Will Glamour builds actually be broken? My guild’s Mesmers run Condition/Glamour builds currently and I’d like to know if it’s actually going to hurt that bad if they don’t swap over to Power builds.

Can Glamour builds be run on Power setups?

None of it’s written in stone yet, but if some of the prospected changes do go through, there’s a strong possibility that I will reroll Warrior for WvW.

No point in playing a Heavy class that can’t even play front-line or Command without being shredded THROUGH my blocks and invulnerabilities…you know, my only anti-bursts besides dodges.

If anyone figures out a way to introduce significantly more damage to the build without giving up the tankiness needed to take on 2-4 players at a time, please share it. I spent a lot of time fiddling with numbers, but since I started commanding far more often, I’m less worried about increasing my output than staying alive while leading.

Medium to large group play. 15-50 people.

I’ve decided to roll with a power Wellomancer build on my Necromancer, likely in Knight’s/Emerald gear. Now I’m struggling with trait distribution and non-Staff weapon choices. Please post your ideas and back them up with a brief description if you’re so inclined to help me — and I’m sure many others — out a little bit.

Edit: The build is for WvW and does not necessarily need to have ground-targeted wells.

It’s a server issue wherein the map’s server bottlenecks when enough skills are being fired off at the same time. That’s why it’s mostly a problem in T1 and T2 where large zergs are very common and come into contact with each other quite often.

Edit: Also, it’s ruining my desire to stay in either of these tiers at all.

Which is more valuable to you/your build and why? If you have some math to back up your choice, please include it.

Basically, I’m crazy and I’m trying to figure out which defensive stat to spend large amounts of money on for +5 stat infusions. I have 2,950 armor (1,749 Toughness) and 15,515 health without infusions. Halp. :>

I will only be using two defensive infusions, the rest are offensive.

An adventure was had today on SoR BL.

I honestly don’t see a big enough issue with it in any aspect of the game.

My current thoughts are a power Well build with Staff and…Dagger MH, something-something OH.

I’d like to avoid zerker gear considering I’m primarily a WvWer and am not really into being the first one down in a group, heh. That said, I also plan to command and am going to be at or near the head of a lot of groups and can’t afford to be squishy.

So would one recommend Knight’s, Soldier’s, perhaps something else or a mix thereof?

I’ll be commanding with a Necromancer at some point in the future, and I’d like to run a Well/mark build. Would it make more sense to go with condition damage or a power build? (I’d probably run Rabid for condi, Soldier’s or Knight’s for power.)

Four months later, an update on my lovely Guardian.

The first two screens are from my first month or so of play, the second two screens are from a month later after I’d picked up my T3, and now I’ve finally completed my legendary. ^^

Only thing left for me to do for my legendary is buy the Shards for my Gift of Mastery. I’ll love somebody forever if they’d kindly inform me in-game of when anyone’s Temple is uncontested.

I’ve had scattered success with 0/0/30/20/20 (running AH). I still prefer the basic 0/0/10/30/30 though.

You know, the flat levelling curve with a bunch of words they didn’t really believe in because 7 months out from the gate and they supplement their levelling curve with a tonne of systems which exactly mimic traditional MMO skinner box progression?

We moved level grind progressions into WvW ranks and real time gated gear grinds. Look at how unique and innovative we are as a company. It’s totally not the same thing that’s been done before that we criticised for prioritising time sinks and psychology tricks over fun and engaging content you want to play rather than feel obligated to repeat to advance.

Promote and launch the game on one philosophy, develop and grow the game on the one you said you set out to avoid. I wish there was more integrity in GW2s continued development.

I’m rank 4, despite the fact that WvW is all I ever used to do. Been too busy with my legendary grind. Almost done.

It’s worth it if you/your group aren’t hurting for condition removal. The heal may seem negligible, but make no mistake that it’s very valuable over the course of an engagement.

The best part is being able to fight groups of enemies (in WvW) alone.

Fear is a CC/stun-like ability, not a condition.

Pulling stealthed players still works just fine.

If you’re separated more than 600 meters before you make the pull, it will fall off. That’s the leashing distance for the DoT.

I guess it might. I tried it for a bit and didn’t like it as much as the extra Vit and passive regen from Magno Pie (which scales with +healing WvW bonuses, by the way).

