The only things I actually care about are the peg legs, and that’s just because I think it’s funny to use them while in Plush Griffon form to freak people out.
My YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/ChrisDawnheart
My primary focus right now is Guardian videos with some dabbling in Necromancer PvP. I also post occasional humor/skill-based videos for other games. The future holds many new and fun styles of content on my channel, so I hope you can find some time to go and check it out. ^^ If you like what you see, feel free to subscribe!
I’d probably just run something else until you can afford at least rares in addition to the energy sigils. You can get PTV gear from karma to hold you over for a bit if needed.
It’s a free two blinds and a double condition removal/regen application when used properly.
There’s a trick to fighting Necros. You have to play extremely defensively.
Edit: It’s pretty fun to flip on the trait for faster meditation recharges and put on Contemplation of Purity before engaging a Necro too. Pop SY, get converted, re-convert. Fight over unless you stand in wells a bunch, but why would you?

Sure thing. Next video will be up in a couple of hours.
Yes, it will.
Also, boon durations from each shout stack. You can burn them together most of the time without having to worry too much about it.
I haven’t been awake long, so maybe I’m just blanking on this, but what is MW?
Gear-wise, things that can get you killed with this build include not having Superior Sigils of Energy (absolutely required, and major won’t cut it) and a large enough deficiency of toughness or healing power. Not having any Cleric’s jewelry at all can cause that.
I usually just leave when a Thief rolls up to me with a perma-stealth build. It’s hard enough for higher damage builds to kill them before they run off, so I usually don’t bother. There shouldn’t be any reason that they can kill you while you try to leave; just make them waste their time until you get to a tower or zerg.
That said, it is possible to kill most stealth Thieves of average skill. Making effective use of the GS 5 skill when they stealth (or to interrupt their heal) can completely destroy them. Retal and burn blocks are also great for softening them up.
This build does have a learning curve. Just takes some practice.
Thanks for the comments everyone. Glad you’re enjoying the build.
While ascended gear certainly is not a requirement to play this build effectively, I believe that substituting at least the rings for ascended PTV can be advantageous in the areas of burst survival and damage output. I have serious reservations about taking an amulet as well though. The healing power loss is a little too severe after a third replacement.
A lot of work is going to go into finding a reasonable balance between survival and acceptable damage output once ascended Cleric’s gear is released, but that’s a bridge I’ll cross when I get there.
After a bit of a break from GW2 videos, I’d like to let those of you that watch my channel know that I’ll be putting out one new Guardian video today and at least another 1-2 before the end of the week. I’ll edit later with the links as per usual.

As promised, another video before the end of the weekend. And it’s a doozy.

I’m assuming it counts the hammer hit itself.
I use it to teleport onto allies on platforms above me in jumping puzzles. That’s about it.
I’ve never even managed to get it to do that – doesn’t there need to be a path to the friendly anyway (ie. without jumping)?
You would think so, but it works in a few places. In particular, there are one or two spots which can be teleported to in the EB JP; one near the log traps and one in the arena.
What causes this?
Magic, of course.
It’ll make more sense after you watch this video. Enjoy.

The block is extremely powerful, and if you don’t run a spec with reduced signet cooldown it’s on a 10s shorter recharge than SoR.
I’ve noticed no real difference aside from the ratio of baddies to allies once I’ve rendered to my cap, which is usually only during 3-sided fights.
Virtues don’t work in transformations.
I feel like this build as well as Chris’ is pretty good except you’ll never kill anyone. If you can manage to dps someone down (after a long while) they’ll almost always have to option to just run away from you with great ease. How do you deal with that?
Damage output is probably higher than you think. The typical PTV player can’t just run away. They’ll still die in a reasonable amount of time unless they’re an Ele or Thief considering how many abilities they have to gain distance.
Obviously a bunker can just run away, but that’s beside the point. People just have a hard time thinking a build can stop runners just because it lacks crit or a higher base pool of power compared to Knight’s and what-not.
Food+Utility nourishment, in addition to whatever stacks of Bloodlust and some select PTV pieces (ascended), provide more than enough damage to make short work of runners. Actually understanding how to play the build and adjust your strategy helps as well.

