Warrior is terrible in PvE. The top 5 professions in 99% of Pve content currently are
1) Team quickness.
2) Spotter/assassin presence
3) Break bar proficiency
4) Alacrity
5) Large hit boxes multi hitting.

Warrior provides only one of these, and is a very far second place to staff ele. Mesmer is the most demanded profession. DPS mules just aren’t needed currently and even without a PS/EA warrior a team can maintain 20+ stacks of might and 100% fury up time. Warrior is not needed anymore to maintain DPS benchmarks..they are especially not needed or wanted in higher level fractals.

Interrupt their distortion..which can’t, but try anyway.
Run away from them when they block..forget the cap.
Avoid the multiple pink/purple Aoe fields and screen pollution.
keep excess stamina to avoid the potential moa, which hopefully you’ll see through all the animation mess.
Bring 5 stun breaks for the multiple spam interrupt.
Bring some sort of reveal in cases of stealth.
Bring heavy boon removal.
Bring 5 grandmaster traits.
Bring attacks that penetrate heavy evade.

The reality is, top tier players don’t like chronomancer, mid tier don’t like chronomancer, casuals don’t like chronomancer. The trend across the board is all universal.
1) Too many escapes.
2)Too many blocks.
3) Access to invulnerability.
4) Access to stealth.
5) Access to stuns.
6) Access to transforms.
7) Reliable swiftness.
8) Strong bunkering capabilities.

You can see they are just too good currently. However that can be said about a few elite professions, however this one is about mesmer. Dragon hunter has the same thread. Chillomancer has the same thread. Auramancer has the same thread. Mallyx rev has the same thread, Druid has the same thread.

The sooner anet and players all agree HoT pushed things too far, the sooner the terrible mess of ESL, leagues, ranked can be addressed.

Just because a very specific theorycraft suggestion about how to down them is in progress doesn’t mean they aren’t in a state of unbalance. It would be better we all agree Pvp is in a wack state..accept the nerfs, move on and hope for a usable balance patch.

With all the salt about leagues and chronobunker and how broken OP revenant is,..this is just a friendly reminder that warrior is terrible to play. Everything it hits is much toughness, such stun breaks.

Anyway..back to playing anything but warrior.

Old build. Swapped in berserker for strength. Drop balanced stance for eternal champion. Apart from that it is basically the same build warrior has been stuck with for the last 18 months if they wanna play power. Unblockables are nice, but not worth a thing when your blind and they are in either 2 seconds of evade animation off one skill, 4 seconds of evade off one well, in distortion or stealth..let alone throw in blurred frenzy..

With the proliferation of skills that grant super speed i had really hoped to see a faster meta develop. For years it feels like they’ve been working to speed up gameplay, reduce time spent doing nothing, and increase time fighting the other team… it’s felt as though they wanted the game to be interesting throughout the game… they wanted to hear battle cries of “it’s not over yet!” even when teams were down a couple hundred points… seeing the bunker meta develop is unfortunate… I think there was too little place for bunkers in the previous meta, but the complete 180 is just a pendulum of bad.

The bottom line is this. You have people in charge at ArenaNet over balance who are very, very bad at their jobs. There is no question about this. it comes down to the community essentially outsmarting the developers and putting together these team builds that are very effective at winning, but void of fun. To be very blunt, it’s garbage.

ArenaNet should be ashamed of their failure. They should realize the damage this is doing on Twitch as players who are potential customers tune in and see mess that it is and also for seasoned players who know how far GW2 PvP meta had come before HoT. They could have made a decision to keep HoT Elite Specs out of ranked play this season and let them cool off a bit and balance them over a year. In arrogance, they didn’t do that. So this is what we have today. sPvP meta reduced to five builds with heavy focus on bunker/power or bunker/condi duos.

It is garbage and it’s the failure of a small group of people inside ArenaNet. Those individuals took the the most phenomenal conquest experience to be had in a game and they effectively destroyed it. Yet there is no public acknowledgment of this failure. There is no course of action being taken to stop the hemorrhaging.