Well, if you can play the AH build, then you play this one. I’ve used the AH build and found the Hammer to be too slow. I don’t want to say this one is easier but you don’t have to do the whole animation dancing that you do when using the AH build.

I still pack a hammer just because I’m a mean person and enjoy punting people off strange places out in WvWvW using Banish But honestly, it comes in handy farming too. Greatsword and Hammer mows down Risen…

I actually carry a hammer to switch to after 25 stacks of BL with my Sword/Focus if I’m running with a group (need those blast finishers and CC for group combat). For solo play I still run Sword/Focus because, well….it’s just better for me. Getting immobilized is catastrophic and the defensive utility provided by the sword is too valuable.

Although I don’t know what you mean by animation dancing…I’ve heard there’s a way to shorten the animation of the third hammer strike, but I’m clueless.

I did buy some clerics gear just basic rare gear didnt go too far into it but I notice as guardian we turn into big hit me signs. I take a lot more damage it seems using this build.

Rares have lower Defense, and I guess if you’re used to AH you’re used to having an extra 200 Toughness as well. This build’s less about taking bigger hits and more about triage.

It’d give you a whole lot of stuff you don’t need (condition damage, magic find). The small amount of precision and crit damage also means nothing when your crit chance is already so low compared to having more of stats you can actually use like Power, Tough, and Vit.

I view divine items (all-stats) as…well, a waste of time. At least for this build.

He could probably see your account or character name in the invitation if he was far enough away from you that “blahblah Invader/Defender” didn’t show up instead (or if you were on different maps at that point).

I know for certain that character names will show up in the invitation if either of you had switched maps.

The exact incident I’m referring to was several months ago (when I was first getting into WvW) and dueling was a big thing between BG and SoR. I was invited to several PvP guilds while I was still indecisive about my home in GW2. I spent some time with them in the SoR TS and found the number of younger members to be a little too high. I assume they were younger because they talked A LOT and had that voice; you know the one.

Aside from reports of trash talking and lack of civility I’ve received from other players and seen here on the forums (not just in this tier, mind you), I’ve been the target of unprovoked verbal attack more than a few times. I assume it’s because of my videos and whatnot, but many “hardcore” PvPers seem to think that they have to call out anyone they 1) happen to beat under any circumstance, 2) see produce any form of public PvP/WvW content, or 3) so much as see in chat. It’s an irritating trend that I see almost exclusively in self-proclaimed pro/dedicated/hardcore PvP players and guilds.

An example of good sportsmanship is HB, just off the top of my head. Extremely good players, solid leadership, and they aren’t kittens about it.

I also said nothing about what “SoR is about.” I have a ton of respect for the majority of the WvW guilds there, it’s just that a few of them haven’t given me a reason to respect them yet. For example, I can respect FEAR for how talented some of their members are, but I can’t respect them for their uncivil behavior as a group a lot of the time.

I’m no longer participating in this conversation. I have a bunch of “PvPers” to make look like PvE heroes on YouTube.

What group home did you grow up in where the definition of competitive is to talk trash totally unprovoked? Having a competitive mindset and playing competitively are one thing. Being disrespectful without provocation is another.

As far as sportsmanship goes, I spoke in the context of the disrespect shown by so many PvP guilds to their opponents, not in reference to the GvG incident. A good sport relays some semblance of “good game” to their opponents after a fight, if any kind of communication is made at all, and doesn’t make an effort to troll/talk trash to/in any other way offend for no better reason than that the offending player is a generally crummy person.

I live by the same rules; if it’s red, it’s dead. However, I also play to help my server and not be a total bookah (lols). And if we’re really playing for cool/style points, I’m wayyy ahead. =3

People used to ask me why I wouldn’t join a dedicated PvP guild while I was on SoR, and I always had to tell them that it was because of the blatant disrespect their members always showed for each other and for their opponents. It’s just more satisfying to stomp people like that than it is to stomp people who have some degree of sportsmanship.

Plus a lot of them sounded like 16 year olds in VOIP…wasn’t really into that.

The larger the engagement, the less it really matters. But even in smaller fights (1v1, 3v3, 5v5, etc.), the difference is negligible with what we have available at present.

When using multi-hit attacks, the damage that you see pop up on your screen is usually the total amount done by the rapid strikes. If you hit 6 times very quickly, it’ll show the total amount of damage done by those 6 hits, not the damage per.
