Since nobody wants to play desert borderlands EB ends up with a crazy queue while the other maps are empty or full of semi-afk players waiting for their EB queue.

ArenaNet needs to quickly roll out the alpine borderlands. It would alleviate many of the concerns on this forum right now.

Welcome to GW2 WvW since day 1. It’s always been like this – everyone go to EB and only if its full go to BL.

I’m truly disappointed but not because you will not give us more legendaries(wtf in its own), but because i honestly don’t know of any COSMETIC items in HoT. Now you’re removing this as well. You should advertise that the only way to look different than the others is to buy costumes from the gem store. Very kitten decision.

2. A lot of players gave up due to constant losing which leads to huge q times. Who in right mind would bother to continue play if they lose match after match. Pvp in this game is dead as Anet killed it by their horrible and most kittened matchmaking in the history of gaming.

Pretty much this. I’m sick of the lopsided matches. Over 2000 ranked games, a 51% win average. I am the definition of an average player, but I’ve never had losing streaks like I’ve had this season. I wouldn’t mind if the games were close, but when you lose by 200- 300 points almost every game. That isn’t fun.

To top this off the dev is asking what legendary players want, not what the vast majority want. Right there that tells you what is wrong with pvp. Catering to a small percentage of the population will only create more unbalanced systems.

Here is where I want. I want a system that I can be confident that where I’m placed is where I belong. I’m ruby right now. I probably belong there, so check. I also want a system that will allow me to improve my play so I can eventually get to a higher tier. Neither season has provided that atmosphere.

I’m willing to sacrifice queue times if matches are quality. I should be teamed against people with similar MMR and have people with similar MMR on my team. Pips are not a show of skill.

Have you red the thread? Of course he’ll ask a question about legendary players in a thread made by legendary player for a problem affecting legendary players.

1. No more than 2 classes in the same team. As OP suggested, but i’ll include his #2 because i think they have the same goal.

2. Queue outside of HotM – I know ANet said its a technical issue but really, the game is entering it’s 4th year, enough time to fix it.

3. Some activity to do when you’re in HotM – JP, duels, some game, i don’t care what.

4. Either weekly or bi-weekly update on PvP issues/changes/future/updates or in another words stop with the secrecy about what you’re doing. Something similar to the bug tracker

The fact that the best two teams in the finals yesterday had exactly the same team composition illustrates the problems this game has perfectly. People are not really motivated to compose their own teambuild because soon after a game-update/patch its already clear which builds are going to be good and which builds not. The creation of a so-called meta is too simple and too fast.

This has everything to do with the lack of appropriate traits, utilities and weapon skills. For example: who needs a trait that triggers when taking falling damage? No one, so the other 2 traits are the 2 options that are left behind. Who uses necro’s axe, while all of its skills are mediocre? No one will, because scepter and dagger are better. These are just 2 examples of narrowing down the possibility to create different builds and playstyles that are or might be effective enough in pvp.

In my opinion, Anet needs to do everything to create a more diverse PvP environment so it won’t be boring to play OR watch. Think about some dramatic changes they could make, for example; why does the race of the character not have any influence on its abilities in pvp? Has it been a good step to make players only choose 3 out of the 6 traitlines, instead of the old system where you could choose traits from all different traitlines? We need diversity! I don’t want to know exactly what build someone is playing before I even fought against him. It should not be an objective to try to give every player or team exactly the same possibilities and try to balance everything out. The trials so far to obtain a good balance have failed. Leave that to shootergames.

They had the same classes, but there was a difference in skills/traits used(don’t remember about weapons). Also there’s wvw and pve as well. A trait might not be used in pvp but used somewhere else and race not having an impact is a pretty good decision.

It’s almost comical how badly you’re fooling yourself. You even say it in your own words “random chance alone would indicate that a decent team would luck out a win here or there”.

Yeah. That’s the point. Losing 12 games in a row is nearly impossible given even odds and random matchups. Obviously, something tipped the balance. Since you’re the only constant in all 12 of those games, obviously you are what tipped the balance, making you personally responsible for the bulk of those losses.

