For those of you who are giving Zephyr kitten for sharing this:
1. Search doesn’t work on this forum.
2. There’s no sticky about this, so we can’t assume every player knows everything.
3. Most Players don’t think they have to Read the Forums. Please consider that there are many players who aren’t on the bleeding edge of Guild Wars 2-related news.
I’m with AcidicVision: Keep up the enthusiasm! I love getting excited about stuff like this; it’s even better to see other players into it.
There, fixed it for you.
(If you read, say…, the Ranger Forums, you would be appalled at how many duplicate topics there are that talk about the exact same thing)
Gotta say, i’m a bit disappointed that an outside player community treats each other better than the players on the official forums treat each other a lot of the time.
Zepher, keep up the enthusiasm, its refreshing to see.
Here’s a link to a topic on page 2 of the forums::
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/speech/Queens-Speech-page-updated
Honeslty, I’m a bit disappointed that no one reads past page 1!
Does anyone ever read the forums?
Seems more they just want to lay in the sun and eat magic than anything else.
Not really. We know Primordus wants to destroy everything, and Zhaitan wants to rule Orr. He has clearly raised it from the depths as his empire, where he rests on top of it as a sort of throne. Zhaitan is a conquerer, Primordus a destroyer, Jormag a corrupter.
So what does that make the other three dragons?
Kralkatorrik the….Singer? Mordermoth the…..Dancer? Bubbles the……Bubble blower?
Man, So much hate…
That would however be seen as a slap in the face to those of us that actually bought them at full price back when they were time-limited.
Anet has given Loyal Players gifts in the past (those that bought gems during certain times and recieved gifts through in-game mail), Maybe Anet would give us a small gem refund if they offer a bundle like this? That’d be my sugestion.
Hey, remove the conditions, we only got 3 viable direct damage sets which is unacceptable, thats why we need direct damage not noobish condtions, and that shadowstep thingie can launch a foe a short distance and knock them down for a half second like a trip kick. but aside from that great ideas!
Thanks for the Feedback! I will admit, I am sort of in a Ranger/Necromancer (Conditions! Kitten Yeah!!!!) mentality right now because I haven’t played other classes too much in about four or five months….But yeah, I’ll post an Alternate Thief skill set in that same post Later Tomorrow (kind of late….), and I’ll let you and other Thieves decide which one to keep.
Gauntlets are gloves, maybe did you mean Knuckles just like in Maple Story?
Knuckles doesn’t suit necromancer.
I prefer the necromancer to have dual axe, dual sword and greatsword.
Thanks for the Feedback!
I was kind of trying to be as general as possible, like how the professions are set up (A Ranger is a Hunter, Scout, Beastmaster, and Druid all in one!). Like, for example…, also, just a few links….
Gauntlets – (the kind with a built in Knuckle Duster!)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gauntlet_
Brass Knuckles – A ‘Knuckle Duster’ by itself
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knuckle_duster
Bagh Nakh – Tiger Claws and other cool stuff!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bagh_nakh
Scissors – Gauntlet-like weapon that fits entirely over forearm, has a blade at the end.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scissor_
I would consider all of these weapons to be the same general weapon type and style of use, just as I would consider Swords, Sabres, and Rapiers to be the same General weapon type and style, even though the actual use of those three swords are as different as the 8 professions in Gw2 are, (and each profession generally uses swords differently).
Also, the Necromancer had 6 or so touch skills in Gw1, that were melee of course. I was thinking that the Necromancer could use the Gauntlets/gloves/whatever, and get into close range, and by touching/punching/whatever the foe, he would be transferring his necrotic power through the enemy to force various effects to happen. The actual act of hitting and dealing damage isn’t where the power of the weapon is comming from, atleast for Necromancers. Its the transfer of the Necromancer’s magical abilities that accomplish that. (Hey, the same principle could work with swords too!)

Ability to add Scars and Tattoos on all the Races.
Oh and an extra -1 for my hyena ally
-1, my parrot that gets summoned with pirate runes gets a vote too, right?
(I’m joking!)
(edited by Chrispy.5641)
Necro skills are certainly fitting to the current Meta, as they’re mostly entirely OP.
