I have been on Blackgate since day 1 and I am so annoyed by this, the last 2 weeks have been terrible in my opinion. The only thing Blackgate needed was some help in overnight support, not every power house guild and bandwagoner from every other server, this has literally ruined the “Beastgate” community feel and reputation we once had, huge things with small numbers is what we were all about, there was a reason why so many other servers looked forward to fighting us over the last couple months and that was because they were guarenteed a fair fun fight. Sad to see so many original day 1 Blackgaters leaving for other servers now and many more will be leaving in the upcoming days for what I have been told by friends in multiple guilds. RIP Beastgate

Isle of Janthir’s motto is represented by one guild and its name is fitting

The problem with Blackgate is that it has become the most stacked server in this game’s existence. What is disgusting about it is that given the opportunity, to make a healthier WvWvW reality, everyone simply stacked on BG instead of actually spreading out to promote competition.

- Blackgate received Old Denravi guilds = that alone would’ve been sufficient to guarantee competitiveness in Tier 1
- Blackgate got a massive EU Alliance DEYS composed of multiple guilds = that alone guarantees them to win Tier 1 since no other server has a sizeable EU force
- ET SEA guilds left and then went on to Blackgate = this is where it’s getting ridiculous, that everyone’s stacked on that server

and this is thrown on top of all the NA and Oceanics already there

Blackgate has become the most stacked server we have ever seen and it is ridiculous and utterly completely disgusting imnho

SoS would win it all eventually due to their Oceanics and PRX spearheading their NA hours

CD would make it respectable controlling the maps at NA primetime

SoR would make it interesting but come in 3rd in a close match

but the way it’s going now with 3 orbs, SoR is poised to maybe take this whole thing!

still a good match though, just hope CD can pick it back up otherwise ..

and on a sidenote, special shoutout to Janthir I am always amazed at how much we do WITHOUT orb buffs.. crazy!

I’ve never liked the Friday reset tbh, I’ve always felt it should be a Wednesday or Thursday reset. Friday resets heading into the weekend HEAVILY favor overpopulated servers with 24-7 coverage and this is why nearly every single matchup that we ever see is a runaway blowout.

It would be better to have the reset on Wed or Thu leading into the weekend rather than these Friday resets which simply leads to matches being over in 2 days.

Take it from someone who has battled against you countless times in early NA hours along with Never Die [ND]. I do not want to see SBI hurt if you leave so thank you for staying there.

I recently transferred to Tarnished Coast after all the bandwagoners decided to swarm Jade Quarry. All this week we’ve been WAY down on the scoreboard (server mismatch with Blackgate) but everyone still brings the pain every day. There’s been no quitting and no complaining. Earlier today we were planning on how to get our orb back, but only for the sake of server pride. Honestly this is the most fun I’ve had playing WvW to date (and we’re losing!). Plus the chat box gets hilarious from time to time when the RP’ers get into it.

why? The Island has been the one constant since the game has launched

it’s the gatekeeper of tier 1, always been the 5th ranked server and ALWAYS been crushed by whoever the leftover tier 1 happened to be that week JQ/SBI/ET

The Island remains, keeps fighting, doing what it can with what it has..

it’s not easy losing week in and week out to overwhelming tier 1 opposition or to servers with far better coverage than ours, but Janthir is the 1 server who has kept fighting and pushing forward

the real question is not which server fights the hardest, the question is: Which server does the most with what they have?

Congrats on the influx of guilds freshly joining in on Kain because they couldn’t hack it in a higher bracket. I truly hope that you all do well but going from barely holding on to slingshot where you are isn’t really an accomplishment in my opinion.. you did have to work for it.. you guys got good transfers.

I’ve been taking advantage of server hopping this week (started out on Dragonbrand>ET>HOD>IOJ). I will say there is a common theme among the first three servers I was on…they have all experienced an exodus of people in WvW guilds which has dramatically put them at a strategic disadvantage.

I was shocked I was able to transfer to IOJ. I wanted to get a perspective from the other side. On the positive side I did not notice a great deal of boasting or, chest bumping because of IOJ’s lead. Overall people seemed pretty friendly and took pride in their server.

Additionally, I witnessed first hand the numbers advantage IOJ had while almost simultaneously repelling garrison attacks from ET and CD on its East and West gates in the ET borderlands (I think it was ET). I also witnessed if not around the clock full coverage…decent enough coverage to hold onto a sizeable portion of every map.

Based on my limited experience on IOJ I really think they will be competitive over the next few weeks. I have yet to experience a long queue (however many might not be logging into WvW because the result isn’t in doubt).

Congrats IOJ on your success. Good luck next week taking on JQ.

we’re also pretty low pop and our queues are near instant

to be honest, Janthir lacks coverage and needs more EU guilds and Asian guilds to come join The Island

Janthir has been the one constant and at its core are pvp’ers and killers who love the battle more than anything. If you’re a EU wuvwuv guild thinking of moving..

What I proposed is just a simple idea (basically that it just seems weird to me that supply routes are totally NPC controlled and automatic). But what I wrote is by no means a complete plan. I’m sure others, like you have, can come up with tons of other great ideas and improvements too!

Yeah the current implementation of the dolyaks have always felt wrong to me. A dedicated squad are pretty much guaranteed to kill off the dolyak if they’re determined. That thing just die too fast. Defending it sucks and nobody want to do it. I am very glad you brought this topic up for discussion.

Denravi is alive and well. So is ET. It’s called Blackgate.

The reason HoD and ET servers died is simply because everyone stacked up on Blackgate.

Throw in the most EU guilds out of all NA servers and all you have is the same situation as before

One server with complete dominant coverage.

IoJ may just be that special server that is immune to the “tier 1 curse”, but if history is bound to repeat itself, then it will indeed happen to IoJ. That or IoJ will be stuck losing to JQ week after week like SBI and eventually be knocked down by another server or JQ finally busts.

AT ITS CORE, since this game has launched, Isle of Janthir is the one constant. We are always the 5th server, the gatekeepers to unbeatable Denravi and always faced the leftover 4th Tier-1 server. Be it JQ, SBI or ET.. Janthir is used to getting crushed by these servers.

What has kept us going is the mutual fight and struggle we all go thru during these battles.. we keep fighting regardless because we know that we do to others what Tier 1 does to us.

Losing does not affect Janthir’s core.. otherwise we would have been broken long ago.

That is Janthir in a nutshell.. Fighters. Always have been..
