Can I sit on your face? Sorry, couldn’t resist writing that. I don’t do that sort of thing.
Thanks for your reply. I’m not referring to QQ specifically from you. I have in mind some guilt-tripping I read from about 3 or 4 weeks ago when you guys were on CD. Perhaps it was meant in jest, but such subtlety can get lost in this textual medium.
Chaba,
I don’t expect every single person on a server not to attack.
I expect that there will be attacks, but I want to surprise the would-be attackers. I want to run by a zerg who has no idea we’re coming. And then they will kill us, but maybe the next week they will want to join. It is not about winning or honor or peace or drama. It is about fun…and yaks.
The people who plan to attack the parade claim they want to stop this ‘abortion of a parade’ once and for all – but I’m not sure why they think culling the herd would make us quit. That’s what we want them to do, because in our deaths we are providing sacrifices to the great Bloody Beard. The dolyak trollers (trollyaks? yes. trollyaks) get lootbags and have their fun, and we have ours.
My only wish is that they would be more inventive. There are so many opportunities for hilarity here. The future videos will be boring if the Trollyaks don’t step up their game.
I have no qq.
And neither should anyone else, BG TC or FA.
I’ve never understood this whole parade thing. The original incident was before my time. Personally I wouldn’t engage unless attacked because I know it’s just someone’s idea of fun and I wouldn’t want to get in the way of that. I’ve come to the opinion though that it’s simply too kitten to expect that every single person on a server is going to refrain from killing a red tag in a PvP zone given that not everyone reads these forums, pays attention much to chat, or even has a lot of experience in WvWvW. Don’t you think those hair-trigger pugs who end up attacking siegerazer, when it is strategically better to leave him alone, and won’t stop or even respond are a perfect example of the kittenness of an expectation for a cease-fire? It has nothing to do with honor and everything to do with situational awareness and level of experience of the individual players.
Then the QQ and drama and attempts at guilt tripping others over getting attacked only invites more attacks. If the parade occurred at a more reasonable time for me, I might have considered joining in, but all the drama around it has been a real turn-off and leaves me almost cheering on those who attack it on purpose now.
Anyway, good luck with Kaineng.
Hello BG and TC. I’m hoping our match up thread is as fun this next week as this one seems to have been. Some of you sound worried though…speaking of alliances and what not. You may be over estimating the Kaineng. We can’t have that…
You have no need to worry, we’re only here for the Dolyak Parade. We’ve spent weeks to get here just to meet TC and party with their Yaks
The culmination of a “long” journey. We can rest now, for there will be Dolyaks!
Cookie?
I’ll believe you when War Machine (including Jang) show up to the Dolyak parade, remain entirely passive, and join in on our fun.
LOL! Yeah … that’s not going to happen. If I’m wrong, I’ll record myself eating one of my sweaty gym socks. Hmmm, I better pick up a nice Merlot to go with that just in case.
I’m rooting for a positive outcome .. participating in a tri-server parade is more about honor than anything else. I suspect they’ll rise to the challenge. Better get a second bottle
Fort Engineer [NERF] began as a vision to gather engineers together and see what kind of hilarity will ensue: mass supply crate drops, flamethrowers ala ghostbusters, etc.. Our core mission is to act as a clearinghouse of engineer contacts for party formation and have lots of looney tune fun!
NERF originated on Fort Aspenwood yet we are a cross-server guild, helping engineers all across Tyria.
Be a part of growing our guild! If you think you have what it takes to be a combat engineer, we’d love to blow stuff up with you. For an invite, please send me in-game mail. I am usually on after 9pm server time.

