This promises to be an entertaining matchup (please refer to picture).
To their credit they did eventually notice (after having chased us from the south camp, round the ruins and all the way to bay NW gate) and managed to stop our commander in the lords room.. but none the less it all worked very nicely because as they did that, TEO broke through both bay gates completely unchallenge. The blob returned to bay, we went back to hills to find both the outer and inner were at <20% – free cap time!
The moral of the story of course being a blob, however big, can only do one thing at a time.

^ It’s no real surprise that a warrior + thief can beat a single unsuspecting victim. Frankly if you go 2v1 with any classes against any class and lose, you should be embarrased.
What a thief really needs in a partner is someone who can draw agro from multiple people, survive that and preferable CC them for the thief to have free reign.
I dont play my thief really ever, but on my ranger I think I’d least like to meet a mesmer + thief or thief + thief.

I think its been a pretty good matchup.. And the scores reflect that. Until Tuesday night I’d have said any of the servers could still have won, and even now GH arent insanely far ahead and FR and UW are more or less exactly the same.

Norn and Char are too obvious. Warrior are the hammer smash class, being a big chara is just too cliche.
Then theres asura which is the opposite.. its such a mismatch from the class that it becomes the obvious choice for people who want to be different, thus making it not different at all.
Humans are always boring just because.. human. Who plays a fantasy game to be human I mean srsly.

I’d disagree with the above, the “tradition” rabid trapper still works fantastically. I’ve played it for weeks and just this evening raoming in WvW I’ve won multiple 2v1s, nearly won a 3v1 and not lost a single 1v1. OK maybe you dont come across the best players in the game whilst roaming in WvW, but none the less the build can work nicely.
That said I’m interested abotu this celestial build.. When I first started making a trap build I did mix in celestial ascended trinkets but moved away from it because at the the time there was no celestial armour and with just a few trinkets it made no real difference to my direct damage… Maybe I should go try it again.

Lion and escpecially Kelly are also known for being trolly so its best to ignore them as well if they get on your nerves.

Had a fun evening yesterday, I think the highlights for me where attacking the FR bay. Had a great battle in the lords room before being wiped the first time, but then came back later with moaaar people and, after another great battle, we managed to take it

I play traps at the moment and have no real complaints. I win most 1v1s (stuggling most against good memsers) and I do feel at least a bit useful in zerg battles too.
I use what I think is a fairly standard build:
10/30/30/0/0 full rabid.
I like SB + Axe/Dagger (dagger for roaming, warhorn for running with my guild) but any combination of sword/dagger/axe/torch/warhorn/SB can work fine.

As far as GC builds go this looks fairly brutal. I understand why you chose Moa but for me, wolf is forever #1 support pet.

Note that Nuka is using Dwayna runes, not Forge like you’ve got on your build Anti.
Without Dwayna I dont think healing power is going to do much for you since you wont much much regen uptime anyway.

You could try a LB or SB… that way you dont have to stand in his AoE and get burnt to a crisp.
As far as DPSing him with a sword goes though.. I’d have thought RaO is better, or at least activate the seed turrets before going up and attacking him, dont bother with the torch offhand since you do no condition damage and its a waste of time you could be using to sword smack him, and maybe use SoW as well.
It may also be worth openning with GS #3 #2 then changing to sword.

Although without wanting to feed the fire.. when we golem rushed FR last night it was not just mindless lolgolems for the sake of it.. we did actually send over half our group to attack Garison and then had the golems sneak take bay in the meantime. It worked perfectly and only 4-5 defenders got to bay before it fell. Maybe if they’d scouted better they wouldnt have fallen so perfectly for it.
And then after that when we took garison we cleared at least 15 AC, 5 trebs, half a dozen balistas and some catapults from the walls, and the garison still had full supply. Why exactly would we want to fight for the better part of 3 hours to wear down a T3 keep thats been seiged to all hell when we could just take it in 10 mins?
I can understand its frustrating to lose a keep like that, we’ve all been there, but it doesnt change the fact that if you had more roamers and scouts you’d see it coming and could bring people to defend, especially since GH have a reputation to golem rushing every night… why do you still not see it coming?!

