No one is running dungeons anymore as it is, getting hard as heck to find groups. Its not like they are listening to us anyways, everything from the dungeon design to the reward system has been designed by some disconnected person working at anet. My only guess is he works in the basement and does not get enough social contact with other human beings so that he can understand designing a retributive retroactive rewards system is not the best of ideas.
I am just saying they are so far off course with this stuff….its crazy. Hey maybe its a BUG and not a PUNISHMENT…..but what I have read from the red posters makes it seem like they actually went back in time to “get” those people who ran the dungeons. Think of what else they did that fits this mentality, they made CM story a nightmare to run….just sprinkled awful mobs all over the place, they hastily threw in the rewards patch and buffed dungeons without proper testing.
The case can certainly be made that they were reacting with a mindset of vengeance against people just playing their game the way they designed it. We are not even talking about glitches. So the retroactive retributive reward system in this context actually fits.

My experience for going on 7 days since the patch is to be rewarded the absolute minimal amount of money and rewards for doing dungeons…everytime. Apparently if you had ran dungeons at a high rate what 2 weeks ago? A month? The system has been designed to punish anyone running dungeons that long ago.
Words can’t express really how I feel, this is a new low for gaming standards. Anet who exactly do you have “coming up” with these ideas? The fact you thought up and programmed and implemented a diminishing returns system to retroactively punish people for playing your game the way YOU designed it is beyond unprincipled.
Let me remind you, that NO ONE exploited, certainly not me. I played the content you provided, killing ALL the mobs, just as I was supposed to. And now I am to assume that forever I suppose I will get diminished returns? Why should any of us who are going to get the minimal reward from now until eternity continue to play? How is it remotely reasonable to punish people retroactively with a new diminished returns system?
I mean no reasonable person would ever expect that this new system would not start fresh upon completion….but that was not good enough, you had someone with a vindictative nature who wanted to go back and “punish” players who did absolutely nothing wrong. So you code it where it goes back and checks people dungeon completion from BEFORE implementation. And then we get screwed in a new system you just made.

I have been ripped off over 1 gold in rewards, been trying for days to get last piece of exotic gear, to say I am fed up with this problem. Bugs are one thing, but your attitude and approach to your gamers is quite another thing entirely. Its disrespectful and plain atrocious, I have never seen any MMO company do this before. I would have though it unthinkable.
But really its par for the course….you guys are dirt in my books as a gaming company. I can forgive bugs but not intentional attempts to retroactively punish people with a newly implemented system In third world countries and dictatorships it would be akin to passing a new law and going back in the past and finding violators of that law.

Not working I have yet to get a full reward since you put in that broken diminishing returns system. No matter what I run I never get full credit….everyone else does…isnt that great? This is bad, honestly after this patch you dont deserve customers anymore. Get rid of diminshing returns you are not capable of making it work right, I cant even run dungeons at all, I dont get any money or rewards for completing.
You will learn eventually….when your servers empty out…don’t listen to us thats fine.
I would like to know what is going on, I am NEVER getting anythign remotely close to full reward EVER. Just got 13 silver for CM explore. Figured I would log in and see if they fixed anything. Once again everyone in my group got full amount and I got 13 silver.
I have been robbed over 1 gold already in lost rewards. Words cannot express my disgust right now. If it did not happen EVERY time…why am I being singled out? Every time I get robbed….this is like my 4th or 5th time already.
Thats ok when your servers are empty then maybe you will get rid of diminishing returns. I already know I will never get reimbursed. I wrote a ticket every time, and I got not even a response. Sick of it. EVERY TIME!!!

