He’s just there to point at you and laugh as you waste skills on trying to kill him.

…It is kind of annoying though because skills that bounce between targets instantly stop on him because he’s invulunerable to everything, so some skills are useless when you are fighting that particular group until he disappears.

Not to mention other weapons. She uses a revolver, surely a revolver would be an entirely seperate beast from your standerd flintlock? And we already have very different types of rifles aswell, an actual rifle or a blunderbus, huge difference! All the while a much more obvious type, like a two-handed Axe, isnt available.

Well, to add on to this, and just to be fair, you don’t see any player wasting ten seconds to reload those said Flintlock rifles and pistols in the game. And, you can actually get a Wheellock Rifle in the game, which if you pay attention to real world history, is older and inferior to a flintlock. In the game they all still fire the same though. The Thief actually has a weapon skill for the pistol that fires off 5 shots at once. What old Musket/Pistol/whatever do you know that can do that (besides being technical and showing off a Revolver/Matchlock rifle from 1580, very few of which ever existed)?

Also, I am including a link to that revolver/matchlock from 1580, because it is that awesome looking! You should totally put something like it in the game Anet!

Here is some suggestions to make Dragon Bash, or an event like Dragon Bash a little more bearable in the future.

1. Change the drop rate of Weapon Claim Tickets. What I mean is, Don’t make it 0.07% or whatever it is for the whole event. You should make it a much higher number, like 10%, until the Player finds their first one, then drop the chance back down to 0.07%. That way, every player that participates in the event will get to experience all of the content (and I mean ALL the content, including getting to use a cool weapon skin!), but if they really want to get more weapon skins, then by all means, go spend a week grinding away at whatever it is in order to get more!

2. Make Weapon Claim Tickets Tradeable Instead. If you aren’t going to change the drop rate, then atleast stop making them Accountbound so that if a player wants to get a weapon skin, they can buy it instead. Some people who got a ticket but have no interest in the new weapon skins would also be able to just sell the ticket and make a little gold instead. If the Weapon tickets had the same drop rate as the Dragon Wings, then, baring someone being a horrible person and buying them up (or them being more popular than a holographic back piece that you can’t change the color of (which it is)…(just saying!)), the Price of a weapon ticket would be 10-15 gold or so on the trading post right now. After the event, the price would go up, like what happened to the Flame and Frost Dyes, but if a player that wants it really wants it, they know how much work they have to do to get it.

3. On the Jorbreakers, maybe Let us be able to get Weapon Claim Tickets with 100 Jorbreakers, just like with the Holographic Dragon Wings (that would make them cost roughly 40-60 gold as of right now depending on how you aquire Jorbreakers)

4. If you are going to make us confirm purchase of those food items with Zhaitaffy every time we want one, because the game’s programming makes us or something else, then let us buy an entire stack of them with a Jorbreaker instead. That would let us buy 200 of any food item at a time with one Jorbreaker, or 100 of the firework item.

5. If you are going to have events that happen at a specific real world time, like the fireworks, then reset the ingame day/night cycle with a game update to coincide with the particular event at that particular real world time, so players aren’t waiting around doing nothing. Players doing nothing aren’t actually playing anything, and players not playing, are usually angry impatient players too!

What does everyone else think? Did I get all of what was good and bad pretty well? Or did I miss something?

These are things that I personally liked and hated about the new event, and I was hoping that by posting this here, other players could agree/disagree, add to it, whatever.

5. Lion’s Arch was transformed to be all Holiday-ish and Dragon themed. I really liked the massive Holographic Dragon flying around everywhere.

4. I liked the mail I got that gave me the three gem store mini pets right away. I liked that it basically meant ’Hey! We know you spend money on the Game. Thanks!"

3. I liked the Dragon’s Jade Weapon Skins. They look very distinct from other weapon sets already in the game which is always a Plus (even if 99% of all players will never get to use that content for themselves…).