How so?
Is it Skill 2 inflicting additional Bleeding overpowered? There are four other conditions that weapon can apply, so assuming you only use the weapon, the Necro can apply 5 stacks of bleeding for 6 seconds every 6 seconds,…after wasting all their other skills.
Yes, you can combine this skill with Signet of Spite very well and have 6 stacks (plus other conditions). And I said ‘Each Other Condition’, so Bleeding is automatically out (so nevermind, only 5). Here is a weapon skill that does exactly the same thing, except that instead of being dependent on conditions already on foe and be at close range, you only have to be at point blank range to apply 5 stacks of bleed:::
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Splitblade
(I did edit it to apply a max of 6 stacks as I intended that originally to keep it from being too powerful, but forgot about it earlier, sry if that confused you)
Or is it Skill 3 that doubles the length of a condition (with a 20 second recharge time, and it doesn’t affect the length of Fear or Immobilize, two of the more controlling conditions)?
Or is it Skill 4 that immobilizes and steals health? Most skills with a 3 second immobilize have a 20 second recharge, and most skills that are similar to this (like Life Siphon) have a 12 second recharge, so I think 30 seconds is fair.
Or is it Skill 5? Come on Man, I need you guys to articulate what is wrong or overpowered with the skills. This, like many other threads, is a serious weapon suggestion with serious Skill examples. I want Anet to look at this and go
Anet Employee….Woah! This…Is…AWESOME! I’m going to tell the people in charge about this!
(note : not an actual quote
)
1) This is a sandbox. There is no reason to grind XP. No matter what you choose to do you level up at roughtly the same speed. The point is to do what you want where you want. You grind to get better LOOKING armor, not necessarily better armor. Since it’s far easier to get the stats you want than the look you want. Again, this is a Sandbox. The Achievement is not your level, it’s making the character you want it to be.
2) The point is that no matter what you do, how you choose to play, and where you choose to do it, you level at roughly the same speed. I have never, for instance, had a character reach Orr before they were already level 80. The point of moving on is not because you have to move on, it’s because you want to move on. Once again, this is a Sandbox.
3) The point of the system is not to make the game challenging for higher level character. If it were they failed misserably because level scaling doesn’t really account for the stat differences between a fully geared level 80 vs lower level zones where characters don’t even have as many stats available to them.
4) If you’re actually getting defeated in low level zones, you’re a terrible player. Period. You should be soloing champions and ripping the place apart without a concern in the world. Armor repairs really shouldn’t be a significant conern at all. Besides for the fact that the charge isn’t typically much more than waypointing. Lastly, if you’re repairing before something has broken, you’re doing it wrong.
I agree with every point you made.

I am sure that Anet has every possible weapon and skill planned for like, ever, its always fun to come up with new ideas when you’re bored.
GAUNTLETS
This is a new weapon idea I though of (also pulling some ideas that already existed in the Forums), and I think that these weapons would work very well for pretty much all Classes. They would work differently for all eight classes as well between actual martial arts and magic, and other awesome stuff.
And when I mean Gauntlets, I actually Mean Gauntlets, Cestus, Brass/Iron/etc. Knuckles, Bagh Nakh, Boxing Gloves, Scissors*, Clawed Weapons, Katar, etc. All these weapons rolled into one Catagory, for graphical variety of course. All of these weapons generally involve grasping whatever weapon you are holding, and punching, choping, and generally beating the heck out of whatever you are attacking.
Graphically, they would replace your currently equipped gloves with the weapon to prevent clipping and such, and also so the weapon would be clearly visible while you are pummeling your foes into submission. They would also stay on your character’s hands out of combat as well. Plus it will make a whole lot of Plain, Dull looking Light and Medium Armor gloves look alot better if they were never there at all.
*These Scissors : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scissor_(gladiator_type , not the kind you cut paper with…
Main Hand and Off Hand (Each has their own post to make it easier to read)
Necromancer – Would use the Gauntlets as a way of channeling their necrotic magics, inflicting conditions and stealing health mainly through touch skills.
Warrior – Would use these in a much more Power/Damage dealing type of way, using alot of techniques found in boxing and wrestling.