So let them keep going. Lets let this kitten design continue to reveal itself as ESL Pro play continues. Let’s let GW2 become the laughing stock of PvP. Is this what certain epople want?

Playing PvP these days is a bit like being tied down and forced to watch as your best friend is being violated by their parent.

Maybe the balancing team is very good at their jobs, but the person they answer to is the problem.

80% of warrior nerfs were driven by politics. The community hated them. They hated that after 1.5 years of being useless in Pvp that they were made god tier, they hated how many people flocked to them. So the dev’s nerfed the hell out of warrior. In every nerf the stated reasons were very arguable or entirely untrue. (E.g Long bow generates too much adrenaline..when it in fact generates none.) The players highlighted the flaws in the thinking both on an intellectual level and a factual one. However the nerfs still occurred and no further discussion or communication was given.
It proved the squeaky wheel gets the oil, and balancing as a whole is non existent. This has always been well known. Yet mesmer players seem surprised that they are about to be nerfed heavily..again,..for lord only knows how many times it is now..

On day one of chronomancer, anyone with any invested time in mesmer knew the nerfs were coming. With the current hatred for chrono bunker,..well we all saw what they did to early ele., thief, dhuumfire and warrior. The political voice from average players to ESL champs all say the same thing..so yes, mesmer is gonna get nerfed to a point it doesn’t have a place anymore. Let’s not all acted surprised. If you were smart, you knew it was coming the day before HoT even went live, because that is what has always been done to mesmers.

This is why gw1 had a much better pvp system. With dual professions (classes) and hundreds of skills your choice of builds and tech skills combos were almost unlimitless.

Did it still have its fotm sure. But even then when you know what was meta you could find ways to counter it.

? The last 2 years of gw1 GvG was exact mirror teams running the exact same builds, in the exact same composition. Winning came down to who who used what at the better time/target. If you log into gw1 today and watch a GvG match nothing has changed. It may have had more skills and duel professions, but you’re under a illusion if you believe this meant loads of diversity at top tier. There was no diversity at top tier. When, on the rare occasion it appeared, it quickly got nerfed. (E.G The small time frame paragon got used or twin dervish were used over warrior.) Apart from that diversity thrived for 5-6 months after the 2nd expac factions, but after that it became mirror teams right through to current day.

The official statement posted is that the ESL tournament was devised by the marketing team to help promote gw2 to new players. It was even pointed out that this ESl tournament didn’t have anything to do with the balancing team. So to recap in brief..a tournament was designed without the balancing team. A tournament…without a balancing team…if you’re like me, it all makes sense now.

One doesn’t have to look at employee reviews. They can simply look at the product.

No one is happy with fractals changes.
Very few are happy with PvP/MMR and leagues.
Dungeons have been reduced to nothing.
The overall gaming review of HoT was that is wasn’t enough quality content to sway players already existing opinion of gw2.
Many universal statements have been flip flopped on.
Balance patches are irregular, and rarely well thought out.

The in game evidence all suggests what employee reviews have stated. A lot of very talented people, but the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. The overall mission statement regarding the long term seem murky and changes too frequently and management has become detached from what the players wants and pursues what it deems most important, when at times this is exactly the opposite of what the players is looking for.

It is fair and reasonable to understand anet is business and ultimately looks, and needs to turn a profit to remain sustainable, but the overall opinion seems to suggest that reducing costs to extend profit margin is only going to go so far before investment in a long term vision, clearly articulated roles and teams with their own project managers and dead lines is needed.

I wish them all the best. Running a large organisation that retails and runs their product on a global scale is never going to be an easy task, but ultimately a company needs results and a satisfied customer base if it hopes to continue into the future. Eventually tough decisions will need to be made that is the current product what the original vision was?..and has a reasonable time frame been given to achieve this?..if it has been, and the product is not what was hoped for, then it is a classic case of the best person for job was not the right person for the job and it is time to have new leadership and vision established.

