Papa’s Lady Luck- Necro
(HELL)
Thinik Warrior is better.
More dps
Itll definitely be faster
Id say necro with minions
What professions do you play?
My problem with condis is they are supposed to be dot but in this game they are basically bursts due to heavy handed condis and heavy handed cleanses…condis should be more about gaining stacks and high uptime then it currently is
No endure pain, no adrenal health, no berserker stance seems to be more unable to get a kill as it will be dying soo fast…if you want to see a truly broken gunflame build check out my roaming build:
Its not quite as much damage as a lot of gunflame builds but it should have a really powerful hps even without rousing resilience. Should have descent condi clear/condi blocking ability with beserker stance, brawlers recovery, and cleansing ire. Everytime you interupt with gunflame you get a nice heal as well thanks to sigil of draining
Edit: can run sig of might over signet of the dolyak for more dps over survivalbility
(edited by Chase.2798)
Jesus guys, to all of you complaining that this will ‘kill’ warrior… warriors been dead for a long time, but if you want to keep your condi warr alive, you can just use carrion… same stats, you will just give up the toughness. I think removing merc amulet was a good move, just gave you too much of everything.
I think sage ammy warr could be descent as well
As chrono U can try to to use Destroyer or Sage. U will be more fragile but still can get some damage from condis.
As core mes U’ll be dead without merc.
How about carrion?
vitality should -% condi like armor does to direct damage, some will pipe up saying it does but no it doesnt, not if healing doesnt scale with vitality.
Or a new stat called defiance that can reduce condi damage on the same scale toughness and a new boon called detention that works like protection…almost all power builds are direect damage dealers and must have power precision and ferocity where most condi classes dont even take condi duration and instead just take condi damage
use destroyer amulet, play hybrid build. Destroyer amulet is actually very strong.
No condition damage = no hybrid pressure.
Destroyer’s amulet is power/precision/ferocity/condition damage…..fyi…
RIP Burn Guard too? It was a fun distraction. In the right comps it could even work. More of a toy build but now less fun options for guardians again. I have a swell of pity for everyone who mains guard right now not necessarily because of this but in general they’re in such a kitten situation in almost all game modes.
Glad I’m not the only one. Wow. There goes my kittening burn guard. Had some promising results in unranked. I was like maby. Just maby this could work. But nope. Guess i won’t get the chance to find this out in ranked. On the other hand necro’s and mesmers are a lot squishier now. So yeah. And how funny, to do change this right before the season starts.
I played burn guard for the complete last season. Yes, it was never meta but who gives a crap? I always played guard in pvp, and I seriously fell in love with that build. It just so feels so kitten good killing the same power rev three times in a row because he dodges the traps and doesn’t realize that the burn is what is killing him.
With the necro I can just go back to playing vipers amulett, but a guard with vipers is just dead meat. Mercenary already felt incredibly squishy at times, with medium health pool and all. Now I have no idea what build I could run with a guard what will still be somewhat viable. Any suggestions?
Maybe try this build from the test section of metabattle…it was using mercenary before but they changed it to sages’ ammy…
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Dragonhunter_-_Burning_Arrows
Edit: provides some added sustain via healing power and more vitality
I tried running knights ammy with hoelbrek runes…it seemed to work pretty well not sure if it was a ton better with condis then the meta tho
If guardians gets the warriors health then warriors want the guardians access to aegis, if ele gets the warriors toughness we want their group support, and if thieves get our vitality we want their stealth…basically the extra health and toughness is what gives warrior any chance…it is our defensive ability like an extra dodge roll/stealth/aegis/2nd health bar/ or unlimited heals is for other classes
You conveniently left out the insane amount of regen warr can have(the same as druids Troll Unguent actually), the high amount of blocks, condi imunity or lots of condi cleanse(depending on build), damage immunity on utility and trait, dead or alive and good mobility skills.
This is not a nerf/buff warr thread. Whatever balance issues you find should be fixed and are definitely not an excuse for the fact that the rest of the professions are pigeonholed into one or two amulets.
Those builds might be pigeonholed but the progfession is pigeonholed due to a lack of balance between skills…look at guardian there is basically 2 types of usable utilities in pvp traps (only good against scrubs) and meditations (only some are good and have to be traited and still arent as good as some utilities)….and one of the biggest issues plaguing pvp is the amount of abilities some proffessions have access to compared to others…mesmer f1-f5 while war has f1 (f2 with berserker). Yes i did leave out some defenses on warrior but i also left out some on other classes, i was trying to keep things simple. I think maybe a boost of all classes to 15k health…leaving top proffessions where they are could be helpful for the ones with 11k hp and not kill warrior.
