IMHO, if you never played an engineer, especially from back when the game was released, you have absolutely no right to call for a nerf to this class. Your opinion is worthless.
And sometimes… yeh sometimes I´d like to know where the hell they get those numbers from!
I´m used to such cruel exaggerations from the community…. but from devs!?From what I’ve heard, the screenshot showing a 26k 100nades was photoshopped. But unfortunately it appeared, Anet accepted it as law, and the nerfbat swung hard.
Ah, so that’s the solution! Photoshop up a screenshot of other classes doing impossible levels of damage!
With TC’s new transfers, there is no point in competing in a population game (and many guilds on FA were not interested in the first place). Instead, we’ll have fun doing things that don’t require population – setting up loot farms and GvG.
If you really feel this way, maybe you should leave WvW and play sPvP?
You’ll feel right at home in Tier 1!
It’s just an experimental build for testing. There’s no point in arguing over which is better or full of worth. There is value in experimentation. I have never really looked at Leg Mods and had to try it out.
The skills have differences that may affect situational play.
- Speedy Kits provides a swiftness boon for 5 seconds with a 5 second cooldown.
- Leg Mods provides a non-boon speed buff (can’t be boon stripped) when carrying a device kit (bombs, grenades, medkit).
- Power Shoes provides a non-boon speed buff when in combat.
To highlight how these differences affect situational play, here’s a hypothetical example. Let’s say you switch to a kit for 5 seconds of swiftness. Two seconds in, you get boon-stripped. It’ll be another 3 seconds before you can move fast again. Or maybe after 3 seconds you need to switch to medkit for antidote or heal. You only have 2 seconds to do whatever healing you need before you have to switch out of medkit if you want to gain swiftness again. I bet if you took both Speedy Kits and Power Shoes, Power Shoes will have you covered in battle during those hiccups with Speedy Kits.
Speedy Kits is of great utility for getting around the map in WvW that Leg Mods and Power Shoes can’t provide.
BTW, Power Shoes does seem to stack with Leg Mods.
What’s really fun is a speed build with slick shoes, leg mods, and power shoes.
“Catch me if you can!”
Speed bonuses do not stack.
Power Shoes will overwrite the trash Leg Mods, Swiftness and Super Speed will overwrite Power Shoes.
You don’t use them all at the same time!
Nerf engineers.
Seriously, I don’t know how I end up last man standing sometimes. Don’t nerf us. We need some bones like that!
Here’s a build with slick shoes that I was testing out. Needs a bit of work probably. Uses grenades over bombs to stay at range, except, of course, when diving into a zerg.
What’s really fun is a speed build with slick shoes, leg mods, and power shoes.
“Catch me if you can!”
Indeed it’s situational. Running into a zerg with slick shoes on the other hand is good for a laugh or two.
You haven’t used this skill while crippled yet, have you?
Nah, I’m dawnbloom!
I love Mythbusters, so I’d go with: Failure is always an option [BOOM]
That happened in the next town over from where I live!
“I make a pretty good team.” sounds so arrogant. Cracks me up every time.
Roll over a zerg a couple of times with one of these and I guarantee they’ll think twice before clumping up again…
I think it’s been kinda ugly lately with TC-v-FA largely due to that widely circulated FA forum post about the “hogs” of TC. While I’m sure it doesn’t reflect the views of all of FA, it was “liked” by many of the FA community, and was a really low, immature, deluded, prideful, and non-factual post.
…That was also only posted on our server’s forums where you have no business being.
I also don’t see how it was ‘liked by many of the fa community’… probably 5 people lol’d at it publicly, and there were several that said ‘knock it off’. Please quit overgeneralizing.
Confirmation bias!
For WvWvW, you’ll want some more toughness in your build, especially since the vitality seems so low. Agree with Kimbald, it seems a bit too much glass cannon. How will you be able to deliver your bombs if you go down in two hits?
As a general observation, your critical chance is only 9%. I like to take critical hit based traits only if my chance of getting a critical hit is more decent, 30% and above.
The OP seems to have removed his post and the responses no longer make sense. It was QQ about engineer condition damage in sPvP and asking for it to be nerfed.
Last night in PvE using Rifle #4 or #5 against a Vulture Raptor, had it teleport quite some distance away and out of combat! And that wasn’t the only instance of magically teleporting battle participants. Definitely some client-server timing issue…
Agreed. We need to figure out how we want to handle this, however, so I can’t say when we’ll do something about it or what the nature of the solution will be.
Put a mini pet in the store that sells for 2k gems. This mini pet picks up all your bags automagically. You would have a gold mine with this.
Haha, like the pet in Torchlight that runs to the store to sell junk for you…
Roll out! Anet, please make it happen!
There was a “routine maintenance” patch today. Sounds like maybe some back-end thing to try to address skill lag could be causing a timing issue…
Add condition removal to your build.

I’ve told people recently about my Amazing Travelling Junk Show…
Hehe. It was my first night doing sPvP with two different builds I never played before; not familiar with the maps at all.