Being insta killed or killed in 2 seconds sucks. I also have bosses who hit me for 1/2 my life with a KD and then with that atttack they applied a few DoTs. While on the ground from the one attack that hit me for 1/2 my life I lose remaining life practically…I might have a sliver of life left and the remnants of a few Dots….that aint a one shot but what is it? Its not fun. Especially for a character who invested in toughness and vitality.
If they want to implement a “adjustable rewards system” paths that never get played should increase in reward on a % basis. Thats the easiest way to make it worth people’s time.
iwarden is a nice phantasm he has limitations, personally I like where its at. Mobility issues and the stuff you mentioned balance him out.
Yeah I know I get tired of all the krappy players. You know who is the most scary classes on the opposign team when I play? The classes the good players are playing. And I can figure out who they are pretty fast, I have had almost every class be a severe pain at some point. For me warriors and thieves are like the worst, good ranger can suck too. Seen engis that were unkillable, guardians too.
Its getting comical, I am hoping we will not see the wow nerf merry-go-round in GW2.
Dude I agree completely. When I fight someone who knows how to handle a mesmer, its pretty awful. A mesmer who is CCed, and targeted it even by one player is really not avle to do much. The only way a mesmer can do damage and kill is by having illusions up and DPSing on the slide.
Anet could very easily break mesmers by listening to some of these ridiculous complaints. Makes me mad, some of the classes that complain can do some outrageous things themselves. They just don’t like getting out played. I have seen.
I imagine dungeon rewards will be better, as in fixed. Let us hope. Of course the dungeons themselves will still be a pain to run. They could reward people less if the dungeons had more of a fun value.
Since that patch no one is LFG for dungeons. Itsmuch much harder to find anyone to run them. A solo game won’t last long, the zones are boring to do solo. The zerg events are weak. For some reason a lot of gaming companies are hailing zerg zone vents as the second coming of Jesus. They want to believe you can just randomly spawn so boss mob with high HPs in a zone and that will be all the content you will ever need.
These zerg events have a very poor value. I don’t dislike them, but they add very little to gameplay. It looks like Anet said the heck with dungeon design, we hate it, its hard to balance and takes time to get it right, all we need are these zerg events. We wont even have to have tanks and healers, we can get rid of those, and we can still say we have dungeon content even though its a zerg and spawn fest.
Anet convinced itself it could do basically nothing as far as balance and tweaking all the intracies. The last patch was designed to get all those stupid people out of the dungeons and enjoying those lovely zerg zone events. After all what is wrong with us? Dont we know what fun is? Anet needs to get rid of some people in their design department.

Yep noticed same thing I refuse to run CM story. Its not even super hard, its a lot longer with the extra mobs, but it has more cheesy ways to get insta gibbed and CCed. Especially all the interrupts and knockdowns. So annoying, get chain knocked down and killed. Nothing more frustrating.
Just to let you know I ran CM explore 3 times since patch. First time I got 2 silver! two days later I ran it first time got 6 silver! Then second time 2 silver!
I should have at least 72 silver from all of that and I only got 10 silver….really? Ripped off 62 silver, and I get ripped off EVERYTIME I run the dungeon. This is crazy.
What is this? Why do I everytime get so little reward? Ran it once earlier this week(post patch of course) and got like 2 silver. Ran it today twice six silver the first time and 2 the next.
What is this? Sick of it. I have been cheated like a ton of silver, trying to get last exotic piece and tired of everyone else getting 26 silver and me only 2? I do most of the work pull the group through the dungeon and get that kind of reward? Do us all a favour and scrap the diminishing returns…wth? Just make it give 20 silver every time, you cant speed run CM explore mode as far as I can tell. This is getting absurd.

Same problem I can’t find anyone running dungeons, sick of teleporting and it costing me tons of silver to only here crickets in the zones I go where the dungeons are. Man they totally ruined this game with one patch. No more dungeons at all. All we got left is boring solo play or rift zerg events.
Don’t matter now no one running dungeons whatsoever now. So nothign to complain about anymore except complete lack of 5 man content.

no its a legit complaint. Some of the bosses have unreasonable amounts of HP. Its almost comical. You know when you are at that point where everyone knows the boss is going to die, they have it figured out, hes not killing anyone, and everyone is unloading on him. But the dude has an obscene amount of HPs. So you are there like 10 minutes just blasting him.
Sadly I have almost gotten used to it. But I am not sure what all those HPs really add to the encounter, they seem excessive and really really forced.
Now no one is running CM at all hardly. Cant find a group. It used to be I would go into overflow everytime. Not anymore. Can’t get a group, cant even run dungeons. Maybe everyone has moved elsewhere. I don’t know.
I know this sucks really bad. Why in world Anet? What were you thinking? You can’t afford to have everyone just up and quit like that. Had you just been reasonable and listened to what people were saying.
Anet has hardly any time to get fix on this issue. They needed the dungeons to be in semi working order this weekend. If you ask me they cant afford to have the dungeons in this state this weekend. The amount of people that dropped off playing has been huge. The day before this patch it was pretty awesome. There were people playing.
I don’t think they just went somewhere else. I think they left. Or quit playing. Anet you need to show comittment to making these dungeons fun and a way to progress your character. You should not feel like you are getting punished for playing dungeons in lieu of just doing open world zergs and zone stuff.
I will give you my personal take on the patch. It seemed so out of touch with the state of the game, it seemed bizarre in its severity and complete lack of understanding of basic MMO dungeon design. It seems like you have a harcore group of very self assured individuals pushing a dungeon design that is completely horrid, they are focused in on a numbers driven statistical analysis which is not ever gonna translate into fun dungeons.
It makes it seem like you guys are hopeless, like there is no hope you can get anything in there worth even bother to load the game up to do. I honestly think this, I am a diehard 5 man group player, you have some great potential here, good artwork, lovely animations, good items, just wow get it together with the dungeon design.
Its like watching someone wreck themselves or sabotage their own game.