I’ll admit that I’m really addicted to Magnet Pull in WvWvW even though it has issues. I often use it for pulling someone into our forces or pulling someone off a ledge (if they are standing o top of the wall ledge). Odd that people can be pulled off ledges but if there’s hilly terrain it will only pull them half way, if at all. A lot of times it seems I end up missing because the target is out of range. And then the skill goes on cooldown anyway, which is pretty annoying since there’s no real good way of gauging range with that skill.
The oddest, most bugged thing I’ve seen is pulling someone running away, they end up in front of me and before I can hit them they are suddenly way further ahead than before I pulled them.
Maybe it is related to some calculations for the new rating system.
I think the OP was supposed to be a joke.
For those keeping track:
Finally some sylvari!
The stability still takes effect, but now without the transform it is more difficult to tell that I didn’t accidentally toss the elixir in a different location. Eyes are focused on the character, not on the boon list.
Give it a rest, dude. Now you’re writing passive-aggressive posts rather than agreeing to disagree. I made no false claim. The engineer class has many bugs still outstanding. My opinion was that it is difficult to assess, to answer the question, “Only for Elite Players?” with those bugs still outstanding. The answer to the question should be no if the bugs were all fixed (that is my hope). Right now it looks like the answer is yes because only those elite players sticking with the class are bothering to avoid or workaround bugged skills and traits (and to awesome results). We may use the term “pigeonholing” in different ways, at least get over that term and try to understand what is being explained. It is extremely disappointing that the message on this thread continues to be the elitist one: “Engineers are awesome if you just learn how to play them properly.” That I felt no need to be specific to someone like yourself who knows so much about which bugs the engineer has is not indicative of avoidance, spin, or personal desires.
Anyway, I’m done with this “conversation”.
(edited by Chaba.5410)
That’s similar to what I use in WvW with slightly different traits, but your build has higher health and attack. Mine is more tankcat like.
And I answered your question in as reasonable a manner as possible. The only point in arguing specifics (like bringing up FT which was extremely buggy for a long time and only was partially fixed a whole week ago) is to reinforce the OP’s first premise: “Engineers are awesome if you just learn how to play them properly.” That does NOT help our profession’s reputation amongst beginners.
I get it. You are like many posters her, and do not mind blurting out claims, and making generic statements. Yet you back pedal when confronted about it. Check. I am used to that here on the engineer forums.
And I get you. You are being disingenuous in an attempt to be right. You KNOW there are skills you avoid using because they are bugged and do not work as expected or found some way to play around them (that beginners without knowledge of these bugs would not even realize) even though the skill is not intended to be played that way. I do NOT need to list them to satisfy meeting your personal rhetorical standards.

While playing something like a Warrior is easy mode, I find myself bored in minutes. I actually enjoy this class, and when I play other classes, I simply do not get the same amount of enjoyment that I get when playing the Engineer.
Happens to me too. My next highest level alt character is a mesmer and I haven’t played with it in awhile because I was getting bored.
Daemonne,
If you want a list of engineer bugs, someone tries to keep a list up to date on the wiki at http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Bolton/Engineer_bugs so you don’t have to dig around in the bug thread in this forum. It doesn’t seem like the list has been updated since the Jan. 28th patch though since Hair Trigger is still listed yet supposedly fixed. Hrm, Mortar or Supply Crate? And you can just forget about Rifled Turret Barrels if you were hoping for range increases.
It appears that the January 28th patch introduced a new bug with Toss Elixir S. The stability effect no longer makes characters grow and thereby removes a key visual clue.
From the patch notes: “Toss Elixir S: This skill will no longer remove transforms from players.”
From the screenshot, stability appears to be granted but the character doesn’t grow. There are no obvious transforms that would be removed. I just logged in, used Toss Elixir S (about three times) until I got stability, and took the screenshot then logged out. The stealth transforms do seem to work. In the screenshot I’m in Caledon Forest, but the first time I noticed this was on Jan. 28th after patching while in one of the WvWvW borderland maps.
You claimed that bugs pigeon hole our profession. I simply asked which ones specifically you refer to? As well as what do you feel it pigeon holes us into?
It is a reasonable question. Your reply to me asking it originally appear as if your making a lot of incorrect assumptions and trying to read things into my question that are not there. Any particular reason your dodging it?

I think it is really difficult to assess the situation with so many bugs still outstanding. I’d say the bugs are what really drives us to be pigeonholed.
What bugs specifically pigeon hole our profession? ANd what are we pigeon holed into exactly?
coglin,
I appreciate what you’re trying to do here in defending the profession and those of us who chose to play it. You won’t get an argument from me on whether a complaint arises from a player’s lack of experience or skill rather than something actually wrong with the profession. It would be honest though to admit that those of us dedicated to the profession tend to avoid certain traits or skills because of bugs with those skills. Beginners to the profession (that’s what this thread is about, no?) do not really know where these bugs are. When they try to rely upon some skill that actually isn’t working right because it is bugged and they don’t realize it is bugged, they may unfairly form a negative opinion about the profession. To me, that makes it difficult to assess whether the profession is truly only for elite players or not.

0/30/0/30/10 here with rampagers and rifle. Using HGH to stack up might.

It’s worked out pretty well so far in WvWvW.
Naked humans are so boring, so plain, so non-iridescent. You need colorful sylvari to present the score.

