The problem with RTL was that ele had really high sustain to stick in a fight, then had mobility to get out then come right back.

They nerfed the sustain significantly, and eles mostly just melt, much faster than a real bunker: like guardian. After that, they nerfed the mobility too.

X/D ele can’t stick in the fight, and can’t get out, so they are just useless. This is why you see kamikaze burst eles see play: x/d can’t do anything else better than another class. Even general utility/support is better achieved with a guard or engie.

This won’t be fixed.

Tbh i don’t think a Rtl nerf revert would do much at this point. It’s the bigger picture that took the hit.

I really hope it’s not x% of people play class y when they’re deciding which professions are too strong as a whole. After all, eles have a popularity boost because of their flashy skills.

I suppose a similar system would a show some indications for which builds are OP/UP.

It’s all about game metrics. Everything you do in game is logged and tracked. That includes everything you aren’t doing, such as not using certain skills.

All that information can then be pulled into a variety of reports as needed. For example lets say they want to take a look at all the Elementalist Utility skills over the last 120 days. They might pull a report for Utility usage for all Elementalists 1-40, 41-79, and 80. This will list what utilities are equipped the most, how often they get used, what content they are used in (dungeon, fractal, farm pve, spvp, wvw, etc) and so on and so forth.

Based on this information they make an analysis. They see Conjures aren’t getting used much. So now they have to try to figure out why aren’t Conjures getting used. Is it because Cantrips are so strong that Cantrips feel inferior? Is it because Conjures are weaker than all the other options? I’m sure they have a discussion, pull more reports, and look at the data of what’s happening in game to start with a solid, factual base for a course of action.

At this point they decide on a course of action and test it out. For example in the upcoming patch they are going to buff up Conjures because they presumably found in their analysis that Conjures were weak and didn’t present a compelling reason to equip them other than LH or FGS. This is why you see a lot of forums are full of complaints about, “You buffed what? But no one uses that! Why are you buffing things no one uses!?!” and again it’s entirely based on usage data and them trying to drive skill usage.

So when they give a presentation and inform people that there is more than one attunement and using attunement swapping it’s likely because the metrics told them that a certain % of the player base sticks to one attunement. That’s what the game play is telling them we’re doing so that is what they react to. People tend to forget that the forums and people who visit the forums only reflect a small % of the over all user base so even if they are informed about the Elementalist it’s not representative of the whole (which is what the game devs are concerned about).

I don’t think that should be the price we pay. I also think we should have some type of ranged or melee option while focusing in one or the other. If you think differently, I can appreciate that.

I mean to address your extra skills thought… How’s it any different from an engineer kit. They’re permitted to swap in and out with no penalty. Their 1-5 is stronger and on a lower cooldown compared to our normal skills. I don’t address some of your points because they just aren’t applicable. It could work like a normal conjure or an engineer kit. Or better yet, just give us kitten kits. This was an idea to circumvent taking away from engineer uniqueness and curbing the literal and physical crap that is conjured weapons.

You may only play elementalist, but your posts don’t reflect it right now, especially if you think we aren’t underpowered in several regards. Including but not limited to range versatility, vulnerability to conditions, interrupts and build diversity.

I hope you realize I’m trying to figure out decent ways to BUFF ele, not suggest things that would keep us the same. Yes it would be a very powerful skill. That was the point. Jeez.

Alright, first off you got 2 sigils that share the same cooldown, other than written in stone your build gets nothing from being a signet build, an almost complete lack of condition removal other than cleansing wave on dagger. Your power is on the low end but this was caused by celestial which isn’t really worth it. Your vitality is also dangerously low, those 5 points in water seem very random would better end up to get fresh air considering you haven’t got it lingering either.

Blasting Staff is properly a mistake, Renewing Stamina or Windborne Dagger make far more sense here.

I don’t understand Zephyr’s Boon; with Arcane Fury you already have almost permanent Fury, Swiftness uptime is around 50% with Elemental Attunement alone. 10 points in Earth for Stone Splinters makes more sense for me.

Otherwise it’s a fairly standard build.

Blasting staff seemed like an accident to me, zephyrs boon is totally valid considering his low boon duration basically base after traits while also giving swiftness. Not to keen on the rune choice; totally oversaw that.

Too tanky, not enough damage, Vit is a bit on the redundant side aswell. Utilie selection could be better arcane wave over lightning flash for example which would be another condition cleanse as well as a gap closer or maker. I like to stay at least around 70%-80% crit damage with +25 modifier remaining fairly tanky and still deall great damage. ::EDIT Its WvW only right?

Timers would make it OP, Shorter timers would make it useless i could go very in depth as to why this suggestion is beyond realistic but judging by your post its not worth my time.