2. What I liked even more was that the Dragon Coffers dropped constantly, and I was able to buy them on the Trading Post so I could keep opening them until I got atleast one Weapon Ticket. (I got 6)

1. I liked the Story twist, (that we all saw coming for two weeks because of the the Dragon bash Achievements)

Now, Five things that I didn’t Like (really, all but Two are minor complaints):::

5. The Fireworks in Lion’s Arch Happened at wierd times. Instead of 9:00am PT, they ended up happening 50 minutes later, or sometimes later than that. There were alot of players that showed up at 9:00/11:00/1:00/3:00/5:00/7:00/etc. to see the fireworks to get the achievement, but then had to sit there for a full hour longer because nothing was happening, and this caused many players to miss getting the Achievement (and cool head item) at first.

4. I didn’t like that the Pinatas only gave you 1 measily piece of Zhaitaffy. Those people in Lion’s Arch must be pretty cheap keeping all the tasty Candy to themselves! That, or they spent all the money making those millions and millions of Pinatas and couldn’t afford to put more than one lousy piece of candy in it at a time!

3. I didn’t like Dragon Ball all that much. It wasn’t that it was poorly designed or anything, but it was because you couldn’t form your own party and jump in and play, and that teams were always randomized. There were also players that joined the games, and went AFK for an hour, leaving you technically one man short while playing.

2. The Story Achievements for Dragon Bash were spoilers before they were even available. I read somewhere else on the forums that there was nothing Anet could do about it, so, whatever. Seriously, I thought it was only a holiday type event till I read those Achievements. It would have been way better if they were locked, or hidden, or the text atleast said Locked so I wouldn’t know what was comming.

1. As much as I hate to say it, other players are right,….The drop rate of the Weapon Tickets is just maybe, kind of, a little, possibly, ridiculous. Look at the Drop rate Research done by members of the community here::

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dragon_Coffer/drop_rate
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rich_Dragon_Coffer/drop_rate

Someone opened 75 Rich Dragon Coffers and got 0 weapon tickets. On the regular dragon coffers, someone opened 6647 coffers and got only 1 weapon ticket (that guy must have really wanted one!). Other people opened FAR less and got more tickets, some people never got any.
I myself opened 25 Rich Coffers, and around 5,000 regular coffers, and I got 6 weapon tickets, 1 holographic dragon wings, 13 mini holographic risen knights. I also got about 7,000 pieces of Zhaitaffy, and 45 or so each of the other food items. The total cost for me was 100 Gold all across the event (about 70 gold to get the gems for the rich coffers at the time. The other 30 Gold mixed with a week of just killing things to get the regular Coffers). Unfortunately, some people spent quite a bit more ingame gold and real money than I did, and got away with, Nothing….
Going back to the Rich Dragon Coffers, that guy who opened 75 of them, he could have spent the equivelant of 75 U.S. Dollars, or he could have bought the Gems (which at the exchange rate is 210 gold), we don’t know. Either way,….just Wow…

Wow, dude, Zaxares, read what I wrote very carefully again, and then redo your reply. You spectacularly missed my point. Actually, you missed it on your first reply as well. The point in my previous post, was that EVERYONE suddenly had a Zodiac weapon, within a month of the game’s release, completely cheapening that content, and making it pointless to go into a super hard dungeon, and grind your way until you got one. Then when Nightfall came out, EVERYONE had the next big thing within like, seriously, two months, and it just made it pointless to even bother playing the game for that content. Are you seriously trying to tell me that it would be better to make the game cheaper and just send everyone the same weapon set through the mail so everyone can decide for themselves if they want it or not? Before they even play a second of the new content?

I will give you an example and a question. Lets say that on, name a racing game, Gran Turismo 5 (Need for speed, Forza, whatever). Lets say that instead of all the crappy cars at the begining of the game, the devellopers decided to let you drive the feastest car in the game, right from the start (lets not include DLC for this). Why even bother buying that game? There is no improvement to be made, to your skills as a gamer, or to the car you drive, because, you know, its already the best. There is absolutely nothing to strive towards. It isn’t a game anymore. The point in the game being a game is lost.

