RIP [SIC] Strident Iconoclast
PSA: The Dolyak parade will be TODAY at 7 PM Server Time (10 PM EST)
Oh good maybe I’ll be able to make it this time!
Maybe he’s traited for Accelerant-Packed Turrets… That’s how I’ve used them before trololololo!
Retal base damage already was nerfed in WvW. I wouldn’t reduce it anymore because it’ll become pretty useless in smaller fights. Besides, that isn’t the core issue, which is how retal procs on multi-hit AoE skills like FT #1, Grenades, Barrage, Meteor Shower, etc.
White and Milky,
FT #2 drops through the floor for me with no target.
Yea, that’s it!!!!! It must be lag. There’s quite a few times in larger battles that the overcharge doesn’t seem to proc before I detonate. I miss getting a good heal in. It is kitten annoying.
[NERF], we would love to 5v5, but would be short people pending the time. We did have a nice 2v4-5 you last week or so in one of the BLs, you won that one. :-p Now, only if you could convince the rest of FA that they don’t have to zergblob 2 people…
Maybe next time. It’s not easy for us to get enough together either.
I listed more then pie. Ensure you have your regen buff up too.
[NERF] Fort Engineer is still looking for an unofficial 5v5 (or slightly more depending upon who we have online). We are noobs. Please fight us.
Yes, free 200 toughness from Juggernaut, then you have to stay in FT all the time to benefit if you don’t have a good base toughness.
Engineer has good healing to mitigate lower vitality, especially if you are using EG or Backpack Regen and Omnomberry Pie, which you’re using to mitigate the way retaliation punishes FT #1 (yes? yes?).

inb4 l2p qq.
Cuz Anet meant for you to never use the skills they designed for you, right? /sarcasm
(edited by Chaba.5410)
I’d go for power. Also, toughness is a much more valuable stat to engineer than vitality.
[TUNE] we couldn’t hear you earlier but it was very obvious you were putting a lot of gusto into the performance :p
[TUNE] is my new favorite guild.
Florg, use a shield.
Would love it to be a new field unique to engineer: tar field. Maybe blasting it gives area torment or something.
NERF has at least two engineers with this rune. One is an FT engi and the other specializes in popping Elixir X, the build really being defined by the rune. We are waiting for the nerfhammer…
yup im the elixir x engi
and pretty much use and pray for tornado(wink wink eles) to wreck zergs however i dont really have a build specified for the runes my build is pretty much bunker grenadier
if Anything all this runes have done is highlight how broken confusion as a condition really is .
I didn’t know you are using them too! Add another to the list… LOL!
[NERF] Fort Engineer is looking for a 5v5 practice. We are noobs so we should be easy.
I’ll say it again, the wxp mastery skills continue to cheapen the engineer mortar elite. It’s like they take all the good ideas and fixes that mortar needs and stick them into a mastery skill. UGH!

In other words, you have to spend trait points that could be spent elsewhere in order to get the engineer’s best mitigation. How about adding stability to some skill and increase build diversity?
I wish I had a nickel for every tooltip that was either incorrect or missing information.
Elixir X is there for you, until a smart mesmer rips that boon.
He only RP trolls.
engie meets ele in open field > fight goes bad for ele > ele rides the lightning to disengage > engie instantly closes the gap while laughing maniacally and puts a burny boot in there face.
engie being chased by angry mob > engie runs to cliff ledge > engie rocket boots off cliff to other side > engie turns around and magnets one of the baddies off the cliff for a cheap kill > /laugh
enough said :/
I suspect sooner or later they will remove the ability to “fly” with rb, rtl used to function the same way but it doesn’t anymore. Then again I don’t know if there are enough engies to get this noticed and put on the radar as being an issue or not. Personally I don’t think rtl should have been changed this way, and I certainly don’t want rb to go this route, but who knows what anet thinks about when they get to swinging their nerfhammer.
It isn’t flying. It’s like a leap. Warriors and guardians can leap from one cliff ledge to another as well. I don’t know if Ride the Lightning was ever intended to be a leap or not.
I love how posts like this always come up. I posted one myself awhile ago after trying mortar a bit. Maybe with enough posts, Anet will finally fix it.
I also love how these wxp mastery skills seem to either have what mortar needs or does something similar to mortar, like the latest AoE heal on treb mastery. Wouldn’t it be nice if our AoE mortar heal had a water field? Or what about oil mastery that gives some protections to the person on the oil? What is the deal with giving stuff to wxp mastery skills that the engineer elite should be doing?! Way to cheapen the mortar elite even more.
Add among things that need changing: greatly increase the radius of mortar #1. Either buff the range or buff the turret’s base toughness and hp so it doesn’t die under 1-hit AoE.
[NERF] only had like seven people, about half roaming around on their own, 4 if you count only those on voice comms. So I guess we gave good fights, but it felt more like just giving loot bags to overwhelming numbers, like the 3-NERF yolo rush of your flank north of longview. I missed recording at least one of these good fights. /shrug