First of all, how would you drop it are the charges a bundle? What about the cooldown? Is it on a timer? 15 charges is a LOT. It just sounds very OP to me which quite frank it is. Even more blast finishers, even more CC, Even more heals. Even more combo fields. Have a nice day

Terrible idea, Fgs and lh are amazing as is, frost bow has its situationsl use aswell!! But fgs has a great place in WvW as for pve.though I would totally agree with 4 more F keys to switch what im attuned to on offhand!!

I see an obsidian flesh nerf before a Flamewall fix. And i hope to be proven wrong.

nerfing obsidian flesh would seriously destroy focus. its the single most reason focus is worth using, sometimes. it doesnt break stun, it doesnt remove condis through traits, it cant give you around 1k health(from regen) and vigor, i see no reason what so ever at ALL to nerf obsidian flesh. the only reason obsid flesh is better than mist form is because you can use skills while in it, shorter CD and a mere 1 second longer. a 1 second which can be negated through still being stunned while activating it. or 4 seconds negated.

Right you tell anet, hasn’t stopped them in the past from nerfing things without a decent reason: Anti-projectile is what makes focus strong not only obsidian flesh.

i have an incinerator, mainly because Dagger is used in most viable setups.

It’s fine, the imobilize did it’s job by the time you reach your opponent: the gap was filled and the attacker was lead of trail. The only problem i have with it is the self root at the end. Rubber-band-fly-guy-with-fire-shield-coming-in-hot. But i loved how the previous animation looked: this one is better though!! Obstructs and misses is usually the blame of the caster or lagg, yes the projectile is slow: adapt.

People say that this class/build is dead but I ran into a D/D ele today in WvW and she flat out destroyed me and 2 other players. This was on my Warrior, Thief and Mesmer. I was simply amazed on how skilled of a player she was.

Elementalist wasn’t nerfed as hard in WvW as it was in Spvp, it’s still a very strong skirmisher in WvW. Though most people on the ele boards seem clueless somewhat made me wonder what took the fantasy out of these people was it perhaps the industrial revolution?

To be honest ice never really felt that Ele was kitten but then I’ve never played eek quite the sane way as I have other classes so I cannot make a good comparison. I keep reading that zerk warriors can do much more dmg than a comparable Ele. My eek can hit for over 5k and I’m not running zerk, what is it a warrior can do that so badly dwarfs that?

well, try this; a warrior hit 43k damage with One Hundred Blades on CoF first boss, thats at lvl 75, one skill, if by any chance you can top that with only one skill, on about the same cooldown, please show us. Heck, even Meteor shower on 3 times the CD cant hit that hard even if most of the meteors landed…

Way too tanky for pve, mediocre for WvW. Yes it “works” but at the cost of inefficiency.

Next time you open the instance, lead by example and show the true colors.

PVE – Zerk/scholars d/d or d/f Dungeons – zerk/scholars D/F or D/D – WvW 6 slots armor PVT/boondur rest zerk D/F preffered over D/D for the 1vX and fgs as second fall back if necessary (viable for roaming, many other setups very possible up to you, just what i prefer eh) For jewelry i prefer the ascended Wannabe berserker that cuts a small amount of precision for a small amount of vitality. Pvt is by no means the best armor for eles, also i’d advice obtaining through dungeons such as AC. I only roam in WvW if you’re into zerging i suppose full zerk staff is the way to go, hope it was any helpful.

Churning earth is like ether renewal, it turns the caster in a DPS meter.

The only thing those “fire shields” are going to do is protect you from the flame you’re about to receive, and if you’re lucky it may even net you some might!

Zephyrs boon, soothing disruption, renewing stamina: boon durations nerfed most even cut by 50% Pretty much everything covered here if i recall correctly.

I’m probably the only one who is fine with how the focus currently works (before Anet totally breaks it) OT: sounds like a very powerfull buff one that isn’t likely to be implemented, but in a way it makes sense. But then again thieves shouldnt be a problem if you play Focus.

I’m not gonna ask for buffs, but please stay away with the nerfs. The point you’re making has been made before. I don’t know wether i agree though…. Don’t think Anet cares though they’re too busy buffing warriors.

Stopped watching when i saw rtl to updraft.

I see terrible suggestions, the range nerf was already enough of a punishment, making it 900 range will destroy the entire skill, remember you still have to hit your target. Opening with rtl isn’t wise anyway. Imo revert back to 15 seconds 12 seconds traited or leave as is. And c’mon man a cripple... Get real. For 5 extra seconds cooldown.
Thats almost a savage leap. Regardless of wether you use the skill the way it was intended or not your suggestion helps neither side of the story.
