Top tip against all professions.
Use Life force as a second health bar to tank out and smooth over the lack of blocks and evade on use skills…

So pretty much what necro has had to do since the beginning.

A lot o players and myself included are still flummoxed by the adrenaline decay disaster.
Build adrenaline..enter berserk..use primal burst, rebuild adrenaline quickly..wait for the primal burst recharge..the whole stated idea for primal burst was that it doesn’t hit as hard, but can be used more often. The recharges on primal bursts and the behaviour of adrenaline storage and decay just don’t work smoothly with each other currently.

Just for clarification, when warrior was featured and the changes to rifle were being show cased the demo warrior adrenline bar didn’t deplete over time. Right at the end of the showcase the cryptic line …“Oh, yeah..we’ve restored adrenaline..” was dropped in.

This is a fairy big thing to warrior players. I would actually hazard to say it is more important to many us than what rifle shots will now pierce.

How exactly has adrenaline been restored? We going back to hambow days of where burst misses didn’t lose adrenaline?..or just back to before decay patch?

Considering that these changes are going to be used in your up coming tournament finals, some of the info was just a little too vague.

I watched it over and over. Sorry at 49:38 the moment he leaves combat the adrin decays. sorry to give you tha bad news. The adrin bar doesn’t deplete while in combat. never has. I don’t know what he meant other than to just reiterate that crack shot restores adrenaline.

I noticed that. The overall performance of the adrenaline bar behaviour was different.
I can appreciate he is some form of testing mode, and this alone would affect a number of things purely for the test purposes, it’s just the cryptic “We’ve restored adrenaline.” I hoping for clarification. With the expected patch dropping in just over a week, now is the last chance for warrior players to have a say regarding mechanics like adrenaline.

Try again….

The pool of idea’s for warrior dried up 3 years. The answer is pretty obvious, but it is still not being implemented. Time to hire new consultant creative leads. The idea’s just aren’t getting out of the box, and the box is only getting smaller and smaller.

At least members from the other team have also commented this match probably shouldn’t have happened.

However in boxing there is 2 obligations on the boxers.
1) the challenger should take their opportunities to face champs.
2) Champs should face all contenders regardless.

At least you both saw through those obligations and played the match through to the end.

waste of 1 hour of my life (sorry 48 minutes as it seems they ran out of things)

that has to be the worst prepared guild chat presentation I have ever seen

1: Seemed like they were not fully prepared

2: They were to mention about base shroud changes etc and didn’t,

3: more concise factual notes without “Ummms” “ehhhh” “hmmmm”

4: " they spent more time fixing the poor guys headset than anything"

wish they gave us the notes tonight

Have to agree.
The host didn’t direct the show and keep it on track very well.
A lot spoken word pauses.
A lot of personal commentary.
Didn’t try to address the overhaul community concerns. (Talking about ranger search and rescue skill when 100% of the community wanted to know what is going to happen with druid immortal build.)
Glossed over quite important info (blah, blah, blah,blah..oh yeah, we’ve restored adrenaline..moving on.)

They seem like decent people, but they also seem like they purposefully called in ‘sick’ the day they were assigning presenters and still somehow got given the task.

I like the idea’s, but they haven’t been pushed far enough in my opinion.
After playing high level fractals and raids, but having less in game in Pvp the same dynamic keeps featuring as ‘optimal.’

1) groups quickness
2) fast break bar
3)Group boon share
4)perma max vulnerability
5)combo fields.

This leads to the optimal group being;
1)mesmer-alacrity
2)revenant-boon share/breakbar/blindness
3)Great sword reaper-vulnerability/blindness
4)ele-combo fields/boon share
5)Guardian -quickess/breakbar/vulnerability/blindness/block

swap out reaper for scrapper if you want to skip a lot of trash mobs, but keep break bar and boon share/combo fields

add druid for raids.

With this group you’ll stay on perma on 25 might/fury/25 vulnerability/protection and light speed break bar. There is still no need to take a warrior for any reason.

They’re great idea’s, but they only affect warrior in the Pvp scene, but still leaves them redundant in PvE.

Isn’t Berserker being used for the LB primal burst with Viper Stats? Also, isn’t Phalanx Strength still seeing plenty of use? I’ve only been solo PvEing as of late.

Despite what other warriors are saying the reality is primal longbow burst with vipers is not meta. It is a gimmick of simply overlapping hit boxes on a boss that isn’t mobile and has multi hit boxes due to their size. Anything that moves and it is a fail build. Anything that doesn’t move and is massive it’s a boring build that revolving around the one concept only only of spam burst when off recharge. Hence why i said high fractals, PvX play. It is nothing spectacular apart from one raid boss. The changes to the above mentioned professions means each one is capable of stacking their own personal might to 25, or to the high teens. The revenant presence along side assassin presence and facets and the ele ensures everyone is under 25 might and 100% fury up time. There is no real reason to bring warrior. In order to break bar they do reduced damage, in order to do massive damage they offer none of the desired qualities. They just can’t produce enough fields to prime or detonate to create auras and AoE.
I like the ideas of adrenaline stances that flow in and out of each other and the idea of mobile banners, it is a good start for warrior in regards to PvP, but creatively warrior’s pool of anet sanction idea’s has become stale. When one looks at their newest offering of a melee profession with revenant they are quite one dimensional and nobody yet has really found a way of making ventari legend work in the support capacity. They merely warrior 2.0 and thief on steroids mashed together with nothing really new in terms of how one plays and what one can do with them. if anything the revenant energy pooling fueling legendary stances skills would have been a better idea for warrior adrenaline.