When it comes to things like Entangling Roots, your best defense is either to teleport out of it OR to use a condition removal and immediately dodge roll out while the immobilize is off. It’s reapplied after 1s if the roots are still alive, so you have to dodge out fast.
Condition removal will get rid of the immobilize condition.
Bash, I hate your armor’s color scheme.
…just saying.
Looks almost identical to male Human T3 cultural. You won’t finding anything closer. Likely an older concept of that armor, as stated above.
All I have to say is “:(”
This pleases me.
Not me. My luck with clovers makes it near impossible. 3 out of 30-something singles and half a dozen 10-sets.
Glad you’re liking it.
I think FDS is perfect…I’d hate to have to find a new weapon just because they make the flame skinny or short (which would look nothing like it did in GW1).
I never would have noticed that if you hadn’t brought it up. I mean, I wasn’t going to get it anyway because of the poor contrast between the flame and hilt (the hilt should have been silver like in GW1, not the bland white that it is), but…still.
Yes, the point is to have extended duration for all boons. You can substitute Altruism in the place of Monk’s at the expense of some healing power.
While the PvE perspective is appreciated, my sole interest is currently WvW. ^^
Sounds like something that could use some testing in sPvP or PvE.
It would leave you with little to no base damage or toughness.
How do people feel about focus for condition-based builds?
I’d go with Cleric’s. Vitality with no Toughness is…well, silly.
They confirmed that they’re going to introduce more stat combos later.
Good stuff. I like Spectral Walk and Grasp a lot, but Corrupt Boon and Epi will likely see a lot of bar time for me. If I want to spend a trait slot on ranged wells, I can see WoC spending a lot of time in my third slot as well, but… I really don’t know yet. Hm.
Healway lets you melee as long as you have the sense to dodge. Zerker builds let you do that too though. I usually run melee glass cannon setups in fractals these days.
Yep, happens to me all the time.
And I need to be educated on what to and what not to do when gearing and traiting my Necromancer. I’ve never been one for looking up a build and just using that, but I am interested in hearing what the experienced Necromancer community considers to be must-haves trait/weapon/whatever-wise for a commanding Wellomancer.
Primarily I’d like to be able to assist in tearing down enemy turtles and zergs via boon rips and condition stacking, so I assume that Corrupt Boon and Well of Corruption are must-haves. What about the third utility? Another well, Epidemic, or..? Why?
Staff is a given; what about the off-set weapons though? Rabid, Carrion, or Apothecary? How does the community feel about Well of Blood in group situations?
I apologize for all the questions, I really just like to have as wide a base of information and opinions as possible before setting out to create my builds. Any information or resources you may be able to provide will be greatly appreciated. :>

So this is the build that Ascii uses.
I mean, I’m assuming.
The video is being reuploaded to fix a few minor issues. It’ll be live at http://youtu.be/_POcBZKtBb4 in roughly half an hour.
The fact is that melee assist isn’t required.
Don’t know what you’re talking about.
One of the major selling points of this build is the ability to dodge so often, giving you constant evasions and healing, so it’s my opinion that anything besides superior energy would hurt the build pretty badly.
On paper, that stat allotment is more efficient, but it’s assuming 25 stacks of Life. I also have to account for ascended rings which offer no custom gem slot.
However, the biggest thing is the reliance on a full or near-full stack of Life to cover for the loss through gear. 250 healing power is a big blow, no lie. Sure, it’d be great when you had a full stack, but how often will that happen unless you’re running in a zerg?
Good points though. I’ve been meaning to look into reworking the build a bit without it having to rely on a stackable sigil. This is something I can use.
Edit: I don’t change too much for dungeons. I’ll swap to the consecration trait and run WoR for a lot of stuff, but any little changes really depend on the dungeon. I’ve actually taken to running glass cannon builds in PvE though. It’s just faster as long as you don’t get hit.

I’m still told that my build is garbage by AH and sword-crit Guardians on a regular basis.
I intentionally went full healing power just because my research showed that 90% of the community hated it and said it was garbage. Everything else was kind of a fluke; to be honest, I didn’t even realize that retaliation was up 100% of the time and was really helping until I started working on my 1v4 & 1v2 video from a month ago.
I was a noob and I got lucky. :>
He’d take damage for each meteor that connects with a player that has retaliation.
No footage of hammer gameplay yet. A guildmate told me it wouldn’t work on mobile for him either. It’s due to copyrights (I need to start using more royalty-free music…), so I’ll be unable to fix that. Sorry. :/