So many “fixes” made by removing something… Underwater rocket boots, growth on Toss Elixir S. You’d think that if the stealth on Toss Elixir S had the same problem with transformations, they’d remove it? No…
Yea, the stun breaker was removed from Rocket Boots. It now clears immobilize, cripple, and chill and provides one of the best escapes in the game. Not missing the old rocket boots at all.
The cripple, immobilize and chill clear was on there all along. They removed the stunbreak and aimed it forward. And if things dont botch up, it wont self-CC at the end anymore (but anyone that used it will know its animation bugs out from time to time).
They also cut the cooldown.
Eh, goes to show how much I used the old Rocket Boots. Not missing them…
Yikes! I should learn to read. Thought it was three different guilds.

We’re already set up to fight GF this week, so it looks like dodging on both sides is moot at this point. Don’t you pay attention to your bookings?? :P
I look forward to seeing you guys out there.
Edit: well then, enjoy your delucious after work beer
not on GvG site that I saw
And I hope you fellas beat GF so I can trololol my guildies….I refused to rep until they came back and kitten d NS.
It is “unofficial”. As in, “dodging”.
There is even a video floating around here about it.
Elixir X is beast!
You just have to use it properly like any other skill. What you should be talking trash about is that useless pile of dog %#@& they call Mortar. Now that’s an elite that I wouldn’t use if it was a regular utility skill.
Here’s how you use Elixir X:
Trait Potent Elixirs, Fast Acting Elixirs, HGH
Equip Runes of Lyssa
Tactic Active the following as your zerg makes a push into another zerg or if roaming wait for a thief to pounce on you:
- Activate Elixir U
- Immediately activate Elixir X
- Maim, mutilate, slaughter
- Pick up loot bag(s)
OMG shush. If everyone got the hint on Elixir X, it will get nerfed!
P.S. Drop potent elixirs for elite supplies and pick up 409…
(edited by Chaba.5410)
Yea, it just doesn’t seem like stability on transformations are supposed to be removable…
I don’t think engineer was meant to not have access to stability. The stun/immob mitigation traits are recent. Juggernaut gave reliable stability to engineer once upon a time. I bet it was removed bc of kits… Same with why rune of tormenting was nerfed with icd bc of medkit. An engineer with Juggernaut could just spam equipping the kit to regain stability if it were boon-stripped. That is op. Unfortunately Anet wasn’t sure how to fix that other than remove it and we see they still have problems with remembering our kit-spamming abilities.
It would be nice to get some better access to stability while avoiding the kit-spamming. There really is no reason why engineer couldn’t have better access to stability. I think even necro can get it with death shroud and a trait; notice that ds can’t be spammed like a kit.
P.s. Warrior does have counter-cc traits:dogged march, mobile strike or whatever it is called…
(edited by Chaba.5410)
Camera, damage and radius, the fact that it can be aoe’d before you even have a chance to use it, range, and some say also the lack of a close-range defense mechanism.
Come on FA! Stop running back to your towers when you outnumber us 4 to 1.
Maybe it’s just because we’re fighting T1 and T2 servers more and more, but I’m seeing two pretty big trends these days when it comes to smaller groups and/or havoc groups. First, T1 and T2 servers seem to now classify havoc/small man as 10+. Seven or so may be guildies running together but there is always a few pugs leeching as well. T3 and below typically consider a single group to be small man/havoc. We consider 10 to be a mini zerg, especially since you can place two superior rams on a door and 10 folks is plenty to take an objective without being all ninja-like.
Second, most single groups nowadays consist of primarily the same make-up everytime: 2 guardians and/or 2 warriors with the remaining being Necros/Elementalists. Your picture is a perfect example of this. A Mesmer may be thrown in the mix on occasion but only for veil or mass invisibility.
I guess folks really can’t complain these days when we only see thieves and BM rangers roaming solo since they don’t really have a place in the meta mix. Most Engineers will get left out since Necos/Elementalists do a better job with AoE’s, and Guardians/Warriors can stay alive much longer. And let’s face it, the Engineer is a hard class to play, with the others being much easier to accomplish the same things that an Engineer can.
It kind of sucks for players who aren’t interested in the meta classes as they will get tired of always fighting the same thing. It would be nice if things got changed up a bit.
Just my opinion.
Engineer players are op.
This pretty much sums up my experience solo roaming this weekend. Maybe next week…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFKgiMwwcC0If you want 1vs1’s go behind the windmill or go to spvp solo queue.
This is WvW, most players are specced for group play.
Your necro hits like a wet noodle. So does mine, but yah…lol
K, I’ll just keep killing all your yaks whenever I’m on since your players are unable to defend them. Enjoy.
I think I’m fine with that, I don’t think I’m too concerned with out yaks during this matchup.
Feel free to run into any of our roaming groups, like HL or RED and see if you can match up. Or track down Florg or Kiroshi and see if you can condi kill some pro engineers…they are always roaming…
I’ll await a video. :P
PPSsst. Koroshi may have transferred to CD last week, given some of his latest videos. If it was because of the JQ mega-zergs we faced, can’t say I blame him.
OMG, do not touch Elixer X! Fix Mortar.
P.S. 84 second cooldown, yo!
The reset is near and it’s become clear that Maguuma is what JQ fears. Hiding in towers as we call them cowards they build more Ac’s as we ask come out please. So it’s back to T1 so you can spam 1 but here’s the week in review from Mag to JQ.
We in JQ and FA will start caring about MAG when you reach six figure score. When you guys reach it looooooooool
You don’t speak for FA. Move along.
Irrelevant.
If hardware can’t handle 100% usage, it isn’t the game’s fault.
Irrelevant to the ORIGINAL point that software can place greater demands on hardware.
Chaba original response: “GW2 cannot alter fan speeds, but it can place greater demands on the hardware than it did before.”
Solar in a later response to Chaba: “The game has just changed to a point where it demands more thus showing up said hardware cooling fault.”
This is main reason i dont game on laptops, unless its a full out high spec overpriced alienware gaming laptop,
Or an Origin PC! They’re spectacular
That’s what I have!
rolls eyes
That’s right users. It is your fault that the game places greater demand on your hardware.
Yes Kyllaa.
I never argued against underlying cooling issues. I felt that what was being ignored was the fact that the patch caused a change to the load the game places on hardware. Maybe I can make this clearer with quotes from my post and Solar’s post.