I like gw2 and both games anet have made, but with each year passing with gw2 I find myself having to grind through content that is not fun. It defies what a game should be at its core, a fun recreational passing of time. For players it has just got to the place where higher fractals are not fun. PvP match making is not fun. New content is burned through at astronomical speeds and goes dead, and no matter what content you play the rewards aren’t enough to enable you to now start on the next level of what was meant to challenging, but enjoyable content.

Not true. I can successfully pull opponents from the center of khylo down from the roof. The thing that is going to get you in PvP is passives. A lot passives activate on pull and launch. In PvE these skills (pulls) don’t operate by flight of the crow. It is the same with movement skills. Using them at their max range (or close to) will give the animation, but under the hood the coding doesn’t recognised they have connected. Welcome to first world warrior problems for the last 3 years. Also feel free to chuck in that anet loves making bosses where reflects won’t work, stuns wont work, immobilise wont work. They especially love not telling you. You can reflect the queen spider in AC, but you can’t reflect the giant spider in twilight arbor. Pulls have much higher success rates if you use them at no more than half their stated range.

The key ingredient to 100-0 is that you either take your target unaware, or target the most inexperienced player on the map. Anything outside of these parameters and its going to fail.

I am enjoying the meta, but I can see how others may not.

Mesmer bunker.
Dragon hunters of all skillranges filling teams.
Not a warrior or thief in sight.
There is no necro or reaper…just chill machines.
Mallyx rev’s by the dozen.

All the matches just blended into each other. I have seen this build before..seen this playstyle before..however using anything outside of it and you realise it has to be that build, and it has to be that playstyle or bust.

It is odd to me that all the light armoured professions bunker the best, The Melee DPS professions do the worst damage, the best team buffer now is favoured for bow and traps, the tradition bow and traps is now the best healer. The former best profession for wells doesn’t use wells anymore and instead another profession does. It is like profession identity doesn’t exist at all anymore.

gw2 is a great game in many ways, but it just has so many lose-lose aspects to ignore for both parties.

All I know is that when I had played 14 unranked matches and won 9 of them I played against a team that all had legendary champion title and all shared the same guild tag.

We got powerfully driven. After I just figured the care factor was never really there to begin with…so I never really cared either…I especially never cared enough to want to spend money in game again…and I never did.

Funny how when the customer doesn’t feel like they are being given a product that has been carefully designed to make it a fun experience, then they in turn don’t care enough to wanna support the experience any further.

At any rate, anet has heard all this before..seen it all before..had players come, had many leave blah blah and nothing ever really changes. Players unhappy, compnay returns 3% less each year than they were the year before, key staff moving to other companies… Lose-lose for everyone. At this stage I just feel bad for both people. Nobody is getting the experience they want.

To enter ranked arena one needs to obtain rank 20 first.
To achieve this new players enter hotjoin and unranked.
Typically hotjoin allows for faster matches and steady rank progession regardless of win/loss ratio.
Hotjoin is the king of evil when it comes to match manipulation.

If you’re going to crack down on players manipulating matches, it needs to come from the ground up. If they were punished right from the start with the dailies rooms etc then at higher levels players wouldn’t consider it.

Even in random arenas in gw1 players could get dishonored. It set the standard from entry level that if you are going to enter a match, then win-lose-draw you need to remain competitive.

Think of it like allowing kids to cheat on tests until age 12, then after that they’re not allowed. It is just better for the game as whole to have systems in place from ground zero upwards.

He also put out a video about how terrible warrior currently is. The issue with WvW video’s is you can’t account for how good the opponent is. Those guys simply looked liked they were there for capturing. The fact they had no food buffs kinda highlights they weren’t expecting any PvP.
If you’re wanting to play warrior, then go for it. However if you’re after some solid PvP, then pretty much every other profession has more to offer. Despite the addition of berserker I can say with certainty that even though I cant see his build, I already know what 99% of the traits will be. Warrior is just plain boring at the moment in terms of what diversity it has.

The problem is that you can solo que…get matched up against a 4 man guild premade on TS…lose the match…AND…lose a pip.

That’s just ridiculous and will not sustain a viable PvP playerbase. Nobody is going to put up with that and keep playing for very long.