Does anyone else feel like people will still use Fast Hands even if we get a major CD reduction to our weapon skills?

I probably will. The thing is, weapon skill CD reduction is one issue that is not related to Fast Hands, at the very least not entirely related.
Sure Fast Hands synergised really well with short weapon skills CDs, but the other major aspect of this trait is regarding on-swap sigils.

From this perspective, reducing weapon skills CDs adresses only one aspect of why is Fast Hands such a necessity.

You’re right, cds are only one part. But they also mentioned something about changing skill functionality. If they make it so more things are located on single weapons (e.g. setup and burst, damage and defense, etc), then it reduces the need for FH even more.

True, there’s still the advantage to on-swap sigils, and FH would undoubtedly remain a very good trait in its own right. But by addressing these other issues they increase the likelihood of a viable, or even optimal, build that doesn’t use Disc. Str-Arms-Bers, maybe, or Arms-Def-Bers etc.

Gain might and burst skills recharge 15% faster on weapon swap.-Versatile Power
Clear condition on weapon swap.-Brawlers recovery
Gain adrenaline on weapon swap.-Versatile rage
Sigil of battle-Gain might on weapon swap.
Sigil of intelligence. -next 3 attacks are all critical after weapon swap.

Simple answer is yes. Fast hands will still be used in 95% of builds.
As long as fast hands, warrior sprint, versatile rage, versatile power, brawlers recovery remain in that line it will be taken. Without these traits all it would take is one weaken and you’re pretty much screwed for the next 10 seconds. One cripple and your reduced to swinging at a pure kiting target for the next 10 seconds. This is what made brawlers recovery a must. You could shake off a nuisance condition right before a snare or burst and be rewarded with extra adrenaline, might and recharged burst for playing smart.

Why does continuum split reset elite cds?

It’s funny but it is the concept of a chronomancer. It isn’t fair but if you put a single condition the concept will break.

Not trying to be too salty here but just an example: thieves are supposed to be master of shadows, stealth etc. Yet scrappers are better at it atm. Then thieves are also supposed to be deadly in 1v1 combat but they can’t 1v1 to save their live – Anet throws their own concepts out of the window whenever it pleases them.

I don’t think you could be blamed for being salty. Long term experienced players have all been defeated by less experienced players because the veteran choose to run something different, or choose a profession that is inherently weak at the moment and the greenhorn choose to run a well known, child proof build that smoothes over all their mistakes. Currently skill has been removed far too much from the game and too much emphasis has been put on build.

Balance Goals for the Winter 2016 Update

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

What about fun?
The updates are always just tooltip and number crunches. Once in a while we get a complete skill change on a skill we didn’t want changed whilst ones we wanted changed remains untouched.
At this stage of the game, I don’t think it needs to be mentioned that no one is having fun…in a game. They are annoyed by leagues, hotjoin is a side swap mess, ranked has wild MMR and ranked matches premade versus PuG.
Where is the fun? Each day you make this unneeded profession representation, so each day you only see a majority of those 4 professions. If thief or warrior is part of it for the day, you only see 3 of the 4 represented because no one wants to touch either of the those professions competitively.
No mention of quality of life, changes to enhance the fun factor. Just changes based on the politics of the squeaky wheel gets the oil.
The original mission statement for the Pvp division was “No whack-a-mole.” Look carefully at your previous balances..first you give, then you take away, then you give, then you take away.
Give up on the idea of imperfect balance. There is not enough resource in game to achieve it. Aim for perfect balance. At least this way it is accepted that in perfect balanced games it can take years, if not decades to become familiar with all known tactics and counters.
The continuation or giving shouts, then nerfing shouts; giving traps then nerfing traps, giving immunity, then nerfing immunity..it is whack-a-mole at its finest. You create problem then fix it by creating another problem. You want the game to be an animation game, then want to fix the over communication of visual skills by introducing new skills that have more animations.

You have a lot riding on this balance patch. If top management wont let you do what you need to do this patch..time to hit the job section, because it will be the no subscription only that will keep the game PvP thread bare alive.

Head butt rework.
1)Unblockable
2)400 range.
3)movement skill so mobile strikes affects it.
4)leap finisher. Works with warrior fire fields and then maybe grand master double aura may get used, and it can be proc’ed in others fields.

Apart from that I can’t see warrior getting boon removal, so the above boon hate idea’s would be a better path to travel.

[Raids] Burnzerkers Meta, ~40% higher damage

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: CntrlAltDefeat.1465

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

Balancing damage around one game aspect is not wise.
Ultimately in any boss encounter, once the boss is defeated the entire group gets the reward. So what does it truly matter if one specific build using very specific runes etc does more overall damage on very specific bosses with multiple hit boxes?

Ultimately warrior is still in a terrible universal position. The era of meta teams is now over and meta abilities has taken it’s place. All teams in raids or fractals are ultimately looking for;
1) Alacrity/team quickness
2) fast break bar/CC
3) Boon share
4)High vulnerability up time
5)Combo fields

Warrior performs poorly to mediocre in all these areas. In order to perform at the most entry level they sacrifice a lot of of the one thing they do well, which is damage.

