What is wrong whit this???????

I tried to replicate the build in HoTM with sinister amulet and and rage runes.
All in all the DPS for a hybrid build is pretty solid. I swapped to sword/torch for a variant and it still played fairly well against golems, but against live players it got eaten alive due to no condition removal. However in the PvE context conditions aren’t a huge issue unless you get Mai.

To be honest this build would be far more effective at fractals 75+ where enemy toughness and health pools become insanely high and power/crit build become near useless in terms of DPS.

The issue I would have with it personally as a team contributor would be that it is an entirely selfish build. Try not to take the term selfish personally, just in terms of that it offers very little to the group. On the long standing warrior dungeon meta build it offers large cleave, high vulnerability stacks, and for the most obvious part large amounts of might stacking via Phalanx strength. The current meta also allows for banners for group DPS maximising and battle standard for group revive in wipe situations.

I could see this build be enjoyable for solo play (although the lack of swiftness would annoy me.) But for fractals many teams look for group dynamic over individual excellence. It is not uncommon in the warrior community for many players to 2 or 3 sets of gear for different situations.

I personally have a condition set, an ascended set for fractals and a WvW set. All of which I use for whatever game mode I am planning on playing today.

It’s solid hybrid DPS build, but not very team orientated a side from the group fury boon. Maybe add banners. It will lower your persona DPS quite a bit, but will help appease teams that want more team dynamic.

Couldn’t agree more. Warrior is antiquated and designed off what appears to the 1970’s dungeons and dragons ideological warrior. I believe warrior play style should be form follows function and intuitive to use and not overly hot key orientated..but currently warrior is like playing a 2 button profession. One button says “Hulk” and the other button says “Smash.”

[Suggestion] Warrior Redone

in Warrior

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

Leave body blow as is. Increase bleeds stacks and weakness. This allows warrior to apply conditions with mace. Without this trait all condition builds will rely solely on sword main hand. This change lessens warrior diversity.

Phalanx strength shouldn’t be changed to toughness. Guardian can already do this. Phalanx is the one build that keeps warrior viable in PvE groups/fractals at the moment.

A lot of the suggested changes are simple upgrades on the existing trait. I appreciate the work you have put in, I have a similiar suggestion page of every single trait, how banners could be, what signets could do etc But my thinking is that warrior is in desperate need of an overall freshen up. A lot of traits and skills are antiquated, or have never fully been reliable because the coding is just not their for them to be 100% trustworthy. These skills should just be over hauled to a place they can be reliable. Many of warrior shouts are mundane or simply never get used 99% of the time and the whole signets line is entirely selfish and offers no team dynamic.

In PvP regards the only time I see warrior become some what effective is when I am running entirely glass build with no blocks (So necromancer) Even then simple kiting and blinding when the obvious set up is being worked pretty much allows me to contain them.

With each new elite spec each profession either got new toys that play differently, or in the lucky professions cases a whole new way to playing them. Berserker had a lot of work put into it, but not a lot of imagination or creativity. They added a whole new skill tree before addressing lack luster and broken skills. It is a real shame that after so much work the end result is warrior is still played exactly the same, has more selfish traits than ever, the broken and unreliable skills still remain. It was a lose-lose for both parties. It feels like a opportunity lost and a classic case of best intentions snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

I feel for the warrior community, PvP community and the develop staff. No one came out the winner on this on this one. However, it is not like it can’t be changed. All the area’s that failed to delivered the wished for results can be addressed. All it requires is a open mind and admitting the hope and has not matched the reality and figuring out how to bridge that disparity. No one ever thinks ‘thank goodness we picked a warrior and they can provide for the team some things I don’t have access to.’ However this is often said with guardian and mesmer reflects, engi and thief stealth, druids large scale party healing, revenants ever present boon stacking etc. All warrior can do is play one single minded build that as long as they attack they generate a lot of might to people within 600 units, and that’s it. In todays game, might stacking isn’t an issue anymore, which makes warrior redundant for the time being.

Berserker Lacking Synergy is a Lie

in Warrior

Posted by: CntrlAltDefeat.1465

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

Synergy, when the sum of its parts are greater thatnthe whole.

This is 2-3 traits that work ok with each other. This is not 2-3 skill tree’s that all combine well to make an over all stronger build than if they had not taken them.

All of these synergies are nullified with one block, dodge, blind and stability.

It is more a gimmick or a build approach than any actual true synergy.

If i could slide in unsuspecting foe and sundering mace, as well has something that does anything when it blocks+ blocking enemies creates situation X then we’d have some synergy beginning to happen.