For over a year people played with weird MMR match making. They still played.
For over a year soloQ people we’re put against premades..they still play.
For over a year highly casual players have had hotjoin exploited and side swapped to death…they still play.
Since the beginning the rewards in PvP have been terrible..they still play.
Since the beginning the buff/nerf train has frustrated players..they still play.

Gw2 seems to have a unique client base. They get a product which contradicts official statements by the company, they play it..they complain about it..yet here they still are. heck the company even has 200k to throw at a tournament.

Wait. Why do we need to nerf Mallyx? I’ve stomped condi Revs over and over on my Dual Sword Shiro/Glint set that has zero condi cleanse :o I’ve also stomped them on Daredevil, Reaper, Ranger, etc.

Only thing OP about it is when UA bugs out and leaves me standing in their aoe fields unable to do anything :S That and offhand shield which is fine on its own but that trait has got to go.

Just because everyone is bandwagoning Mallyx right now, doesn’t mean it’s broken though.

Why can’t things settle down so we can sort L2P issues from things that are truly unbalanced. This sort of posts are not beneficial to anyone, let alone the game.

Removing Durability Runes because of Herald? How is a 1.9 second resistance every 20 seconds supposedly over powered? And the boon duration exists on many runes. I don’t get your argument at all.

Because those little 1.9 seconds don’t happen every 20 seconds, they can be stacked to achieve 27-30 seconds of straight resistance. Take shiro/mally and invest in herald traits without using glint as a legend. Mace/axe-sword/shield and you’ll see what I mean. That is why what the OP is saying is sensible. better to have players suggest the nerf then let anet nerf. We all saw what happened to warrior and thief when the community got their hair about them. Now they barely usable in PvE, let alone PvP.

I was discussing this in another thread. I appreciate they have updated fractals to a degree, but the updates have created an ugly situation. The higher instabilities don’t feel like additional challenge, more like you’re being purposely annoyed. After dealing with these persistent and annoying instability, you receive little reward. This creates a situation where players all look to complete just three fractals now with minimal effort. This leads to Bloomhunger-mossman-mossman-done. Even then most PuG teams insist on exploiting. It gets to the point where either you go with the flow, or get kicked. Because of the scaling where this fractal is repeated it is difficult for players to progress beyond LvL 77 because everyone generally feels that the reward is lacking, so take the easy chest and hope for a small chance you may get something worthwhile once in blue moon.
Fractals has had it’s issues which over time anet has addressed in small drips and drabs, but with the latest update I don’t think they were trying to create an ugly situation, but it has ended up there. After running 3000+ easily fractals I would be happier at this point in time if fractals had just stayed the same. You commit to doing four, the max lvl is 50, the max AR needed was 75 and you received minor liquid rewards, but reasonable chances at comestic and useful gear for alt toons.

Everyone who is at that fractal level has played each one of the fractals multiple times. Not to mention the higher level fractals can be complete hell to finish without a decent group. AND the rewards are no better for the harder fractals. And even the easier fracs don’t particularly give a good time/reward investment. You’re wasting your time to do any other fractal unless you’re trying to complete the 50-100 achievement for the golden fractal weapon (which I already have). Unless they drastically increase the rewards of the harder fracs and make higher level fracs far more rewarding in general; it’s common sense to only do those two fractals. After a point, fractals is farming just like any other part of the game, and doing swamp/molten is no easier than any of the other mindless farming that’s part of the game. Especially arguably the most rewarding of all, SW chest farming.

tl;dr All fracs give the same rewards despite some being monumentally harder and longer than others. Give me 10 gold for completing a high level dredge fractal and I might consider doing it. Until then, let people do what fractals they choose to do, thanks.