Engineer – Would have hidden compartments of course, to use extra attacks all while pummeling the crap out of their foes.
Ranger – They would use them in a savage, almost animalistic way, jumping across the battlefield stacking conditions and dealing damage alike.
Thief – Would be an expert in hand to hand combat, but might have a trick or two hidden up his sleeve (like a hidden blade maybe?)
Main Hand Only
Guardian – They will use their Fist of Justice to pound foes and also have a new symbol and ward spell to go along with it.
Elementalists and Mesmers – Sorry, I don;t play either class very often, so I am unsure of what to give them exactly. Hopefully someone has ideas. Same thing goes for a Guardian Offhand Gauntlet.
Keep Reading because the Necromancer’s is first!
(edited by Chrispy.5641)
I think they’re fine as is. If you want special effects get a weapon with special effects. If you don’t want special effects get a weapon without special effects.
I mean, adding something small yet improves the aesthetic aspect like leaving behind greenish afterimage upon attacks, etc wouldn’t hurt
It does not have to entirely change the design of the Jade skins itself, I personally like them too.
I like ‘Normal’ looking weapons in my MMO’s too. (though in Guild Wars 2, normal is a bit subjective…..)
I was going for some utility and not condis that would do damage. I was thinking some random non damaging condis wouldn’t be bad, and condi power wouldn’t affect them, but I could see some adjusts being in order. This was just a first go
Even on a first go, don’t just throw everything at it to see what sticks afterwards.
Here are my problems with the weapon and some solutions…
1) Skill 1, Quick Shot is a Ranger Skill that also applies swiftness, so the name should be changed to make it different. Plus depending on how fast the crossbow fires, 1 second of quickness is too much, since its a piercing attack and the way the skill description is read, it can apply 1 second of swiftness for each foe hit? Thats gives more than Infinite swiftness, and is too powerful.
- You need to change the skill description to make it clear that it applies swiftness only on the first enemy hit, and not each hit after because of the piercing
2) Skill 2 just seems pointless, you need to Flesh it out more. for example….
Stage 1 (1 second) : 600 Range, Standard Projectile Speed. Standard Damage.
Stage 2 (2 seconds) : 900 Range, 2x Projectile Speed. 2x Damage.
Stage 3 (3 seconds) : 1200 Range, 3x Projectile Speed. 3x Damage.
Aso, having no recharge time would just make Skill #1 pointless, and it would also allow the engineer to get 1/2 second of Quickness every 3/4-1 second, assuming there is no aftercast to this skill.
- This skill needs a recharge time or needs to be scrapped and a different skill put in place
3) a Knockdown And a Pull is WAY to powerful every 15 seconds, especially when you have two finishers and Torment on it. No Skill has a Knockdown with a Recharge time less than 30 seconds, and those that do are further down the sequence for other skills that have much longer recharge times. Likewise Pull skills don’t generally have a recharge time less than 15-20 seconds if it also applies other conditions.
- The Skill Recharge time of 15 seconds can stay, but instead of a knockdown at the start, just deal damage, then on the sequence when you pull, just have it pull the target to you and deal damage. No Torment, because the pull by itself is more than enough Utility.
- Also make it 900 range to bring it in line with other skills. Knocking off 100 range is not enough justification for all the other added stuff you had on it.
- Also remove the leap finisher because you aren’t leaping, the enemy is.
4)The first part of the skill is fine by itself….but there are other problems, such as the length those conditions and control effects would last.
5) The way that you described the last skill, it sounds like you are giving the ability to apply 5 dazes for 5 seconds for a total of a 5 second daze. That will destroy any player in WvW, and will mess up alot of boss fights, because Champions roaming the world have 3 stacks of defiant, meaning that you can daze him, over 3 seconds, remove those 3 stacks of defiant, then daze him again for another second, every 35 seconds. Too Powerful.
6) there are almost no weapons that have more than one control effect. The reason for this is that having access to those control effects, along with what you have on your utility skills and whatever your class mechanic gives you, basically gives you the ability to apply control effects endlessly which never gives other players (or enemies) a chance to respond.
- You need to choose between skills 3,4, and 5, and choose which control effect you like best and get rid of the other two.
