Another matchup in which the best night pvd train wins. The good thing this week is loot doesn’t run as much as last week. If there would be a points per kill count RS would be #1. So have fun @ night capture without RS

Not sure about that:
- BB: 42,6% score not from ticks.
- SFR: 36,6%.
- RS: 35%.

http://gw2score.com/index.php?action=currentscore&sort=hidden_points_percent&ad=desc

Also, no reason to QQ about nightcapping times if your server is famous to be much stronger during mornings and weekends than most other servers…

I’m not sure this is a good measure of who’s stronger. First off 35% of SFR points is probably the same number as 43% of BB score or really close. But there are so many more things to look for that i dont think its worth comparing.

What is the general view of buying guilds

I personally find it quite pathetic.
But then again, if guilds are willing to sell themselves it is their loss I suppose.

If some server want to buy your guild then you did a good job.

If i remember correctly the current maps are the biggest ANet can make at the moment.
I like the idea of getting points only on caping. Also if you defend an objective for an hour but lose it, you have 20 mins to reclaim it. If you do so the enemy server gets no points. If you defend it for 2 hours, you get 25 min to reclaim it. Something like that to give defenders a reason to protect their stuff.

I dont like the idea of kills giving points. Just imagine the hate all the lvl 1-79 characters in WvW will recieve.

I don’t understand why everyone want to punish NA/Oceanic players playing in EU or vice versa. Why should they suffer for playing WvW when EU players sleep?

I think that lag is the main reason zergs exist(you can’t kill 50 people with your 20 man team if all you can press is 1) and the way PPT works is the reason we have the “coverage” problem people are talking about. Fixing those would help spreading the players.

I don’t think buffing anyone stat wise or nerfing the wining side in any way is a good idea to fix population imbalance.

I think the best solutions are:
- Make WvW recruitment easyer(good sugestion i red is to lower gem prices to transfer to a lower tier server)
- Give more incentives to play WvW(season 1 and the new ach’s are a good start)

Warriors spamming banners to revive Lord

Posted by: Chicho Gosho.6507

Chicho Gosho.6507

I think only warriors defend their banner. Everyone else know what the lag is when fighting at garri and you have 3 servers there, you can only cast 1 spell and there’s no way to cc the warrior(sometimes you dont even see him/her and the lord is alive). Having a debuff on the lord is a nice idea – something like the buff that stop you from fliping camps, ofc it should stop not only the warrior but other rez spells as well.

Well this week is really bad for sfr. With 2 servers at equal strenght(viz, sfr) and a server that’s fighting for 2nd or 3rd place of the season(pik), a 2v1 was bound to happen. I hope next season piken will start believing in themself and do some real 1v1v1.

P.S. Whoever is saying this is not a 2v1 is clearly blind or doesn’t want to see the trught. At least there are more bags for us.

Let’s keep it civil here.
My point is – that is wrong on many levels.
First, many people played WvW before and wanted to play it more but didnt have incentives to do so. Now they not only have ach to get but seasons, they participate in a league, they fight to get the gold.
Also this is the biggest WvW patch in what, 6 months? More? Of course people are going to play it. But it’s only the second day of the patch and you’re overreacting a lot.
I think after a couple of days it’ll get better. What do you think?

Just wanted to say that he was recruiting night guilds from NA. Do you know when are they going to play? If you guessed “at night”, you’re right. Also i don’t think a french only speaking server has the same problems with transfers like an international server.
Well most PvE’rs will get their ach’s or get bored and leave after the second week so the final match up against viz would be more interesting.

I could definitely go for a time multiplier. The longer a server has held a keep, the more value there is in taking it.

I am reluctant to doing it by score though.

This is a bad idea because why would anyone defend, it’d be better to leave the castle and take it after some time for better wxp. Maybe it’ll be better for defenders to get better rewards as time passes and they succesfully defend.