Just because one profession can do more damage than you doesn’t actually take anything away from you. In pretty much every other game mode currently warrior would pretty much kill to have 25% of what other professions bring to the able. There is also the issue that a game should be fun. Playing warrior currently is not fun. Burn skill, more burn skill, add some more burn skill, berserk on cool down, burn..burn some more..throw in more burn uptime..burn..burn again..it’s mind numbing boring to play.

The whole conversation basically looks like someone with a fun and rewarding job complaining that someone else gets paid more than them, even though their job terrible.

Agreed with Artaz.
The PvE equiv is;
alacrity/group quickness

As long as this remains and applies to all bosses any profession that can provide these will be the ‘in group’…again, poor warriors. It is just too locked in at the moment for anything to change.

Yes, but Warrior needs more sustain, atm. Try the Indistructible Berseker of Cygnus n pvp

You will see a HUGE different between this uild and the Vanilla GS/Hammer build

Of course I’ve used other Runes and weapons instead of mace (sword, axe…) but you are no more one-shotted. I had a lot of fun with that build. If we only had a little more sustain, we can brake bones again!

“You’ll be hitting between 2-5k bursts,..chilling your foe and leeching health from them….”

So in other words, play your warrior a little less like warrior and a lil’ more like necro. I chatted with the author of this build when it hit the warrior forum. The build exists around 2 key principles; 1) it has a dedicated warrior player at the helm who through no help from their profession positioned themselves well and was aware of bursts before they happened. A seasoned player on any profession is always a strong advantage. 2) slap durability runes on any build and its sustain is going to dramatically raise. In the end I don’t anet hates warrior,..they have simply ran out of good idea’s for them about 6 years ago.

Best and worst builds of all gw2!

worst:
any meta engineer spec from release to now.

having to watch one or play against one is nothing but boring and always has been. passive defenses for years, obscene amount of low-counterplay CC (slickshoes is still one of the cheapest skills in the game), the worst steal skill in the game, etc.

I’ve never had any respect for engineer players because of how easy it is, especially now with scrapper in the mix; it has a laughable risk factor since the profession practically plays itself in most instances. whether if it was the turret build which literally played itself (and something everyone was happy to see go) or now scrapper which a wood log on a keyboard could play competently, engineer has always represented “the easy way” to success.

The best: power thief, warrior, mesmer, ranger (pre-spec update), necro, ele

pretty much anything power damage oriented with higher risks has always been fun to play and watch. that being said, DPS guardian does not fall into this category because it’s not high risk in the slightest and never has been. Burn guard was 100x more fun to play against than power guard/DH because it was high risk. Druid can’t make this list either because it’s power variant is still sleazy as can be with drastic oversustain and overrewarding AI.

You have a child like understanding of engineer, but a perfect understanding of celestial amulet and durability runes.

Technically he’s not wrong. I’ll explain why!

First iteration of Engineer was SOLEY based around 1 single trait, wanna know what that was? Incendiary Powder! A completely unavoidable trait that did massive damage to you without any thought-process what-so-ever.

Next iteration was Celestial Rifle which also utilized said unavoidable trait with a weapon(rifle) that utilized another unavoidable bit of CC(unless you had a lucky dodge, block or whatever). Not to mention the instant nature of slick shoes and spamming grenades at your feet!

And finally, we’ve come to Scrapper! A line that has some of the strongest defensive passives I’ve ever seen. Protection on heal, permanent 300 toughness with -20% condi-dmg and insane regen based upon your speed. This all coupled with some more insane passive defenses from Protection Injection and Self-regulating defenses!

So no, the man is absolutely correct in his evaluation of Engineer. I even went as to kindly list why based on Facts. You’re welcome.

Edit: I didn’t even list all of the BS, just some off-the-top of my head. Lets not forget the insane boon uptime and variety!

Nice anecdotal evidence.
Nice line up of offending traits that are all out measured and don’t hold a candle to similar traits in their era.

Incendiary was a poor mans dhuumfire.
Turrets were an even poorer man spirits or minions.
Boon up time and protection does even begin to toy with ele.
Insane regen..you mean like passive, non interruptable revenant? or more like guardian regen+elite?..or do you mean more like warrior regen? Or are we talking ele regen for 40+ seconds? Or necro shroud regen?Which regen are we talking about that engineers is far more insane?
All the efficiency you speak of all come from combo fields and elixirs. In other words move away from that set play style and you’re gonna fail.

Hell, there is a hybrid warrior video in their forums which illustrates even the most far field build can be made a sustain machine once you place celestial and durability runes on it. In earlier emanations of the game it was lyssa runes, before that it was something else blah blah blah.

The point is engineers are far from unbeatable. In their hey day of decap the ever present hambow made short work of them. A vanilla necro made short work of them.
In the turret area another brainless spec MM rendered them chaotic and uncontrollable. Hell, even one wall of reflection cause all the turrets to destroy themselves.

A good player with sound hotkey set up will excel with engineer, but they would also excel with any other profession. An average player will only do well with one specific set up and rune selection that totally smooths over their inexperienced play style. However, this has been shown on pretty much every profession forum to be the case. Slap on celestial amulet,..if your feeling edging then maybe take marauder for the toughness, but definitely don’t leave home without durability runes and you’ll be O.K.

It is not specific to engineer at all. That’s why I still get my stomps on them, I see other people get their stomps and see them face down in WvW..because they are far from invincible. Play one for 4-6 days and you’ll know exactly what ruins their day. The same as playing a capable monk in gw1 taught you how to effectively shut one down if you faced one. In no version of the game has a player who understands engineer had problems with eliminating one. Your photo only shows arguably the most brainless build (Dragonhunter with traps) calling someone else a brainless player.