Thanks for restating my point. “everyone who plays at those fractals has completed those fractals..” So everyone who has not progressed beyond 77 is eternally stuck there. Anyone who hacks their way there is not engaged and standing on a roof. It’s the new netflix and chill..yet, try to form a group for anything outside of this and all you get is the sound of crickets. Yet ppl want better rewards. Hence why it would be healthier to fix fractals first. Giving better rewards will only encourage more of what is already happening. The disparity of time invested in the problem, the ability to choose singular fractals is an issue. The older system addressed this better. A competent PuG could complete all 4 in 40 minutes and under at lvl 50. It promoted stronger team play and competency. Now it is just stack DPS machines in an exploit location and rinse-repeat. Where players want better rewards for doing less, achieving less, exploiting and playing as selfishly as possible. No matter how you look at it, anet is adjusting ascended drops at higher levels, but adding more reward with the current system is only going to make fractals more static and sad. I would rather see them fix the annoy/troll element instead of skill/challenge factor of the instabilities at higher levels first before addressing rewards.

Rewards shouldn’t be addressed until how fractals are addressed. For the last 2 weeks All I see is , “Daily master-bloomhunger-mossman-mossman again-job done for the day.”

Since the update instead of getting a chest after 4, you get it after 3 of playing the same fractal just at different scaling. Even then most players opt for going cheese mode exploit. Now there is complaints rewards aren’t good enough when lets face it, 80%+ of the community faceroll it as easily as possible with no attempt at playing through each fractal level.

Advertise thermo/dredge/snowblind in lvl 70+ you get no takers. Yet lvl 77 constantly advertised and filled. They tried something new, and it made fractals worse off for it.

Warriors and the balance patch

2 out 9 professions are below satisfied and disappointed with where there preferred profession is. 7 out of 9 are killing the other 2. For years rangers and necro’s were kicked from every PvE party, never used in tournaments and the one time ranger and necro saw the light of day was as home defenders with petting zoo’s.
It was a terrible time that one would have hoped wouldn’t be repeated. Turns out history does repeat itself. However, as long as 7 out of 9 are happy, anet will be considering this a success.

They are dead in PvE as well. Try playing a zerker spec at fractal lvl 80+ The afflicted instability makes short work of them, and their damage is pathetic.

CntrlAltDefeat, your going to tell me that the whole reason warrior is not in the meta right now is because of me? Yeah good one, in gw1 yeah warrior was a shot caller because they were the frontline fighter, they could see what was happening. Gw2 it’s the thief or the mesmer who calls the shots because he sways the fight instantly. They have the map awareness, and they do the observation. Please don’t question my skill level because your pride is hurt over the fact that your class isn’t the top dog. The point of this post isn’t for you to come in here and tell me how to play (because believe me, I don’t need instruction from you), it’s for me to figure out what changed for the warrior that dropped it from the meta. Considering more people than just myself even in this thread have claimed it’s the simplicity of the class obviously means that may be a contributor to their problem. So if you’re done being a kitten you may contribute POSITIVELY to this discussion to help others understand what your class needs to be restored to it’s once powerful state otherwise take your nonsense somewhere else.

Now for the people in this thread that are actually addressing the point:
What do you see as the necessary role for warrior to fill? Right now it’s kind of hit and run with gs, before it’s been tanky point fighter. What do you see as the role anet needs to push the warrior class towards with their changes?

