Founding member of [NERF] Fort Engineer and driver for [TLC] The Legion of Charrs
RIP [SIC] Strident Iconoclast
I’m looking for an explanation on the leaderboards, specifically the achievement one.
Background: I’m trying to find the home server of all our guild members. The guild ui sucks for this as it lists location rather than home server. This makes it extremely difficult for members in a cross-server guild to find who is also on their server.
Enter the achievement leaderboard where you can now filter by guild. The problem? It doesn’t appear to show all our members! So that’s the explanation I’m looking for. Why are there members appearing in the guild ui but not on the achievement leaderboard?
Also I discovered that a member had moved from an EU server to an NA server (awhile ago according to that player) and they appear on both the EU and NA leaderboard.
Thank you!
Funny that no one ever posts screens of invaders bowing.

Problem is: will healing turret’s radius be long enough to actually let it be put OUT of the point and still be healed?
This is the problem with mortar as well. If the range were longer, there would not be much of a need to up the survivability. As is, it needs to be able to stay standing under AoE barrage.
Why would anyone just hit 1?
]Besides, everyone knows where there’s skill lag from zergs meeting, there’s really only #1.
In fact, I do push all the buttons. I’m engineer so I can’t get away with rolling my face across the keyboard to do any damage, mind you. It’s just that nothing actually happens pushing other buttons under lag. Wait, we playing the same game yes?
(edited by Chaba.5410)
Yea, I gotta say, with engineer bugs still outstanding (e.g., Scope), it is impossible to really balance the classes.
Sir, I’m not sure who you are, where you come from, or what prompted that response, but “spam 1” and “skill” do not belong in the same sentence. If that’s what FA thinks wins a zerg vs. zerg fight, I can see why we steamroll them every time with equal numbers.
You don’t know me or our commanders, so please refrain from making such assumptions about myself or others on my server. The people who have transferred to TC from your server seem to enjoy it here. We WvW to have fun, and outmaneuvering our opponents is fun for us.
Wow, you took that drunk ol’ asura engineer waaaaaay too seriously. Besides, everyone knows where there’s skill lag from zergs meeting, there’s really only #1.
And to say that there is no skill involved in #1 is false. There’s skill involved in picking to which key you change the binding so that you can spam it faster with less carpal tunnel. That’s how I roll, don’t you?

What was up with that talk about prybar as a counter for something? I don’t use toolkit in my wvw support build (except underwater).
I get sad when my mortar dies before I even get a chance to fire it off and I have to wait that long, long cooldown for another one. I mean, you know, because I’m up on a wall and I can’t hit kitten without getting close to the edge.
There’s already a thread for this. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/T2-Matchup-TC-FA-DB/first

Good to see you again Dragonbrand and welcome to Tier 2! Had some great fights with you when we faced each other in T3 (you were in our first NERF video!). I’m looking forward to this!
(edited by Chaba.5410)
Please, mortar, please! Range or survivability. Either will be fine!
There wasn’t by chance a ram by a gate floating half-way up the wall, was there?
Turret AI still targets kitten!
Forge, LoL – those are great examples of games designed specifically for PvP/GvG style of play with the “lore” loosely tacked on.
Anybody who played through all of the GW Campaigns and the Bonus Story Missions knows that ANet is just as passionate and committed to their Story, Lore, and Background and the “RPG” side of the game.
Certainly the lore was never meant to be “loosely” tacked on (your words, not mine). The original Arenanet guys came out of the Blizzard environment, a bunch of RenFaire regulars, if you didn’t know (which has both RP and PvP!). Think of how Warcraft lore grew from explaining why the game had two different groups fighting on a map into generating new styles of game play which then expanded the lore even more. Same thing in Guild Wars from Prophecies through Factions to Eye of the North and now GW2. Good product has good integration between both form and function. Tolkien lives!
Chaba…there are may or may not be, its all dependent on whether you plan on crashing the party or joining the fun
It’s too early for my timezone. We usually satisfy ourselves instead by bringing roast pig, Mad King, fireworks, tree tonics, etc. to supply camp defense. (Used to have a member run around with us who had some sort of furniture tonic. Got sat on a lot…)
Is there an RP dolyak parade planned in a PvP zone for this match? I think we’ll have to put our sonar beards on.