SolarNova,
As you have continued to miss the point I am making. Look at the second post in this thread. That guy been running at 80C normally and after patch his system is running way hotter. Generic responses skip over such posts. Say, hey, wait a minute, you’ve checked all the normal things to check and you’re still getting lower fps and overheating. Hrm, must be something with the patch.
As a computer technician for 30 years, you have an understanding that one of the first questions you ask is “What changed?”. When it is the game alone that has changed, especially when there are changes to how the game deals with graphics, the typical canned technical support responses cannot be taken seriously.
And why the talk about HP laptops? The OP said he has an ASUS gaming laptop and cleans his fans regularly. Somehow the reported facts are being ignored.
“So in this example the GPU went to 110c, and it was only noticed becouse it shut down, which only happens at extreme temps.
Now say another game comes along and puts a high load on it, not as much as GW2 but still a high load, and the GPU runs constantly at 95c. "
Impossible though!, you say as software cannot cause hardware to overheat. No, not at ALL! </sarcasm>
I’ll stop wasting my time with condescending people who automatically assume they know more about computers than the person they are responding to. Good day, sir.
(edited by Chaba.5410)
:) Moar coffee!
FWIW, the game auto-detects the settings to very high for the card I have yet I have to normally (pre-patch) turn them down to low just to maintain around 25 FPS in the large WvWvW battles. Post-patch, on same lowbie settings, I’m getting down to 7 fps just from standing around, not even in a large battle. I can’t imagine what it must be like for lower end computers.
Fixed it for you…
“can’t deliver 30 fps consistently through all content on even the lowest graphics settings using today’s best consumer hardware”
Did you reset your graphics settings?