Your not to blame. But the attitude you represent is.
It is beyond doubt, if your intelligent enough to recognise the general attitude towards warrior is the issue written between the lines. Thieve’s have the ability to instantly sway a team effectiveness? I guess that is why they are currently in a terrible state. Thief, in it’s better days simply made a reasonable decapper and solid +1, but they have never possessed the means or capacity to change or sway or leverage a situation. Guardian has held this spot since day dot. Mesmer? I am assuming your kidding now right? Mesmer has rarely ever been above mid tier at best. To scroll through the history of sensible feedback on the state of PvP shows the incredible amount of complaints about the state of mesmer. The nerf history shows that mesmer has never been reliable in terms of that every patch they receive numerous and continuous nerfs. At times they have possessed one key utility that has made them useful for rotations, but beyond that they have been more blue chip than every other profession combined. Just because they have achieved a place again in the meta with chronomancer doesn’t reflect their history accurately.
The skill ceiling ideology is flawed one. It is no different that stating a house with 15 rooms is easier to live in than a house with 25 rooms. If one moves from 15 to 25 rooms their is a small period where one might need to remember where the light switches are, and where the stair case is in the dark, but after 3 days you’re living as comfortably as ever. The skill ceiling people refer to is nothing more than a illusion. It is just a matter of time and immersion on any profession before you can play them without thinking. This idea that more clicks=more skill when broken down to simple analogy shows my point. Everything stated still doesn’t refute anything I have said. Warriors possessed 99% of needed information on screen at all times. It’s form follows function approach, high mobility, large cleave, AoE stuns (before stability became so ubiquitous) and for a brief window shouts made warrior more of a profession that could sway a node contest than thief or mesmer.
As for being positive, I was throughout all the beta weekend feedback. But the attitude by anet that warrior should be a selfish profession with little team dynamic now, a lot of traits angled purely at damage and large amount of skills that either don’t work, don’t behave reliably or are niche to 0.5% of the games entire content and players belief that they simple and singular has been a driving reason to why they have dropped out of the meta in PvP, fractals, WvW and are only used as a DPS mule in raids.

regarding the timer – doesn’t it promote dps over tanking (zerker meta over a more attrition based playstyle)

true, you’ll want condi damage as well as direct damage, but the timer really does rule out a bunch of playstyles, and pushing it towards a viper/zerker meta isn’t much better than the old pure zerker meta.

ANet set out to kill the all-berserker glass gear meta, not kill glass gear use. See, what happens is this: ANet creates instanced content that any combo of builds can complete; players use and demand all-glass gear and trivialize the content. That was/is many of the dungeon paths. It would be raids if ANet designed them to be done by any gear works parties. ANet did set out to enforce their soft trinity and it looks like they’ve come close to doing so. One arm of that trinity is damage, and if your goal is to prod players to make maximum use of all mechanics, then you need to prod them to make maximum use of the damage ones as well as everything else.

I’m not saying make content that any combo of builds can complete, just make some content that requires builds other than straight damage. the massive focus on damage is getting kinda old.

surely it’s possible to find a way to make tankier builds better in certain circumstances, or just shake things up a little.

What would you suggest? Off-tanking? Or are you looking for an encounter where everyone wears bulky gear instead of glass? That certainly isn’t going to be a staple, and throwing in an encounter or three … well, that will spread the need to have multiple gear sets to more players. I honestly don’t get this request.

Apart from prince or persia, the last of us and few others I am finding it difficult to name a game where damage is not the main mechanic of how you progress through the game.
The core issue is more to do with how bosses operate. They never really get updated or changed, so once you are familiar with what to expect you can actively defend against it by using evades and invulnerability or blocks. When you have reached this sort of zen, berserker gear becomes the natural choice. To simply make a boss immune to physical damage and feel this is a good step towards gear diversity feels myopic. I sincerely believe the current system of making bosses unshakable etc and giving them 2-3 uber attacks should be addressed. Make bosses far more diverse, rather than adding layers of annoying mechanics to get to them and making them child like but high toughness and HP. If you look at Fractals, the anomaly boss is just straight annoying in the 60 range. Huge HP pool, can’t be knock downed etc..endless amounts of annoying pulls and mobs to get to him, annoying tasks to complete, and when you’re there you get spammed with chill, immobilise and fear constantly and it is all named ‘challenging’ when in fact it is just straight up annoying. I kinda see raids falling more into this area where the bosses are predictable with large doses of annoy factor, rather than well constructed and dynamic where you need to think on your feet because rinse-repeat tactics won’t work. It would require god like coding by anet, but they were the ones that stated they wanted to revolutionize MMO’s to the next level, and that’s how you do it. Make bosses intelligent entities, not HP gods with 2-3 mechanics that they repeat over and over again with a swarm of annoying factors.

I am finding it difficult to name one thing that is good besides they added new content.
Has potential to be better and get better.

No story driven aspect.
Recycled boss skins, which in any game is a no-no.
Lack of rewards.
No looking for group tool.
feels hastily made and implemented (Because of generic skins/no story angle.)