Mmmmmmmmm…. maybe
Thanks for posting this. I just started some PvP and I am trying out different builds. Will have to try this.
Why do people insist on running away from the upleveled engineer with pink hair? I’m sad now.
Because Engineers are OP, didn’t you know?
Had a great time again in TC BL with [Corp]. Time to take a break…and sleep.
Also I find it amazing how far people will chase you for the kill, I’ve been chased across the entire map far too many times haha.
It’s really funny when a whole zerg chases you too. Look at how important you are to so many people! They certainly deserve your loot bag after that.
Shera,
Fort Aspenwood was considered a PvP server since before the game was released due to it’s Guild Wars 1 namesake. It’s not exactly “self-titled”.
It’s that location! I once was involved in building siege right at that spot and after it was built was magically transported to inside the wall!
Moreover, EU and NA players cannot guest over. :/
There’s some NERF members on EU servers. I can put you into contact with them.
Try it next time when your opponent is not outmanned.
Seriously, Shira? Good luck on TC, but please stop painting FA in such a light. You left FA for personal reasons. Why continue the drama here on the official forums?
And for those FA who still have respect for you, you just destroyed that too with your rant here.

Which do you play mostly: PvP, WvW, or PvE? Elixir-infused bombs are pretty good in WvW.
I’ve been playing for about 2 weeks now with a new keymap. One feature of it is that I have Weapon Skill 1 on V so I can spam it with my thumb while the other fingers are free for movement and activating Utility skills. It’s been working great!
Penguin,
That just keeps me laughing. It’s so true!
Indeed, the lack of WvWvW guesting sucks for cross-server guilds. It emphasizes servers over guilds.
o/~ I’m a chicken hunter, hunting for the chickens. I’m a clockwork orange with the mechanism tickin’…
I got sunshineeee~~~~~ On a cloudy day~~~~
Got a black AK, gonna blow you awaaaaaaaaaaayyy!!! o/~
My amazing junk show
Bahahahahahahahahaha! Personal battering ram! Amazing!
As a guild leader of NERF, I would like to clarify a rumor about Fort Engineer [NERF]. We have always been a cross-server guild. We have members across multiple servers, including Crystal Desert, and we are always looking for members on other servers who are interested in building up their server chapters. The Fort Aspenwood chapter will help provide resources to do that.
Good luck with your new guild! We know how much fun all-engineer teams are.
Are they supposed to be blockable? I think there’s been some discussion on this before and certain skills are not blockable.
But in general I’m a happy little engineer, and I must say: most engineers I’ve come across seemed pretty good spirited too.
Because you’re always running into NERF.
If you’re running in a large group in WvWvW, it doesn’t matter which class you are playing, build for group support. I don’t mean healing necessarily (even though I run healing bombs a lot), but use skills that do something for or share with allies.
I’m currently traited 20/0/30/10/10 with Elixir Infused Bombs, Healing Turret, P/S, Elixir R and Elixir Gun. And I do AoE combos left and right.
I’ve been using Mortar lately a bit in WvWvW and here’s my observation.
Mortar has awesome potential as currently implemented. The skills are useful to me for supporting front line fighters. BUT… The biggest problem with it is either the range is too short or it needs better survivability. Increase one or the other.
Because the range is too short, I have to place it closer to a battle (especially if I’m on top of a wall) and put it at greater risk of massive AoE damage. And when this happens, because of the low survivability, this leads to the mortar sometimes being killed before I even get a chance to fire a single shot off. Happened to me twice last night. Horrible thing to happen for an elite skill with a long cooldown.
If the range were longer, I wouldn’t care so much about having a squishy mortar. If the survivability were greater, I wouldn’t care that I’m closer to battle with a shorter range. Would be nice to be able to fire off a few shots before cooldown…
I agree that retaliation is a problem for high damage output builds, yet consider that if you are running zerg v. zerg in WvWvW, damage happens due to the zerg. It’s more important that you can stay standing up in a fight.
Would the guild leader of PINK please contact me regarding Hills on KBL tonight? Thank you.
If you pay directly for the capital and operational costs (power, maintenance, bandwidth) of your own server, I’m pretty sure Anet would be more than happy to do that for you.
I tuned my video card settings (Nvidia GTX 675M) to around medium (wvw character number high and quality to normal) and played wvw on FA in Kaineng Borderland for a little during EU hours yesterday. A largish zerg running by was completely fine. Noticed a slight hiccup only once.
Then played wvw on FA on EB map during West Coast prime time hours and ugh, got down to 4 fps with those settings. Had to go back and switch graphics settings to low and FPS only dipped to around 24 during the large zerg battles. BUT, the micro-freezes were much more frequent.
So yea, the freezes are very much a part of the game. Another friend mentioned he’s having similar behavior. It’s like the game gets hit with a ton of data to process suddenly and freezes until it’s done. I’m going to monitor CPU usage tonight…
P.S. Get freezes too in Lion’s Arch and other PvE maps.
Have a look at Origin PC. I play on an EON15-S Pro reasonably well.