And that’s my point, “Losing 12 games in a row is nearly impossible given even odds and random matchups,” even IF one of the players involved is consistently bad, so the only possible solution to that scenario is that it was NOT presenting “even odds.” For whatever reason I was being consistently served some combination of weak teammates and/or stronger opponents, resulting in universally lopsided battles. Why does this concept seem so difficult for you to understand?

I mean seriously, if I’d lost 8 out of 12 I might be right there with you, “wow, I was really doing bad out there and it really tipped the odds against my team,” but 0-12, many of them not even close, even ones where my personal achievements were not that terrible, I’m sorry, I don’t see how any one person could be responsible for that, no matter how awful that one player might be. I mean, a player should be able to deliberately attempt to kitten over his team ever single match and STILL win at least one out of any twelve games, just by virtue of the fact that there’s only so much a single bad player can do to mess up a good team’s efforts. I mean, teams win 4v5 match-ups from time to time.

Maybe you were just so bad or toxic that you tilted your teams and they underperformed? Just throwing a suggestion, not saying you were.

Even if you are a higher skilled ele, necro can beat you due to sheer sponge HP.

And before this patch, even if you were a higher skilled necro, any diamond skin ele could beat you with his eyes closed. Why is it only not ok now?

And why is he running zerker?

Best thing is, i didnt respond to that guy because he obviously doesnt understand what balance means, like so many other ppl. They only know spite.

Thats not promoting skill, thats promoting RNG imbalanced classes read the thread if you want to know what i think about it. Since this has been discussed over 3 times already.

Second on what you actually asked me. Why zerker? Because elementalist doesnt do any damage without zerker. Even marauder was extremely bad because its a sustain rune, in a time where scepter just doesnt do any damage.

As a scepter elementalist you are forced to play zerker to even be able to play this game on a fair level, yes its 20 times harder then other classes because you have almost no sustain or health, you dont have armor. and you fully relly on your dodges/kiting and timely blinds to stall. But atleast you can kill people before they kill you.

Its extremely high level if you know howto play it and i do.

Yet the problem still exists that as any elementalist that focusses on damage, even if its focus is hybrid support. You will not beat necros because you do not have enough traitlines/health and condi clears to simply clear the chills wich literally instant gg’s any scepter build.

You are forced into a few traitlines that can synergise with eachother to remove condis with. Do you know how little access elementalist even has to condi clear? And guess what, theyr all locked up in different trees. With the lowest HP ingame. With a single condi that hardcounters.

Chill needs to get reduced in effectiveness, its too potent. If it can hardcounter a class it shouldve been clear from the day chill go implemented in its current form, that it was too strong if you can shut down an entire class with it.

Ive stated it when reapers where revealed before HoT and everything following up to that point. That necros will be imbalanced in the ele vs necro matchup.

No I just thought it was funny that you only make the post when it’s your class. Where were your cries of outrage when DS wasn’t terrible and necros had no chance vs ele?

Only bad Necro’s has no chance to kill Ele’s with old DS, as Nosc provide over and over in his stream, 0 power amulets, go to repear shroud, auto-attack for 10 might stack, gone the DS……

But no, it is easier to come here any cry then accepting you are a bad player.

Can you tell me how much time it’s going to take to build enough LS to stay in shroud for 10 secs just auto-attacking, let’s ignore that the ele can attacks you or heal?

The counterplay to necro still is range. If you can maintain distance you can dps them down. Using fresh air and super speed is one of the easiest ways for ele to do this.

Im getting kinda tired awnsering this question over and over again.
Chill and slows stop that, as about half of this thread is trying to explain. The only way to get reliable condi clear is to trait for it and sadly the only condi clear we have are all on defensive traitlines. Wich means in the end if people think is fine, will be the death of any sort of consistant creative builds for elementalist. And tbh i dont want to be paper when my enemy is scissors.