However if you feel they are easy win, then your opinion is noted. I’d advise you play one more full time and then face them again and see just how predictable they are. Play against one especially as a corruption reaper they become almost laughable at how easily they can be spanked and sent on their way.

It lays in the lightning field. You either combo in it well and you’re successful, or botch the combo field up and do very little.

Snap targeting may seem like a good idea, but manual ground targeting is best. Put the field where they are about to be next, not on top of them.

Chill also doesn’t affect thief skills. It never has. It is just not apparent because thief doesn’t really exist at the moment. I don’t see the nature of you’re complaint? You’re on a node..you’re holding it..they’re are leaping away. The purpose of Pvp is not to crush inexperienced players, but hold capture points. You have successfully done that. If crushing inexperienced players with over tuned chilled based skills is your thing, then PvE is more for you.

“The reaper’s thematic roots come from classic movie monsters and survival horror games. We pulled elements from slow but seemingly unstoppable horror monsters like Pyramid Head and Jason Voorhees to try to craft the feeling of a relentless pursuer who becomes extremely deadly once they close the distance to their prey. The greatsword is the ideal weapon for expressing this sense of dread due to its size and weight, but there was one thing that was missing—what’s a reaper without a scythe?
The reaper’s first minor trait is called Shroud Knight, and it gives the necromancer a completely new set of melee-focused skills while in Death Shroud. Additionally, when activating the new Reaper’s Shroud, they also equip a giant shadowy scythe and gain some additional particle effects to signify to opponents to watch out. The skills available while in Reaper’s Shroud share some similarities with their Death Shroud counterparts and—where applicable—inherit traits that are normally applied to them. Because Reaper’s Shroud is focused on melee combat, it centers much more on skills that allow reapers to get close, stay close, and cleave enemies. "

It was never said they are masters of holding enemies in melee, in fact it said the exact opposite..their new skills allow to get, stay close and cleave enemies.

Depends on how you define classic play style.
In the Fantasy/M.M.O genre fighters/warriors have always been the DPS mules. In the current game build I feel confident no one feels warrior is that.

Then there is the slightly more abstract versions of warriors such as wolverine or Captain America. These characters couldn’t affect the weather or shoot lasers from their eyes and didn’t have amazing suits or turn green and muscle bound. However they’re both warrior/soldier archetypes at their core. Shield bash that targets PBAoE up to 3 targets, hyper movement abilities, critically over striking coupe De gras are all classic warrioresque themes. The concurrent pop culture idea has revolved around:
1) Hyper fast and reactionary
2) Engaging multiple foes is no problem
3) Strong sustain
4) dispatches lesser foes quickly
5) Finishes stronger foes with targeted strong finishers

What we currently have with warrior is:
Falls victim to multiple foes insanely fast
Has little sustain
Hyper slow
Long clunky animations where all the damage is back loaded
Self roots

The pop culture ideals for the warrior/soldier have all existed from early 1940-Mid 1970’s. The role play/Fantasy gaming (dungeon and dragons) idea became popularised in the mid 1970’s.

So even the ‘classic’ warrior is still thematically more sound than the current ‘modern’ interpretation of the warrior we have currently.

With Anets latest offering of a new melee profession, the revenant it is a shallow mix of thief/warrior that is better than both warrior or thief and offers a one dimensional mix of both professions. The current idea’s pool for melee professions is currently a bit empty.

However, if you play multi professions you can see in each profession there is traits that are awesome for them, but would have been better suited to warrior. It would have helped warrior and all melee professions get out the rut they’re in. So there is good idea’s in the development group, but no thinking outside the box and how to apply them to warrior. It is almost like they went into this ignoring the bugged skills, bad traits and stale play style they have developed and made the assumption they are super strong and only need minor tweaks.

Engineer has the only reliable pull in game. The rest of us how have used pull’s for some time have just come to accept they don’t work with 100% assured.

generally any movement or pull skill benefits greatly from;
1) Don’t use it at max range.
2) If the target side sides, regardless if it is unblockable, move on..it wont work.
3) The animation of the pull and the actual pull are not the same thing. The animation will make you believe it can pull from further away than it actually can.
4) Only engineers pull operates via flight of the crow, all other pulls will account for every bump and gnarl in the terrain.
5) Dont use them on inclines.
6) Don’t use them on declines.

You’ll notice the same with teleports. Some can be used through walls and up great heights, others can’t. Some will teleport over traps, others won’t. End story,..they’re unreliable.

This is why warrior has become difficult to be competitive with. Players suggestion just take them back to the same skills, same stances that warrior has always used.
It doesn’t address the total lack of team dynamic. The selfish and boring nature of signets. The pathetic shouts. The misaligned traits in obscure tree’s..and worst gw2 warrior remains as un-dynamic and boring to play as gw1 warrior. The handful of problematic bugs don’t get addressed, the slow and clunky weapons don’t get addressed, the excessive cool downs on weapons that fail to work or are highly telegraphed don’t addressed.

One of the major problems with HoT was an attempt to give everyone everything. Guardians lack ranged damage and aoe melee presence..so they were given that. Necro lack abilities to deal with crowd control skills and having a melee presence..they were given it. Engineer had no melee weapon or purposeful bruiser traits, they were given it…

Warrior lacked a usable condition build, so they aimed for the lowest hanging fruit and gave the most basic of condition builds.

