Not this thread again … He’s making the same moves like 80% of the time. Just learn them and counter them. Don’t be affraid to drink(“1”) to avoid his Belch. It’s not easy but i prefer this than just giving achievments for nothing. That way i know i achieved something.
Between 10 and 20 tries and i won the match with less than 700 hp. Most intense “fight” in this game no doubt. You must be ready to drink a lot so you have your interupt ready for his heal. That extra healing from the asura, i think, helped a lot.
P.S I don’t think it’s possible to beat the final one
Also don’t forget ANet said the LS so far was a test and i also remember that in the future they’ll add permanent stuff also.

But, but you don’t do a JP for an item reward. There’s something wrong with you. Also tell me how many JP in the game have 3 chests and an exotic at the end?
Most of the complaints i’ve read were about that 40% of our damage that`s an AI. Even ANet doesnt know what to do with it based on their buffing and nerfing our pets every patch.There have been many great suggestions on the forum on how to imrove our pets, none implemented yet sadly.
P.S. Oh and there was something about making the pet easyer to control, but it was like 2 months ago and we’re still waiting.
I did AR, i’ve found nothing hard if you know what to look for. Maybe the problem is with you? I dont know, but dont nerf it pls
ranger’s pet should account for half the character dps
a bunker ranger should deal the same damage any other bunker “insert class”…I don’t recall guardian bunkers bursting for 5-6k with drake/bird.
pet’s damage has to be toned down, A LOT (same goes for rock dogs, or elementalists’ summons, thieves’ guild and so on…everything should scale according to character’s stats, not be a fixed value)nobody complains about necro minions =(
they take up utility slots, and don’t burst like ravens or drakes or whatever anyway :p
I don’t think we should compare utility skill with rangers’ pets and drakes have one burst skill thats easy to see if you pay attention to the pet. That being said i think best would be for pets to have base stats and then get some % from the rangers stats.
If in a proper PvP tourney, wasting all your time and resources just to take on 1 bunker is not a wise thing to do. My team usually ignore him and capture the other points. If he join the group fight, he hit like wet noodle,you can actually ignore him.if he is bunker one point, means the other 2 only have 4 people cap. With 5 players on your team can not take down the other 4, I don’t know what to say. But I agree the pet hit hard right now though. In Bunker Ranger, we simply can not ignore the pet at this point of the game. Anet sure buff Pet hard.
ANet buffed SOME pets hp or toughness and the only big increase was drakes hp. Almost all the other pets got 2-3k hp increase only.
I think the biggest problem is that your pet chase the target half the map and it should be fixed.
The other specs hit harder with their “1” skill. If we don’t have the pet we’ll never win downed fights.
All of your suggestions would make the daily harder, longer and wirse than now.
But you can walk out/dodge the root. I’ve done it. Also just one necro with minions and the root is wasted. I don’t think that 1 skill makes a class group friendly. I’ve also played against teams with good aoe and the pet dies really fast.
On the topic – i don’t think mesmer should be nerfed. It’s not like he can move while using blurred frenzy.
i would love to see pets scale with our stats. i can already envision builds to accomodate every underused pet.
Pet Affinity could change to:
Base 10% Scaling with Ranger stats + 1% per point of Pet Affinity. ( % not balanced, only figurative )
i don’t want to play a bunker, but i do want to play a beastmaster. i play the hand i’m dealt, & i’ve been dealt a tree that gives me +300 healing & a monster on a very long leash.
they could shake up the spec a lot by changing SoWild’s passive to something other than healing. it’s so kitten strong & i hate having a utility on my bar that i barely ever use, b/c the passive healing is just too good.
at least SoHunt & SoRenewal have valid incentive for using the active ( although Hunt doesn’t help the current situation—13k Blinding Slash in tPvP ftw, gg Mug nerf ).
Base + % increase or just % from Ranger stats? Also there are other specs rangers can use, your suggestions would hit them way harder than BM. Signets were pretty bad before the last patch and now you want to nerf them again? Most of the suggestions here would require complete overhaul of the ranger class so i dont think its possible.
Forgot one thing, as some mentioned already:
- pets hitting like a truck while their masters are bunker-specced
But pets can hit only 1 target. What’s the problem with the bigger damage compared to every mele weapon that have cleave attaks?