Sadly the only way to make scepter work in its current underrepresented state is going full ham on yolo offensive skills. Kiting and constant air swapping makes sure your doing sustain damage, so you can reliable sit inrange and spike. But this also means you are literally forced out of any sort of stab/condi removal/healing/health/prot uptime etc.

My current build works because i can spec into 3 traitlines that are all pretty offensive traited. But they have 0 possibilities for me to clear condi. In my opinion ANY form of DPS with ele is nullified by this alone. You are forced to take at the very least earth or water to get some condi clears going.

Like … really .. it’s better if you leave other people make the arguments against the reapers

Yes. Any skilled Reaper will give you trouble.

Solution= avoid reaper.

Every other class can be managed. Ele is still the most mechanically sound class in the game.(Main Ele.=Jublain)

Hint: One cantrip, One glyph, One arcane utility. Spec traits similarly.

Summary: Please leave Ele AS-IS. No improvement/nerfing necessary.

Avoiding a class when there’s multiple of them in the game doesn’t actually work.

Welcome to necro’s life pre Jan patch. Also there shouldn’t be multiple classes in a team after the update(might work for ranked only).

This has nothing to do with full DS, full traits, 10 skills. This has to do with starting off from equall ground and even when reaper has c/d’s He will beat ele due to sheer amount of chilling.

Im glad you totally missed the point im obviously making here. Chill is not okay if you have so much access to it.

All my posts were about you saying necro has high mobility and nobody can escape him. You just started talking about who will win in a fight which is not what i was talking about.
Also two advices – dodge reaper #4 when he spins inside frost field and check the necro forum if you need help against reaper. There’s already a lengthy thread about how to deal with necro.

P.S. I just checked your post history and i understood that there’s no point in this thread anymore.

I think Sepiroth’s posts about using your superior mobility grasp the essence of this duel. My guess would be that staff eles have the best chance against frostfire builds. Yes, you’re at a disadvantage up close and most likely you’ll have to give up the point, but the frostfire necro is attrition build, and therein lies their weakness.

Just blink/burning retreat away and start charging air overload while I mindlessly chase you to make up for the tears I shed in the DS era.

Well, if my teleport had a low cooldown and air overload actually had a bigger aoe (since you need to literally stay in 600 range or even 300 range? not sure but its not a big circle) This could be something, but it isnt.

The cooldown on teleport is wayy too high to effectively use it against a necro, And chills will just kill you off from the moment you get too close with staff. Also most staff skills have really high cooldowns and in my perspective high cooldown < chill.

Aslong as necros have there gap closer in reaper form ele cant do anything, burning retreat has too high of a c/d compared to the gap closer of a necro wich makes necros chasing always eventually win out.

There is no war of attrition anymore since cele’s gone for ele. Sure theres sustain builds that dont do damage. But you will definatly never kill a reaper who has there spectral armor traited. Because yes, spectral armor has higher regen then a bunker staff user damage.

And besides that, ele life is way too low as a staff user to ever hold a point. The only thing you can do as a staff user is run away, and pray to RNG that he doesnt chase you, chill you and kill you off. Because Dps wise and HP wise, Necro just straight up beats ele in its current state.

Note how theres also another factor here, the chilling. Chilling also slow your movement, wich makes the gap closer of necro allot stronger. He just needs to hit you once from range to get you chilled and your dead. Because in that milisecond you realise he chilled you and you use your condi cleanse, hes already in range to hit his second chill.

I dont think allot of necros understand the implications of chilling and ele. I mean if chill didnt reduce the movementspeed and if it didnt slow down all your abilities and required active utilities for survival (wich for an ele ussually are around the 50/60S cooldown). Then most likely this problem with reaper from an ele perspective wouldnt even exist, because active kiting would be possible.

Its also why one of my suggestions was to nerf chill as a condition. I mean if a necro has so much access to it….

Again you’re just adding skills to the reaper and not doing the same to the other side. If you compare a full DS, full traits, 10 skills reaper without cds using all his skills against ele that’s only running without using any skills or traits of course he’ll catch up.