I think I voiced my complaints about the weapon pretty well…
- 1
If they just improve the Pet AI (And not skirt the issue by comparing it to Warriors Dualwielding Greatswords), then no one would have any problems at all.
I want to see Crossbows, Whips, Land Spears, and even a Cestus in the game. But, don’t make the weapon ridiculously overpowered. You say its a power weapon, but 3 different skills have control effects(Daze/Pull) on it. Wouldn’t a power weapon normally be a damage dealer?
Except this isn’t really a new idea. This was a potential new player class for GW1 before Utopia was scrapped. I’m personally glad they scrapped this profession because it doesn’t sound that great in my opinion.
There’s already enough in this game that is steering it away from Fantasy RPG and this would only continue down that road.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Chronomancer#Professions
Reference. I’d prefer if the OP included this somewhere so that people aren’t thinking this is some new idea or original thought.
hmmm,….there was an idea for a Summoner Class……….
…WOAH!…Thanks, I just got an idea….
Maybe it’s a little nit-picky but wouldn’t it make more sense if the graffiti was in New Krytan instead of plain English?
…Maybe Scarlett is actually not from Tyria?
Edit – My mind is starting to melt from the possibilities now…..THANKS!
Playing as bad guys won’t work game.
But I would like to play a hero with a dark side (mercenary, real thief, spy, or letting us choose which factions to help in a LS).
IT\t does you let the bad guys and good guys carve out territories in game and kill each other. It would be simple too have a setting under game options titled affiliation which will change depending on living world and give you a sub title. Of Course there would be a neutral option too. It would be one way to let people shape the world as they want it. let people fight on side they want during living stories not the side you decide Anet. This would make a true living world.
WvW says hi.
^Seriously…..
If you want to play as a bad guy, go play WoW, go play LOTRO Monster play, or go play Wildstar or Everquest Next when it comes out. Heck, go play as a space pirate and gank poor defensless players all day in Eve Online. Just don’t try to make Guild Wars 2 into something the series has never been.
The Heavy Armor Hood needs to be Heavy Armor themed though, like a Chainmail or Scalemail hood. Another example would be a leather hood, but its got metal plates running along the edges of the hood.
Why, really? Works great with cloth only for these guys:
http://xboxoz360.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/darksiders-oxcgn-10.jpg
1) Okay, so the guy is big and has metal shoulder pads, so that means that is heavy armor, right? Even though 75% of his armor is cloth and leather, and there is no other indication that he is wearing heavy armor in that picture?
2) My Point still stands. He has a Mask/Helmet made of the same material as the rest of his armor underneath that hood, making it heavy armor themed. His robe has Metal all over it, making it heavy armor themed.
I think there are easier ways to create the diversity we want without forcing ArenaNet to continuously create brand new content. Remove armor restrictions. Increase stat bonuses on light armor slightly and decrease them slightly on heavy armors to account for the variation in armor values, but remove the mechanic that players can only wear a certain type of armor.
Do that, and we’ll have robed guardians, armored mesmers, rangers which look like they might belong to a military scout unit — all sorts of creativity options open up. Then the only thing to do is periodically add themed armor like ArenaNet is already doing.
Failing that, an alternative is to borrow an idea from LOTRO and create a costume panel that overrides the worn armor of the character to create a more personalized appearance. Give the transmutation stones an option to turn an armor piece into a costume piece that acts only as a cosmetic skin for the costume panel. Once made a costume piece, it wears as that — armor restrictions, again, would not apply. So you could take light gloves, medium chest and legs, and combine it all with a heavy shoulder and helm to create something all your own. And since transmutation are involved, and retain their current use, ArenaNet can still make money off people trying to look the way they want.
Ah, Lord of the Rings Online, I loved that game. Its a Game that does almost everything right, and better than most other MMO’s that released 3-5 years after LOTRO did.
Well, I am pretty sure that you still can’t have a Light armor class in that game wear heavy armor, even if it was converted for cosmetic purposes. That game does have Hauberks and other lighter armored Outfits that you can wear across all classes.