Now sure someone can try to argue, “Well, uh, I would play with a slower car because no one else is!” Whoever said that statement would be so full of Malarkey that I would never take anything they said seriously, like, ever again.

This is why I like the current setup of how to get Legendary weapons, and the whole trading post setup as well. If you want something, PLAY THE GAME. don’t demand that you get something because you want it. Nine months later, and I have seen exactly 8 people with Infinite Light. One person had TWO! Its not even a legendary, but its one cool looking weapon. I want it! I will spend the month gathering materials and such to get the dang thing! Now, if I saw everyone running around with it, like every five minutes, then what would be the point?

I question your belief that, if everybody had access to the same weapon skins, everybody would be using the same weapons. People like to feel unique; if everybody had a Legendary, you can bet all the gold on the TP that people would start using other weapons so that they can stand out from the crowd .

Yeah,…Okay, tell that to the many thousands of people that were running around with Zodiac weapons weapons in Guild Wars Factions and all the Green weapons after that because they were the coolest looking weapons at the time.

I think you need to play a few more online games, or games in general, and then maybe you will realize why the most awesome looking weapons are the hardest to find, because almost anyone who finds it will sell it to the person who wants it most, or is going to equip it regardless of how many other people have it.

Edit : Look at the dragon wings on the trading post right now. You see almost no one running around with it because they look kind of stupid on most characters.

One Tiny Suggestion

Chrispy.5641

(scroll down for my suggestion if you don’t want to read, I have some colorful things to say to the community first.)

First off, I want to say that I love the boxes, and the random chances that go with it. It makes the game slightly more interesting than seeing ten thousand people running around, all with the same weapon skin on the same weapon. I am one of those ‘people’ that spends real world money in this game. I spend roughly 50 dollars evey six months, because I’m not spending it on a WoW subscription where I may get an update every two years, as opposed to, (what is it now? every Three-Four weeks?) I like the small chances with things like these. Hey, it took me about eight months to get my legendary precusror, and I wasn’t ever ticked off that other people found one before me (even in the first week the game was released)!

Second, I want to say that these things already exists in the game in atleast two places and no one complains about them. There are the Black Lion chests, and the Lost Orrian Jewel Boxes. Neither of which require real money. The jewel boxes, you spent karma on, and it gives you a chance at rare lodestones, and some other items like an exotic mini(that’s account bound). Yes it gives you back less Karma for spending karma most of the time, but there are thousands of people running around with 1,000,000+ Karma, and they need somewhere to spend it. You also don’t need to spend a dime on Black Lion chests because you get a black lion key pretty easily, either by completing certain story missions, or 100% areas (where you will either get a black lion key or 3 transmutation stones, thats a 50/50 chance!). Sure there’s no weapon skins, but there’s lots of other cool stuff!

Third, I really don’t understand what everyone is complaining about. Is it because you, a ‘casual’ player, feels entitled to getting the same cool stuff that the truly dedicated spend hours and hours more trying to get? This is totally a legit question, especially when I read on the map chat and the forums about how the ‘poor’ ‘casual’ players are getting stomped on by the ‘rich’. While I dont agree with that at all (and never did even before I basically won the lottery when I found the precursor), if that’s the case, I suggest to Anet that everyone just get handed their legendary weapon right now. Make everyone equal like Karl Marx intended.

Or is it because you spent real world money, when in a game like this it is the most unecessary thing you can possibly do. For example, those Dragon wings everyone is complaining about cost roughly 33g right now. this morning it was 70g. You don’t need to farm for 100,000 candies (or the equivlant of 400 gold currently) to get it, and the only reason why that exists is to probably prevent Zhaitaffys from flooding the market, and turning into another Candy Corn, and as a way for people to be able to get the item after the event is over, just like the ‘absurd’ 1000 karka shells you need to get the Ancient Karka shell (which was given for free to everone who took part in an event back in November). You can also buy the Dragon coffers for roughly 6s right now, and there is a chance to get all of these things in it. Not too bad.

