If you play pvp exclusively, what is your need for ascended armour, which is mostly useful for fractals?
If you mostly pvp, then it is fair and reasonable to assume you rarely use gold sinks. Again, not earning much or spending much equates that you contribute poorly to the over all economy.
The components you’re talking about in pvp benefit players who play across all platforms. They can acquire materials towards ascended gear from fractals, wvw, open world and pvp.
Gw2 has given player the easiest path to ascended gear they if they wish, or feel they have been excluded.. It is called a credit card.
All attacks break cloak. Rules are only rules when they apply to everyone.
I am fine with all of this, provided…
They fix;
The lame f1 on hammer..choose berserker or vanilla. They both stall, have overtly long animations and do little with how much stability is present.
The day one rush, shield bash, stomp animations.
Remove the back ending of damage on greatsword and axe.
Finally fix the terrible placement of skills within trees.
Make a half decent attempt to great diversity. Warriors ulitity skills haven’t change since beta. 95% of warriors all run the exact same thing.
Add some juice back to shouts.
Fix the main issue that anyone who has ever played warrior for more than 6 months knows exactly what upsets and ruins a warriors day completely. They know where the clunk is, they know how to short stop the crits. They are predictable…woefully predictable. For the longest of time the masses have assigned warrior the title of, “lowest skill cap.” Yet here we are discussing yet another warrior nerf thread.
Ironic that the most predictable, animated profession in the game is yet again up for nerf discussions.
Take the primal burst on mace. Build adrenaline. Enter berserk mode. Fire highly animated f1 that can be dodged, evaded or blocked and is 90% predictable, which has no other condition application outside of the primal burst, and nerf the condi on it..so its stun is near useless with break stuns and stability and its power coefficients are bottom tier…and shzamm..you’ve got another underwhelming weapon.
Just play warrior and you’ll have no issue learning what ruins them. If you still do, then try getting passably good with warrior…if that doesn’t work, well the esports nature gw2 wants has highlighted this game is not for you.
Triumph.
Best designed fractal.
With no knowledge and pugging we found straight forward to figure the puzzles without them being overly cryptic.
Awesome boss final. Each profession has mechanics that are useful against it.
Well done.
No amount of support will ever made the terribly slow cast times better when there is so much CC currently in game.
I haven’t looked at the video and I won’t because it’s probably just another evade spam condi thief. It’s by far the cheapest build in the game, but it’s far from the best. It’s OP, but whatever counters it does have are extremely powerful against it. They have poor mobility, their dodge conditions are projectiles, though reflections don’t work because they’re still evading at the same time, so any projectile protecting skills will help. They are easily blocked and dodged, and a well timed interrupt or burst can make them run because they’re squishy against power damage. If you’re fighting alone and you can manage to get a well timed condi bomb against them, stop attacking and they’ll have nothing to evade to remove the condis. The build only has a few counters but those counters are abundant and powerful, which is why you’ll never see a top tier team running it without a real good reason, a reason which probably doesn’t exist.
lol its worst than condi evade thief, its a evade thief w/o condi -_-
Lolz…
Two things all new necro players should take from this video;
1) The importance in keeping distance from your target. The video showcases a lot of kiting that the opponent failed to deal with.
2) Importance of not spamming skills for the sake of trying to get a few extra bleed stacks.
Regardless of build, practice these two things with necro and you’ll find win/loss ratio improves.
Install geforce experience program.
It will help optimise all of your games and auto detect driver etc.
I wouldn’t say necro has the lowest condi D.P.S application. I would say it has the slowest though.
Just be careful about naming names.
I was watching a person play gw2 awhile ago and their finger dexterity was of the charts. It kinda helped that they were also a proficiently trained typist. Computer peripherals today can have some some lightning fast response times, and the only thing holding them back is the persons input speed.
It should also be noted that that gw2 isn’t very optimized for macro’s. The after-cast/precast of some skills just don’t make macros needed because a normal gamer’s average input speed is sufficient.
Also some macro’s have the disadvantage that once activated they will perform a sequence of inputs. Most professions build rotations are some what predictable in terms of what your looking out for. Once you see the typical chain start, you take a counter measure which then upsets the rest of the macro and puts all of the skills on cool down if you they don’t cancel it.