The visuals in GW2 are amazing. I’ve been playing for 2 months and i already know what to avoid from different professions/weapons. Just because you’ve played 5-6 years GW1 and you can say the skills in your sleep doesn`t make gw2 visuals worse.
About separating i think its already done – if you’re a 5 man team you’ll be put against another 5 man team, if there are no teams you get a 4 man team and so on.

I think we need to change the score system. Servers should gain more points during the evening and less during the night, just because of the number of player :

Nothing change on VS. The current state of WvW is due to the bad attitude of SFR against newcomers. We don’t zerg more than before. SFR (with help of ArenaNet maybe) killed their server and the balanced matchup … Not VS.
You’re so wrong about our attitude against newcomers. We teach them every day, we have pug commanders and everything for them to feel nice. We dont like those who just came with the free trasnfer to see whats in T1, that do not want to help, arent interested in the system we made(we have TS,server site for wvw and other stuff) and that do not listen to the commanders on the map.
Yeah shame on him for not knowing ANet were going to allow free transfers to No1 server in EU at the same time and giving WvW rewards and turn it to mince…

Queues jumped from 30-40 mins primetime to 3-4 hours. I’d say thats a pretty huge increase in pugs. Let’s see what they’ll do now when we’re losing.
Give you a wee example if say Viz are in a tower Deso are beating down the door do you? A: charge and wipe deso and take casualties from both deso and Viz defending and look like from a deso perspective that your supporting viz if you fail to take the tower or B: wait till deso have done the heavy work and are in the tower charge in and bum rush everyone but at the same time make Viz think your helping deso?.
It’s a catch 22 so just drop all this kitten anyone that carries on is merely trolling for the sake of getting a reaction if you still feel the same Graverr go cuddle up closer to Sacrx and RG they will protect you from the nasty people.
I’m glad my guild and the commanders i follow doesnt follow that strategy. I prefer second place as a server but to be known as KILL ALL ON SIGHT and win .
yeah they were, it was JS, SFR and PS…………Then PS guilds transfer to SFR and now there crying cause other people are transferring. Tough kitten
When i started playing(maybe 2 months ago) SFR was in T1 and decided to drop to T2(the time when ANET reseted the points or changed how points are calculated, i dont remember) so we didn’t fight the whole week at all. After that we won every match in T2 before PS guild came. I dont see the problem. RG wanted to play in T1 but couldn’t do it on PS so they picked SFR and we won everything after that.
@ vynt in borderlands vizu and SFR both blob way worse then deso. You guys create 90+ blobs… That’s madness and need perfect control of the ppl who are online. Deso rarely have that amount of people, and if they do, they rather split up. If you think 50-60 blob is bad, then look at your own 90+.
EB is where most pugs go so it can’t be helped that they stick together with a commander.
The blobs won’t cease no one will be prepared to revert back to individual raids not whilst blobbing means winning it’s a by product of tier 1 that is now spilling down to lower tiers.
When piken hit tier 2 it discovered blobs for the first time with SFR and JS without taking into consideration it’s coverage it’s individual guild raids refused to adopt merging raids and so couldn’t compete on a similar level.
Many of the guilds from piken now in tier 1 servers where some of those guilds proud to stand solo but tier 1 has changed them they have forsaken their values and merged with the mentality of the tier 1 blob. Im sure many despise what has come of us but Pandora’s box is open and we will find it very difficult to close it now as we have all in tier 1 set the standard of play.
Not true. Having more people doesnt mean better score. Its not so hard to defend with a proper siege and 20-30 ppl less than the others. The problem is that wvw guilds can’t enter or only 50% of them can play because of the queue.

the last 2 are iffy, I’d say Cannon use will not be bought, Simply because the Cannon is the first thing to go when defending a keep.