Depends on gear, skill rotations and traits, but i’d say in order of pure dmg :

-Ele
-Thief
-Warrior
-Guardian
-Ranger
- Engineer
-Mesmer (depending on encounters)
- Necro (still seems to be at the bottom, but might have changed)

That’s at least fom my own experience. All depends what kind of addition of support you want to give to the group and what kind of encounters you have.
While mesmers generally deal less dps on average, with illusions up and the right build they can outdmg some other classes.
Thieves and warriors have high dps ( if well geared and traited can go up to 20-25K dps)

For fractals i love my warrior, for open world pve i prefer mesmer, ranger or herald, Ele has high dps, but is squishy (imo) and necro, well, i don’t like nor play it. Thief and engineer is just for fun.

You have to remember that you need to play the class you like. And every class has something to contribute to a group. Be it pure damage or more support, each has it’s task. And it’s not like fractals are speedruns either.
It might take a few tries, but coordination and knowing what your class is supposed to do makes a LOT of difference.

p.s. : i run fractals on warrior with GS/LB. the LB is quite amazing when used at the right moment (love the burn on that thing) and the GS, well, let’s just say i hit hard.

Take some of these builds with a grain of salt.
The first video of warrior doing 25K damage is very nut picked.
They had a Phalanx strength warrior beside them with banners
Assassins presence and facets/maxed vulnerability from herald
Spotter and frost spirit from druid
alcrity/time warp from chronomancer
Food buffs.

Minus all of this and you can expect a standard warrior build to hit for 14-15k on bloomhunger at fractal lvl 56. (Which is what they were playing.)

If you wanna max damage, just do what that team did. Have someone max might, another person max vulnerability, another person buff base power and precision and another person buff skill recharges. If you do this, the entire team will post crazy numbers above what they’d typically see.

Sorry dude but war is definitely not high skill ceiling. That is on the thief and engi. Warrior is too simplistic (as stated by bLind) to have a high skill ceiling. Please, don’t try to feed people the idea that warrior is high skill ceiling. Cause I’m pretty sure at this point that it’s the low skill ceiling that’s forced them out of the meta.

It shows only how low your skill ceiling. In gw1 and gw2 a like warrior was the shot caller of the party. Because they are form follows function and intuitive to use, it allowed those playing them to keep one eye on mini map, count opponents dodges and heals and best co-ordinate a team spike and when to instruct others to break off for rotations. In any organised, well established group there is always a shot caller who will monitor these aspects of where their opposition is at. It required intimate knowledge of builds and professions cool downs. Because warrior by nature was mobile and in the thick of it, it made them the ideal profession to assign for the duty.

However if all you do it occasionally take a warrior for a spin in hotjoin and the odd unranked match, and your only objective is damage,..then yes they will appear simplistic. Every other profession has too many cool downs and internal cool downs that needs to monitored and managed by the player. Warrior has 99% of the information you need on screen at all times..which again, is why they were typically assigned the role of shot caller. Only highly skilled players in organized competitive matches would play warrior because it allowed them to play 2 roles. One in the match, the other co-coordinating the match. They were an ideal designed profession for players who manage a team. Everything you need, on screen, at all times. If your not using your warrior in this capacity, it is the player who has set the bar low for themselves.

I think people are confusing PVP feedback for PVE.
All the complaints are about pvp.

Warriors do excellent damage and bring great utility. Which is all you need in PVE. Where warriors run into problems in PVP, is trying to stay alive long enough to use all that dps. This is a non issue in PVE where the dodge button and whirl wind are enough to keep you up.