The Guild Wars lore is meant as back story for guilds in-game and the PvP/GvG/etc. style of play.
Quick look! A TC/FA match-up thread that was nice. No moderator warnings, nary a troll (despite SoR trolling). Even has compliments. Look at it! Look at it!

Sonar beards! They’re onto our secretzzzzzzz!
Tesla’s Death Ray!
Well we keep on reminding people to go through proper channels like asking for guild to contact them, or report to Anet. But you know how it goes, every day a new poster is born and it’s difficult to bring them on board with “forum etiquette”.
Yep, and it’s good to keep reminding them here too.
Hah, that’s 14.7 copies of Guild Wars 2!
After skipping Saturday night, I added tonight as a “reset weekend” night for me. Final tally came in at 2218 kills and 12 yak slaps. Donation sent in tonight.
Great to see a lot of cross server participation. Thanks everyone for their time and effort.
At 0.25 a kill and $5 a yak?! You, sir, are awesome.
From what I can tell based on what pledges and confirmations have been reported here, we’ve raised $884.50!!!!!
Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved.
To me him being a troll and all that does as little damage to FA’s rep as it does to [PiNK]’s because he was in an obvious troll guild.
It only damages FA’s reputation because of prejudicial bias by the reader and witness. I have never heard of any [pink] guild nor seen any running around. This is the first time hearing about it. Notice that it wasn’t even an FA person confusing the guild for [PiNK] on TC? Some unknown individual from an unknown guild that no one associates regularly with Fort Aspenwood can never objectively be representative of an entire server’s reputation.
It would be much appreciated if people refrained from further generalizations about an entire server just because of one unknown. The troll-free course of action is to take a screenshot, report it to the Anet exploits address, and ask for someone from the [pink] guild to contact you.
Edit: I am simply responding to Coinin’s post in agreement and not to suggest that my post is addressed to Coinin.

Yes, I’m the suicidal eng that tries to get through TC zergs…I use her and not a thief.
YaY! I do something better than an engi! Hang 10 zerf surfing thief! But, I never TRY to. It just happens. Like, EEK ZERG, surf or drown!
I am a leaf on the wind! Which is way better than being stomped and trampled on leaf bits on the ground.
9 times out of 10, the pod drop lands on me. Ouch. That junk is heavy. You engineers really should watch where you call those in, someone could get hurt.
Would it surprise you to learn I make do with elixirs/FT and not supply drop? I think I’m one of the few engs who don’t use it.
I know well of suicidal engineers, always wanting to run through a zerg and see what happens. They were using Elixir X in defense of KBL Hills last night against TC then kept respawning to do it again. Also, mortar #5 against ppl standing on the edge of a cliff for lulz.
Like I said, a few can ruin the image of a whole bunch.
I hope everyone realizes that this works both ways.
When you came onto our private forum, you got an unfortunately rude welcome by people who were not even original FA (going back to the dolyak incident) because of the bad taste left by some TC few who came before you. And the cycle (started by someone who isn’t even on TC) perpetuates.
(edited by Chaba.5410)
If the few VK who mainly posts do mostly nothing but try to troll, what do you think people are gonna view VK as? Nothing but trolls.
Really? Have you seen the rest of this thread? You’re unfairly painting an entire guild with a black brush for something that rightly everyone here is guilty of.
It is unfortunate to see KN go through this. Our BG/KN/TC matchup was absolutely amazing & respectful.
Yea, now look at the last dozen or so posts…
Most of us don’t get into this whole TC vs FA nonsense anyway.
Oh it goes way back.
In the beginning, there were dolyaks …
It was just some FA playing the game the way it is supposed to be played in a PvP zone.
New elite… Shovel Bazooka! Make it happen, Anet!
Many of the people I play with on TC are now into our third decade of gaming in the MMO genre.
What was your first game? I remember a post apocalyptic, turn based game I used to play by telnet to a BBS service, as internet was not available yet. I played some mud’s in the late 80’s, but by BBS it was too expensive/limited, so just dabbled. The first internet based MMO I played a lot was ElendorMUSH which I joined in 1991. I believe it is still in operation.
Hah, what about the old play-by-email systems?
Well before those, there was play-by-mail, the main one I played was Hyborian War. I played a few that went play-by-email by the same company, RSI, but didn’t stick with it because by the time I had internet for email, I could also play MUSH/MUX and MUD’s.
I stuck mostly to the solo games. Have the original Zork 1-3 disks (Infocom).