As for Zerging, people look down on it because it requires zero skill, and is already over rewarded in this game.
The first 3 things are exactly what small groups need. Kill the guards, get the supply camp fast and move to the next one. You just want to find something to whine about.
“When you participate in WvW events " first sentence about WXP. Cry more how only killing players will get you exp. Untill i see the patch notes i won’t say anything, but so far i like the changes.
What about something like this : There’s no increase on the timer if the pet is dead. It’s always 20(15)s, but if a we swap when our pet is dead the new one will get a death penalty that reduces its core stats by 50% for 5 secs.
Getting bored of these posts. We’ve not been ignored, we’re being buffed and OTHER classes are getting attention, but not always good attention. Elemental distance covering is being looked at under a strong light and thieves being able to spend 90% of a fight in stealth is being nerfed.
Yes we still have issues, yes it would be nice if pets got smarter and if sprits got fixed but it’s clear they are not going to just, big bang buff/nerf, every patch, every time.
They could communicate better and have made some bad early choices (which they’ve admitted themselves) but I’m sick of huge buffs then massive nerfs over and over in MMOs in the name of balance.
I’m happy to wait and let them take their time.
The “omg teh next big MMO will get it right first time so I’ll be going there in a few months” arguments are just not in touch with reality.

The problem with devs referring to pet is they’re only referring to agony resistance in most cases, which is great but as far as I’ve seen it , the devs seem to think they’re fine in pvp.
You should read the thread where a dev responded. You’ll be surprised how bad pets are.
GW2 combat is based on damage avoidance, not damage mitigation.
Unfortunately for whatever reason, the current pet combat design is built around damage mitigation.
This works OK with most average PVE trash mobs. The pet can absorb damage long enough for the combined damage of pet and ranger to take down the trash mob.
This breaks down in dungeons or even large dynamic events with multiple foes and veteran or better foes. Pets have no chance face tanking in those situations regardless of how often you want to piddle around with recall/attack. Pet transit time is wasted time (run up to the boss, run back etc.)
The proposed solution of adding a player controlled pet dodge is not likely to succeed.
Dynamic events and many dungeon fights make it almost impossible to see ones pet to even know if they are about to get clobbered, factor in the already glacial responsiveness of pet commands and this approach just does appear feasible.The combat design of damage avoidance dictates a solution should give pets a method to avoid damage.
One simple AI behavior that would help is for ranged pets to maintain maximum range between themselves and foes. It’s sad to watch a ranged pet run up to melee distance of a champion before starting their ranged attack. It’s just as sad to watch a ranged pet run into pack of foes just to be in melee range of their target before starting their ranged attack.
Is this easy to fix via AI? I don’t know but it seems that many in game mobs seem to have it already, (pirates, outlaws, risen etc. ) they stay at range and some even use knock backs to maintain it.
The second AI behavior is attack avoidance. Again some in game mobs already exhibit this behavior. Some mobs will run out of your AOE attacks and not simply stand on one place and try to face tank.
There needs to be some pet AI that senses red circles of doom and other attack tells, and gives the pet a reasonable ability to dodge out of or avoid these threats. This could be a sliding scale sort of skill that the ranger can set. 0 – attack at all costs and never dodge, to 100 – dodge as much as possible, and only attack when safe.
I suspect these represent more AI programming time than what the organization is willing to commit, so instead we hear these magic number proposals to just give them the same AR as the ranger, or jack up a few of their stats in dungeons. These are the quick and dirty kludges of desperation. If magic numbers are the only solution feasible then perhaps giving pets an evades stat would be useful. Turn up the evades stat turns down the attack stat etc. as the situation merits.
I just hope all of this energy and discussion does not end up being hot air.
Very nice post. I also think that the pet AI is the problem. I dont think that a dodge for the pet is a good option because of 2 things:
a) Particle effects – its really hard to see what the boss is doing in mele range when – youre using a LB and you’re keeping 1200(1500) range from it and when you’re using SB and the best spot is behind the boss(or flanking it)
b) Again – pet AI. What Jalad said about pets’ AI. I dont think a simple dodge would be the best solution

A numerical health bar (I just pasted my HP on to the pets HP bar, I know thats not the real number. And all the pets boons/condition/etc show up above the pet UI so we don’t have to click on our pets?

