You might find this build interesting.
The weapons are interchangeable, so you could easily use a hammer instead of GS.

So if I and several other people decide we’re having really solid luck with loot, and we come in and find a post about how drops might have been buffed, that would make it true?
Because I haven’t exactly been getting no rares or exotics or anything. Either way, they’ve already confirmed that they haven’t messed with the loot rates. RNG is RNG and this sample size is incredibly tiny.
Jennur’s, much like everything else, became a joke after the 7-hero updated. However, back at Nightfall release…I’d rather have died than do that mission more than once, especially on Hard Mode. It was like trying to kill Rotscale at release.
Power of suggestion. You see these posts, you suddenly “notice” more blues and greens in your runs, you decide it’s a reason to believe that they nerfed rare and exotic drops.
It’s in your head.
Considering we’ve known that transfers would not be free forever since pre-launch, it’s your own fault for not hopping on long enough to move your account when your guild did. If you aren’t willing to throw a bit of gold or cash at moving to play with your friends in WvW, you don’t want to badly enough. 1800 gems isn’t that much.
The cost is there to enforce some semblance of server loyalty and to support ANet’s continuing efforts to improve the game. So please, if you’re going to quit, just quit. You did it to yourself by procrastinating on your transfer.
Shield to counter refuge. Why didn’t I think of that…
I’ve been trying out hammer because of your videos lately. Still not my favorite weapon in the world, but it is pretty lulzy to screw with large groups with all of that area denial.

The second WvW Minitage is officially up. :> Please enjoy. Blocked in Germany currently, but I’ll see about making another cut with different music.

It has not.

You should also decide if you want to be more fragile but dish out more damage, or if you want to play something that does a little less but is much tougher to kill.
Like Pure of Voice. Make that usable.
Well, MORE usable.
Warriors have more readily viable builds. Warriors have (way) more damage potential. Warriors have far more viable weapon and trait options. Warrior survival can be absolutely insane if built for, primarily through the use of healing shouts and banners.
Guardian survival can be absolutely insane if built for. I don’t see any issue with either the sword or scepter. Virtues are, in fact, miserably weak unless traited for.
On paper, Warriors are superior to Guardians. In practice, when’s the last time I actually shivered in my bootsies when I saw an enemy Warrior (…or Guardian) on the field?
Just my two copper.
I don’t think it was ever intended to be used with torch 4. It’s more of an issue of no other profession having this trait (yet).
I mean, I’d be pretty furious if someone set ME on fire.
Everyone and their mother seems to have Sunrise or Twilight currently.
I still say Guardians are the best.
Come at me.
1. There is no way to eliminate grinds. No matter how easy you make a game, someone will still call it grindy. It’s an inherent part of the way these games work. Once all of the truly interesting stuff is done, once all of the story elements have been seen, what you’re left is what’s repeatable. No matter how amusing something is, if it’s repeatable content with a reward at the end it will always be considered a grind.
Mostly because people think they’re entitled to anything they want without having to work for it. People are like that, whether they’ll admit it or not.
2. No, and there never will be.
Noted. Still no time frame though, so I’m not getting my hopes up at this very moment.
You only need one vial of essence from 1-10 to create a back item. If you can’t sit through an hour or so of fractals for that, you might not want an ascended back item that badly.
On the other hand, why do I have to do a bunch of open world stuff for my dailies and monthlies in order to get an amulet? I mean, I don’t actually mind. Just making a point.
I see 50 DEs in the first tier of the monthly. What more do you want?
Edit: And where’s my 1-hour-to-completion WvW kills achievement?
There can only be a finite number of “epic” events. New story content takes time to develop, especially on the scale you seem to be looking for.
Swapping from sword/focus to Hammer loses two blinds, a condition removal, a teleport, a projectile absorb, and a 3-tick block.
Yes, it works on you. Save Yourselves and Hold the Line only have a 50% chance (-ish) to actually remove a condition due to a bug though.
You can get away with using a hammer with JI over the third utility slot. I do it sometimes for kicks. I usually replace the GS with it.
@You people complaining about no Knight’s ascended or other combos.
Do you think investing all your gear into 3 stats is wise? It’s not. Try to think outside the box.
With the use of ascended gear you can balance out your build in areas where you could be lacking, or potentially strengthen your build.
For example. Someone using all Knight’s gear may want Knight’s ascended, BUT, using the ascended rings combo power/toughness/critdamage (Cavalier’s) you can substantially boost your critdamage without needing to resort to using berserkers or valkyrie gear. It’s a huge increase in damage (8% crit dmg per ring) and defense (103 toughness per ring), these blow Knight’s out of the water for a majority of builds. Most likely a person with Knight’s will be lacking crit damage, so these rings are incredible.
You guys just need to think outside the box.
I guarantee you there are builds that work optimally with full-on stacking of particular stats. Maybe some people can benefit from thinking “outside the box,” but others can certainly benefit from not thinking so hard.
He’s talking about Shelter, not Sanctuary.
Shelter does not stop condition damage.
Hm…why not?

The build centers around healing power and toughness for survival; smaller hits are covered by more powerful ticks of healing from Rejuv, Regen, and dodge roll heals (from Selfless Daring). Mango Pies help.
Damage comes from power stacking which contributes to direct damage and Retaliation, which has an effortless 100% uptime. Burn blocks (when traited) also contribute to damage on a large scale with the use of Shelter, Aegis, and the focus 5 skill.