Synergy as an example is;
Skill X turns boons into conditions. Blinding an opponent cause chill. Chill causes damage. Fear now also causes chill. Your marks are now unblockable. Critical hits on opponents below health value X cause chill to surrounding enemies. Your conditions restore a small percentage of health. This weapon extends conditions duration. This skill gives stability but can be burst to fear opponents, which in turn causes chill, which in turn heals you, which in turn if you then crit them chills surrounding enemies, which in turn damages them, which in turn heals you more….that is synergy of whole skill trees and traits within the trees working well with each other to the point the synergy is greater than the some of its parts.

Now compare that to warrior.
Warriors synergy may not be insulting, but it is disappointing and nothing more than a handful of traits that if they hit work well for a brief period of time.

Tell me the truth: Warrior and PVE

in Warrior

Posted by: CntrlAltDefeat.1465

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

“Truth” is pretty hard to come by. We can give you more opinions though…

Before HoT, Warrior always had a place in the dungeon meta as a Phalanx Strength/Banner bot. Greatsword still does excellent damage with tons of might stacking in PvE. You really can’t go wrong with Warrior for general PvE, and it probably still has a place in most dungeon meta groups that don’t have a Herald.

That said, Herald does what Phalanx Strength/Banner Warrior did, and better. That doesn’t make Warrior any less “powerful” for dungeons and PvE content, but generally speaking, Herald is going to be more desirable to most groups.

If you’re just playing PvE, I wouldn’t discourage you from leveling a Warrior. Just know that you will only be able to run one shoehorned build (Phalanx Strength meta), and if there is a Herald floating around, that player will probably get a spot on the team before you.

As for Berserker, I haven’t tested it extensively, but generally condi builds are hated by the dungeon meta “community” (I use the word community loosely). Berserker gets the most mileage from condi builds, so if you run a power or hybrid build with Berserker, you will probably catch flak from dungeon groups.

I’ve had great fun spamming Gunflame as a Berserker in PvE, but it probably won’t win any DPS awards. If you’re looking for super competitive PvE DPS numbers, don’t bother with Berserker at all.

^This guy.
The one thing warrior has going for it is that it is form follows function and it is intuitive to use. This suits a straight forward play style where the builds are purity of purpose and the gamep[lay is about being reactive. Warrior still has the ability to stick on PvE target fairly well. (Provided you know and understand all in game one shot mechanics.) However if Fractals etc is your end intention, take warrior to 80, but start crafting armour/AR infusions for something else. Warrior is antiquated, the receiver of multi awarding nerfs, obsolete in many ways. The introduction of berserker only showed cased what anet wanted warrior to be, but nothing players wanted warrior to be. It lacks good team dynamics and doesn’t synergise with any other profession well.

I play Pvp/ until recently level 50 fractals/ guild missions/general PvE/run 5 alts.

Strength
Reckless dodge-Increase damage to be in line with vault.
Death from above- fine as is.
Restorative strength- Healing increased coefficients from might. Gain might from heals.
Peak performance- Increased damage on physical skills/even faster recharge.
Building momentum- fine as is.
Body blow-Change skill tree to arms. Increase bleeds from 2-4. Increase weakness duration.
Forceful greatsword-Change to forceful weapon. Effects all weapons.
Great fortitude- increase 10% vitality to a more attractive number.
Stick and move- fine as is. It should also be effected by reckless dodge.
Berserker power- fine as is, but weapon damage coefficients need to be lifted.
Distracting strikes-Move to more appropriate tree.
Axe mastery-Could be good if axe didn’t have back loaded damage on the third strike. Needs improvement.
Add-Hard knocks at grandmaster. Physical skills also knock down now.
Arms
Precise strikes-fine as is. Could be lifted to adept tier with longer bleed duration added.
Berserker fury-Move to strength line. Increase threshold to 50% health.
Signet mastery-fine as is. Signets need to change though.
Opportunist-gain fury when you immobilize, stun or knock down an target.
Rending strikes-change to 100% chance to cause 1 vulnerability on critical hit. Add ICD
Unsuspecting foe- Fine as is. Mace hammer need better damage desperately for this to be of any use.
Deep strike- Fine as is.
Blademaster-fine as is.
Bloodlust-Increase damage to foes with conditions. Your bleeds last longer 15%
Burst precision- All bursts skills will critically hit. +10% damage. Currently no reason to take this over sigil of intelligence.
Furious-fine as is.
Duel wielding. Increase attack speeds
15%. Also includes torch. Speed increases with might stacks to go above 15%.

