better to experiment because you will naturally gravitate towards your own personal playing style. Sometimes using another person’s build is difficult without knowing how they actually play that build. Now that I’ve been playing such a long time with my Engie, it’s time to start reading builds and theory craft with a skills editor.

How about you push us out of the tier right now if you are so capable. Or how about I try my hand at match manipulation and join the cd server and idle in cd borderlands 24/7 or give away troop strength, makeup, and location and waste keep supply building a line of rams from your garrison to each of the keeps.

The server transfer system should be modified to prevent transfers between servers in a single tier and the tiers both 1 above and 1 below. But allow free transfers to servers in other tiers.

Good times. It forced me to switch to condition removal skills rather than my more aggressive skills. Peeps around me were doing the same thing.

Regarding being a cross-server guild, if nothing else, it’s a great way to get to know other engineers. And we’ll be ready organizationally if anything changes with regards to guesting and the like.

We stacked a lot of churns, dropped many-a-portal, but by this point you guys had put some pretty serious arrow cart presence on the inner wall and we couldn’t get past the inner gate. Getting into Garrison was the easy part. Killing the players proved less-so.

We were trying to figure out why the churn wasn’t working so well near the end there. We had 4 elementalists stacking them, but we were only getting 1 or 2 down on average. Are you guys heavy into bunker guardians? We saw a lot of them on the field today, and It’s got a few of my guys thinking it might not be a bad idea to get a few more….

At any rate, amazing fights. We didn’t win, but we’re not ‘gonna cry about it. We’ll see you again tomorrow!

I don’t get the complaints about the Glicko system. The point of it is exactly to deal with things like server transfers and inconsistent map population.

I’m willing to create a Fort Aspenwood Engineer guild, but I won’t be in game until later tonight, probably around 10pm PST.

What about “Engineering” for a name?

Simply put, such sentiment doesn’t work. There’s a whole math-based field of study devoted to the subject (game theory) which explains why the best solution to this problem still is for Anet to fix the bugs.

I don’t mean to defend the spawn point invulnerability thing and I certainly don’t condone that kind of play , only to say that the video makes you guys look kind of foolish complaining about something like this.

I was gonna tweak some Ghostbusters quotes for this, but then realized how fitting some of them were without modification.

Supply Crate is a combo finisher so that alone to me makes it leagues above the other options.

Which PvE problems? I “discovered” elixir gun in PvE while opening Temple of Balthazar and, as totes points out, elixir gun is great for groups. Then after playing a bit WvW and dealing with mobs and trying new skills, I aggro’ed a bunch of Sons of Svanir into a mob in PvE then played them almost WvW style. It was surprising to me that I survived and did rather well considering that previously I’d have handled that situation by trying to exploit the NPC AI and focus on damaging one or two NPCs at a time. I felt like TANKCAT and it opened up a whole new world of playing for me. Point being, play a little of both and you may find PvE problems go away.

I haven’t played around with traits too much nor worried about which runes I’ve got. I ended up with 15/25/30/0/0 during PvE with the idea that I’d do a lot of turrets and rifle. Now I can’t tell you the last time I’ve laid a turret! I started experimenting with different skill combos while restricting trait point changes to see how much performance I can squeeze out of those traits. So far it’s been fun, actually. Different situations call for different solutions which makes it difficult to say, “Here’s the set of skills you need to be a jack of all trades”. I started experimenting like this with elixir gun, elixir B, and elixir S or grenades and that was good for some group supporting play and some WvW. But last night while everyone was taking a bathroom break I tried bombs for the first time. I had bombs and goggles and slick shoes. It was pretty awesome, wiping a mob of 5 ogres plus their pets with bombs all by myself. But what I did with bombs last night wouldn’t work too well in other situations. And to be sure there’s some situations where I wouldn’t try to solo.

I also now carry around a rifle, two pistols, and a shield so that I have access to all those weapon skills, even though I can’t change them in the middle of a fight. I think the key to “jack of all trades” type play is to do something like limit yourself to not changing your traits and then play around with everything else. Looking at the trait lines makes you want to specialize and this kind of build is not a specialist. I also found that if you are not reaching a point where all your skills are on cooldown, you have some underutilized skill that you need to swap out or figure out a better use for.

Has anyone done something yet like try to spread out trait points amongst all traits evenly? I intend to try that when I get bored with my current experiment.

My engineer is Sylvari and my Norn is a mesmer because I got tired of stereotypes in fantasy settings.

Here’s mine. It isn’t perfect. It’s just something I’ve been running with. I’m too lazy to change trait lines. This started out as what I ended up with from soloing a lot in PvE with turrets. Then I discovered how great the underrated elixir gun is for group play in PvE or WvW and came to value doing combos. I trade out grenades for elixir S or a flamethrower or turret at times. I also adjust trait skills depending upon the situation.