Last thing is, you need to consider why Warriors can only wear heavy armor in the game. I’ll give you a hint. It involves PvP and WvW.
hand to hand combat would kinda be like the boxing gloves… :o
Why not a Cestus, or Gauntlets with spikes on the knuckles? Or the Katar even? Forget those puny boxing gloves! But unarmed….thats a No Go.
Agreed and sellable
They’d be on the TP for under 10c. I guarantee it.
I fixed it for you. There are literally millions of these things floating around in everyone’s bank!
I like the Warrior rifle… 15k Bursts with the adrenalin skill is pretty cool.
But in my opinion they should give the Ranger a rifle. Why the hell does a Ranger, a Hunter of the Wild, have no clue how to use a rifle? Give him that, with 1500 Range with the Traits in a perfect scenario my Norn can be a Sniper.
the ranger as defined as being one with nature…the ranger would basically get rid of that i think, although i do agree they should have some sort of longer ranged weapon. how are guns in this game but not crossbows?
Guns didn’t really coexist with crossbows very well. They have the same strengths and weaknesses, so guns were used instead of crossbows whenever they were available.
Time for a History Lesson!!!
Crossbows eventually replaced Bows in many parts of Europe by the 1200’s, but have been in use since the Greek and Romans. An example of where Crossbows did not Replace Longbows was in England, as well as Hungary
Both Fell out of Favor by the 16th Century though, because Advances in Guns eventually made them a better choice (well…the cheaper choice). The problem though, was that the Longbow and Crossbow Both were far more accurate and faster firing weapons than Guns until Rifiling was advanced enough to become reliable.
There were efforts to try to revive the Longbow as a result, because a well trained Archer was always better than some peasant recruited and given an inaccurate musket. There were efforts to use the Longbow for military purposes until as late as the 1790’s (including by Benjamin Franklin).
Also, did you know that there was actually a kill in WWII made with a Longbow? Here is the wikipedia article:::
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Churchill
All I’m saying is, is that until about 1500, Crossbows and Longbows were quite widely used, but were replaced by guns because guns were cheaper, but, had history been different, the Longbow would have been a viable and deadly weapon until about 1800.
I only talked about Europe, The Bow and Crossbow both were used for much longer in other parts of the world.
This history lesson was brought to you by Chrispy
Now…Whose to say that in Tyria that Bows and Crossbows(if they even exist) are supposed to fade into history because of guns? They aren’t. Why couldn’t they have evolved and gotten better over time alongside guns? In a fantasy world with as much magic as there is technology, what’s wrong with that?
Except that if you aren’t holding a weapon, there goes a huge chunk of your stats that you wouldn’t be able to use, automatically making you weaker than a character holding a weapon.
I have like 6 mini risen priests of Balthazar in the bank and one I always carry around with me, and I would like to waste 4 of them to get a differet exotic mini, the Problem with that is that the Exotic Minis are extremely rare and valuable, and it would crash that part of the game’s economy if we could just forge new ones.
My Suggestion would be to let us use the Mystic Forge, Throw in a Mini Risen Preist of Balthazar, and 3 other materials, and out pops an exotic mini version of the other Risen Bosses of Orr, still account bound of course (which I think is important). The Materials could be stuff we have way too much of, such as the piles of Putrid essence.
The Heavy Armor Hood needs to be Heavy Armor themed though, like a Chainmail or Scalemail hood. Another example would be a leather hood, but its got metal plates running along the edges of the hood.
Not matter what happens on Tuesday, its eventually going to end badly for Scarlett,…and possible several other characters that we hate.
Should have voted to Evon, He has to recover his losses, and he’s suckering everyone into spending money anyways, just not on Keys.
Except, that you have to make 40 different Profession specific storylines because there are 5 different races in 5 different locations across Tyria. You can’t have the Ranger quest only in the Shiverpeaks where the grawl are poisoning the oakhearts, and you can’t just have any Necromancer be summoned to Grenth’s Domain because only one of the races even cares about the god’s existence. The Charr Necromancer might even Attack Grenth on sight.
I would love to see Profession specific Quests though, after the Personal Story or alongside it so five million different versions don’t need to be created, but it has to be a job that only that Profession can do. A Ranger can’t do the Thief quest, and the Thief can’t do the Ranger’s Quest, etc.