An opportunity to bring warrior into 2016 was completely missed. What should have been warrior idea’s were all piled into rev/guard/engi and warrior as a result has not changed in play style or thematically in over 10 years of the guild wars franchise.

At this stage of the game, there is no reason to roll a warrior whatsoever anymore. They are outclassed on every front. Buffs won’t change this because the basic thinking behind them is unimaginative, non progressive and stale. They need a total rework on all fronts.

There ya go. The same answer everybody said about hambow..just interrupt and poison them.
You know..that fast cast interrupt you sit on all game, but never use..use that.
Then apply that high level condition poison you have on your power build. Problem solved.

You do have a fast cast interrupt and poison don’t you?

Can I suggest you put this thread forward as ‘constructive’ to the forum manager…

The cooldowns on almost all the new weapon skills/utilities, particularly the defensive ones, are too short across the elite specs. They need to be raised.

Much like the (year late) shave of HS, I’m afraid the solution to this is fairly obvious here.

It’s likely nobody will comment on this thread. They’d all rather argue with a pve dude about legendary skins. But you, you hawk-eyed forum volunteer. Please flag this post as constructive feedback.

At least I can say I tried.

The Elite Specializations are OP. This was revealed in sPvP weeks before ranked play began. A decision was made to allow ranked season and include Elite Specs even with the known issues. The agenda or motivation behind this decision is unclear, but most assume it was made to drive HoT sales even if it meant sacrificing the integrity of the PvP side of the game to fullfill that goal.

One of many signs we’ve been given that if you take the game too seriously (even in PvP, apparently) you’re doing it wrong according to ArenaNet.

I understand business decisions sometimes don’t align well with the community, but have to wonder if they considered the damage to the brand that would come from these mistakes.

No offense, but didn’t you recently write a goodbye letter? Yet here you are.
This is why they don’t need to concern themselves about ‘brand’ and ‘damage’ in PvP. Players either accept, or they threaten to quit, ..but never do and keep on playing.
When the week comes that not one person logs into any Pvp..that’s when you’ll see changes come more quickly.

It is not so much the easy ones..people just don’t run the annoying ones.
Once you get to snowblind 74 or 86 you begin to see why people don’t run them.
They are long, a lot of things can 0-90% hit you in rapid succession. The elemental is annoying. The bonfires extinguish super quick. The whole thing resets if you wipe. It is like thermonova..it long, a lot of things one shot you and the final boss has one of the largest HP pools in game. In the time takes to run it, you could have run 3 swamps in more straight forward manner.

That would be annoying. Even more so if the thief in question was on center in Khylo and took your buff to the bottom of the stairs. So even though they stole it, but only moved down from you, it still can’t affect you. Nah,…I am just kidding..what nerd would use banners in PvP anyway? They’re banners..they don’t deserve to be used in Pvp, along with fear me, on my mark and 50% of warrior traits. However I guess a sneaky warrior can avoid CC chain and bring the banner directly where it is needed while still using weapon skills for movement/attacks etc. Also avoids those annoying moments when you play solo PvE and your banner gets stolen killing trash mobs. If only you had could focus trash mobs and hold your banner at the same time with picking it up, putting it down, picking it, putting it down..then it gets stolen by skrit..

You can think whatever you want about tempest ..it won’t change the reality.

I don’t consider myself the best player…I consider myself a smart player, one that can work around the meta, but as usually you make a lot of assumptions, like assuming that those who constantly complain on the forum know exactly what they’re talking about

What need changing is their build and attitude, when you get a handful of necros who state how easily they beat DS eles, it becomes clear to what the rest of the necros belongs to

DS is a trait that works against mindless gameplay, trigger happy necros firing their condi rotation without a second thought…sad
The condi spam is a gameplay problem in GW2, recognised by devs( Jon Peters before he left), top players( Helseth, ex-Zombify ..a necro mind you)

Has it ever occured to you that there are bad eles? Who never dodge? Think about it.

DS is mindless.

Go play a necro and then we will see. Against actually good opponents.

DS may be mindless as concept but…did the necro actually tried to run a different build? one that’s not 100% condi based? what about a build 60% power and 40% condi?

Has it ever occured to you that even ele ha builds that get completely neutralized by others?
And still..eles have adapted..why can’t necros do the same?

A nerf should be warranted where everything has been tried and nothing work, but this is not the case with necro, it’s only a problem with stubborn players determined in running a build that get hardcountered; this may sound arrogant..but surely those players who think a single build should work everywhere are not less arrogant

Necro has not played condi since dhuumfail meta. With the addition of HoT necro returned to condi with the changes to chill.
So to answer your question in full,..necro very tried alt builds. Pure melee sucks for them because they have no blocks or evades or in vulnerabilities. They have little protection and little vigor generation and all of their melee attack bonus doesn’t kick in until their target is under 50% health and they have full life force. To make the matter worse they also have terrible engage and movement, so they rely heavily on cripple, boon corruption and snares..all of which won’t work with DS in effect.
I am glad we have cleared this matter up. Yes condi reliant professions tried something different to counter ele, and yes..they failed hard.

So why is it when ele is running water/earth/attunement and using bunkering runes and amulets it can still win fights?