I don’t think the average FA player much cares if our opposition respects us.
This has been made abundantly clear over the last month.
There have been many that have and continue to act like an petulant child, and many of us on TC have turned the other cheek ignoring the insults, and backhanded compliments, but there came a point, a least for me, where I no longer felt the need to stay silent.
Many of the people I play with on TC are now into our third decade of gaming in the MMO genre. We’ve played full loot, asset destruction games where a forum war had direct and immediate in-game consequences. And most relevantly we’ve played the game of forum-war, over and over and over again.
Point being, TC is in game winning the WvW war. See Scoreboard.
If you really want to have a forum war, I’m game too.
It just killed four hours of this work day, and I couldn’t be happier about it.
Have to agree with Jayne. Go out and get some fresh air.
Match up thread when it was BG/TC/FA was also civil. Short memories…
We don’t have stats on actual WvWvW population during all timezones yet certain people are able to conclude that FA had superior numbers. Go get ’em!
The comparison of suffering does little to alleviate it. Let us not diminish compassion by trying to quantify suffering.
As I wrote above, feel free to donate to the charity of your choice a Guild Wars 2 related donation and help out in your community. Please keep this thread on topic and refrain from making comparisons of suffering and talk about which tragedy is more deserving of help. Thank you.
The FA WvWvW community picked The One Boston Fund, but feel free to donate a Guild Wars 2 themed donation this weekend to any charity of your choice.
That had 0 to do with coverage issues of overnight coverage stuff, one guild group left for guild missions and the rest kinda just meandered off. While you can chalk some of it up to coverage if it makes you feel better….when a map is literally handed (we took all the keeps and towers with only seeing like 15 defenders the entire time) at 8pm server time, its got nothing to do with coverage and more bad management of where defenders should be.
That’s coverage right there.
Wow. Just wow. Go outside and get some fresh air.
I donated the price of Guild Wars 2 to One Fund Boston. My husband has family nearby; a cousin who ran the marathon last year.
“This email confirms that you have donated $60.00 USD to The One Fund Boston, Inc. using PayPal.”
JMy personal view is that coverage wars is what makes PPT trivial and meaningless, and I think having your key competitive metric in WvW as trivial and meaningless is bad for long term health of the game.
This
PPT is all about coverage. Skill becomes defined not by your game tactics or strategies, who took what tower, how a group maneuvered on the field, but by how well you can attract more players. Most Fort Aspenwood players that I know do not find enjoyment in that type of game. The ones who do left Fort Aspenwood.
I feel really sorry for the Tarnished Coast players who don’t want their server to be in Tier 1.
There is no difference between FA’s acquisition of IoJ guilds and TC’s acquisition of CD guilds. If you remove the bias you will see that both instances are practically the same and arguing otherwise just means you are digging yourself a hole without having all the facts.
And what are the facts, hrm? You are such the expert on Fort Aspenwood facts, I can tell!
You mean to tell me all 16 guilds … None of them had any conversations with representatives from BT / RET / HOPE etc?
Someone seems to be having trouble telling the difference between a “push” style conversation and a “pull” style conversation.
IoJ is in which tier now exactly?
Where’s the FA lamentations for IoJ in tier 6?
Such short memories. IoJ fell apart in Tier 1, well before the remaining guilds decided to transfer to other servers (FA included) of their own accord.
Fort Aspenwood carries the field in both open combat and the highest forms of Role Play.
Obey the THAC0! There is no RP without THAC0!
Haha, how much did FA pay you for this stunt?
oh that’s rich.
Yep, blatant ad hominim attack on the Dragonbrand messenger, implying moral impropriety by DB. shakes head
We got 3 guilds after 8 months of having a gaping coverage hole (and 4 of those months getting our maps washed green routinely everyday in T2 due to said hole) and suddenly we’re some evil bandwagon server who’s ruining WvW
WvW ranks are based on WvW population. FA started blowing Tier 3 out of the water after the IoJ transfers, it is no secret. Good luck in Tier 1, TC! Stable Tier 2 was fun while it lasted.
How unfortunate the underwater 1v1 duel in FABL was disrupted by “friends”.