Defense
Thick skin- A straight universal increase in toughness or toughness increase as health decreases.
Shield master-fine as is.
Dogged march-fine as is.
Cull the weak-increased % damage to weakened foes.
Adrenal healing-Fine as is. Should be affect by adrenaline and the healing bonus from might stacks. Should not be static number affect by adrenaline alone.
Defy pain- A go to skill currently. Fine as is, but defy pain could do with a freshen up.
Armoured attack- Doesn’t deserve master tier status-Adept tier trait at best.
Sundering mace-Fine as is- mace attack speed/damage is the problem.
Spiked armour- Great trait. A trait that allows retaliation to be based off power would synergise well with this trait.
Last stand-Fine as is.
Cleansing ire-With all its fallibility of hitting or not hitting and how much adrenaline you have, it doesn’t deserve grandmaster tier. Condition durations on you affected by power. A powerful warrior vs weak conditon spammer=pea’s fired at brick wall. A powerful warrior vs condition spec=they have to work a lot harder with you.
Rousing resilience-Fine as is and befitting the defense tree.

Tactics
Determined revival- Gain toughness and increase revive speed.
leg specialist-good on paper, but fails to deliver in live play. A universal trait that allows any weapon a 33% chance at crippling would make this trait more desirable.
Quick breathing- Fine as is-warhorn is the issue. It got too nerfed.
Empowered-too similiar to revenant grandmaster tier. It suffers from identity crisis. Allies damage increased by 1% for each boon you place on them. 600 unit range.
Reviver might- feels like an after thought. Warriors make for terrible revivers currently. If someone goes down mesmer or guard is assigned the task. This trait needs a total rework.
Shrug it off-Increase healing. Breaks stun on allies as well in 900 range.
Burning arrows-Move to more appropriate tree. Recharges stay the same, attack speed and travel time decreased on bow.
Empower allies-Fine as is.
Inspiring presence-your presence reduces recharges on allies healing skill. 900 units. Combat only.
Powerful synergy- Not sure. Never used it. Neither has any other warrior. Ever. That suggest it needs a rework desperately.
Vigorous shouts-Shouts heal/gain adrenaline/reduce recharge on yours and allies shout abilities within 600 units. This would make for killer grouping with guardians and necros.
Phalanx strength-fine as is.

Discipline
Versatile rage-Fine as is. Remove combat only requirement. Yup. I said it.
Crack shot-move to adept strength line.
Warrior sprint-increase movement 25%. Increase movement to target by 33%. Combat only.
Venegful return_make baseline.
Fast hands-make baseline.
Inspiring banners-change to standard bearer. Reduces banner recharge. See idea’s on banners. Maybe not the right skill tree for it. Tactic would make more sense.
Destruction of the empowered-increase damage per number of boons. Not unique boons. Give might stackers a reason to be a little afraid when they see might at 20 stacks+vigor+swiftness+protection+regen
Brawlers recovery- removes 1 condition above 50% health. Removes 2 below 50% health. Will allows warriors to think about not having to use berserker stance at all with above suggestion of power affecting condition duration with cleansing ire.
Versatile power-One of the few very warrior traits we have-Perfect as is.
Merciless hammer- Why is it here? Seriously why is this here?
Heighten focus-Gorgeous grandmaster trait. Fine as is.
Burst mastery-Burst skills deal more damage. Blocked burst skills lose no adrenaline.

Berserker allow to settle into meta before changing for now.

Banners Banner no longer ground targeted. They are attached to warriors back. Pressing banner again changes first 5 skills on warrior. Recharges greatly shortened. duration shortened
Strength- Adds 1 stack of might for 4 seconds every 3 seconds.
1) Place might on allies with 600 unit to X value.
2) Renew might duration on allies within 600 units.
3) Allies with might gain swiftness.
4) Allies with might healing skill recharges faster.
5) Place banner away further reducing recharge.

Discipline
1) Increase allies precision.
2) increase allies ferocity.
3) Allies next 2 successful hits are critical.
4) Allies gain swiftness on critical hit.
5)Place banner away for further recharge reduction.

Defense and Tactics
You can see where I am going with this. It has a lot of room for potential growth in team dynamics. Can be used well for future raids and higher difficulty content.

Signets
Precision-Improves precision for you and allies passively. Active you and allies have increased critical hit increased to X value for X duration of time.

Strength- Passively improves allies power. Active-You and allies have 50% chance to penetrate blocks for X duration of time.

Stamina- In a fairly good place. Needs more team dynamic.