Napalm, in my eyes, should be a circle of fire, just like the elementalist. I know that the reason why they made it a line is for recognition. Screw that. Give us the circle!
Napalm should be…
…all over the place!
Grenade engineer is good for standing in the back and launching AoEs. If you’re traited for it you can get 1900 range on all grenades. Also each skill could throw 3 grenades, each one being it’s own AoE, so it’s almost like bending the 5-target AoE limit a little.
If you go grenades in WvW, they are used for spraying the tops of walls, helping clear cannons and oil, and the up-close-and-personal individual 100nades’ hug. You don’t AoE groups of people with them at range and expect anything useful to occur.
That’s not a bug, but a feature.
Ty for the laugh in EB, FA, this was amazing and hilarious^ ^~
That was a great race!
From what I understand…
*Utility skill damage is/was based on player level (according to the wiki)
*The patch (supposedly) changes bundle weapon damage to be based on the highest rarity weapon damage available to your level. Apparently basing it on player level alone was not producing results consistent with actual weapons.
Honestly, I didn’t pay attention to the attack statistic prior to this patch and I too see the attack statistic going down when switching to a kit. Yet I also see that the weapon damage is roughly double what it was before the patch and prybar is really messing faces up good.
NO!
GW1 player here.
Last night in WvW I saw unicorns flying at me. Too funny!
There’s definitely a lot of confusion over this patch and how it is supposed to affect bundles. Clarification would be greatly appreciated.
I sure wish they didn’t change toss elixir s. It no longer makes people grow larger, even when they’re not transformed.
Yea, I think this is a new bug. I giggled every time I saw giant Asura. Now no love.
Would you be so kind as to check the sig before you respond next time? I am not a member of BT. Their playing time is earlier than mine.
Hey man, pull your head outa BT’s butt and maybe you could see whats happening lol.
That was actually the fight we where watching. For not being a zerg guild you guys sure held of the entirety of DB BL in that one keep. Ill admit you have a tactic, drop 3 mesmer portals let DB rush lord room, portal back up rinse repeat, sad they kept falling for such a silly gimmick.
Also you had a fairly large amount of people, when you guys portaled in and out my screen completely filled with red BT tags and we where at a distance. This video is zerging with some tactic, still outnumbering the enemy and you cant say you werent because I was there, you out numbered Mag and DB at that keep.
Well, comparing the damage listed for kits over at gw2skills.net and the damage listed in-game, kit damage is roughly doubled. Prybar is gonna hurt so good now. Tankcat may actually tanksplat now.
Glad to see some bug fixes. The bundle scaling was a bug. Fixing it is not a buff. A buff would be something like increasing the damage of grenades or reducing the cooldown of a skill.
IRSyKo,
You are being sarcastic. The numbers look pretty even in that video too. Look at around 1:50 especially, BT sallies forth into a group around the same size.
I’m sorry, where is the video of 5v20? I’m not finding it. I’d like to make sure we’re all talking about the same thing here.
The numbers actually look pretty even in the videos. There’s a few times where stragglers would get steamrolled and then there’s scenes where BT comes up against a group around the same size as them.
I’m also Sylvari. Clearly we are not understood as engineers. We naturally have more turrets than any other engineer race. We can Take Root and suddenly the whole battle field is awash in turrets.
OMG I’m crying! Look at the teddies!
Invite sent. Welcome to Fort Engineer! The motd has a link to our Facebook page.
Bumping! We’ve had some great times so far.
Hey Itchy, Fort Engineer [NERF] would love to have you, even as just a secondary guild!
Fort Aspenwood is also where the engineer-only Fort Engineer [NERF] guild primarily operates from!
I still don’t get the QQ about RNG, especially after holding up random mesmer boons as a great thing.
I sure hope so! A trebuchet is not called a siege “engine” for nothing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat_engineer

Give the guy a break. English probably isn’t his first language. DB has been a great opponent, coming up only recently into T3.

(Seriously, do yourself a favor and buy one)
I have one, but I installed on my large capacity disk drive. I guess I should stop being lazy and just reinstall on the SSD already.
Me too! LOL! I’m kind of afraid to uninstall and reinstall even. Don’t want to miss out on game time.
Why uninstall? Drag and drop on SSD. Create new shortcut. Play game. All I did works fine.
Oh nice. Thanks!
Since getting heavy into WvW during the trial without knowing there was a trial going on and then experiencing the terrible culling effects after the trial ended, I’m glad to hear that the trial culling method is returning.

What does an SSD drive have to do with server side culling?
I have one too and even have the game installed on it. Still culls.
Loading models to render is a local issue.

simply solution against a zerg: 9 AC and a cannon.
And a choke point!