So, we all know mercenary got removed because it was an easy nerf to mesmer, without it impacting other professions’ main builds too much(except necro, poor guys) and we all know the next amulet: carrion. Why not viper or sinister? While i’m sure some will attempt that, you will generally find that you’re way too squishy. Even if they pull it off, it will be due to their active defenses.
What about warr? Well, since he has 19200 hp and 2160 armor, he can pick whichever amulet he wants. At the moment, warr has the greatest build variety of all classes – not meta(but I wouldn’t exclude him either), but viable – a variety that Anet should strive to represent on each profession.
If you look at guard, with 11600 hp, he barely has a choice(excluding the huge amount of useless utilities and traits), he is pigeonholed into marauder. That’s all the diversity guard gets. Same for ele – cleric, same for thief – marauder. What I’m trying to get at is that the discrepancies between armor and health are forcing all the classes except warr into specific amulets. That’s why you don’t see many zerker thiefs out there, or any sinister rangers.
What I’m proposing is normalizing all health in PvP to 19200. Yes, there will be a powercreep for most classes, since it will allow people to take more offensive amulets, but I feel this is the first natural step to truly diversify builds in PvP.
I’m sure some people will give necro as an example, since he already has 19200 hp – why doesn’t necro use sinister? I’m afraid this has more to do with the profession design than anything else. They have no active defenses, thy’re just a big health sponge and a form of damage mitigation is required. As I see it, it’s a balance issue.
And it would truly require a huge balancing effort from Anet, because in the current setup, some classes would be broken. After more useless traits/skills get repaired and after the next batch of elite specs is released we will have many more build options. It would be a shame to be pigeonholed into the same amulet.
Probably a mesmer. Lots of utility that translates good in all aspects of wvw
Cant say I have ever seen a decent mesmer frontliner. Or a backliner for that matter. Last I checked mesmers held a very niche role in the zerg, counting for maybe 1 out of every 20-30 player and the rarest class in the game outside of its primary use – perplexity roamer. Once, it was a true backliner with glamour confusion bombs but that was a loooooong time ago.
How on earth this suddenly translate to best class for every role I have absolutely no idea.
Mesmers have wells now(tbh have no idea how good they are being i have never played mesmer)…i would say they are far off from best frontline tho(even full defensive would be hard to stay alive
Anyone know if leeching is fixed yet?
I voted bad even though i really enjoy watching the matches there had been way too many disconnects and problems week in and week out
1) Increase Envoy of Exuberance’s protection duration up to 5-6 seconds. It also provides 2.5 seconds of quickness.
2) Crystal Hibernation can be channeled on the move, clears 1 condition per second, and reflects projectiles.
You can detonate the shield early to grant allies aegis and chill or weaken nearby enemies.
Voila, people might actually use this thing.
People do use it….it is used a lot in pvp actually
Mesmer and Ele can currently fulfill every role, niche, or requirement, simply due to utility, versatility, and damage potential. Mesmer has portal, but Ele has aura share, so it’s a tie.
I agree with this but would put mesmer over ele in roaming for the simple fact it has a access to stealth which is a nice eacape in wvw
I love guard and think is very underused…that and glyph of the tides
Gotta remove em all’
They did it because almost every condi class was running it and it provided too much without them giving up any defenses…if they want to go full hybrid there is vipers…this hurt warriors, mesmers and necros output
Played a little bit with Sage and Berserker Runes. It was pretty tanky still with nice bursts.
Itll either be sages’ or wanderers im guessing
I notice that longbow is being used more lately. Like others that have, yes I’ve seen its effectiveness on points, but I can’t help to ask, is condi warr with longbow countered by druids?
I’ve played a match with two druids on the opposing team with mace/shield + longbow. The druid builds I’ve encountered seem to just heal and cleanse through whatever burns and cc I put out. Any warrs experienced this?
P.S: Longbow is my least used weapon, I hardly use it at all. As a matter of fact, I hate using it! Melee all the f-n way!
Druids are really strong atm and can clear all condis when going into ancestral grace, so yes they kind of counter all condi classes
Every single team did have a mesmer, druid, and a rev tho with the other 2 a combo of war, necro, engi, ele, thief, or guardian
To be fair, thinking that every class is now meta should be deceptive and naive.