And completing the quest either way gives you a skill point and some loot, but,..Apparently since all MMO’s have traditional Quests except Guild Wars 2, its Bad.
Dynamic Events, good. Quests, bad (well, according to developer interviews from 2010 atleast)
Scaling Instances would be a cool idea. Lord of the Rings Online has something that was Extremely Awesome and it completely Destroys Fractals, atleast based on the idea alone.
It was called Skirmishes. You could edit the Level of the Skirmish, the Number of Players, and the Difficulty level. Rewards obviously was better the more Players, the Higher Level, and the higher the difficulty level.
If Anet had something like this, where you can edit the Dungeon/Instance along the same lines, and have loot scale the same way, then it would be a much, much better system than what they have now. Anet could even let us play dungeons at level 80 instead of being scaled like it is now, which is where many of the problems with farming dungeons comes from, because a Level 80 character with full exotic gear is always stronger than any other character of an equally scaled down level.
As An idea, If you do a Dungeon, as one player, and on the lowest difficulty, and at the lowest level, you only get like 5 Dungeon Tokens and 10 silver, it will literally take about 15 minutes to do though so the reward is justified.
But if you do a Dungeon with 5 Players, on the highest Difficulty, at Level 80, you get 250+ Tokens and several Gold. But, a Level 80 Dungeon is difficult, and takes much longer with a much higher difficulty level, and takes 3-5 hours to complete.
We should have a lazy orange cat that does nothing, would work well with the current meta of dead pet due to OHKO mechanisms.
Like this?
Here is a Eurogamer article explaining why they made a Guardian instead of a Monk:::
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-01-27-guild-wars-2-guardian-replaces-monk
It should also explain pretty well why a priest class doesn’t exist.
that item would let you to change traits during a battle for example in wvw ( go inside keep wait a kittenange traits to aoe dmg and defend) that would be unfair
If you’re out of combat you can change your skills, equipment, and even your major traits. Why would changing trait points be so bad?
Especially since the last two content releases both force us to change around and experiment with our builds, completely negating any sense of permanancy that Anet originally intended by making us go back into towns to change out traits.
I wouldn’t mind buying a manual. from a trainer that I could carry around, even if it costed a little more to use.
ok one elderscrolls does not own dragonborn if any one it be wizards of coast. due to dungens dragons. but dragon born existed before that as its same name for dragon kin or dragon souled or so on. its to generic to copyright cause its used to much. be liek tryign to copy right the word A [yes A is letter and a word technicly lol]
Funny thing, Bethseda tried to copyright the word Scrolls, and brough a lawsuit against another company for having that word in their game’s title.
Its also like when Games Workshop tried to ‘Own’ the word “Space Marines” last year.
This is years after the fact that games like Starcraft and Halo used the term. Granted, They had been using the term Space Marine since 1987 and are the only tabletop game company that used the word…..Except for a game, literally called “Space Marines” that existed in 1980. Games Workshop was also completely ignorant of the fact that novels have used the phrase….since 1932.
As far as Dragonborn goes, they did exist as a seperate race in Dungeons and Dragons, but I can’t find evidence that it was used before that (because Google floods the results with Skyrim and only that game, even after filtering out several words).
Regardless of that, We don’t need Characters to have Dragon Powers to be on an equal playing field with the Dragons. You should read into the lore of the game (on the game’s wiki, because sources in the game are few and far between), There was Races that existed that last time the Dragons rose, and you will see why we don;t need a Dragonborn character.
1) Cannons are not guns. It is lore that the Charr invented personal firearms.
2-4)That’s the main problem as I see it too.
1) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun
“A gun is a normally tubular weapon or other device designed to discharge projectiles or other material”
You made the mistake of saying guns. You should’ve said “Cannons are not Firearms”, then you would be right.
2-4) yeah, we need to work on that if Rangers are to ever get rifles, otherwise, its not gonna happen.
…Maybe The millions of gold Players were making off of Deadeye was casuing Server Crashes? So when Anet Fixed Various Server Crashes, they had to Fix Deadeye as well? That had to be it!!
….
….No?….
….