Fourth, Guild Wars 2 is Buy to play. Its not free to Play, and it doesn’t require a subscription, but Anet still has to find a way to make money to keep supporting the game (and their crazy evey month content updates)(and NCsoft their ‘evil’ overlords! who aren’t that evil.), thus, these items that find their way in the Gem store every month are a very necessay thing. Some people say they are evil, but if that’s the case, its a necessary evil. and quite avoidable at that!

THE SUGGESTION
My tiny, tiny suggestion for when things like this happen, is to use diminishing returns for very awesome items like Weapon skins.

For example : you can make it so that the chances of getting a weapon skin in a chest is 1 in 10 per account, but after you get that frst weapon claim ticket, make it drop to whatever it normally is (Some people say its a 0.4 percent chance, or about 1 in 250). This will make the chances of finding a weapon skin much higher, but the game wont be flooded with everyone running around with that awesome greatsword skin, or that cool looking longbow skin, won’t shut out other content completely, and it will give us dedicated players the ability to be proud of ourselves that we have TWO whole weapon skins from that month instead of just one! (people are so going to complain that I wrote that)

Don't nerf Rangers to satiate the 'Elites'

Chrispy.5641

If Anet wants to Nerf the Rangers, let them! I’ll take the challenge, and I will make the Guardians, Mesmers, and Thiefs whine, cry, and gripe some more in a few weeks. The Ranger is the Strongest class! ‘useless’ Longbow and all!

Bryzy, you just got to know how to play the Ranger class, take advantage of some of the best traits ever, such as Piercing Arrows and Signet of the Beastmaster, and not always use a Full Zerker build either. With the right build in WvW, you can apply full stacks of might on your pet in about two seconds,…or less! You then knockback anyone in a straight line, Daze anyone in a straight line, bleed all of them, poison all of them, use a Drake or Canine to embarrass them, then finally use your barrage to cripple them, all while taking no damage yourself for six of those seconds. Hopefully you brought a group with you to mop up the mess you made! Rangers are also great in PvE, because with the right build, you can fight up to half a dozen enemies and a Veteran at once without any fear of dying, because with a trait and a signet, your health regeneration pretty much takes care of you!

Why aren't rangers able to wield rifles?

in Ranger

Posted by: Chrispy.5641

Chrispy.5641

Rangers can already use a Rifle,….er, uh, Charzooka! They are enviromental weapons you can buy from a vendor near the Lowland Burns waypoint, just before the Shatterer event takes place (okay, its not a real weapon, and it has only 1 skill, and it costs nearly 2 silver to buy, and it lasts for 60 seconds, and all the other classes can use it too)

As far as the Natury, flowery stuff, consider thakittens not just for the Silvari. The human Goddess Melandru, is the Goddess of Nature, Earth, and Growth, pretty much anyone who worships her will have the same view as she does. The Norn Spirits, are spirits of the Wild, you know,…nature, stuff that isn’t civilization, involves spirit animals that guide their whole race. The Asura are interested in anything that has to do with the Eternal Alchemy, which includes trees and animals, they still contribute to a greater purpose, as everything does. The Charr are tricky to define as far as this goes, thats for sure, but, the Char sort of see themselves as superior to everything, especially things like ‘gods’ and forces of nature, so maybe a Charr that is in tune with nature is actually just trying to conquer it, like anything else that gets in their way.

I can see a Ranger using a Staff and using some of the more Nature-y stuff that’s associated with the class. I Kind of hope in a future Expansion, Anet gives every class atleast 1 new weapon set for us to try out.

Woah, that is a really cool, and much more substantial piece of fan artwork than about 99% of what I’ve seen. Sorry to hear its your last piece of Guild Wars related artwork because there is some room for improvement, and chances to make some really awesome stuff!

As far as the other stuff goes. That really sucks. If you knowingly did it, I hope you learned the lesson, and in the future when playing games like these, you immediately hit the bug report button on the slightest sense of an exploit. If it’s that much more awesome than making money other ways, it’s probably something that will get you banned.