There is nowhere else to dual.
Private PvP servers are the only other choice, but anyone whos spent some time in both WvW and PvP will tell you its considerably different given the reduced stats, lack of food and some altered traits in PvP.
I can understand some frustration about it being done on a large scale if there are queues in the BL, but for the most part theres no more than 5-6 people dualing and the BL is empty anyway so… why care?

A bit offtopic but Estarioll on your first build, you’d be better off having berserker trinkets and knights armour than berserker armour and knights trinkets.

As a point, I did this with my Apothecary armour (dwayna runes) and rabid trinkets. Made it much easier to survive her general attacks in both stages and I did just about have the dps to kill her in time.

I like the idea of having them be female.. its a bit different and fits with the fact they are defending the Queen and the whole backstory behind her.
Making them so obviously modeled on naked women was a bit unnessesary though.

But in all seriousness, this has been suggested 100 times over. Let me give you a summary of how this thread will go:
Half the people with love the idea because they see rangers in terms of army rangers or RANGErs.
Half the people will hate the idea because they see rangers as masters of nature and therefore using a mechanical weapon is stupid.
This thread will then progress to people suggesting other weapons they want such as a melee staff or mainhand dagger before finall someone points out that ANet plans in time to give all weapons to all classes.

Bursting might be one way.. I did it though using a regen build. That allowed me to not have to worry much about being hit, which in turn meant I didnt use my evades to dodge but could use them to beat the dog to the food. Other than that I just stayed close to the Norn and ran the second he threw the food.
Maybe I was just lucky he never threw it straight under the dog, but thats who I managed it.
Oh, and I killed the Norn first (using SB condition build) inbetween waiting for him to throw.
Didnt really use a pet because I had bears active when I arrived at the arena, soon realised in most of the fights they were useless and I didnt actually need them anyway, so I just have a bear lol’ing about doing whatever it is bears do.

Enjoying this matchup so far Tonight was a bit rough.. we seemed to struggle to have the numbers we’ve had the last 2 nights and UW were just far too many in most places or our group to deal with.
Did our best through and there were so good moments I do hope though either your numbers drop down or ours pick back up, because it was really quite even on Friday and Saturday, but today.. not so much :O

Its laughable if you’re running a condition/BM ranger setup (which is pretty common) because neither condition damage nor pet damage show up. You read through the log and all you see is your attacks hitting like 200 damage.

I agree with the poster above, this would just make people turtle more.
At the moment, even if you are outnumbered in an open battle, you can at least just give it a try and if you do get roflstomped theres no real consiquence, but if you are going to be giving away points by dying people will just run from battles where they dont outnumber their opponents which is rubbish.
They should be encouraging people to come out and fight, and to do that BOTH sides needs an incentive to come and fight, not 1 side being encouraged to fight and 1 encouraged to turtle.

Interesting video, I can only conclude theres a difference in WvW and sPvP, because no vines even appeared when you used it when he was stealthed which in WvW they would have, and like I said I’ve caught many people in stealth just fine.

But seriously, warriors are one of the classes I look at and just see easy kills. The only warrior whos given me serious trouble consistantly was a berserker rifle warriors, because he simply outhit me at range and kiting obviously was of no use.

I still use and love my SB. Its still ideal for skirmishing in a condition build. Axe+Dagger are my alt set and are great for applying lots of conditions quickly, but lack the constant and mobile flare of the SB.

Entangle hits and effects stealth players exactly the same. I use it fairly often to hit stealth players.
Its just a common problem with Entangle that people with condition cleanse or reduction just walk straight out.

I’d love a new mainhand. I cant say I really like either of our current options (I’m not saying they are bad, I have used both extensively and still do because I know they’re good, I just dont really like how either of them plays).
Axe is just so… meh. Ranged but needs to be in melee range to be good and auto is annoying bad except for spam tagging. Sword #2 and #3 and pretty fun but I just cant get over the #1 no matter what how I look at it.