However the stated policy is, “One button press does one action.”
Play a vanilla signet warrior with concentration stat and sword. You will get far better numbers from it if you use sword master. However without that trait, then yes…sword does really do anything well. You’ll need a form of quickness for final thrust.
It can be done, but axe and great sword are superior if you’re looking to really hit high crit numbers.
Overall there are too many builds that have far too much of everything.
I am fine with players having access to;
1) stealth
2) teleports
3) Invulnerability
4) snares
5) instant spike damage
6) Blocks
7) Condition removal
8) interrupts
9) Stun breaks
10) Pets
11) super speed
12 En masse boons
My issue is when one build can have 90% of all of this and in limited cases 100%.
It forces a situation that if a player can have all of this, they’d be stupid not to use it.
Ergo the same meta professions and builds prevail and the game becomes stagnant.
This has been suggested by me and about 150 other people over the last years. Anet took the idea, and made them into facets on the revenant.
Good work. The warrior forum is often the sounding board for other professions. I hope elementalist enjoys the suggestions you’ve made.
Remember when it was all berserker stat? If you weren’t berserker you got kicked.
Then condition stacking got increased and bosses were given mad toughness scaling and health pools, so if you were berserker stat, you got kicked.
Then someone decided to just play around with buffs and be neither berserker or condition..they decided to fill that elusive role of, “support.”
Now if you are support, you will be kick. However, you’ll also get some nice damage buffs…welcome back power creep..hello again berserker stat.
Slow clap.
Why do people insist on calling it a balance patch?
Has it ever been balanced?..or just one hot mess after another?
When is the next hot mess likely to take effect?
Go to the quantify website or check out thier youtube channel. The ps burnzerker is a meta build now used in raids. Guess what it uses sword/torch and longbow with 20k burns.
Burn fields do not overlap now and have an internal cooldown of 0.5 seconds. Maybe once upon it did 20k..but those days are gone.
F.Y.I it was longbow doing the burns..this discussion is about sword. Get back to us about the bleed ticks and durations this meta build does currently. I will show a necro build that can do double.
Great videos of what warrior does the best. Crush inexperienced players.
I see a lot of hotjoin and PvE titles in the videos. When I am shown a swordmaster video of a warrior in 2 x legendary division I will change my view. However, I will not see that video, because it doesn’t exist…because no one got too, or even tried to make sword viable against other players who were experienced.
Savage leap is jerky and over shoots as much as bulls rush and flurry has a terrible pre and aftercast.
Thanks for chiming in, but those 2 videos don’t add anything credible to swords defense.
Playing since beta doesn’t add cred either. A lot of players have also played since beta, as in….guild wars 1 beta.
I really hope they’ve looked at Warrior’s ability to stack perma-resistance. That kittens broken.
It also affects warrior ability to stack permanent might. In PvP where life siphon and corruption make short work of resistance comes at the cost of the only viable, team PvE build is now nullified making warrior the profession that brings absolutely nothing, to any team, of any form in any game format.
I think BDO is so popular because it has extremely beautiful armor/outfits and extensive character customization. That’s something Anet could consider if they wanted to make more money off the gem store.
I agree.
Cosmetics that cater to the thematic and the fetish. Too much of the selections are a much of a muchness.
I actually just wish they would give Mace 1 a little more range. Kinda silly trying to melee someone to get that tiny bit of condi while the rest of the kit are actually more than melee range :/
What if I told you rev needed to build 100% adrenaline, then enter berserk mode and then land a 1/2 second melee range burst that can be blocked to apply conditions with a mace that does no other condition damage whatsoever. Would you still think revenant mace AA is a bit silly?
“Steal
- Is thief’s only profession mechanic, not including the stolen weapon.
- Instacast
- Teleports (without interrupting current action) to opponent if they’re 1200 away or closer"
Steal, initiative, augmented weapon skill 1 in stealth, stolen skill are thief mechanics.
Teleported skill is not a mechanic. It is simply how the skills usage cues.
To be fair, I created a warrior build with sword in mind.