Rev and Mesmer are almost mandatory; Mesmer ads a huge amount of utility to the team gameplay and the difference in map control between team with and without was pretty evident yesterday. Then you have Ele and Ranger: is not mandatory to have both, but at least one of them is required and if you have them your sustain will be excellent is n vs n skirmishes. Alternatively, Scrapper can replace one of them or fight for the 5th place. And talking about the last slot, Thief is pretty much the best choice: paired with Rev you have a huge spike in burst potential, and combined with Mesmer you will have huge map control.
So that’s all: Mes, Rev, then Ele, Ranger and Thief; you can swap one of the later ones by a Scrapper, but so far no place for Necro, Warrior or Guardian. We saw some in the last night matches, but just because personal choices (players who main them), not due they are strong.
I agree except i would say:
S tier(needed): mesmer, rev
A tier (need at least 1): ele, druid
A- tier: thief
B+ tier: necro, warrior
B tier: (engi)
B- tier: guardian
I would say best comp would be necro over thief tho due to unblockable marks, that constant condi application through blocks is huge in team fights…i put engi lower because they are just too easily overpowered now, they can last a while but provide no pressure unlike necro and warrior who both can sustain awhile but also provides tons of pressure
Edit: also if you dont take ele and ranger both i think engi becomes a lot better choice
Is that what every pro league team runs? Are the devs not concerned of why that is?
Actually every single proffession was played and a lot had multiple builds played even if they were similar…warrior had at least 2 on the day(between na and eu), rev had at least 3….
Every single team did have a mesmer, druid, and a rev tho with the other 2 a combo of war, necro, engi, ele, thief, or guardian
If running cleansing ire id run smash brawler for reduction on condi clears
pvp
sigil of generosity + purity(i wish you could use sigil of cleansing)
invocation(make sure to use roiling mists)/retribution/herald.
staff+sword shield
cavalier amulet
you can pick what rune to use but i use rune of melandruswap legends often to remove condi.
only use your glint heal when there is +3 condis with high stack.dont fight condi mesmer/thief 2v1 as they will kite you as you lack range.
Why cavaliers over knights?
Both provide same toughness and power but knights is precision(more crits) over cavaliers ferocity (stronger crits) then use a rune like hoelbrek…i think it would work avout the same for survivalbility and you will be hitting much harder on average
I think having continum split not effect elites would have made a lot more sense or maybe a 1s daze added to moa when not split
Head butt is fine, leave it as it is.
While i dont love the 1s self stun i have to agree it is fine and without it would be broken af
Anet had no reason to reset wvw, I feel Anet did it out of their own convenience. i don’t see why they couldn’t wait til the end of the wvw week to drop the patch in. i was invested in last matchup of wvw. so i was annoyed that it ended short.
so here some question’s i want ask anyone in regards to wvw match making
considering the WvW match history is fresh and new with the rating still the same1. is 4-5 days of wvw accurate data for this current matchup and future matchups?
2. is 7-9 days of wvw also accurate data for future matchups?
3. do we have room for data to be vastly different in general?reading this section from the stickies
“Worlds that win, especially by a large margin, will have their rating increased by a larger amount than normal.”i would like to think that alone would play some part of it. but then again im not a dev matchmaking in general is a hell of a thing to deal with but i still wanted to talk about it
Its in beta…none of these scores matter atm
From what i hear its quite amazing on interrupt builds
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Ranger
You can find a better healer build here im sure take a look if you havent yet
What if they didn’t do team deathmatch and it was all solo with random spawn points?
Some classes are much better duelers then other atm classes are not balanced for 1v1s
Im pretty sure most if not all teams were running a reaper in the AG midseason invitational still this past weekend i havent watched all of it yet tho so not 100% sure
Yes thank you 15chars
If you click skills with your mouse (and thus are also looking at your skill bar) you’re doomed.
Propper keybinds are a must. That or invest in an MMO mouse (like a razer naga) and play until you have the muscle memory to hit the right buttons with your thumb etc.
If you are familiar, running a sound build is a must. Knowing your class and what each skill does is a must. Then knowing when/how to engage/disengage is a must.
Pretty much you need to be a pro if you want to succeed XD That or just play a mindless spammy class/spec that’ll hold you up while you get more comfortable with the general flow of incoming kitten flying your way.