Some good points but i have to disagree that ANet are scared of nerfing classes. They’ve done it multiple times over the years, just look at the last patch and ask any ele or mesmer whether they were nerfed or not. I think that splitting pve from pvp would be the best decision.

Don’t let him freeze you with his Shroud #5 skill and don’t fight inside the ice field because the chill will destroy you. Try to stun him because he doesn’t have lot of stability or stun breakes.

I wouldn’t call players who use comunication tools tricky, it is a valid form or organization that rends good results, there should tho be an option ingame for other players to have the same advantages (voice chat chanel for party?) …
Aside from the tools, my opinion to the matter is that organized play it’s ok but there should be a place for more casual pvp to take place…. maybe remove the option of teamed up players to hot join matches? … waits for the hot join farmer guilds to wield the “I wan’t to play with friends argument” … even while they can do it in ranked/unranked

Just wanted to point that the more casual place is Unranked, although i also miss hot join.

5 people repping a guild on mics and 5 people who party up using mics but don’t rep the same guild have the same MMR boost. I don’t know where you got your info, but it’s wrong. 5 partied up people don’t have any more of an advantage over another group of 5 people doing the same thing but repping a guild.

Also, don’t get mad at other people for being confused about your post. Your grammar is awful, it’s not their fault.

Don’t care really. Thats generally my perferred method of balancing slaughtering an op class/build and driving off the FOTM trash for a development cycle or so and let some other classes/builds see the light of day. Its almost impossible to change classes/builds from OP to just run of the mills strong in one iteration. Smash away i say. Mesmer players are no more special then anyone else. Lots of classes/builds have been “unplayable” for extremely long periods of time. No one cares until it’s there perferred class that might be toward the bottom for a bit.

Mesmers have been completely unplayable except for 2 month periods once a year since launch for the most part. Ele has never not been in the meta, potentially changing now. Nerfs to mesmer, an already underpowered class except as bunkers which were already shaved to not being OP, is completely ridiculous and I pretty much think everyone who supports the nerf just can’t deal with the clone mechanic or is utterly insane. So far though the nerfs didn’t look that bad for shatter. But with thief buffs it’s completely irrelevant anyways because they will dominate the meta for a good while.

I would just like to point out that ele was out of meta for a year before they buffed celestial, you might wanna correct yourself.

While I don’t agree to trashing any class to the point you get flamed for playing it, I don’t think you realize that lots of classes have had the same one build issue for years. Ele never had anything else, but that one build, each time slightly different.

Fresh air was never viable enough to at least be in some serious tournaments, no one would play it. On the other hand shatter mesmers were played, not that much, but Helseth and Misha played it at least. I also don’t think shatter mesmer was in such a bad position, they were food for thieves, but nowhere near to unplayable.

Anyhow, this balance patch is a joke.

Ele is really not a fair example, you guys might have been out of meta for a year, but what you guys have later kept you in meta for a very long time. Pre HOT, rangers, Necros, Mesmers were completely out of the meta. Even with Robert Gee’s trait revamp, Mesmers had few weeks to shine and it was over nerfed after that. How anet treats Mesmer class compare to other classes is pretty evident, other classes get slap on the wrists, and Mesmers get the drag down to basement and beaten with a baseball bat.

You mentioned ranger. Mind telling me how many days ranger was meta in any mode? Not only in pvp. (Asking in days because i’m not sure there’s a whole month).

What are you talking about? 5 god players vs 5 god players is 50% win rate, 5 good players vs 5 good players is also 50%, 5 ppl with 60% win rate(like you) vs 5 ppl with 60% win rate still gives 50% chance to both teams.

This is why I told everyone when they proposed their solution to the exploit issue that the proposed change is terrible.

Once again its taking a sledge hammer to crack a nut. And it will just result in less fun pvp and more people just quitting.

You can’t try to solve a bunch of exploiters queuing with low ranks by penalising the vast majority of people who just play with friends at different ranks. Now all those people are screwed. So there will be less people pvping because according to anet they can no longer play with friends.