Dolyak-fine as is. A team passive effect would be nice. Active team dynamic would be awesome.

Physical skills
Just make them faster and cleaner. The warrior community is really tired of bull charge overshooting. The mesmer community appreciated the change to illusionary leap once they got used to it. Warriors would also be appreciative. Change throw bola’s to have an effect if it is blocked, or just make it unblockable. look at making frenzy a physical skill so it could synergise with changes suggested to peak performance and suggested hard knocks.

Shouts
Fear me- it only saw the light of day in the first 2 weeks of skyhammer introduction. Beyond that i tried to give mine to a ranger pet and even it said “no thanks” It has no practical use anywhere. Add torment to it at least and make it conditon user friendly.

On my mark yeah, this one could be soo much more..

Weapons
mace, hammer, longbow need more speed to them. The separation of damage and control was needed in hambow days, it is no longer needed. Hammer/mace rarely get used in PvE . Unless you wanna team break-bar and contributed nothing else.

dare I say it..time to shave some cast time off one hundred blades and over due that rush be made reliable.

Offhand mace/axe need a lot of love. I dare say you wont see offhand axe anywhere, in any facet of the game. It is just that terrible to use.

Yours respectfully.

Highest physical damage in game at melee range. That is it. A lot of veteran players to high level fractals etc all have a warrior. Basically it is a not the warrior that is important, more the player and their ability to pound fire shaman or lupi etc at point blank melee range and survive. Also if you don’t have a boon factory revenant in the party, then banners can be used as a poor substitute. Basically your taking one because nothing better would join your team.

Reread the title just saying.

Scrapper Stealth Gyro is OVER POWERED

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

No profession could use it in any sort of meaningful way apart from thief. Slowly it got added to ranger. Now it has been extended on mesmer and engineer and is no longer a strictly defensive tool.

You realize that Mesmers have all their stealth skills, traits and utilites since the release of this game, right? Even PU existed since headstart. A crappy version, but PU nonetheless. Then they added defensive buffs in 2013.

Concerning sneak gyro; I agree that the CD seems too low… but then again, I haven’t had any problems dealing with it. 20s is pretty neat for a skill like that. Mass Invis is basically a “Sneak Gyro” (4s pulse) with one single pulse (5s stealth) and it has a whopping 90s CD, and almost 2s cast time. Bigger range of course, but that seems like a huge tradeoff.

I do know about the thing you call mesmer. As stated “it has been extended on mesmer.” Decoy and torch were in the early game a GFTO mechanic. However they have evolved now to “They never saw me coming.” Since it became popularized with the changes to PU stealth is no longer just a defense tool. It is boon stacking mechanic and lead in attack. In the beginning it was stealth/blink away mechanic.

Again, to make it clear I am not wanting to target any one profession that can stealth, just stating that stealth, like all things should be in constant review to match whether the intention is equal to the usage. This is no different to the current fad of traps. is the intention matching up with the usage? Do they need a new approach of viewing them for future balancing concerns.

Wanna play bruiser? then play scrapper or ranger.
Want sustain? then reaper or druid.
Want high spike then daredevil/ thief/shiro revenant
Want to support then anything guardian/glint revenant.
Want layered complexity? Mesmer/engineer/ele
Want to be the roamer +1? Mesmer/thief/daredevil
Stunlock? Druid with selected pets.

On the medals podium warrior doesn’t even earn bronze in any category.

I am not a supporter of metabattle, but at looking at what stuff people are doing with all the new gear etc, the warrior experimental section looks very similiar to every other build they run (stances) and the meta section hasn’t been updated in what appears to be 9 months.

I just hope the more mature attitude warrior players get asked/used to help reinvent the profession.

While not being in Berserk mode.. it takes a while to get that 30 Adrenaline. We will most likely at around 50% HP and more or less swamped with conditions before getting that 30 Adrenaline or maybe even dead. (assuming our opponent isn’t just standing there and letting us whack them with impunity). Sadly, we won’t be able to make up for that loss of initiative after entering Berserk mode either..

It doesn’t take any while to get 30 adrenaline if you run Headbutt, it’s practically instant, and you can break the self stun with outrage and follow up with a berserker mode ->100b or whatever the hell you want. They’re still stunned for over 3 seconds if you do it fast enough and you have quickness.

Meanwhile we choose not to use our regular burst skills further limiting our combat skills.. if we do we give up entering Berserk mode entirely basically dumping the tree since all the benefits of the Berserker tree is tied to getting into Berserk mode.