Not much. You’d just lose a little damage and condition removal, but you’d gain some additional defense and range.
We do plan on adding more stat combo to existing ascended item types as well as adding more stat combos to new types.
~Izzy @-’—-
Thank you muchos. Sort of wish you’d confirm Cleric’s(-like) combos and at least a vague time frame—in the next couple of weeks? months?—though.
I have seen some of your movies and i noticed that sometimes you clear two or three conditions without using virtue of resolve, and there is no soldier runes in your build, how do you remove the conditions ?
Pure of Voice and the focus 4 skill.
I like to think it’s in part to encourage more people doing their dailies. All it really means to me is that Mystic Coin prices are going to go down, which will make my next Mystic Clover attempts a little less painful.
I agree about the rings balancing it out, but the amulet will be too much healing loss for my taste. So…I won’t be bothering with it.
And that’s my gripe with legendaries as well. Fortunately, you can xmute them and maintain Legendary status. However, I’ll need to see some dev confirmation that transmuted legendaries will be eligible for the Ascended upgrade when the time comes.
Also unsure if I can put up with the “Sunrise of Energy” thing.
Glad you like the build, although it’s already sort of eating nerfs in the form of Cleric’s being omitted entirely from Ascended gear. It’s not a huge deal now, but it will be in the future when more of the set is available if there still aren’t any Cleric’s options.
… This will drive me to likely abandon my current build to go to one that uses the ascended gear, as will others …
I’ll probably just quit if it gets so far as there are almost entire sets available, still with no viable options for my builds. I’m not here to be forced to DPS or walk around with a really high health pool that only helps me to survive as long as I don’t keep getting hit.
Back at the beginning of time, kites didn’t exist and all of this was just dirt and rocks. And vacuum.
You can kill Lupicus solo as a Guardian. You can solo AC path 1 (maybe 3) as a Guardian. You can kill the Imubed Shaman in the Grawl fractal solo. You can do a lot of stuff solo. It’s just a matter of finding a build you’re comfortable with, getting really good at dodging, learning the fights, and then doing it.
It’s less an issue of the half-tier stat increase (which will, in fact, matter once nearly full sets of Ascended gear are acquirable), and more an issue of “why should I HAVE to use Exotics for my build whereas all of those people get to use Ascended items for theirs?”

The entirety of Orr is a mess. This is my first character to make it there. After finally figuring out how.
Every WP is always contested. You finally find a WP that isn’t contested, awesome! Go and get a cup of coffee and come back to a dead body because now it’s under siege and there are no WP anywhere even close to where you just were that aren’t contested.
Is this area intended to be explored? It’s a ghost town, no one ever doing the events, you can never get karma gear.
The whole place is just a mess.
People are always doing events in Cursed Shore. Karma vendors are all open at least once or twice a day. You could also take the first step and actually get people together to open them if they aren’t already when you get online.
You’re making it sound worse than it actually is. There are also a lot of camps and WPs that are “safe” and never contested. AFK at those, not in the event-heavy areas.
I’m partial to Cleric’s.
My build: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dH74AtU3-Q&list=UU4t7oj7kV4YbOE3b6xLwJtQ&index=12
Examples of its use: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dH74AtU3-Q&list=UU4t7oj7kV4YbOE3b6xLwJtQ&index=12
Works in dungeons about as well as you could want it to.
Karma vendors in Orr, or through dungeons.
Rare Cleric’s shouldn’t be too expensive. You can try to get by with Soldier’s from karma if you absolutely can’t afford Cleric’s right now though.
To develop an API?
No, that’s the beauty of an API, you don’t need knowledge about the system that will be using the API. You only need knowledge about the system the API will be unlocking.
I see. That is a bit curious then.
To develop an API?
Nothing until they release Cleric’s ascended gear.
Critting with no power won’t really do that much good. Vigor uptime should be high enough with a 5 second ICD on the trait and the sheer number of attacks we put out (at least one is bound to crit per 5 seconds).
Retaliation also won’t benefit at all from the precision, and that’s actually quite a bit of our damage right there.
I just want to say that, for the rings, I use Lunaria and Solaria. Works very well tbh.
Too weighed down with other useless stats, and the healing power loss is too large for what’s left on the rings to cover for the loss of other important stats. It’s my opinion that, if one were to use Ascended rings with this build, they should definitely stick to PTV until ANet (hopefully) gives us Cleric’s ascended items.
What I’d like to ask is if Apothecary’s is suitable, or if I need to save up for Proper Cleric’s
The condition damage on Apothecary’s is pretty much useless to this build. In addition, both you and your retaliation are going to hit like paper bags without any power. So yes, you should try to get Cleric’s.
(edited by Christos de Soufre.3802)
There is no healing power on any of the Ascended rings except the celestials and this one weird condition damage set, and that’s only on the “gem socket” of the ring, not even the main stats. And support roles are valued in the open world and in WvW just as much as in dungeons. Healing power also doesn’t have to be solely for support roles.
Remove Mystic Clovers from the game.
I’ve settled on the Soldier’s rings for my build, but will not be picking up an amulet. I have absolutely no incentive to do so.
… and could well destroy a lot of peoples’ incentives to keep playing.
Quoted for truth. Killing off entire builds one piece of gear at a time is hardly the definition of either “interesting design” or player retention.