warrior bring no utility. Banners bring utility. If the warrior doesn’t bring those, they do not naturally bring any else of notable exception. EA is helpful, but wasted on a boss like arch diviner where most of your team is over 600 units away. PS stacks might, but if your in the ranged vale guard party, you won’t stack anything. If you use any other weapon outside of GS, you wont stack anything. They bring no defense, no buffs, no enemy debuffs. They provide no aura’s, they provide no group cleanse, they provide no group heal, they provide no group stealth, they provide no group stability, no reflects, no,..no,…no.. I enjoy warrior as much as the next guy and lvl’ed mine to 500 crafting in many areas. all ascended, legendary etc because i felt they were the most secure profession to heavily invest in…i was wrong. They have been buffed/nerfed/over nerfed so many times they have become of the top 3 most blue chip professions to invest in.
many players have rose tinted glasses with warrior. It is not until they play a number of other professions now that they begin to realise that warrior developed is under performing. Pretty much every profession has moved well beyond them in terms of how much they can bring to the table.

I have seen selected pieces of armour I have enjoyed, but never bought them. Why?..because they are an outfit that can’t be mixed and matched.

I am confident I am not the only one who feels this way. I don’t mind spending money on things I like. It is nice to have nice things so-to-speak.

Hope this feedback helps. I’d rather buy an arnour appearance set that can be mixed and matched for 700 gem, rather an outfit, 5 dyes I already have and a glider appearance I don’t care about for 2000 gems.

I remember Devs happily playing war, and doing wvw on War back when they got buffed to Godmode however long ago. Remember when War was godmode and stayed that way for a long long time? Yeah.

They stayed strong for quarter as long as what D/D celestial ele remained apex predator. Even when warrior was in its prime, you didn’t see any ESL finals team run 3+ of them. Talking about the past is not evidence enough to justify their performance currently.

Every meta is the worst meta because every meta a new profession is risen to the top, and 2 are dropped to the worst possible states they could be left in. With each new occurring meta more passive immunity, more invulnerability become ever more present. In each meta professions lack overall balance and are never on a even playing field.

That is why every meta is the worst meta. There has never been a good meta. Too much always remains out of balance, outta wack or just plain unsporting. It is the reason the PvP community never grows, the reason esports has never really attracted the numbers other esports has and why the forums are in a perpetual state of complaint.

If you asked each PvP’er to rate the PvP in game out of 5, well..how many lack luster reviews does it take before it is realised the product is not in it’s optional state and needs a firmer direction and balance.

I, myself don’t care anymore because PvP since day one has had more overwhelming issues than positives. For me it is just a fast way to achieve daily and get back out again.

To be honest, you can’t fully grasp how rock bottom things have got for warrior until you elite specc’ed ;
1) your guardian
2) your ranger
3) your warrior
4) Your thief
5) Your rev
6) Your engi
7) Your necro

After that it becomes entirely clear not only did warrior get the short end of the stick, but what they did get is lacking in imagination, ignored all better advice from the beta weekend feedback and has left them in a worse spot than before HoT.

To be honest, I have no faith in warrior being repaired. Some time ago anet asked players what 3 professions needed the most help. Players stated ele-warrior-ranger as their top choices. Each profession got stronger, apart from warrior. Strangely it got nerfed to worse than what it was.

Not to be a party pooper, but its the perplexity runes and not the warrior itself. Many professions could perform the same way, but do it from range, or with faster cool downs, or even just have a mix of ranged and melee. My ranger with selected pets can do the exact same thing, but from range and kite for days. The ranger, particularly with druid line just has so many more interrupts at their disposal.
It’s good to see your enjoying it, but minus the perplex runes and it’s a subpar condition build. Its the runes that make it strong, not the warrior or the build itself.

It breaks down like this;
Hotjoined is abused and manipulated.
SoloQ- Had numerous leavers and 4 vs 5 matches.
Unranked now has pre-made vs PuG
Ranked has terrible MMR.

Every facet of PvP has major issues. It has had issues since day one. All the issues people complain about are still present today apart from 4 vs 5 starts.

Einstein said something about, “…Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is…?…”

A fair and reasonable amount of time has past to resolve these issues, yet the current big thing they are tackling is overt animations in tournaments. They want to focus on skills communicating, but not over communicating.

If you’re unhappy with that, then PvP in this game is currently not for you. Try again in 2017, but as of now..all the things you hate will remain unchanged.