Between headbutt instantly refilling my adrenaline bar every 20 seconds, berserker stance and getting adrenaline when hit I’m able to use regular burst skills without any problems…there’s a 25sec period between 2 consecutive berserker modes, the CD on headbutt is 20 (a 10 sec downtime when you’re not in berserker mode assuming you take smash brawler), its self explanatory, whatever else adrenaline you gain in the downtime period you’re free to dump in whichever regular burst skill you want.

As for slotting Adrenaline gain.. we need our skill slots for Stances and Condition clear we still have staying alive to worry about, making those slots crucial, offensively I think Bull Rush and Throw Bolas would be preferred as they enable us to kill our opponent if we manage to catch them disabled.

You still slot endure pain and berserker stance…outrage is a far better stun break than balanced stance. I mean bolas, for PvP really? I run Bull’s on my GS/axe+shield war when I don’t slot berserker…but I honestly find headbutt much better at the job, the CC is longer, the animation way less obvious, and its an instant adrenaline refill, the CD is also 12 seconds lower assuming you’d take peak performance with bull’s.

Lastly, the Berserker tree doesn’t cover any of our weaknesses in PvP.. and brings nothing to warrant us to run it over our other trait lines.

Can’t agree more but that’s a warrior problem, not a berserker problem :S

In PvP Its just.. flashy but brings little practical use, the mechanics need a bit of tweaking for it to be viable in PvP..

berserker mode brings much more superior condi cleanse (u cleanse 3 condis every 2.5 seconds literally, find me another class that can do that) and anti-cc tools. As well as more CC since a few of the primal bursts daze or immob, don’t forget headbutt too.

Without them it is dead in the water. It’s ‘burst’ is fundamentally weak and all too reliant that your target doesn’t block, passively mitigate any stuns, doesn’t spam blind and used all escapes. Even when the stars align perfectly many squishy profession still carry enough toughness now that a successful crit burst will hopefully get 4k damage..non crit your lucky to 1800-2k. That’s a lot work and set up for a lot of mediocre result. Effectively your weak to condition pressure, evade heavy builds, blockers and blinders. In other words your weak to 85% of builds in game. Not to mention, if everything fails them, they still have a second chance with warriors highly telegraphed skills.

The problems you listed about berserker burst skills are things a normal warrior suffers A LOT more from. missing a burst skill is much more punishing than missing a primal burst skill for reason I shouldn’t have to explain. Also, I don’t know what build you’re running but if you get 4k crits max on primal bursts your build is bad, very bad. I’m getting up to 8k arc dividers on light armored targets and easy 6k+ decapitate crits on EVERYTHING and it’s an AoE, and that’s when running berserker/defense/discipline. The rest of the problems you describe are all things a normal warrior has much more to deal with, normal war is much more susceptible to CC because it doesn’t have eternal champion nor a 10sec stun break, you’re much more susceptible to blinds screwing over your condi cleanse because you can only use normal burst skills roughly only a third as often as primal burst skills, same reasoning for blocks and heavy evades.

Your crit numbers are anecdotal and cherry picked. When using the provided builds on the crash test dummies good numbers were achieved on 100 blades. On axe skills/ bursts I was able to achieve 4 stack vulnerability and an average of 5 might. The highest number I achieved after pounding each of them over and over was 4.1k on the medium armour with marauder. In live play anything scoring above 3-4k was never purely on my part and mostly due to scrappers stacking 20 vulnerability or revenants pumping my might to low 20’s. I still concur with your original opinions. Warrior is a fun profession for crushing inexperienced people in hotjoin and finishing off targets others have started, but beyond that it is in a lack lustre place. Even if after building full adrenaline to trigger berserker and then reliably sticking to a target to hit 8K burst the reality is I can roll daredevil with warrior runes and barbarian rune and hit for 6k on vault and an additional 3k with a simple dodge roll towards them. This running runes/amulet that are middle ground at best. Adding berserker/marauder to the equation these numbers jump up drastically. Nothing more is required than the initiative and energy requirement, and it is instantly repeatable.
I appreciate your searching for a silver lining and finding something that is viable in the PvP context, but the more time you spend away from warrior the more it is highlighted that as a whole they are antiquated. Even the stated middle ground daredevil build just has too many counters to anything melee orientated. The superior amount of evades, blinds, endurance regen just leaves them hopelessly swinging at nothing 50% of the time. Your comments about the known counters applying to any warrior build only under lines how warrior counters are a ‘one size fits all.’ There is a lot of elements that can be stacked against them, and not enough tools for them to over come the vast numbers of counters reliably.
As a warrior player you have my full support with previous suggestions you have made. They are thoughtful and well recognised. Now is a good time for anet to take a meaningful look at;
Attack speeds on bow/hammer
the role of signets and what they could be.
Refresh shouts (on my mark/fear me)
Re-imagine physical skills that have never been used. (Kick/throw bola’s)
Move some traits to their more appropriate skill tree’s.
Investigate how spike damage builds negotiate overwhelming toughness builds.
Look at team dynamics and what warrior can be.
look at the plausibility of one universal trait that enhances all weapons.
get creative with offhand weapons.
Seriously look at if the intention was for warrior to be so dependent on stances.
Gap closering tidied up or simply be re-imagined.
Some traits given more grunt power (body blow)