Also i don’t think punishing the wining server is a good idea. If you kill someone couple of times they give little wxp, why would you nerf it even more?

It’s just another broken promise of ‘innovation’ from Arena Net.

This game is grindier than the oldest effin’ Korean MMOs.

And the players are too kitten blind to see it.

Or players HAVE PLAYED those Korean MMOs and see this as nothing compared to those.

I guess what I’m seeing is that people think of gear grind as a relative thing. It’s better in some games, worse in other.

I appear to be in the tiny minority: I think that any gear grind is unacceptable.

I believe that interesting games are about content, skill, thinking, and teamwork; time spent there is quality, and of its own nature encourages more time spent.

Likewise, uninteresting games don’t engage the brain or imagination: they include gear, grind, poor storytelling, limited skills, limited encounters where teamwork makes a marginal, if any difference. Time spent there is driven by the need to acquire, is independent of skill and teamwork, and is often just mindlessly repetitive.

Which do you think best describes Guild Wars 2?

Have you played Silkroad? Beautifull game and the first 10 lvls were nice but after i had to grind to lvl 12 killing only mobs(not ordinary mobs but elite ones that had a random spawn). After that i had quests that filled my exp bar to 50% and the rest was grind again. So after playing that(i got to lvl 16) i just cant see the complains about grinding in this game. Your grind is only if you want the best(stat wise) items in the game to the same things other people are doing but faster. You’re not forced out of content(except high lvl fractals) if you don’t have an item.

I guess you missed where I said grind is a relative thing. Just because A is not as bad as B, it doesn’t mean that A is good.

Well it is my opinion based on previus games i’ve played that gw2 grind is not an issue, but i see a lot of people here are either old gw1 players or new to mmos so i understand where their problem is with grinding. Oh, i don’t think A is as bad as B also.

Another Debby Downer post…

I don’t understand some people. They complain about how world bosses are boring and only there for the loot, so ANet goes and attempts to make them more exciting and fun to fight.

And now, people have the nerve to complain before the content is even live? Holy crap, give it a chance and try it before you kitten it to death by a thousand spinning spiders wearing sunglasses…

And yet, how many times has Arena Net hyped up an event just to unveil the same tired stuff?

The game is all flash, no substance. That’s the truth of it, and it’s not the ‘debby downers’ who are blind. It’s people like you.

How is GW2 doing financially?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chicho Gosho.6507

Chicho Gosho.6507

The Quarterly report from NcSoft, which is a publicly held company, shows that Guild Wars 2 is doing fine.

You can trust what NcSoft reports on how well one of their games is doing right up to the weekly conference call on a Friday when they tell you not to come in on Monday because everyone is fired and the servers will be shut down in three months.

Well actually the report doesn’t show that GW2 is doing fine. They said with the report that GW2 is stabilising but sales were still down as per the report. If you look at the report than you see that from the last quarter of 2012 to the first quarter of 2013 sales dropped by more than 70% and from Q1 to Q2 it dropped again by around 20% between those two quarters.

If indeed it’s stabilising in the mean time that is good news for the fans here, but to say “the game is doing fine as shown in the report”, well that doesn’t sound like a fair conclusion from the numbers in the report I would say.

Reality is that since we don’t know what their break even point is, it remains speculation how bad it really is or if it’s that bad from their point of view at all. I mean all MMOs have a massive dip after the initial sales but what I do read in those numbers is that the financial model of B2P doesn’t seem to fare much better than other MMOs. And for me that is the most interesting conclusion: with all of its bravado and innovation it doesn’t seem to break from the mold from that side of things.

Did they get their investment back? I think so. Are they running a profit today? Again I think so but the margins are down of course. Is this game so innovate or refreshing that it broke the problem all MMOs suffered since WoW (big initial sales, mass exodus, settle with a good enough amount of people to continue as a more humble title).

