Edge of the Mists- Best Update Ever??!

Best update ever? Please, explain why.

1) It’s a new map
2) It brings new Pve contend and PvP content, not that I like the boring idea of killing mobs but it should please both comunities.
3) For the first week or so PvErs will give us WvWers a bunch of free lootbags
4) It’s maybe a start in the right direction, less Pve and more Pvp content !!11!!

When you talk about WvW, you talk about PvE people most of the time. WvW is nothing like tPvP – 1) You are required to level your character first and acquire the gear, through PvE obviously; hence, it makes pretty much any WvW player a PvE player at the same time.
If you want to experience something in GW2 that requires skill, go and play real PvP, i.e. tPvP. Get a team, play tournaments, get better.
Don’t try to sell me the bullkitten that WvW is anything like real PvP, ‘cos it’s just a PvE community that goes WvW for sheer destruction, nothing else.

Just like someone else suggested here, you seem new to the idea of PvP. The hardcore PvP players tend to focus on tPvP + they despise anything that includes traditional PvE only players.

I’m tired of this fake division between PvE, WvW, and PvP players. There are certainly some that only take part in one game mode, but that doesn’t make you better than anybody else.

The majority of players are going to take part in each game mode.

We’re all guild wars 2 players. Some “PvE players” have armor sets other than zerker, some “WvW players” have armor sets other than soldiers, and some “PvP players” have level 80 characters. Get over it.

Didn’t I say that? I actually pointed to the direction that WvW players are mostly PvE players, while the only truly separate group that’s not required to complete anything in PvE is tPvP players.

I couldn’t agree more with you.

i have got 2 questions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Corpus Christi.2057

Corpus Christi.2057

Well, Garambola may be right to some extent, nevertheless, a number in MMO games plays a vital role. What role?

1) Succesful and enjoyable WvW

2) Lots of guilds/people to team up with

3) Succesful PvE, i.e. Tequatl and Wurm events, also “exotic” world bosses done on daily basis

As with everything, there are also some drawbacks of large populations, e.g. queues on WvW, overflows at WBs etc. etc. Nevertheless, I do honestly believe that the advantages overwhelm the disadvantages, and I’m pretty sure lots of people would agree with me.

With regards to the most enjoyable EU servers, generally speaking, ( as understood above, advantages flowing from e.g. large population ), I’d recommend the following servers:

a) French speaking – Visunah Sq.

b) Spanish speaking – Baruch’s Bay

c) German speaking – Elona Reach

c) International – Desolation, Gandara, Aurora’s Glade

Best regards

Feb 4 Patch - EOTM

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Corpus Christi.2057

Exactly like I thought. Patch 1 2 and 3 will, despite being called “big patches”, still be regular LS patches maybe even smaller considering that they don’t add any features.

What a shame :/

How is adding a whole new map small?
A whole new map full with new features no less.

And what about the first patch that added two world bosses, both with completely new mechanics?

Unless anet comes up with a dozen maps and a few classes in EVERY patch, some people will never be content.

Funny you should say “EVERY patch” when something that big hasn’t happened since the day the game premiered. rofl

The first and the last thing to do about dailies is – 5 dailies max per account. You choose whichever 5 you want to do, the rest gets locked once you’ve done other 5.

You get a rewards chest once you’ve completed 5, but that doesn’t lock you out of getting achievement points for doing more than 5.

I clearly said what it should be like: once you do the 5, you are barred from doing the others. Getting all daily ap ( around 21 or so ) is a joke – people become just ignorant achievement hunters, which is something that should be prevented.

Probably something to do with the daft argument of “splitting the playerbase” , when the entire game biult around splitting up the playerbase between servers, map zones, guilds etc etc.

Possibly, but it’s an MMO game after all, it’s supposed to please different tastes. Hence, having both of them is a must, in my opinion, and invalidates the argument of “splitting the playerbase”.

Achievements for Limited Time Events ...

Corpus Christi.2057

I truly fail to understand the idea of an “achievement hound”. These kind of people usually tend to ruin the game, tbh.

You mean they ruin the game for you. I’m pretty sure that if you took all the achievement hounds out of the game, you’d have a severely diminished population. I think that might ruin the game for you even more.

I fail to understand min/maxers and speed runners, but what you can you do.

I fail to understand min/maxers and speed runners, too, but the achievement hounds are often the reason why many guilds fall apart ( numerous threads on reddit, gw2 forums, where people said those 17k ap people didn’t want to participate in guild missions, help with dungeon runs etc. ’cos they had to do all dailies, LS and so on, and so on ).

That’s the sad truth: once you remove all those game-ruiners from the game, the community gets so tiny it’s almost impossilbe to play.

PS We should be able to do only 5 daily ap. Once we’ve done them, we can’t do the rest of the daily ap pool we choose from.

I’m waiting… for april.

And in April you will be waiting for May and in May you will be waiting for June and in June you will be waiting for July and the list goes on an on.

I’m still waiting for all those promises in 2013 that never came to pass.

The problem is GW2 is that’s pretty much all we do these days – wait for things that never come and keep buying into every lie that Anet feeds us.

Quite frankly I’m of the opinion – I may be done waiting VERY soon. The game simply isn’t delivering on anything it promised and there are a lot of other viable options for gaming these days and coming out in the near future.

I don’t think any person of sound reason would wait over 2 years for anything to happen in GW2 that would change the end-game content of this game. There are plenty of games on the horizon that will take even more people from GW2 unless there’s de facto something expansion-quality-wise coming out in April.

We shall see soon enough.

[Interview] Living Story Plans Changing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Corpus Christi.2057

Corpus Christi.2057

I am amused by the constant comparisons to just one game, GW1, and the attempts to justify the glacial pace of actual new expansion content by pointing out all the things GW2 has to do that GW1 didn’t.

Compare it to a real MMO. Everquest 2 launched in 2005. It had underwater content, combat. Quite a lot of it actually. It had jumping and content that required it. 24 classes. Far more races. More dungeons, more quests, more overland area. Housing. Raids. Open instances. Open world bosses. Actual in-depth crafting. More graphics options. Flexible UI. Far more guild management tools. Mounts. World events. Seasonal Events. And with all of that, SOE has managed to release full boxed expansions on an average of once a year, and has expanded the “features” of that game with every single one of them.

That is what GW2 is going to have to do to have the longevity, in this genre, as the Everquest franchise has had, and continues to have. GW2 needs to step up to the plate to play in the big leagues.

In so many ways ANET has the potential to be a force in the MMO world for many years.. IF they take the changes they have made mechanics wise and then adapt and adopt what has been very successful for the industry as a whole as well.

Living World isn’t going to cut it. Not in the long run. It’s not new, only the pace is. I’ve done temporary “World Events” in Everquest 2 since it launched.. it is their name for it. It is something to do.. between new expansion content. Temporary content is no replacement for an expansions worth of permanent content, not there, and not here.

+1. At least, we can see that the devs realised the bi-weekly, poor quality-wise updates are not the way to go. So, I do still have some hope for this game. Otherwise, plenty of other games coming out in 2014-15 ( among them, EQ:N ).