Development staff have addressed this some time ago. Their response was that necro, much like warrior has multiple traits to fill life force/adrenaline. They felt that the core mechanics of each profession need to have a parity of sorts. It was for these reasons they don’t start necro’s with life force or warriors with adrenaline. However is saying that, they then went and nerfed adrenaline. In short, they’re happy with life force how it is.

I agree about stealth. Not particularly against engineer, just in general. Stealth in the early edition of game acted as escape buffer. No profession could use it in any sort of meaningful way apart from thief. Slowly it got added to ranger. Now it has been extended on mesmer and engineer and is no longer a strictly defensive tool. In their current state engineer stealth is situationally good in some PvE instances, but far from needed. In PvP though engineer/scrapper have a solid advantage in having no real weaknesses. They may not hit the hardest, move the fastest etc..but they are weak to nothing. The only way to truly beat an engineer is upset their play style. Even then with transmution/adaptive armour and a passive immunities it is also kinda helpful if they mistime a situation. Apart from that engineer is a solid profession at the moment. Each build a has a little wiggle room for customization by the player and they can be traited to have what they need when they need it. Engineer just doesn’t need stealth like it use to. At this point it can’t be removed, but it’s recharges and duration could certainly be looked at.

no. Problem is not on warrior but relies on other classes.

They do too much blind, too much block, too much attack while dodging, too much invisible traps stuffs.

And i am sure that is what should be nerfed and it will make warrior viable again.

Agreed. The amount of invulnerability/blind spam/blocks triggering into more blocks has left warrior dead in the water. Couple this with well telegraphed skills and bursts that only produce below average numbers have left warrior in a state either under development or everyone else in a state of over development. The irony is that anet has post a well written document about placing good feedback to help them develop various aspects of the game. In response many players have followed these guide lines and stated from the out skirts that berserker in theory is new, but not what was needed. I hope in time this feedback will be regularly reviewed to take warrior in a new and interesting direction. It is kinda sad that many people would have worked hard and creatively to create berserker and that the warrior community has just not taken to it. I appreciate the increase in damage they recently gave, but these increases only left berserker slightly closer to strength line,..which is still currently very lack luster in the current meta.

Rush/bull rush/whirlwind attack on warrior.

All of them have a high degree of missing or overshooting. Use all movement attack skills as if they are melee attacks. If you use them at any sort of range the game mechanics will often fail you. After 3 years illusionary leap etc all still have fail percentages attached when used at range. You gotta figure out how to use them to minimise the fail chance. Its just a issue in game that despite anet making some QoL changes, they have never really cracked 100% reliability on movement attack skills.
Over time you’ll figure out when and when it will not target properly. It is disappointing, but it happens.

The amount of feedback regarding warrior is becoming overwhelming. The two highest posted threads are regarding warrior lack of..well, …everything. I am trying not give up on the profession, but when a full zerker warrior can only max out 2800 dmg on a full 100B on a reaper/temptest/scrapper where are they to go?

The lack of any communication between dev’s and the warrior community is frustrating for many, to the point the more valuable question needs to be asked, Who has just shelved their warrior indefinitely?

For me I have dropped it in PvP.
In fractals I have agony resisted my revenant now.
In WvW I am using any profession but warrior.

I know I do not speak for everyone, but I see more elites and rev’s now and less and less warrior.

Welcome to warrior.
Distracting strikes and body blow in the power line.
Burst precision in the the condition line.
Stronger bow strings in the defense line.
Vigorous shouts in the power in line.
The list literally could go on.

So what you wanna do for condition build is invest in power. If you wanna support that damage with your bow, then invest in defense. What you don’t wanna do is invest in condition line because that will only increase your burst, which if you wanna invest in that you need to invest in discipline. To round the build out if you invest in defense, it is at the expense of hammer..the only weapon that knocks down and synergises with body blow, and interrupts for distracting strikes. So if you invest in defense, you only kitten the main purpose of the build which is to knock down and interrupt. However if you take berserker, you only kitten yourself by berserker not working at all with anything. Duel wielding doesn’t work with torch, and the whole arms line relies on fury. To get fury you now need to invest in………get the point?