…I’ll see myself out…
Still farmable with guard, mesmer and thief.
And Ranger (but its way more annoying than before….)
Also, like I suggested before, the next time the Queen’s Gauntlet comes around, Please Limit the number of rewards we can get from Matches every day, instead of making things harder, because players will always find a way around hard bosses. Actual hard limits set into the code? not so much…
Yeah, because why does money matter? why is showing off so important, if you’re not having fun, you’re not doing it right. That kind of mentality is kind of dumb. but I will say i was messing around with runes of the flock, with 4 of them the bird that is summoned blind and it’s once every 10 seconds, I wasn’t trying with gambits cuz runes of the flock, but I wonder if there’s any potential with those runes, even though it is a gamble
If its once every 10 seconds, it still might not work, because Deadeye does his killshot about every 5 seconds now. Plus the bird will probably kill itself by running over all the mines on its way to him anyways.
Is this guy serious? I’m sorry but it seems this guy is just flooding the forums with all his troll threads.
He made a thread asking for deadeye to be nerfed, and then made a huge thread thanking anet for nerfing deadeye so he can ‘move on to other aspects of the game’.
And now he’s made a new thread asking for advice and builds on how to efficiently farm it again. I’m sorry I never personally call anyone out on the forums like this, but there’s something intrinsically wrong with this person.
It seems that there’s a genuine difficulty in understanding the motivations of farmers and people like. In good faith, I’ll try and explain:
1. I always do the most profitable thing in the game
2. I would prefer the most profitable activity to be fun
3. Hence I was complaining that farming Deadeye was boring
4. But since there are still builds allowing him to be farmed I have to do it (Refer 1)Is this really so difficult to understand? If so, please let me know and I’ll try and explain.
Instead of that I’m being called a troll etc etc. Why?
Dude….
- Its because you created a Thread Talking about how boring the event, you can just Faceroll and make so much gold by doing nothing.
- Then you make a thread thanking Anet for nerfing Deadeye,
- Then a few minutes later, you make a thread asking for new builds to farm the new version of Deadeye, because if finally got “interesting” enough to where you can’t Faceroll him in 4 seconds. (it takes 10 seconds to kill him now because instead of any actual pattern, like all the other bosses in Queen’s Gauntlet, its all random now, which is probably for the better, but its just annoying rather then fun because of the randomness)
(serious) No offense, but people are going to accuse you of Trolling just because of those three things, no matter what you say, no matter what, because it ticked off alot of people when Deadeye got nerfed and they lost their access to all their gold farming.
(not so serious)According to the unwritten, unpublished, and banned everywhere, Rules of the Internet, Published atleast 100 years ago, what you did is exactly how Trolls act, whether it was your intention or not, and its not going to change anyone’s opinions.
And how does that relate to the Charr and Asura? The Charr who invented Fire Arms and are 100% at home with all things mechanical. Do you really think an Iron Legion Ranger wouldn’t be into guns, just because he has access to nature magic?
The Asura are all about all things science and magic. They should have laser rifles, let alone the standard flintlock type. Guns don’t interfere in any way with someones attunement to nature. Simply put Rangers are hunters, and every hunter in the game uses a rifle, so it should be available to Rangers.
The only legitimate argument against rifles for a Ranger is the question of what they would do that would set them sufficiently apart from Longbow, or Warrior.
honestly a ranger with rifle would be cool but i dont think its going to happen.
i could think of something for the ranger with a gun
skill 1 hunters shot, strikes a weak point making target vulnerable
skill 2 poison shot, inflicts poison for XX duration
skill 3 some sort of area attack sortof like barrage
skill 4 snipers shot, hits the target in the head stunning them
skill 5 again not sure.it would be a condition type weapon mainly, but i think it would work.
1) Cantha had Siege Turtles with Cannons on their backs in Gw1, so they invented guns technically.
2) Shortbow and Axe are both already condition weapons, and ranged weapons too, so it would just be a variation of those weapons…
3) I tried to think of a Rifle idea, but I didn’t really like it all that much now the more I thought about it because of the mechanics that go with it. (plus its 99% a condition weapon anyways…) (which is here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/Ranger-Weapon-and-Skill-Building/2593516), also, it ended up more as a Tranquilizer gun instead of an actual rifle.