It appears that GW2 might be around for a while yet but not as the big mold breaker that changed the face of MMOs it perhaps wanted to be. Key for the fans is that the game is profitable enough to stay alive. That should be possible I think. We’ll see if China gives them a big boost or if it’s going to deflate again after a few months.

I really am curious if Chinese players would like a game with no significant endgame. I just really don’t know.

I think GW2 changed the face of MMOs and i’m glad it did. About the finanial part ANet said they’re doing fine and they don’t need an expansion to continue so i’ll trust them on that.

Ascended rings didn’t make exotic rings useless….and ascended weapons won’t make exotic weapons useless. The stat difference is pretty negligible.

An exotic knight’s amulet gives 273 stats total

An ascended knight’s amulet gives 296 stats.

That is almost 8% higher. Do that across all of you gear and it will add up. That doesn’t consider what new infusions will do to weapons, which we don’t know yet.

Currently, the +23 stats is insignificant when compared with the sum of all the stats on your full set of gear. That’s why Ascended hasn’t made too much impact at the moment. However, fully Ascended set (armor, trinkets, weapons) will likely be around 8% better than a fully Exotic set. That’s pretty significant, particularly in WvW.

And don’t forget PvE mobs will be made harder to compensate, so: treadmill.

We have exotics from day 1. Have ANet made content based on exotic stats? No. You’re wrong.

Have anet made content based on exotics…
Fractals like to say hi to you.
Farm runs in dungeons would like to say hi to you (although this is more community based rather than anet)
Queen’s gauntlet would like to say hi to you (ASCENDED REQUIRED if you wanna do the harder achivs like the gambit achivs)

So have they made content? yes. Was it mandatory? no.

- Fractals were made for that purpose, for people that like to farm items. I don’t see the problem in this one. They don’t intercept with the outside world.

- I did 5 gambits with exotics only. You just need to know your charactar and switch traits if needed.

I have 50 laurels in me. I havent done any dailys for a long time, only did monthly, and i still completed all achievements ANet provided.

I’ve seen people questioning the definition of “reward”. I’ve seen people insulting each other’s motivation for playing. I’ve seen people creating false dichotomies between dailies and a game ruled by hardcore players. I’ve seen people saying dailies are better than nothing. I’ve seen all that, but not a single post that can explain why two people who spend the exact same amount of time in-game are rewarded differently, simply because of when they play.

3 hours a week or less – 0 laurels
3.5 hours a week – 7 laurels
Now tell me – which way is more “forcing” players to log in.

tldr;
There’s two sides to what’s going on here. People who like time gating. And people who like skill gating. There’s lot of time gated rewards in game, and it’s for the best stuff and it’s the only way to get it. There’s 0 skill gating where players can get those kinds of cool rewards by doing something once and getting something like a max stat piece of gear. ANet is showing favoritism towards one side and no attention towards the other.

Well it is a MMO after all. I haven’t seen an MMO giving you the best after you finish one task.

Hmm i just don’t know how to explain it – you want the person who plays 1 hour a week to get the same rewards as a person playing 20 hours a week for the same time which is unfair. This is the difference, the only difference – the time you’ll need to get an item. It’s not stoping you to play the game in any way.

Then more time has to be put into the game. Potentially more than people want to invest.

Something that a lot of people playing Guild Wars 2 who never played Guild Wars 1 don’t understand is that Guild Wars 1 gave us what we’re describing.

Time gates only existed for cosmetics and titles.

There was no time gating having or playing multiple character builds, because there was nothing associated with character builds that was time gated (which in Gw2’s case is gear). We were also 100% free to adjust our builds while not in an instance and it didn’t cost any currency.

There was no focus on vertical progression, it was horizontal progression all the way. You got to max level (20) in around under 30 hours just by playing. Max stat gear was obtainable before max level, but more importantly it was a fixed price that was cheap and it wasn’t a dynamic price that could be manipulated by economic gaming.