I doubt there are many people without friends at different ranks. And now if player A (sapphire) wants to queue with player B (legend) because they are friends then guess what. Player A will jsut get farmed and player B will be guarenteed to lose. It leads to just terrible situations.

End result = more dead pvp. Just like when they “fixed” 4 vs 5’s (it didnt work btw seen as most 4v5 was due to people rage quitting or dcing) by making you accept the queue pop and therefore sit in the heart of the mists.

As i said:

- If you queue with friends and one is diamond or higher? Get ready to get stomped by ESL teams even if half of your team consists of beginners.
- Get ready to get flamed hard if you duo q with a lower rated friend. Since your entire team will suffer due to the lower skilled/division friend that ends up in matches way out of his league.
- Get ready to gain lots of pips vs teams that are made up off 80% sub par players with 1 player that plays more often. All of a sudden u gain the same pips for esl teams and random guild teams that have 1 legendary and a couple of lower rated ppl.
- Hey lets introduce some friends to pvp and play some games together? Well we cant really since playing with me = playing vs tournament level teams, which isnt fun for newer players.

- With 20 ESL players per region i reaaaally dont see how you can get paired with them so often.
- You don’t lose pips every time you lose. I’ve gained pips when losing before.
- Lastly, wtf are you doing with a new player in structured PvP? Unranked, hello?

TLDR:

Waaa! Why can’t I faceroll every spec as condition reaper??

He probably doesn’t even know what chill affects eles twice more than other classes, and that without diamond skill they are just locked out of skill usage. Reapers are the clearest example of why Diamond Skin needs to stay as it is.

So basically, because a class has a distinct advantage due to certain class mechanics, that makes a poorly designed skill, that affects stat choices and completely hard-counters certain builds from multiple classes, okay to have?

There needs to be a pure counter to pure condi builds for the class with the less hp and armor. Anyway if you put all your eggs in the same basket you can’t expect not to have a counter-meta build out there. If you can’t even cleave 10% off an ele then perhaps it’s time to come to realize the fact that your build just sucks versus that class. As far as I can see Dragon Hunters, Revenants and Scrappers have no problems dealing with tempests if they chain their skills properly.

Why do you think eles play full bunker now? When cleansing water can’t clear half the chill application or torment application of a Reaper or a Revenant wtf do you expect?

Play celestial amulet or Viper, something that does a bit of damage instead of pure condi. Without versatility you can’t expect to win against every builds. People that run pure condi builds are supposed to team up with teammates that run pure support and pure damage. If you solo queue pure condi then it’s gonna fail.

Hey 1 skill negating absolutely everything condi related is ok, but running 1 element(pure condi) is not. Hypocrite much?

Just to be clear, I’m not faulting Alkore, Argi & co. for doing what they do. This is not an accusation towards them. Without that amber guy, their queue time is probably around 60 minutes or so. They are just a bunch of guys who want to play the game and have found a convenient method of accomplishing shorter queue times. In my mind, Anet is the culprit here for releasing a potato system that is bad for everybody, both filthy casuals such as myself and ESL no-lifers.

I would agree with this as well. As long as they are using the lower tier to lower queue times. Overall, this is Anet’s fault. The system needs to be fixed. I love the idea of leagues, I advocated for leagues last year, but this system needs more work.

Truthfully, though I stopped caring a while ago. I still play, but I treat the experience like a beta experience. Something I am very disappointed at considering we had two test ladders last year that were supposed to be the beta experiences.

Yeah, don’t blame the players for cheating. Blame the game, not the player, right? They are victims, don’t report them so more people can play with them and feel sorry for them, the victims.

Too lower queue times, no I don’t mind it. If it is lower MMR that is a problem.

Have i said the game has no flaws? It has flaws and needs a serious fix but ignoring the cheaters, really?

I think the biggest problem is that it makes you immune to the effect of the conditions – no fear, no slow. I think it should only affect the damage portion of the condions.