Please, please see this comment. It’s so bad that we can’t see pets’ buffs when it’s such a big part of our class.
pets in WvWvW are a problem, however, when he says he puts it on passive, that doesnt mean he doesnt attack with his pet, it means his pet is default to not attacking, and only attacks specfic targets when he hits attack command.
they main problem is that WvWvW is zerg heavy and AOE heavy, however, truth be told, players get melted just as easily, and pets dying, while making you weaker doesnt take you out the game, (like dying on another class does)as well you can swap out pets to get them back.
The problem with what many of you are suggesting is that you either want to make a pet into an invincible, or near invincible source of skills and damage, or you want to take it out of the game, neither one of those are viable solutions.
if pets can survive where even players cant with little risk, isnt that essentially overpowered?
Why everyone forget that players can dodge and ranger has up to 1500 range with LB(not even mentioning defending from a wall)? Also a ranger without a pet is like a warrior without his F1 AOE stun with a hammer – he’s not dead but he’s losing a lot of his utility in a wvw
Nice idea, i like it. I hope the devs do something about pets. I don’t like playing pet support anymore, no matter how thrilling it is to keep it alive during dungeon runs.
P.S. Kudos to you Chubbs for playing 1300 hours and having fun. I got only to lvl 3 in spvp and i saw some pet problems. I guess people see what they want to see.
What about Shaman gear instead of Cleric? Is it still a good combo or toughness is just too good compared to vit?
Biggest problem with pets -> game is made with dodging in mind and pets can not dodge. No matter how you try to defend pets in their current state they’ll still be a nuisance rather than a fun mechanic.

3. Once again, I haven’t noticed this. Can you not use f1 or f3 during the time? I never noticed this. Usually when you sick a pet loose though, you are setting it from your control to go crazy. If it does do this I can understand it, but I never try to interrupt the skill anyway.
4. I think they are sub-par. They either need a lower ICD or more survivability in my opinon. Not completely unusable though, you will find spirit rangers every now and then.
5. What nice traits in MM are needed for a BM build? The pet condition duration one might pass, but even that matches in MM because of the condition duration stat. BM line is focused on the pet, and all of the skills show that. They aren’t bad really, when added up they can be very nice bonus’s ex. perma vigor or extra regen.
6. They must believe traps to be a skirmishing type utility. The WM line contains boost to the Survival utilities, which honestly match well with the toughness in the line. Not enough room for two sets of utilities maybe? It does help synergy though in a different way, when trap rangers want the condition damage for traps, they are also getting some toughness and survivability they would otherwise need. Maybe though traps can be optimized with the extra cond. damage, they don’t require it and were therefore put into a different line. What if a ranger wanted to run traps but didn’t want to spec that line? Then there would be a whole nother complaint. Can’t answer this perfectly, as I am not Anet.
2. Basically use a range pet if the boss has aoe or pray that when you dodge he’ll stay out of the red circle?
3. If you order your pet to do anything after using Sick’em the buff dissappears.
5. Incr movement speed, incr damage on crits, health on crits, might to the pet on crit.
1. Why when i press F3 my pet doesn’t run directly to me, in a straight line? It sometimes makes almost a square before coming to me.
2. How to keep my pet alive when a boss throws some aoe bombs(for example) directly on himself? It’s insta kill for my pet and pressing F3 can’t save it because runing cant save it from the damage.
3. Why Sick’em makes me lose control of my pet?
4. Do you think spirits suck?
5. Why, a BM ranger, has all those nice traits in MM and so few good ones in BM? (BM minors are great though)
6. Why do you think ANet put traps in the prec/crit dmg tree?

Most of the people complaining here are saying “I’m a casual player but i want to have the best gear in the game”. I think people forgot what casual means or i’ve been wrong for such a long time.
1. Pets can attack while moving, same as players(even their F2 attack).
2. Pets have a dodge on a 10-15 sec cooldown that activates every time they’re in a red circle
3. Better AI when they’re on passive and when called back. It’s so bad when i stop before a group and my pet runs ahead to the group… sooo bad. Also when i want it to return to me sometimes he runs the opposite direction then makes a circle and returns to me after moving over every aoe possible.