4) We need a a Rifle that isn’t like the Warrior or Engineer’s Rifle, but also isn’t a retread of the Longbow or Shortbow either (or the Axe). That’s going to be a hard thing for Anet to do, unless the Rifle shoots Hornets or something? (I think I suggested that before already too….)
I’m sorry dude, I just can’t take you seriously anymore, but I will be a polite player and help you out….
Ranger build is the same for me though, so is the order of skills used. It takes about 15 seconds longer, and is much, much harder.
*Full Rabid Gear with Earth Sigils, Traited for Signets and Condition Damage.
*Use Rampage as One before entering the arena.
*Path of scars, Eagle F2, Signet of the Wild.
*Winter’s Bite, SplitBlade, then Whirling Defense. Use Sharpening Stone after you activate Whirling Defense.
*He teleports somewhere by the time you finish using Whirling Defense, and immediately uses the killshot. Use Signet of Stone, then switch to Shortbow, and start spamming 1.
*Use Concussion Shot when he starts to use the Killshot. When he tries to killshot again 2 seconds later, use Quickshot to evade.
*If he isn’t dead yet, then you need to get better gear (as in use Exotics).
On an Alternate Ranger Build, you can use full Berzerker’s gear, and kill him just as fast by spamming 1 on any weapon, and being aware of that killshot move.
Now how are the people who DIDNT abuse it meant to get the 5 gambit win?
I only just found out about this & thanks for the nerf.. NOTJust nerf his loot not the fight
…You can still do it with 5 gambits very easily…
Edit : As a Better Idea, instead of nerfing the loot, how about in the future, Instead of ZOMG! Stealth Nerf!!!!
Instead, Anet makes it to where we can only get rewards from a certain number of matches per day? Like 25 matches top? That makes the maximum amount of gold you can get about 12.
After that, we just get the same number of tickets as we gambled, plus one extra?
Because, people can still farm this into the ground and walk away with quite a bit of gold. Limiting the amount of gold they can get per day would be a much better way to deal with this. Yes, over 30 days its still 360 gold, but its not several thousand like some people were trying to do.
(edited by Chrispy.5641)
Rangers can still Kill him with 4 gambits too. Just tested it. It takes alot longer though, you still have to know when to use that signet of stone and your heals, otherwise, you get fairly easily flattened, just like before it was changed.
A few points though…
- Like someone above said, deadeye shoots you pretty much once the match starts,….with his killshot too.
- Deadeye seems to teleport now way more often, seems like every 5 seconds.
- Teleports are also random.
- His Killshot seems to activate twice as often as well.
…I feel bad for Warriors. I don’t think they can do this anymore…..
(I’m going to add them as I go…)
Edit – Ouch….Its hard, But its still doable with Rangers on 5 gambits, barely.
Edit 2 – Even more ouch. With Frailty on, I down instantly because Deadeye instantly uses his killshot first.
Edit 3 – Sometimes, even without Frailty, his Killshot insta downs me from the middle of the ring.
Edit 4 – Also, Even while I am pulling him with Path of Scars, His killshot goes off anyways instead of interrupting, which is when it inta downs me. I think that has something to do with connection speed though, not the fight itself. Still annoying though…
Edit 5 – His Killshot continues to activate even in the middle of teleporting, as well as any other skill he is using. giving you very little time to react if he does teleport and the attack goes off.
Edit 6 – …..Don’t Forget the mines that explode and respawn every coupld of seconds. Also don’t forget the one that is immediately to your left when the match starts…
Edit 7 – My Synopsis. Anet is still worse at “fixing” things than they are at “breaking” them!
Edit 8 – Put quotation marks around fixing and breaking.
Edit 9 – Since there is no discernable pattern anymore, does Deadeye even belong in the Queen’s Gauntlet anymore? Considering that all the other bosses have specific patterns of attack and movement?

Sorry, I didn;t see this part:::
The Adventurer’s Map:
The Summary Pane would be modified to instead be an Adventurer’s Map, with easily selectable regions, that would then become easily selectable areas. I.e. Metrica Province > Soren Draa.