Rangers are hard to finish underwater. Whenever I am solo roaming in borderlands and get into trouble the #1 safe zone I will head to is the water in the middle because I know its safe there unless seriously outnumbers/surrounded.
It used to be better when LR was bugged and we could zoom along like 3000 range with it.. but still, even without that water is always good

Without WBC you’ll instantly see a big change in WSR. Not only are they one of the 2 main guilds but they also contain a disproportionately large number of the WSR commanders who will no longer be around.
Honestly I wouldnt bet on us being able to beat FoW by that much when their gone.

Probably a standard regen bunker with S/D + GS would be the best surviver a ranger could perform. Then take utilities like protect me and LR to finish it off.
Not sure you’d be of any use though, since rangers are no especially good at buffing themselves or others.

TBH the whole idea of people denying stomps when they have absolutely no chance of rallying annoys me.
Sure, if you’re in a group fight and you go down then do everything you can to stay alive, but if you are solo roaming around, you get killed, just be a man and let yourself be stomped because you’re just wasting your time and theirs by delaying the inevitable.
If ever people do do that to me in a 1v1 I usually let them res back up to nearly full and just keep tagging them till they realise I am not going to let them res or kill them. Then they know whakittens like to have your time wasted for no good reason.
But I digress…. Yeah Mistform shouldnt count at rallying and they shouldnt be able to go into towers in mistform either. Just means ele next to a tower is very almost immortal.

I think Anet have made it perfectly clear that pets will never be what they could/should be.
They wont add more control over them because thats too hard for casual players to do.
They dont want them having extreme damage – they already nerfed it when it wasnt that high to start with.
They have “improved” the AI multiple times but almost no difference has actually been seen in pet behaviour.
Just give up hoping, it will be less stressful that way.

I solo roam a fair bit and nearly never run head on into a group I cant handle.
Its not as if you cant see people a looong way off, long before they are any danger to you. As long as you’re observant and actually know what you’re doing you dont need stealth, just some half decent movement speed and you’ll be fine.

The marksmanship traitline always bugged me because theres so many traits you might want all for the same build. I mean if you want to do a berserker signet LB/GS build, which seems like a very natural mix too me, you’re essentially screwed because you need 2 adept traits, 3 master and 2 GM.
Personally I dont think Remorsless is worth it still unless you’re using the stealth as soon as it comes off CD, which I wouldnt be in more cases.

Even if the damage is slightly lower, this change adds a lot more variety and possibilities in the way the LB is used.
There was really nothing interesting you could do with the longbow before. #4 was always fun but thats it really. With a nice stealth there are plenty of opportunies for more creative play.

Sounds like you just dont enjoy the way the class plays, rather than there nessesarily being something wrong with it.
Its good that different classes play differently. What would be boring is if every class was different on the surface but underneath all worked on the same basic idea.
If you dont like how the ranger works thats fine, but just saying its working and therefore rubish is very narrow minded because clearly many other people like how the ranger is.

I do it for the fun. I much prefer fighting people in small groups where I can see the impact I am having on the fight and my person skill is effecting the outcome. I rarely find much fun in running as a zerg because all it really involves if following your commander, and doing whatever he says, and if you’re not doing that you’re doing it wrong.
Also as many people have said.. its extremely ineffiecent for zergs to cap camps and hunt dollys. Whether you want to admitt it or not it’s a fact that if a server has enough roamers you can deny all supply to enermy towers/keeps, meaning they will never upgrade and wont have seige defending them.
Also if you then say a server has 0 roaming groups / soloers at all and every single person is in the zerg.. good luck finding the enermy intime to save anything and goodluck holding any camps at all on the map.
Theres obviously a balance because if everyone isroaming thats clearly not going to work out well, but you do need some people doing it to scout, maintain supplies getting into your towers/keeps and generally watchover the map because a blob can only be in one place at a time.
