Yep, everyone will find ways to trigger the traps beforehand.
Lol pets triggering traps? that will probably make them a ton more useful now in WvW, Ranger job = minesweeper or even trapsweeper.
LOL! That’s what combat engineers are supposed to do!
I’ve noticed that on my other toons. I have a thief and ranger and they both outdo my engi in everything in PVE easily without blinking and not for trying.
Hehe, I must use all the wrong skills on my alts because my thief always felt weak in PvE.
Ah, the second update wasn’t there when I read them…
Stealth removal doesn’t just effect thieves it effects mes a ton as well as engis and rangers
What they should have done was give a stealth reveal on the engineer Goggle gadget.
Since the turret traits in Inventions are broken, I haven’t seen many using this turret anymore. It used to be great to throw up on a wall and knock people off.
Yea…sigh The April 30th patch really broke things and who knows when they will get fixed given the history of engineer bugs still outstanding…
It’s silly that the Mortar dies so easily, especially to the engineer’s own skills that are below it on the skill tree. In a perfect situation, it is possible to place it out of range of the Rocket Turret since Mortar has an ever-so-slightly greater range. In the middle of battle is not a perfect situation, especially when adding in height considerations. Add on to that the weak #1 of Mortar with it’s bad radius that doesn’t do any real splash damage and it is possible to only fire off about 2 shots before the Mortar is dead (#5 is awesome but can’t land all damage on a single target). In the middle of battle, you only often get the chance to fire off 2 shots before someone notices and starts AoE’ing you. Opened with #5 and continued with#1 for only like 2 shots. I think I only did like half damage to the rocket turret before Mortar died.
Supply Crate yet again would have probably been better.

Rocket turret wins. That is very, very wrong. Please buff/fix Mortar!
The other night I dropped of the same cliff 5 or 6 times in a row until I figured out that if I drop and move into a slightly different position as I’m falling, it breaks the cycle.
i dont really claim to understand exactly what took place here, but it did make my night
it’s processing, give it a minute
I’ve seen that before, except it was TC throwing down rams at the NE gate of Bay (owned by DB) when the north gate was completely open from our rams. The TC group must have not followed us out of the quarry camp…
Mr. Mastermind put together more footage of the shenanigans of that night.
I’ve noticed myself that it fails to knockback sometimes, especially on the healing turret.
What’s death but a chance to watch Mr. Mastermind, the Naked Norn Bomber?
It ain’t easy being moa.

Good luck to everyone!
Where’s the sonar beards?!
Can’t say I’ve seen a successful siege at that location on Hills. That’s a fun spot to troll people who try though.
That spot is stupid and it makes me wonder about his play level if he thinks a tiny ledge that you have to jump to and that can be AoE’d from above is the best choice.
Overall I thought the video was a nice little intro to WvW.
I know you will! Yay!
Please keep the Answer updated, Evalana!
Shenanigans! We had 3 superior ballistae and 1 AC up. The DB krewe was trying different things to get through. We decided to help them a bit…

Aw, let’s not ruin the fun! Naked dancing at DBBL north camp everyone!
Seriously!?!?! Omw!
WAAITTT A MINUTE…. Chaba’s a big jerk. From Engi to Engi… my heart is broken as well as my elixirs. sadface I was so excited about naked Asura dance party. I mean I’ve already been accused of no pants…
(We had some superior ballistae and AC up. The DB krewe there was getting annoying with us, tried a few times to beat us back. Then they sat there discussing tactics for a bit. So we decided to dance! Here are the results… We continued to dance at our spawn after lol!)
Oh, and thanks to Boozies for helping!

This sounds like a lot of fun, but the times always manage to be terrible for me. Sometimes it’s lonely being on the West Coast.
I’ve run from zergs for upwards of 60-90 seconds straight, and they all eventually caught up with me because of the ridiculous number of short cooldown gap closers that classes like Warriors, Guardians, Rangers, and Thieves have coupled with their speed boosts and cripple, and immobilize effects.
This. I think they keep after you for so long because you are frustrating their attempts to kill you right away. Speaking from personal experience. If they really want to chase you all over the entire map, they deserve your loot bag. LOL!
Kind of funny that you mention this… Mortar #1 has an even smaller radius, so small that it’s practically useless, especially if you’re trying to hit people up on a wall.
Turret traits in the Inventions line have been nerfed… I mean bugged due to the April 30th patch. There’s something in the Bugs forum about it already.
When I started, I wasn’t much into a lot of the kits and a few other skills either. I mostly used a few turrets and elixirs. Then one day after reaching level 80 and helping to open the Temple of Balthazar, someone was telling other people, “Don’t use CC skills, use conditions”. I picked up Elixir Gun for the first time really and fell in love with it. Now I can’t get enough of it. Same goes with Bomb Kit and a few other kits.
Bottom line: sometimes it’s just a matter of learning which situations are best for those skills.
You could try Condition Damage, Precision, and Toughness gear (Rabid). For WvW the key stat is Toughness imho.
Aw, let’s not ruin the fun! Naked dancing at DBBL north camp everyone!
Nice. Power Shoes are my next choice if I happen to be using Mortar rather than Supply Crate. Do you use that in WvW? I mean to get full PVT gear and always get distracted by something else
This is kind of what I have for WvW. Not bad either for dungeons.
DB, thanks for letting our small group break into cragtop so that our guildmate could get the POI.
It’s kind of amazing the many different ways there are to build a bomb healer… I’ll get mine posted later. Gotta run.
Nice!
15 char filler…
Just because Mif never fit in with the militia culture on FA doesn’t mean FA doesn’t have it or that it isn’t inclusive. Mif is just offering up a personal opinion colored by rather toxic relations Mif had with others and not stating any facts. There’s some different idea about what inclusive means….