When you break it down and look at it like this, you’re probably screwed.
Naa I disagree man, I pretty much smash my keyboard with my face on this game and kill things, I don’t think it’s hard at all but it is VERY different from other games skills so if you’re not used to it you should keep your distance from the enemy and shoot at em from far away and bring defensive skills too cuz you can get 1 shotted on here very easily if you’re not careful. Also never go anywhere alone ALWAYS bring back up if you can that’s very helpful since a lota people like to zerg you on here. That’s why rangers good if no 1 wants to help you at least you have your pet.
I’m sure if I knew what class/s you main/play this would make perfect sense. Since with certain classes a face smash approach wouldn’t.
I did look through your post history, but the only thing there is four pages of chatter about sexy armor XD
Lolz, yessssssssss this game needs sexier armor does it not? Whatever you do you must do in style otherwise whats the point in doing it. And I don’t really main anything I play everything equally except thief I kinda hate thief and I suck at it so I feel sorry for whoever gets teamed with me when I’m on thief xD But if you ask my statistics thing it says engineer is my favorite profession and legacy of the foefire is my favorite map.
The biggest thing is build choice without a reliable build and us seeing your skill level its hard to help you, i would recommend dueling someone to practice and posting your favorite builds here so people can help you find better builds if you arent running good ones. Posting a video here could help too but if you do prepare for all the supperiority complexes…try to find someone you know you cant beat who knows your class well so they can help you with combos and you can work on reaching their level of play and remember practice makes perfect so it is okay to lose if you are learning and practicing. Atm being ranked is closed i am doing a lot of this myself, trying to 1v3 on my bunker druid to try and figure out how to last as long as possible, trying to work on my rotations and keeping myself in good postion when enemies are coming off of spawn, and working on utilizing fields more when not solo queing for full team effect.
I think you quoted the wrong person, I’m not the 1 asking for help I would never….. I’m just trying to help the OP, but I think hes going to be fine now
Ahh my bad XD

Base warrior is good now since patch, hambow or greatbow is fun to play
Between seasons
A month break i believe
I’d like to see that poll with 10000+ votes to actually show the community wants DM?
Never gonna have enough traffic in the pvp forum tho sadly…
Post to reddit
I dont do redit lol but feel free to do it for me
In the begining when you got close to that keep you did an amazing job of kiting and using skills to escape, good video thanks
I was playing Rampager Longbow & Sword/Torch before HoT.
Now I am playing Rampager Longbow & Staff after HoT.Roaming has never been more fun for me.
What is this “healer monk” thing lol.why use a staff if your not healing ( staff heals or Celestial).
Staff has great utility skills, a blast/vapor escape, a bind, and a water field/projectile blocker
Is anything ever be done about Elementalist and Guardian regarding the huge amount of unusable utilities?
These two professions currently possess the biggest number of unusable utilities across the board, out of all 9 professions and all game mode, with ele clearly coming on top as the profession with the worst number of utilities and elites
This wasn’t meant to be an ele solo thread but I feel the need to continue on it for now.
Still about the elementalist, let’s not mention the fact that ele has received an intrinsical number of nerfs out of all profession that have killed multiple builds since launch, the class also it’s the only one that has a number of utilities left unupdated since launch, utilities that actually got nerfed to the ground before launch at the end of the beta weekend 2; utilities that have not been used both in PvE or PvP since then.
Talking about arcane skills, from arcane blast to arcane shield, these utilities not only have really pathetic effects and no useful traits linked to them but..they also have ridiculous CD (like 30s CD for a skill that does less dmg than a war axe auto and ofc the utility does just that ..dmg; there is also arcane shield which barely block a revenant auto but it’s on 75s CD
And what about :
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Arcane_Power and compare it to
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Sigil_of_IntelligenceLet’s move to conjure skills, who can’t forget about this?
Was it fun, unnecessary?…..Doesn’t even matter, while not being a dungeon runner I can see how the nerf was needed but..a big but…were the conjure made useful at all since then?…no ofc not.