Not even true mesmers dont have the best escape from downed. Thieves get the same thing and then they can escape again. They get two escapes from downed. Mesmers get one same as most of the classes. If you cant see the mesmer I don’t know what to say? I mean you just dont understand it.
Mesmer is downed, he just teleports a few feet away…is that really so hard? I kill memsers all day long. Down them do the finish move wait for them to teleport, look around there are like 5 feet away. Go and finish them.

Nope that is not possible, I have a significant amount of toughness and vitality both in traits and items. I get one and two shotted on bosses depending on which encounter it is. The golem in CM story is the biggest offender. He one shots anything without warning.
The snipers can take you down in half a second. I have a very strong defensive build on my mesmer. I die much less than some people, because I do know how to play, but still its there. And not only one shotting, just getting burst down in a second or two…..almost no difference.
Trash mobs taking you from 100 to 0 in under 2 seconds is kinda bad too. And it depends on the dungeon. Like I did CM explore today. Was one guy with a shotgun blasting people dead like mad. One shotting? Looked like it. I would get 2 shotted by it easily if it crit right. I did get chain KD’d from 100 to 0% by this boss mob.
Got hit once, and lost control till death from boss mob. This stuff is all in this game.
I had someone from China try to log into my acount, the authorization email tipped me off I change password. Kinda worries me, I wish we could just tag our accounts as NEVER TO BE ACCESSED FROM CHINA….NEVER!!!
I mean I will never be in China and play GW2, this I can swear to you. So if someone is logging in from China just block em everytime.