No actual changes are needed. Just revert skills back to approximately 16 months ago when warrior could;

1) Go axe or greatsword for power builds.
2) Mace/hammer for control gameplay.
3) Duel sword/longbow for condition builds.
4) Hambow was strong, aggressive point control.
5) axe/shield-sword/mace- could be used for a balanced “something for every situation.”
6) Banner/shouts could be used for a healing support build.

It is one thing to talk openly about balance, but currently warrior doesn’t really have any builds to balance. The more important step is give them builds back.

Proposed Changes to Berserker Elite Spec

There is still no reason to take 2 seconds of immobilise over 2 seconds of stun. Currently there is -200% reason to never use that primal burst over it’s normal burst on hammer.

I support people trying to make berserker better, but the issue still occurs if skills/traits change or not…what build do you make with it? Every single build you can design with the tree has glaring holes in it. The nerfs and changes to warrior has made all of it’s skill tree’s awkward. Berserker just can’t make good, or even average use of trait synergy.

When I left the game warrior had greatsword power builds, hambow, duel sword condi and shout builds…now they have nothing. I can inly speak personally, but i was gutted with all the changes and like everyone else dropped the profession for others that are more competitive.

I stated something similar in a different post that having spent a lot of time away from the game and returning it is really apparent Anet have created the game they want, not the game the player wants. Berserker highlights in many ways. Everything they wanted berserker to be, nothing the player wanted berserker to be. Such a shame, all that effort and no one has taken to it.

So you spent what, a whole hour doing fractals and didnt get rewarded 20 gold from it? Shocking.

Flat gold gains throughout the entire game were nerfed. Going to take a few weeks for the economy to stabilize, and i know this isnt what people want to hear, but if you cant handle it go play a different game for a month and come back.

I agree about the economy changes. However, part of me recognises the frustration of the O.P. After 3000+ fractal runs. The only silver lining to never getting the longbow (which was the only reason I ran them) was the better loot tables+high magic find,..of which you needed to reset your D.R first. After having my Personal reward reset for leaderboards that never eventuated, now having AR pushed through the roof, having spent/farmed/crafted a tonne for gear (500 ectos just for the infused back piece) It truly does feel like the small community that could have earned 1.5 gold in 8 minutes in Cof that still persisted with fractals have not been recognised. All the time and effort spent keeping those instances alive by the small fractals player base has not been recognised.
To me it’s a game. For a while i found myself getting angry playing gw2, so I spent more than a year away. Upon coming back to see what changes are a foot with HoT I like more or less the profession changes, but in terms of environmental changes it is easy to see Anet is entirely about making gw2 about what they want. As a person who runs businesses and consults for under performing businesses I have found in my 20 years experience that making your business what your customers wants is the only recipe for success. Microsoft learned this the hard way when they first unveil the xbox one. It was everything they wanted, and what players wanted was barely featured. As a result a lot of their developments had to be abandoned, and all the resources developing those aspects was wasted. I can see this happening with fractals. Dungeons becoming under populated and fractals not being played by the majority to their highest tier. In other words, all the effort to develop these new systems eventually just pushes players away or they can be bothered to gold grind to get the gear needed to play them at their highest level. Ergo..it was a lot of effort for poor results. I hope this doesn’t happen, but it sincerely looks like anet could have handled these changes better and made them more rewarding, which all the player ever wanted to begin with.

Necro viable in Fractals/Dungeons/Raids?

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

I often F50, usually daily.

I enjoy necro, but at F50 builds becomes less about what you can do for yourself, and more about how to max the whole group. Warriors not running empower ally or P. Strength often get kicked. Guardians with no blocks will get kicked. Ranger without spotter etc…in groups these are the icons you look for. In this regard necro has little to offer. With the changes to transfusion etc they can be handy at Shaman if someone goes down, but ultimately in good conditions no one goes down. They can pull conditions off the group, but so can guardian with a single shout. This is the issue with necro that most teams have. They struggle to find meaningful ways to support and up lift the group.
Warriors-melee bulk, banners, keep might stacks at 25
Guardian-reflects/blocks/vulnerability on target/group quickness
Mesmer-reflects/combo fields
engi/thef- mass stealth/blinds and limited reflects.
Ele’s-perma fury/ PbAoE dps/Aura’s
Rangers-Group precision/group dmg buff/reflects/fire fields

Even if reaper could out DPS all other professions, they still struggle to provide group buffing. The most beneficial role they could do would be well siphons/vampirism for group health, but even then everyone needs to be stacked on the necro and its situational.