It has to be vanilla warrior to work, but in wvw I was getting 8k final thrust-100% crit chance-4k flurry-6k impale/rend and typically 1.5-2k auto attacks. I felt pretty sweet about it, but it is horrendously expensive to make. In Spvp it did exactly the same, but 20% less on the damage numbers. However, despite outplaying opponents, it still falls victim to cheese builds.
People can’t say I didn’t try hard and spend lots to make sword viable. I did some sweet things with it..but found I was always reverting to rifle to finish them off. It did better than I expected, but it still struggles to finish what it started.
If I am going to comment on this thread twice..then huge shout out to Bound/vault spam thief and perma-evade condition spam thief. Try fighting those two on a side node.
Honourable mentions to revenant and blink/distortion mesmers.
Load up a warrior and use the build template “high condition, control, duelist.” and enjoy how far you get with that.
There is 2 overall theories;
1) Perfect balance. Everything is tuned, more or less to be on the same page as each other. The advantage comes from what you do with it. The example being chess. However, the limitation is that although there is potentially millions of iterations in chess one can learn these and selectively choose which iterations work best against opposing iterations. It now becomes a game where the player with the most depth of game technique and proper implementation will succeed.
2)Imperfect balance.
The game is never truly balanced and you expect to see meta situations developed. People will play what gives them the most advantage. However, as players bandwagon other players begin to form tactics to counter the bandwagoner’s. In order to do each player needs to have access a large and diverse range of resources to create unique counter meta strategies.
What we have seen is a mixture of both. Maps are conquest so builds are irrelevant here. Whoever positions to holds the most nodes will secure the most points. In order to secure these nodes there will moments of conflict where the players using meta advantages will probably win.
The best thing at this point would be to remove skill trees as we know them. Each skill will have a tree in which it can be found, but players have a limited amount of choice in choosing skills from any tree. Players currently having to invest in adept and minor, major traits just to get one grandmaster trait is severely limiting build diversity and the ability to create counter meta tactics. It needs to be remembered that imperfect balance requires a large and diverse pool of resources to work.
Let players choose;
3 grandmaster traits
3 major traits
3 adept traits
9 conjunction traits.
Add a lot more cultural skills.
Stop removing amulets and runes.
This would create broader resources and allow meta/counter meta to improve and is in the best interests of imperfect balance.
Reapers have the same base negation abilities as everyone else.
1) Dodge A.K.A evade
2) Evade A.K.A dodge
Let endurance refill for 2 more free negations. They both come at the free affordable price of timing them well.
The other thing you can also do for free is to keep your necro in PvE for now. They just aren’t the best in PvP currently. They are too slow and too easy to target/flatten.
I agree and disagree with a test server for future balance updates.
Major tournaments should play on the server while the majority of the casual community shouldn’t have access to future updates. And/or only the top mmr/win% players should only have access to it. Though many will be dissapointed, this just makes sense for a lot of reasons but I wont go into detail yet.
Then there’s whether or not Anet can cough up the budget for developing and maintaining another server for beta balance patches. On paper it sounds awesome mainly because other mmorpg games has it but, this isn’t a subscription based rpg. Their resources have to be allocated appropriately and I honestly think they can’t fit it in their budget.
Do you also think only the top 1% of income earners should decide tax law policy and rates? Of course, you don’t because that would be stupid and short-sighted. Yet that is exactly what your purposing by only having tournament teams allowed to made comments on balance patches.
Prime example in WTS tournament, denial ran the worst necro build you could possibly make. Even the commentators scratched their head at it. Why did they do? It was purely there to absorb condi’s and be a rez bot on mid. They also won…
In short, they are worst people to design to patches when they create builds where 4 others have to carry one person and just use them as life boat if they need.
You’re missing the bigger picture. You are being sent divine intervention. The universe is willing you to play revenant. You have to remember that Rytlock dropped warrior for revenant, and he was the only warrior that could use off-hand pistol.
Having formal education in economics helps in understanding his goal.
Economies are often confused for financial markets. They are not the same thing, but closely tie in with each other because cash is the medium by which we exchange.
Economies are based on supply and demand in the allocation of resources.
All economies are dispassionate and operate with perfect efficiency with no interference.