Because apparently you guys never played ele so you have no clue how to fight one. When I play on my Reaper I just destroy eles, it’s so easy to lock them out of skill usage. Diamond Skin or not…

They can nerf Diamond Skin for all we care it’s not really good. You’ll just be back here complaining about Stone Heart.

Play better ele’s. Stomping inexperienced players in hotjoin is not exactly an achievement. Despite your meek manner the reality showcases your view point is not accepted on any level.
1) there is a reason ele and diamond has been consistently used in every tournament for the last year.
2) You can’t refute the original statement that if ele is trapped in such weak trait lines, why are they still winning?
3) Their outstanding protection, regeneration, boon stacking more than makes up for any HP disparity.
4) Aura healing 1-1.3k which can be strung together at steady pace more than covers any time you knock off 1.8k on them.
5) They can push toughness to levels that trivialize burst to the point that team targeting is needed.
6) They have well above average movement.
7) Boon stripping is little more than inconvenient for them.
8) They currently are still in top 3% most effective bunkers.
9) 20 weapons skills at their disposal which include secondary effects of reflect, snares.
10) They possess a single medium length cool down heal that can remove 5 conditions, let alone water line.
11) Mentioning reaper is anecdotal. Play a necro with scepter/dagger and all boon corruption you can carry. See if your opinion doesn’t change. This entirely showcases how one sided diamond skin is. If you find yourself having to pick the strongest condition profession, then elite specc’ing it. Then running a very specific build with weapons just so you can get a small advantage over one single trait, the shows the trait is overall unhealthy.
12) Even veteran ele players in their own forums are admitting diamond skin is too much.
13) It is a crutch trait, just like last stand for warrior. It limits diversity for the future, because it is just too good not use.
14) If the meta changed to burst/spike tomorrow..ele would be out of meta as well. this is a number of situations that could push any profession out of the meta. That doesn’t justify nothing be done. It instead promotes we do nothing and nothing ever changes.

how many more reasons are needed for traits of this nature to be adjusted?

Lightning strike. Requires no target. Line of sight.
Infiltrators arrow. Requires no target. Can not pass through walls. Can teleport up altitudes.
Phase retreat. Requires no target. Can teleport through walls and up altitudes.
Blink. No target required. Can’t pass through all walls. Can teleport up altitudes.
Drak path. Requires target and line of sight. Can’t pass through walls. can’t teleport up altitudes.

Is there is a reason as to the hows and the whats of this?

Revenant can get to me on Khylo top of tower, but no else can from ground level.
Mesmer can phase retreat through walls on quarry, but no else can.
Guardian can get to me up stairs, but necro can’t.
Revenant can get me on mid from canon room on skyhammer, no one else can.

This is not a moan..just wondering if consistency of teleports in PvX will ever be addressed. Of is the thinking some professions teleports are meant to be superior to others?

Warrior remains warrior.
I am strongly in favour of over hauling warrior completely. They haven’t evolved since gw1 where every other profession has.
Ranger became druid
Paragon became guardian
Mesmer evolved to clones and phantasms.
Assassin became thief with stealth and steals.
Ele obtained all 4 elements at once.
Ritualist became engineer.
necro obtained shroud.
etc etc

warrior remained basically 100% unchanged.

Time to really re-imagine the whole profession.

Make them back mounted.
The banner becomes mobile with the warrior.
Upon double clicking the first 5 skills change to team buff skills.

Power/condition=power+might buffs+converts one skill where players power score becomes condition score
Precision=precision/ferocity buffs. One skill an also convert players condition score into ferocity score.+ next attack (x) attacks unblockable or next attacks 100% crit etc
Support=support buffs/shout cool downs etc etc

Double clicking again returns banner to back and weapon skills become available again.

very useful for team fights against bunkers.

very useful for higher level fractals where converting power scores to condi scores means power players aren’t over writing condi stacks with weaker stacks and helps teams against (E.G) champion ettin who has huge toughness and condi works better.
Also helps teams where target has condi immunity E.G Mai trin until buffs removed.

Also helpful for vale guardians where warriors can selectively use banners to augment team damage to suit raid boss immunities.

I think this would bring a lot more build diversity and team dynamic.

Diamond skin is fine, there needs to be someone to keep condition reapers in check. Just tested it recently, and chilblains by itself does 6k on a condi build while the opponent has rune of melandru, if the condi arent cleansed.

As far as I see it, diamond skin is only an issue in low mmr where condition reapers try to kill anti condition bunkers by themselves, or teams cant press ctrl+j to focus on a target. Ele can heal alot, but cc is very effective at shutting them down, as most arent running any kind of stability, few on demand stunbreaks, and only a single invulnerability.

It really cant be said enough:
Diamond skin is a grandmaster trait that does absolutely nothing unless the lowest health profession is above 90% hp

Poor ele with only a few on demand stunbreakers and one invulnerability. Guardian shown for years now low HP is no justification of giving over tuned traits. Who cares you have the lowest HP when you also have some of the highest toughness, plentiful heals and near 90% up time on protection. Warrior is living proof that even with multiple stun break, High HP, high toughness, lots of stun breaks, but no true invulnerability or protection or mutliple healing sources it doesn’t mean jack. They get dropped like flies. Just because it grandmaster also doesn’t justify it. You get to elect 3 grandmaster traits as opposed to 2..so the trade off opportunity cost is lesser today than it has historically been.

They need to nerf condi and passive play, not Diamond Skin.

Hit the ele once or twice and its gone. Diamond skin only negates the engage condi.