If your like me, keep your necro and quietly know how good a necro can be. If your interested in speed dungeons and high level fractals. Roll a warrior/Guard/ele/Thief for 100% spots, and engineer for 99% spot on teams.

Things that would make warrior less stagnant if buffed and changed;
Lowest priority-signets.
High priority-physical skills
Highest priority-Shouts, esp: Fear me/On my mark.

Like many warrior players, I’m in too deep with my warrior to just walk away from it. Too much time spend ascending and crafting legendary and infused everything.

However H.o.T carries little interest for me, because berserker offers nothing new to warrior. The elite doesn’t dramatically change warrior in any way. Warrior is in desperate need of spring clean and freshen up.

If ‘on my mark’ also caused taunt
or ‘fear me’ applied torment
If ‘throw bolas’ were instead lasso and could pull

Anything really that refreshes warrior would be a good step.

About 2 years ago developers were asked what role each profession plays. In regards to thief they said, “..their main strength is being to dictate the speed of an encounter.”

Earlier in your piece you have mentioned, “Is it ok for a class to dictate the speed of a match…(with only 2 abilities?)” This is, according to anet developers, thieve’s main strength. You have listed 2 abilities, but as earlier mentioned these are more than just abilities, they are game mechanics. Namely being Mobility and Stealth.

So to piece this all together, I can appreciate your frsutration, but thieve’s are exactly in line with what their purity of purpose is. They dictate the speed.

How to nerf Reaper

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

Anets stance on all the changes is basically to wait and see how it pans out. My only concern with this is that players become familiar with their new spec’s (and in some cases radically invest into whole new gear lines.) Then the changes hit. This sours the player experience. Best advice on how to balance a reaper, ..just don’t play one for 6 months and wait til the dust as settled, then start the serious discussion.

Dont bring back old pvp rewards

in PvP

Posted by: CntrlAltDefeat.1465

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

Allowing people to have skins from years ago takes nothing away from anyone else. What has been taken away from players is that previously in PvP different rewards were available according to what rank you were. When anet decided to remove this they also deleted any unspent currency Pvp players had. This is historically not uncommon for them to do. They also reset everyone fractals so they could introduce a leaderboard that never eventuated. So the big question is, if you bring back old PvP rewards will veteran players also get back their deleted PvP currencies? If fractal rewards are being reworked, will veteran fractal runners be retrospectively rewarded for having their level reset and there only being a reward now, after hundreds of rings etc have had to be deleted?

Point is, it never a good idea to go back in time. I have unspent black lions tickets. I like some of the skins that I missed out on that I could’ve got for one ticket, but now they’re either not available or worth more tickets than I have. Should we go back because i earned the reward, didn’t spend it and now that reward line was has been changed? No we shouldn’t..but making the skin available other methods harms nobody. It just means I now have to achieve it via a different means.

They gave people like two weeks notice to spend all of their glory… They also warned that fractals would be reset.

How are these things the same as bringing back various weapon and armor skins that were unintentionally taken out of the game.

Because these things weren’t “Unintentionally” taken out. Like you just stated, a clear window was given where these items, and the means to earn them where stated when they’d be gone. To revert back to old systems to allow players to achieve these via those means from months or years ago makes no sense. Just makes the skins available via other means. It hurts no one to do. Allowing a player to achieve an old school takes nothing away from anyone else. (However on fractal point they did take everything away. The reset was meant to introduce new rewards and a leaderboard, both of which never eventuated..so the reset was pointless.)

Noob Warrior Question

in Warrior

Posted by: CntrlAltDefeat.1465

CntrlAltDefeat.1465

There is a number of aspects to warrior skills that you have to become familiar with to get the most from your warrior. This is particularly true in PvP. Skills like rush and bulls charge will over shoot if you use them at their max distance. Hammer burst has a small delay/so does flurry. Whirlwind wind will fire straight through some targets and not hit once. Shield stance won’t activate if you use it too quickly after an evade. After playing one for a long time you just adapt to these things and change your play style to not not rely on gap closing and not to try and get certain skills to naturally flow into each other. Instead it is better to try and stick to your target relentlessly and use these skills as very short range mechanics. If you do you’ll notice their effectiveness increases. Just play warrior as a profession that needs to be within 600 units distance at all times.