Essentially this is all he is saying. They are currently going to allow the economy to operate in a dispassionate way. In other words, some high-value items are going be allowed to bottom out and make people unhappy, but some people who have been struggling to acquire these same high-value items will become happy. This will be allowed to continue until a majority of items have reached an equilibrium point where supply and demand have operated together to create a realistic value for the item(s). He is making designs for items to be intrinsic in value rather than token.
Sword/Torch+LB condi PS is meta for many fractals and raid encounters in PvE. Not every weapon is going to be meta in every game mode. You don’t see similar comparisons on ele forums saying that staff is “pretty dumb” because it isn’t used well in PvP?
Sword/sword-Longbow is meta. However, the weapon sets themselves don’t matter. It is the phalanx strength people are wanting. Pound for pound viper warrior does a subpar job in the role of condition stacking. If you take a viper warrior with agony sigils and they can only build about 10 stacks of bleed and maintain on average 4-6 stacks of burning. They can peak higher than this, but the duration just doesn’t last for any substantial time and requires them to be in melee range the entire time. When compared with Necromancer, these numbers are laughable at best and their ability to tank simply does not compare.
Too many adjustments have been made to warrior weapons which have rendered them subpar.
1) Offhand axe
2) Back-loading main hand axe damage.
3) Sword neither scaling with power or condition duration/application
4) Hammer across the board.
5) Longbow being a jack of no trade.
6) Off hand mace.
I have to say, I really don’t understand the complaining about DH at all. They are not OP at all and actually need a buff, not a nerf, to be competitive at pro level (which is what the game should be balanced around in my opinion) because it is hardly ever used at the moment. I also have to say the class stacking is not a problem either. If I see 3+ guards on the enemy team I feel pretty confident that we are going to win because it really is not a good composition at all. Guard is fairly easy to play compared to a thief, Rev or mes for example but when things are played to their maximum potential or close to it, a guard is not brilliant (it’s good, but not fantastic) so I really would not appreciate a guard nerf next patch.
Things like Druid are in need of much more of a nerf than guard is in my honest opinion.
If your argument is sound, it should stand up to an analogy. What you’re basically saying is tax laws should be created and balanced based on the top 1% of income earners.
Create armours for each of the races, not for the professions. Problem solved. They touched on the solution with cultural armours, and identified the problem when they copy/paste cultural armour overlays and tired to make them gem store items that clipped on different forms. We all remember the flame kissed debacle.
If creating profession armours that fit all 5 races is the issue and a resource drain, then move resources towards solutions rather than keeping to the dogma of, “..But this is how we’ve always done it…”
literally is the PvP potions and 2 gold.
I have 28k AP and 8.5k games played. I have 95% of the skins available from PvP. Im 1/3 way done with leystone armor and 1/2 done with bladed armor and then 1/2 with plated weapons. All from PvP tracks and im not to interested in the easter egg hunts to finish them.
So PvP potions ……………
^ This guy.
PvP failed to be skilled orientated a long time ago. As long as you understand rotations and how to play a numbers game, you’ll win. It has got to the point that tournament players have satire streams of them queing solo and showcasing how they’ve orchestrated the win from the first 10 seconds of the match when they could see where the opponents were headed towards first. It is not even beyond them to log out half way through and swap alts and rejoin and be 150 points down and still turn it round to a winning match.
It’s good that the game forces us to choose. Granting access to more skills or more traitlines only means people will give even less thought to their builds.
Try talking to warrior. They are forced to take trees they don’t want for one singular skill or forgo traits they want because the entire tree has nothing else of any use to offer.
Try playing a power warrior where you want to make use of the arms tree signet trait and unblockable attacks. It just isn’t going to work for you at all. This is why guardians and warrior 90% of the time have the same utilities for the last 3 years. Poorly structured trees with traits in terrible areas they don’t fit into or belong to.
Get rid of skill trees altogether.
Each profession can choose;
3 x grandmaster traits
3 x master
3 x adept
9 x conjunction.
If you need a form restraint, then cap that only 3 skills can be taken from any one tree. If you find people aren’t using any traits at all..those are the ones you need to change. If you find people are only using certain trees, those are the ones that were never balanced in the first place. It lays a better framework and has more linear metrics to work with for future development.