If the ele didn’t fart out healing, this would be true.

That said, with only two condi builds seeing play, I’m not sure condi really needs a nerf. People just aren’t running cleanse.

Diamond Skin doesn’t need a nerf, it needs a rework.

Diamond Skin was given to the ele because the class has the lowest base armor and health survivability. Seriously, Diamond skin isn’t that good, it’s only good now because people are running cheesy condi spam.
An ele using earth already gives up on his biggest damage modifiers. It just doesn’t need a nerf… and when an ele is running healing it aint running damage either.

Any class can bunk up and hold point, now because bunkering up it’s the only thing left the ele can do people are blaming bunker ele. If you nerf that you destroy the class.

So why is it when ele is running water/earth/attunement and using bunkering runes and amulets it can still win fights?
Also to clarify, warrior can’t bunker. Neither can thief. Guardian is becoming sketchy at it. Revenant can’t really bunker, only sustain. Yet ele can bunker, so can mesmer, druid is good at it and scrapper can as well…so whatever you were saying about low Hp, low armour etc has been negated that the lowest and the weakest are currently the best at doing it.

[Video] Berserker WvW Roaming Build

in Warrior

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

To chime in on the build…
It seems more like an average build that has been made viable by an experience player that has propped it up with good runes and food buffs. The ultimate test of any build is if you take it to Spvp without the defender and/or perplex runes etc runes or food buffs, does it still perform better than average?

To me personally it is just heartening to see warrior still being played. I believe 90% of what makes it strong is the runes and food and the fact is played by a veteran.

It does high light many of the issues warrior has. In the first encounter against chronomancer, the warrior was kited and stealthed for nearly the first 2 minutes and stunned multiple times where berserker mode was of no use because adrenaline built too slowly. The chronomancer eventually lost because they became complacent and got caught with everything on cool down. The warrior didn’t have any answer to remaining on target apart from experience by the player.

The revenant encounter is pretty straight forward..they used block at 75+ health,..so it is fair to say they weren’t an experienced player. However warrior does struggle with block persistent builds.

The duel thieve’s,..although a win for the warrior, the ability for the thieve’s to kite for days and the lack of reliably in tings like rush meant it came down to warrior experience again. Understanding what the thieve’s were gonna do and avoiding it and pressuring them in stealth to reveal themselves.

All in all a solid player that wasn’t given many advantages through their profession or traits..it was the runes and food what gave the player what they need to survive long enough to work their way rough all the current warrior short comings.

Good video. Nice contribution..but to me it shows food buffs and runes are currently more viable than warrior itself.

25% dmg reduction to all damage(including condi), 3k toughness and vitality buff for 8 sec even on 60 cd is too long/good considering wars can have it at least twice before going down. So no, ty.

Tbh i think wars and thieves are fine (besides few flaws here and there). Other classes and elites in general need massive toning down.
We don’t need more powercreep if anything patches should contain nothing more but nerfs and bug fixes for next few months to bring this game to any resemblance of playable/enjoyable meta.

To reduce every other profession at this stage would prove more difficult. Now that fractals extends to lvl 100 and raids anet has already had to lower enemy toughness in that PvE content for the simple reason it had got to the point that a pure berserker warrior would barely scratch above 5k on the 3 second channeled 100b. When I take this exact build to to Arah the same build pounds out DPS. i only play thief very-very casually, so I leave it to their community to comment, but warrior is in a unhappy place. The profession hasn’t evolved, it still has the same glitches and bugs from launch, it is struggling to remainn viable in all modes of the game. teams no longer look for DPS unless it is a large, stationary multi hit box boss. The current meta is Alacrity-quickness-breakbar-boon share..the old school DPS mule just isn’t needed anymore. This effectively means warrior is under performing in PvE, under performing in PvP.
I appreciate you feel they currently fine and it is everyone else that needs adjusting, but power reduction would benefit PvP, but would also make a lot of higher PvE content really time consuming and annoying. It is better for warrior in PvP and PvE to look to where there traits, skills and damage could go rathr then reduce everyone else.

The thing that really grinds me is people who say, “Damage is not the problem with warrior.”

Damage is just one of many problems with warrior. When I run a marauder rune and rage runes and can only crit hit a scrapper for 2.5k or a necro for 3.1k damage is a problem.

When I am full 100b mossman at 25 might with fury, full ascended berserker and only 6.1k damage at lvl 85+ damage is a problem.

Mean while back in dragonhunterville, one true shot nets 8.7k.
One CoR on Rev hits for 6.5k at range, I am lucky if evis hits for that much anymore in pvp.

The entire state of warrior has gotten beyond bad. No sustain, weak burst, no team dynamic, very limited boon sharing and a play style that hasn’t changed in 10 years.

This is being approached wrong.
Stances should be affected by adrenaline. This allows for bruiser builds who stockpile adrenaline slower, but don’t use it. The stockpiled adrenaline feeds stances, adrenal healing and other aspects of their sustain.

The reverse also needs to be made. High burst damage builds that seek to build adrenaline rapidly and use it as quickly as possible to create moments of hyper aggression.

Currently their is no real reason not use adrenaline, and with no viable builds truly being on the table at the moment for PvP this would at least allow for some theory crafting to be done.