yeah very nice, yeah I can relate. After being evicerated, blown up, beheaded and humilated by trash mobs….I do kind get this feeling. And when I finally make it to the end having suffered many humiliating deaths and feeling generally like a tic on the butt of one of those bandits could out DPS me…I dont feel so triumphant….not so much.
I dont agree that MOA is strong. I think it sucks as a skill. It seems OP when it lands on you, but its not even a guaranteed kill. It basically shuts down your skills for 10 seconds. And it is on a long timer, and its hard to land it on the person you want to. it tends to get me killed really.
Id rather drop the mesmer haste thing. Much more useful imo. They could remove MOA for all I care.
Dude, yeah the dungeons are not fun at all. They are hard as in hard to suffer through. They have the worst mechanics for making them difficult, and it involves dying and zerging a lot of the times. I got to say I almost feel like if I get one shotted or CCed till dead again I will chuck my monitor acorss the room. That is NOT fun.
Hard does not have to be not fun. Challenging and fun often go together quite well….but in any case the main thing is it be fun to do, not so much hardcore. Lay off the hardcore and make sure its fun to do.
Yeah I agree, if they must be there…especially used as much as they are, they should be EASY to recognize. I’d rather they quit relying on one shotting and 2 shotting for making dungeons difficult.
mesmer pets are supposed to be DoTs..but if that is the case then ranger pets also need to despawn. And bleeds and DoTs need to insta poof when someone goes into a downed state.
Its not the advantage you seem to think it is.
I dont even agree though…I think one shotting should be extremely rare and reserved for only godly boss mobs. Because it totally negates vitality and toughness when it happens, It negates any defensive talents or skills….it negates the entire concept of having a HP bar.
So I really frown upon the use of one shotting at all. It should really be for godly like mobs.
Yeah my sole reason for getting this game was hoping there would be good 5 man content in it. GW1 was really good with that. I have been massively dissapointed. I realyl could care less about running around in the open world zones picking up pumpkins for farmer Jones. Or the zerg events, where you just race in and mash buttons trying to tag as much as you can to get the gold medal.
I PVP very very moderately. But its more of a sideshow for me. So GW2 is kinda a broken game for me in its current state. They need to change their design philopsophy, and that is why I dont even think it will get better.
I dont even care about MOA, I stopped using it. Longish cast time and you have to stand completely still. Almost a death sentence in most PVP situations.
yeah the mantras are currently pointless. I messed around with them and hated the gameplay and how they just flat out sucked. The cast times are atrocious on most of them.
Yeah they nerfed difficulty AND reward. Should have just nerfed the reward. And that would have been fine. I won’t run CM story mode on account of how annoying it is that everything knocks me down over and over. Annoying.
Yeah its the same as being one shotted. You get hit once and lose all control over your character until death. This is bad gameplay. If we have HP bars it should be used for something.
Yeah the one shotting, or 2 shotting is bad gameplay. If everyone will notice that they purposely made it so one shotting is not happening PVP. My guess is they took a design philosophy that one shotting is bad and removes tactical gameplay from PVP.
Apparently they could give a krap about PVE dungeons. I don’t know how else to understand this. The boss mobs do have like 50% more HP than necessary. And what really made me mad today is one boss kept resetting, and healing to 100% health. Heck he wasnt even far from his spawn point.
Apparently not, I actually enjoy dungeon content. Its my preferred playstyle. They have actually made it so undesirable to run I feel forced to do something else. Its amazing, why does Anet have it in for 5 man group content? What do they have against it? Everything else gets rewarded, and is enjoyable. The 5 man content is pointless. And so many people enjoy playing 5 mans.
They honestly need to fire whoever is in charge of 5 man content, get something in the game that is playable and enjoyable. And something that has a chance of rewarding those playing. Heck I would just run the dungeons for money as a reward, I like to play like that. But the dungeons are a pain with zero reward.
I ran CM explore mode, after 1 1/2 hours at LEAST, I got 44k xp and 6 silver. Repair bill was close to 8 silver total. I really don’t know, its like Anet is determined to commit suicide here. Maybe because this is an Asian based MMO. It will be the last I buy I can tell you that much.
Mesmers are just not understood at the moment. They have been given real funky game mechanics, and its hard to master….so likewise someone who wants to play a charge right in melee is not gonna have clue what is going on.
The mesmer does not have anything special really, clones and teleports are what give people fits. You have to just Cntrl+T the mesmer and deal with him. I don’t have any problems with mesmers when I fight them. I know what they are doing, and what they can do. So I can anticipate and prepare. The problem people are having with mesmers is they don’t even know what they do, or how they do it.
Some of these complaints are outright ridiculous.
Most of the complaints definitely come from not understanding what the mesmer is doing. Its a hard class to play, its odd in its mechanics, and so people who have never played one don’t really know what the mesmer is up to. I don’t do tons of DPS, the best thing I have going for me is the clones. But when someone comes after me who is smart about avoiding clones its always a tough fight.
I usually destory the other mesmers I meet, I know what they can do. I dont chase their clones, I know when they get low on health they more than likely will stealth and run and hide. So I go where I would go if I were close to dead. They are most likely there. And easy to kill. In any case, the only class right now I don’t really fear too much are necros…but I think I have not come across a well played one. Also Guardians, they are usually defensive built so they don’t worry me too much.
The worst are warriors, and rangers, if they are really offensive speced. If they are stupid and kill my clones, they are not really a bother. I don’t feel terribly overpowered I feel like mesmers are terribly not understood. Once mesmers tricks become old hat, things will change pretty quickly. Right now mesmers are a good noob killer.
Its not just the removal of the much maligned holy trinity its the total removal of the strategic element. I knew this would happen when they announced they were getting rid of classes as roles. Certainly makes for bland gameplay when no one can specialize or we can’t even organize a battle whatsoever. Geez everything has units and specialized roles, anything with any kind of strategic depth to it at all.
Football, has line backers who hold the line, with running backs, and fast recievers, then you have the tightend who can block or run out for a pass. You have the quarterback, kickers, special teams….and a ton of plays. Without all of this football would flat out suck to watch.
Anet just removed most all of that from their MMO. I mean really? Why would you? Makes no sense.
Yeah man, I am sure it will be crickets for grouping now. So I guess that solved the farming issue lol. Good riddens to all those players! I may try borderlands 2, seems a bit pricey and I just dropped 60 bucks +20 in the gem store on this game.

You are assuming that they have no minds of their own. If they agree with some complaints, then that likely means they felt it wasn’t in accordance with their design philosophy. It’s not like they are buckling under pressure with the sales they are getting.
Sales figures can change, and if they ruin their reputation its not so easy to just get that back. They had a lot of gamer respect from GW1, that helped GW2 get a lot of hype. When they want to sell us an xpac or another game entirely they may wish they had not squandered the respect of their playerbase so much.
All they might be left with is their internal design philopsophy. But it does not take a genius to figure out that it needs to correspond to the desires of its gaming community. Personally I don’t care if gaming companies like Blizzard and Anet die off, maybe they have become to overconfident and smug and need to be taken down a few notches.
Hell Atari is garbage, they were once the best, Sierra was a big game maker at one time, they are basically gone, even ID software used to be untouchable now they are no longer in the position they once were. If you start to blow off your players in lieu of some arrogant internal developers, you might find yourself isolated eventually. There are a lot of deserving hungry indy and small studios out there who would really appreciate some support and a gaming community. Maybe if some of these bigger companies who have lost touch die off we will get some innovation and more responsive game developers.