This way you can as many trees as you wish, but the total pool of active skills any one player can utilise remains capped.
Like many players, it becomes tiresome and boring having to elect dead weight traits in order to get the one grand master you’re after, or having to take a whole tree when all you wanted was the adept trait.
Agreed.
No wants to be hater, but warrior is a dumpster fire of problems. It is all just a combination of the community being ignored and now there is a near endless list of small to moderate things that either don’t work, make no sense or have no practical use on warrior.
Sword had its power scaling lowered, then it had it bleed application lowered. Longbow has been bounced all over the show, rifle has had more ups and downs that a roller coaster, axe and great sword have had their damage back-ended, tgraits in terrible locations..fire fields given inter cool downs that makes them sub par for any sort of condition build, mace berserker burst oddly condition damage when no other use of the weapon supports any sort of condition play. Hammer is nothing more than a paper weight you use on your desk.
The terrible thing is that all of this has been talked about for years in some cases. Yet nothing changes for ol’ warrior..first they get given, then they have something taken away and something else moved to a completely inappropriate trait tree.
I have AR150 viper necro and an AR150 viper warrior. It seems plausible that both should be able to perform much the same as each other in their own unique ways…but everybody legit knows I am gimping any team I am on taking the warrior over the necro. Warrior is just in a sad, sad place. Power builds are subpar..sustain builds are subpar..condi builds are subpar.
If you want power..take thief/rev
If you want support take druid/engi/ele
If you want condi take necro, mesmer.
for all players who ever won 1st place on a pug quest, academy gaming, esl, world tourney series, anything with prizes sponsored by anet, please give them a title or something to show off their accomplishments as being a little more than just people grinding for legendary backpieces so they feel a little more happy they put more effort into this game than most competitively. \(0A0/
They were given something. It was called the prizes they received.
Every Team in championship…so you mean 0.0001% of player population?
Sounds reasonable we should base future game developments based on that percentage of players who had prepared, organised and practised for months for a singular team play.
I guess by that thinking warrior should in line for massive buffs, because only 2 players in the WTS used them. Both those teams lost. Therefore warrior must be weak being so poorly represented and not having any semblance of success.
How about we just don’t mention tournaments that required only one profession per team and only represent less than 0.1 percent of the player population.
Yeah we definitely need more damage on our power weapons/more and better modifiers.
Sadly, anet seems to be hesistant to give us both direct damage buffs (oh we should be all about debuffing/finishing off what’s basically dead and getting our power from that!!!! smh) and neither do they want to give us anything meaningful for group play. Vulnerability is thrown around like there’s no tomorrow and besides vampiric presence we don’t really have any special buffs only we can bring, which further diminishes any reason to pick a power nec. We should’ve gotten the +150 Ferocity buff Rev got, but as someone’s signature nicely put it, “Revenant is proof that devs read the Necro forums”Meaningful for group play?
You can go to youtube and watch a necro solo lvl 97 thermo and lvl 100.
Necro doesn’t need game play. That is why the optimal group is 5 necro’s in fractals. They melt anything and everything. End of story.…lmao?
You can go to youtube and watch a mesmer solo old 50 cliffside. You can go to youtube and watch an engi solo 100 Mai Trin. You can watch a Thief solo old 50 Mossman without HUD. Your point?
“Necro doesn’t need gameplay” must be the dumbest and most trollish statement I’ve read in some time so I’m not sure why I’m even taking the bait but whatever. Necros are doing well when it comes to being self-sufficient and have a good spot when condis are in play, even more so in combination with adds, but that’s about it. They’re not the highest dps, they don’t bring much group support and the second you have 2+ necros it is even less overall and despite popular belief, 5 necros or 4 necros 1 druid is far from being the most effective comp to do fractals. It is the easiest one because if the people sitting behind the PCs have half a brain they can stay alive without having to rely on their team too much (which can be a real problem in pugs), but it is neither the fastest nor the most effective if you’re talking about actual groups.
8000 fractals run with the majority at there highest level proves just about every you have said wrong.