Nerf OP classes, or buff weak classes?

in PvP

Posted by: CntrlAltDefeat.1465

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

Re-invent the weak.
The current strong you speak about are slowly ticking down until even they just cant have fun anymore running a bunker or indefinite sustain. Eventually the search for something new comes about.
However the weak (Thief+warrior) are the 2 professions that were originally designed to be melee focused. To simply buff them isn’t enough anymore. Even large buffs wouldn’t be enough because they are still 2 professions filled with bugs. The creative well for melee play is dead empty it seems. Even the intro of revenant is a quasi mix of warrior+thief loosely tied together in a one dimensional form and given the thematic of the previous profession ritualist.

necro evolved to have shroud
ritualist evolved into engineer
Paragon evolved in guardian
Mesmer evolved into clones
Ele evolved into using all the elements.
Monk disappeared
Dervish disappeared
Assassin got a simple steal and stealth that is now ever present by multiple professions
Ranger evolved into druid
Warrior remained un-evolved

The melee focused profession need to be over hauled, re-imagined and need a new lease on life. Buffs ain’t enough to fix their woes.

Players Abusing MMR

in PvP

Posted by: CntrlAltDefeat.1465

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

It is kinda the result of when you don’t do house keeping regularly. The grime kinda builds up to the point it is harder to get rid of.
It something that players as far as 2 years go were concerned about when they saw daily rooms. People argued it is only hotjoin matches, and who cares about that?
It then spread to casual matches with side swapping, observe flipping etc.
To bring it full circle the behaviour has now spread to higher tier matches because the benchmark of disciplining manipulative behaviour has never been addressed.
The sad thing is, no matter what level you play at, it is not overly hard to progress or improve in PvP, but when the door is left wide open to behaviours that erode the integrity and fun of matches for others the knock-on effect of players leaving, and just bad behaviour remaining eventually becomes more and more an issue.
At this point most players don’t trust titles anymore, they can be farmed in daily rooms. They don’t trust the matching making and now they don’t trust their own team members and are mindful of players throwing matches. All this means is that very few players have any trust in Anet PvP.
If the problem of match manipulation had been addressed from the start, it won’t have grown to the scale it is now.

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

The reality is, top tier players don’t like chronomancer, mid tier don’t like chronomancer, casuals don’t like chronomancer. The trend across the board is all universal.
1) Too many escapes. – you mean 1 blink adn 1 phase retreat
2)Too many blocks. – you mean shield block for 8 sec
3) Access to invulnerability. -here you may be right as sword #2 got low cd. but thief also got lots of evades , rev #3 sword and shiro stances , ranger sos and evades
4) Access to stealth. – not being used
5) Access to stuns. – like every other class
6) Access to transforms. – not being used
7) Reliable swiftness. – without soi than not
8) Strong bunkering capabilities. – like guard, druid, tempest engi etc….
.

so basically you seem you dont like it and maybe dont know it much.

the reason ppl sont like it cause you see 2 of them in team fight with 2 rev. delete the rev abilities than you wont see 2 of them and maybe only 1.
the mesmer is great supporter and top tier group use it on bunker only sitting in 1v1 on mid or far which is versus other mesmer . for what?

I know plenty about mesmer. I have played one for over ten years. The one thing anet has consistently done across gw and gw2 with mesmer is nerf and buff it according to their mood. With the sole exception of assassin and thief, mesmer has always been the problem child for arenanet. They have created a profession that thrives by upsetting others play styles. The list I created above is not one I have made up, or pulled out of thin air. These are all things mesmer can, and will do. From their entirely O.T.T AoE animations, to their low hanging fruit interrupts. After years of playing and ascending mesmers the one thing that remains true is that they are entirely blue chip. One month they are given..3 months later it is all taken away. Mesmer particularly in gw2 has survived more off of layers of cheese than its predecessor in gw1 with required a good ping and sound reactions to get the best from it.
I like mesmer as much as the next person..I would even say a little more. However it does not take a genius to see anet dropped the ball with them. They took a light armour squishy profession with average HP pool and made it the strongest bunkering profession in game. They took a profession designed from the principle idea of thriving by interrupting and instead made them near 100-0 burst. They have never truly been able to frame or describe what role entirely mesmer was envisioned to play. As a result every long, long term mesmer can a test that the words nerf and mesmer are almost interchangeable. Anet had a good idea with mesmer..but it has never progressed beyond a good idea. Its cup is either too full, or near empty. That is mesmers ongoing problem. They are never, ever balanced..either wayy too much is given, or way too much is taken away.
It amusing to see people discussing ways to take mesmers down and the overall attitude is to bring a friend, when we all full well anet will take them down in about 60 days..the same as they have always done for 10 years straight.

Warrior nope. Even with hammer+mace/shield he wont last long enough to do a kitten. Thief counter rev quite nicely and can destroy viper rev tho. But cause community screams its unviable then its “unviable”.. till another esl team bring thief out to crush revs. Braindead folks

Corruption necro is superior to thief for dealing with viper rev’s.
Stability and resistance are all boons. With 3 signets that all corrupt 2 boons per pop they make short work of both boons. Couple this with necro’s will also passively corrupt 3 boons passively and corrupt further boons when entering reaper shroud. If the rev enters soothing bastion both warhorn and staff are unblockable by the rev. Also with the viper rev only utilizes 3 conditions to any affect, which necro is either going to consume or transfer. Also bear in mind all this corruption is Aoe and will tag anyone near the rev. If thief is the ‘crusher’ of viper rev, then necro is next level above that. That is why thief and warrior currently have no place, because they are second rate at any given task.