Ninja Stealthy, sounds like they deserved your loot bag.
I see lots of engineers in WvW. Funny when I place Mortar and the engineer up on the tower does the same thing and fires at me.
Is it just me or does this trait not seem to work with the new healing turret? I have not tested adequately yet. The only test I did was to check that it still works with Thumper Turret.
It’s pretty much gotten to the point that this week’s match needs to be invalidated.
If you are getting disconnected, don’t feel too bad. It’s either a disconnect or getting locked up in the middle of a battle. You end up dead anyway. Doesn’t take a whole lot of skill to kill someone who is suffering lag issues. Not fun and it’s driving people away from WvW…
I have video of the falling thing and think it is definitely due to some new way the lag is being handled by the client since the April 30th patch. I drop down and don’t take damage then am at the top again and drop down and this time take damage. Seems like I’ve actually taken damage twice even with this double-fall yet I don’t have it on film yet.
And it’s been happening in the middle of battle. It seems like I am stunned and cannot move then I’m dead. At first I thought it was something I was hit with by the opponent yet I could not find anything in the combat log to indicate such.
I can only assume that the disconnects (I have not had them) are a symptom of the same thing.
It seems that a lot of the people here complaining are engineers, Do you realize you have one of the most powerful boon stripping skills in the game? Throw mines. It strips 25 boons.
This thread just proves to me how bad the people complaining are.
Irony is thick. Throw Mine removes 1 boon.
I think everyone should take things to the logical extreme in order to highlight the absurdity. Roll an engineer and use only Mortar in WvWvW. 20 Mortars chain firing #5 at the arrow carts. Oh the glory!
We are also addressing their range when upgraded to be more in line with the range of ballistas.
My dear dev,
Are you trolling on us or what?
Thanks
Geek time: historic Hwacha and Ballistas had roughly the same range. Not that the Hwacha arrow rockets could fire through walls or anything like that though.
Do not tempt me with the notion of Hwatchas!!!! I’ve been geeking out on those ever since I saw them build one on Mythbusters. =P
Haha! And in real life an arrow cart could not simply take down a ram because rams and other siege engines that got up close to walls and gates usually had covers over the top, like wet leather, to counter flaming arrows.
Having might on yourself makes your retaliations you inflict on them do more damage and it makes you do more damage, so it skews the curve in your favor. You down them faster and take less from their retaliation because you have to hit them less basically.
I suspect this is just a perception. Provide numbers.
Retaliation damage is based off attacker’s power. Might stacking by attacker makes defender’s retaliation inflict more damage on attacker. Adding retaliation boon on attacker may take only 5 hits from channel skill to down defender; defender’s retaliation may still return more damage than 10 hits from channel skill without might stacking. Not to mention if the channel skill hits multiple targets with retaliation. Have to see numbers really.

Kubb,
Something like Mumble or Teamspeak. It is easier to use VOIP in order to coordinate getting a large group to stack up on a commander, drop a fire field and have others blast finish it to get up to 25 stacks of might on the whole group. Then you can push out, maybe from behind a veil, and wipe the enemy who are not expecting it.
As you know, the channel skills are all low damage, rapid-fire skills. Stacking might like what is done in a large group makes the retaliation effect on them even worse. shudder Ironic because Flamethrower provides a nice fire field for stacking might…
with retaliation and might stacks because youre initiating the fight and you can buff then charge.
Lemme stack might to buff up the per-hit damage on my 10x hit channel skill and kill myself faster. Maybe it’ll only take half a button press this time.
Nah, I’d rather not use that skill despite Anet putting it there for me. I learned to play well!

Victory, you’re right. It isn’t an l2p problem. Never was and never will be. It’s a design issue. Game designers don’t put stuff like channeling skills into a game with the intent to discourage their use.
I love using siege and it’s THE ONLY place we can.
You can’t use siege really. It gets destroyed before you can build it by the arrow carts.
My fix to the AC change: buff engineer mortar so we can take out AC, give mortar the range and armor to do so.