Your living in the past when condi stacks and poor stat selection was an issue. You seem to be stuck in the past when downing lupi in 20 seconds was a sign of a good team. Everything you stated is exactly why they still are the most called for group in T4. They only get stronger when you add more. They excel better the more adds to have. They are entirely self sufficient. There is no mistlock that affects them in any meaningful way. You can simply Minion factory if you want and capably survive.
Let me state the reality again for you, you don’t need group play when everyone if your group already has everything they need to excel. By any metric there is no encounter that a pact of ‘squishy’ viper necro can’t do faster and better than any power or balanced group. That is why in each profession forum you’re still seeing, “power builds still suck at fractals.”
You need to wake up if you think necro needs more. They only thing they need in PvE, if anything, is more necro’s.
The moment you believed that any half brain player can stay alive with out much assistance from their team is a real problem for PuGs kinda showcases what you think is a real problem.
Half smart people+capability staying alive+ needing little support or being carried+stacking reliable and consistent damage= real problem for PuGs
Look at that thinking..and you ask me if I am being serious?
You may as well as said;
Heaps of expendable cash+ great health+fantastic career+ beautiful partner = real life problems.

I agree with the pieces about being slow and having no real active defences in PvP.
It is just too easy for mobile builds to hard nullify necromancers while they’re trapped in slow animations and have no recourse when being focused.
They have some of the best synergy, but at such a slow pace they can never truly gather enough momentum to ever see it through successfully.
They are much like warrior,..a great profession to crush inexperienced players and can be effective with the right environment, but apart from that they just don’t thrive in the experienced and skilled player categories. The best examples of them excelling are by players who excel with any profession. In other words the player simply out played you without assistance from their profession or build. (I.E they dodged your moa, they blocked your skull crack, they reset the fight after you spammed your traps.)
(edited by CntrlAltDefeat.1465)
DH and Necro are two classes that are super easy to play. There’s a relatively low skill cap. But if you faceroll 1-8, you can wipe much higher skill cap classes with relative ease.
That’s why people complain. People may complain about rev, engi, thief, or mesmer, but they have the higher skill caps and take more effort to play well.
You’re Not very good at necro.
No blocks. The slowest heal in game.
No immunities.
Little team support.
No mobility.
Always first targeted.
Any necro that can not only survive, but do well indicates that the skill floor maybe low in pve, but that does not mean the skill ceiling is low in PvP.
The 3 things I agree with.
1) He is right about sapphire and legend. Some players are exceedingly expert, however by and large the only difference is whether you had the time to grind.
2) Not having heard of abjured. Why are they being paraded to me and what significance is a tournament to me? I don’t know them, I have too many others to do in real life than watch a game when I could play a game and lastly I wasn’t invited to play in any tournament. For 99% of us, these people mean nothing, these events mean nothing. We have no connection to them.
3) Let them experience what we have all had to experience every time we login into PvP. It’s one thing for your job to trial run play a few matches and see things aren’t quite right. It is another to log in voluntarily with the expectation of fun and see things aren’t quite right and have never been right for some time now. You still have the odd enjoyable day, but most days with each change made the game feels like you’re being trolled and getting told it’s challenging, when you can clearly see it isn’t challenging..its just annoying mechanics all stacked on top of each other.

Necro doesn’t need game play. That is why the optimal group is 5 necro’s in fractals. They melt anything and everything. End of story.
I commented on a thread where people were praising the changes. I feel like you. Toxic trails etc seem confused and awkward. They add no extra element. They make everything massively annoying. They add far too much particle effect and lack any sort of original content.
I played Mai trin at 100, and during the canon fire I got the sky hammer start up. The poor sod it landed on had know where to go but get insta downed. That is not challenging…that’s just trolling your player base. The sky cannon take like 3-4 seconds to explode, how can you not evade it?? especially on mai trim that you dont have a lot of mobs ( just mai trin sitting in one place doing her animations, and the other going doing 1 shot every X seconds ).
Its a perfectly fine mechanic
Last phase of the canon stage 3. Moving either way got then agonised by wall, or put them directly in canon fire. They tried to tank the canon and got stunned into not being able to break out of the next barrage.
So you were saying something about perfectly fine mechanic?
Toxic trails on uncatergorized..perfectly fine mechanic you think?