Left there to rot, no work necessary, the angry and petty community has been satisfied, the devs gave them the blood they were craving..the dev job is done….“mic drop”
Finally we have signets and glyphs, they’re sporadically used in pve and just few of them ( signet of fire and glyph of power/storms )
The signets on ele are again the worst respect to all other professions that have access to this type of utilities , in most cases the active is bland and really weak, somehow compensate by a somehow useful passive ( signet of fire/earth)
The glyphs, again huge CD and pitiful effects in most cases( or no effects at all in case of Less Glyph of Elementals ), to add salt to the injury eles still have inscription trait not working but I guess it was of primary importance to first fix “flash-freeze” as we don’t want the petty and vocal minority to shout nerf for too long, do we?!
The frustration and displeasement are an all time high, the ele community has been asking for years now for decent changes on the utilities for this class and also for the introduction of a viable power build.
I’m not that arrogant to say that I can speak for the whole ele community but..I do believe that the majority of players who bought GW2 and mained an ele after that, originally thought they would have been able to play something similar to this:
And what we’ve got in return is something completely different and definitely not wanted
A lot of classes seemed to have a lot of unbalanced utilities…too bad it would be fun to see more then 14 builds on 9 classes in a pvp season
Just wanted to share a fact about every game that has too much cheesy mechanics including gw2. This is the way to kill the fun from every pvp mode.
I think a lot of this is coming from fun to play non meta builds, i play a 1v1 warrior lockdown condi build in pvp during the offseasons for the pure hilarity of it…however in ranked i think it will be subpar
Whenever I log onto to play PvP these days, it’s just a blowout. Match after match of getting just shredded by coordinated teams of players using the most meta of meta builds they can find. Even when I win, I don’t get that feeling of satisfaction. I generally don’t know why we won, and usually didn’t contribute to the win.
Basically, I love Guild Wars 2. I’m not a fanatical player. I play when I have time, and I tend to stick with PvE, but in most other games, I love PvP, and tend to be able to hold my own. However, I feel like this game’s PvP was hard to understand before Heart of the Thorns, and now it’s just completely beyond me. Nowadays, I log in, and spend most of my time dead. I don’t even get time to figure out my mistakes because most fights end with me blowing up in half second, and I don’t even have time to decipher which of the 10 ridiculous particle effects killed me. Readability is a big issue for me.
I’m willing to invest time into a game, but generally that game has to be fun on some level first. I keep giving this game’s multiplayer a shot, because my friend and I were big fans of Guild Wars 1’s PvP, but we both feel there is no place for the casual player anymore. The point of entry is too high. There’s a mountain of mechanics to go through. The game is blinding fast, and requires incredible reflexes and precise dexterity to hit combos.
If I could log on, and have an even match where I felt my opponents and teammates were at a similar level of experience, I could slowly get into this. Did anybody else really love GW1 PvP, but hasn’t found any enjoyment from 2’s?
I know this is whining, but honestly, I just miss having a Guild Wars like game to play PvP in, and it sorta feels like all of the people of average video game ability have been sorta waysided in favor of this small, dedicated fanbase. Great if you are one of those people, but I wish for the days when Guild Wars was more inclusive, and I feel there is room for both audiences to exist without sacrificing in quality for either group.
Also, advice is always fine. My friend nor I never last long enough to ever figure out anything beyond how to wait for the death timer to come back up.
What type of build are you running?
The old D/D ele is too weak without Celestial to carry it. Now that Celestial is removed, we can objectively look at the build and buff it accordingly (mainly the damage part and active defense, don’t buff the sustain).
What are the main 4 stats needed to make d/d ele viable? Anyway a 4 stat ammy could work?
Edit: even if it means adding a new oneD/d ele was only viable because of sustain and might stacking. Even if they had the optimal stats (vitality toughness healing) it doesn’t matter since might stacking was nerfed and revs can get the same amount of might from pressing a button.
IMO the days of d/d being a good damage class is over.
I’d much rather anet focused their efforts on making s/x a viable dps build.
Have you tried something like Mercenary ammy with runes of divinity and might stacking sigils? Or if your damage is good enough trade out your runes for a defensive or hp runes?

I think if you gave moa a lil more toughness and some more health and possibly a stun break moa would be closer to where it was pre-hot…
So, unused.
XD
So its not an insta-kill now which it should be with any descent team in a team fight
Edit: notice i said closer and not the same too btwIt’s not insta kill now. So it’d be even less insta kill with boons, stabos, stun breaks etc. Thus..
Unused.
I didnt say boons, stabos? Or stunbreakS i said 1 stun break and like 5 % more health and toughness….and with a decent team anything without healing and no stun breaks, blocks, or any form of defense should be a kill…