Weapons with the best mods were affordable. The only mod that was anything like the Guild Wars economy was called Rune of Superior Vigor, but fortunately the difference in a character’s health between Major Vigor and Superior vigor was less than 2%, unless you grabbed a bunch of runes that lowered your health pool to below 500.

Basically what it comes down to, is that vertical progression was pretty much non-existant (Mike O’brien even said so), and time gating only impacted Titles and Cosmetics for gear. These are the biggest things, and this meant for me that my attention could be paid to the things I like, such as playing different kinds of builds to find out how different ideas worked in various situaitons, or figuring out how to get the most out of my playstyle and builds. Since the game resolves around combat this is incredibly important. I didn’t have to grind out fractal levels or agony resistance to experience the most challenging content, I just went to the “elite areas” without having to repeat them get to the most difficult point.

If you liked GW1 so much why do you care about stats on items? You can do absolutely everything with exotics only. Fractals are made for those who liked vertical progression and this is the best ANet could have done to make them happy. One dungeon completely separate from the world for them to enjoy.

You want to eat a “Snickers” but you don’t like peanuts.
You want to get ascended gear but you don’t like the path to take them.

What is the point in getting end game gear?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chicho Gosho.6507

Chicho Gosho.6507

As for Ascended, as long as that’s the last tier, it’s more of a step, since a treadmill is continuous until you get off.

Ascended is a massive treadmill. Most people will never be able gear up your alts to max gear, especially if you have multiple builds you wish to play.

Ascended gear was only put in to appease these players who cannot fathom a video game without a useless gear treadmill. There are plenty of games that mask little content behind massive grinds and gear treadmills, those people should just go play those games.

This is actually a concern that A-net refuses to address, or even pretend exists. It seems like their ideas of progression are always balanced around an account with one character.

Guess which type of player that ends up hurting more?

The new ach system is a step in the right direction and i hope they continue to improve playing on alts.

Pretty much that, they throwed alot of good ideias in this game but they were badly or wrong explored, wich tranformed gw2 in a dumb and limited mechanics game, people get bored to fast pve is bad pvp is normal and WvW well is really a bad design, and no matter how much LS is in game will be always limited content with some minor games/puzles to do where Anet rewards players that waste time on this games, and for me this is not what a MMO is about, they really need to learn what went wrong and fix or improve.

There are really alot of cons on this game, just to name one: s you cant atack mobs that are on lower or on high positions they become invunerable, that mechanic leads to serious bugs that can be exploited as example WvW map , no matter how much reports from the place anet receives wont be fixed, IMO if theres is a valley/choke point and theres players or mobs obove or under your position none should be invunerable.

ps. sorry about the “engrish” writing….

I’ve managed to shoot a mob from a tower on top of a hill from out of range(was probably around 3000-3500 range).

To me it seems as a mastermind is behind everything but we can’t catch him. We’re able to only slow him down by killing/aresting his underlings. I like this aproach better than knowing who’s our last target’s gonna be.

Hello. I’m having trouble finishing this ach. I need 1 more area to explore to be able to get it so i looked on the wiki for the maps of areas. I found out i don’t have the new guild JP so i went there, i got the map but i not the ach so i thought it’s not counted for the explorer ach so i dived in the internet and i found out i don’t have Doldenvan Passage. I went there ready to celebrate but nothing happened. Well thats my problem.

I mean, this is Guild Wars 2. Gear in this game doesn’t have this much of an impact as in another games. You can do everything with rare items and finish just a couple of minutes slower than using full exc/asc gear. Only WvW and Fractals are going to be affected notably, but asc gear is made for fractals after all and WvW is just a casual thing(compared to sPvP that’s going to be an eSport and PvE that’s the main focus in the game).

P.S “Having ascended gear means that future updates will be balanced around that” is not a valid reason because you can do everything with green items now.

P.S Sorry for my bad english and i have a few more things to say but i’ll wait till i see what the responses would be.

And legendary items are on the same tier as ascended items stat-wise. The only difference is the skin.