Jade tentacles in the middle of green zones on bloom hunger also perfectly fine?
Flux bombs on ramps in cliffside/ perfectly fine?
Social awkwardness/toxic trail in catergorized on platforms and where 4 bosses all cover the floor in conditions also perfectly fine?
The O.P makes valid point. They’re troll mechanics in these situations. There is no denying that is how they feel.
I still run fractals successfully..the teams i join for dailies just step those stages and take as many in the 90’s range as possible. They do this because the sentiment is the same..they feel like you’re being trolled unnecessarily.
A lot people have given their perspective on warrior.
Keep it up. Hopefully it generates a good pool of idea’s.
Ultimately this is something that is hampering warrior as a profession and has been the constructive feedback for quite some time. Namely too many traits are in awkward locations and nothing can be optimised. Their traits don’t syngerize well with their skills. They suffer far too many movement bugs. There skills are overly selfish without enough team play options. Too many weapons are tied to a trait to make maximum use of them.
Fractals were meant to be about playing through Tyrian history.
This is factually wrong. It was confirmed several times that fractals could also be mythic history. Meaning things that never actually happened in the Tyrian timeline. Uncategorized, is not a real place in Tyria, nor has it ever been.
Also I might have to add, have you forgotten that someone is messing with the fractals? That’s what Chaos was all about, and now it’s bleeding over into other fractals. It’s an event.
You’re also forgetting the concept of original content.
Splicing bosses from one fractal and placing them in another and creating a new fractal that is just a sequence of existing ones mashed into one is nothing new. The biggest QQ from the add on’s in dark souls was the re-use of existing bosses and just changing their colour.
Making a clean martini is one thing..adding various ingredients of a pina colada to it doesn’t make it better, it just makes a drink that is muddled, confused and makes you spew. All you’ve done is affirm the state of fractals.
At launch is was Tyrian history..then unicorns and mythical events got added.
Then everyone’s fractal level got reset for leader boards, which never happened.
Then the promise of new fractals, which turned out to be a short term dungeon rehashed and put on steroids.
Agony resist was never needed, you could avoid agony, then you got unavoidable agony checks.
Then agony got increased, and infusion slots got removed.Essentially the only reason people mostly play fractals is the loot tables now. The idea of playing for fun doesn’t exist. Try posting fractals levels outside the dailies..you’ll be waiting all day for a group, because no one plays them for fun..only for the rewards.
Original content should be the priority, not change for change sake and making T4’s a hotch potch of scrambled fractal elements.
Since the start, people have cried over the rewards in fractals and the time it takes to get them. How it is now.. Was inevitable.
No one is crying over rewards. They play only for the rewards. Hence my statement, “Try advertising for group that isn’t doing dailies and you’ll be there all day.” In other words to repeat myself again….nobody plays them for fun. They only play for the rewards.
Why does no one play them for fun?..because for the longest time they have not been engaging. They are lacking original content by and large. Which is what I said to begin with. They have become a Frankenstein of reused elements all stitched together with annoying mechanics and labelled as challenging. This is why cliffside in the 80’s range is harder than Mai trin at 100. This is why social awkwardness is becoming an issue for lower tier PuGs.
Bloom hunger was solid and original content, but the objective was to make the challenge split between mossman and bloom hunger..mossman is a cluster bomb of adds and can be done in minutes..bloom hunger was over tuned with annoying mechanics and made to be more in line with raids. Essentially the first step in the direction of original content is marred again with the addition of mechanics that just don’t make sense. They create so much visual noise, throw in reused elements and get shipped out without enough forethought to whether this makes fractals an increasingly interesting experience where each tier gets increasingly more challenging.
Ultimately anet endeavours to do a good job, but compliments don’t make you better. It is objective, dispassionate critical feedback that makes you better.
Too much talking of kiting, baiting, timing etc…
There is a much easier way. Necro. You can’t stun them because of stability. Corrupt it.
You can’t snare them because of resistance. Corrupt it.
You can’t slice away the sustain because of the heals. Poison them.
You can’t effectively get through the blocks. Use unblockable attacks.
Add all this together= necro was your best choice if the 2 mesmers combined didn’t have a single boon strip between them.
