Its the hardest possible dungeon available to us in GW2. Do you seriously want to ask Anet to tune it down? No thanks:)
I think its already been nerfed down enough since the start up. It should either get fixed back to what it was before, or it should stay the way it is. Why should it take 10min to finish GW2s hardest dungeon.

I am currently experiencing the same problem. It was fine up until today. I cant do anything while this is happening. Any fixs would be appreciated or ideas.

The only thing that makes Lupicus hard is the random bolts he shoots out which have no indicators in Phase 2.
Edited Phase 2 to point out the attack more clearly. Thanks:)

Agree to all except 5. I think these are good ideas Anet could consider and fine tune with their Dungeon team.

Dont had any great armour, in mather of fact I had 77-80 armour, not the best weapons and I do know my guildies also didn’t had it. But we had no problem defeating him. We didn’t use any Consumables or other cooking stuff. It was our first time there and we had no problem defeating him.
But thank you for your guide. but in the end its all about skill and logical thought and less about armour etc.
I do agree, GW2 is made for players with skills and logical thought. The idea of the game is to not get hit by anything if possible. But armour does help:P
Good job beating Lupicus with your armour:)

The equipment requirement makes me scratch my head. I hope it doesn’t mean that without full exotic set I should forget about doing arah explorable mode.
Definitely not, it is not a requirement. Just a convenience to have since full exotics usually means over 14k+ HP. It helps if you don’t get 1 shot, but the consumables will help.
To those that mentioned consumables aren’t necessary. Yes its not necessary but helps a lot! Plus they dont cost a lot, so you might as well.
Post has been updated with new information.

Well its just human nature to select something out of a bunch. We prefer a certain type of dungeon over others. What that can be idk, but for now the standard farm runs are based on “Not bugged routes”, easier to clear with new players in the team, less boss/trash in the way + high token loot.
It should eventually change as players see no need for the tokens but just want to explore the dungeon for better loot, which they get at the end of the dungeons.
Not A Message.
The 5 man dungeons feel like raids. The bosses have one-shot abilities, a billion hp, and have pretty basic tank-and-spank/zerg mechanics.
Agreed, plus the dungeons arent made to fit 20people in it. At the same time, GW2 does not have a healer, tank, DPS that can play their role well. Everything can be anything, some do better than others in some roles but its basically the same for all characters.
To me, a GW2 version of a raid with no tank that can keep agro + a healer to effectively heal the tank would mean. 20+ people rolling and jumping all over the place. It would just be an epic face to screen moment.

Surprise drops couldn’t hurt, Like Surprise dye color only from certain boss kills etc..? :o

What do you want? A 5 hit k0 trash? A 20hit k0 trash or a 100hit K0 trash. Be more specific. Time doesnt really say much of what you expect from Anet.
Not A Message.
No, but its very boring to do these easy farm run dungeons.
I try to pick other options from time to time. So I dont see how its pointless. I think its more pointless to go to dungeons and only do the easy stuff and complain how easy/boring or how much content lacks in GW2 dungeons.
Pick something else, enjoy the dungeons, do something challenging for a change.
Not A Message.
Agreed. The loot isnt the best, and hope for good loot is low from the start. Need better loots!
Not A Message.
Yeah, the loot needs to improve I think for completing the dungeon. Maybe a chance to gain something very appealing to look at in gear/weapon or better stat item (although I think Anet is trying to avoid “better items” / The perfect gear + weapon system).
Not A Message.
Well, adding other servers may help boost the number of capable, new and fun players around gw2 to go into dungeons with.
But first thing is first. Dungeon bugs need to be fixed before this happens I think.

He got to like 10 stacks when I fought him. They didn’t seem to do anything, honestly. My group and I noticed the stacks going up and all, and wondered if he’d get stronger and start killing us, but nothing happened. Don’t know man, seems like ignoring the grubs is the best plan of action.
Well, it could be for some people:) Either ways Ive done the “ignore grub action”. The max stacks was 25. Also it affects how much damage he does after coming out of Shadow walk is what my group noticed.

It was rather easy. Quite amusing to glitter down Zhaitan though:)
MOA GLITTER!! MOAAA!!!!
But yes, a better fight may need to be considered. The movies that appear before the fight show how strong Zhaitan may be, but the actual fight failed to show that.

Is this the guy who summons grubs that move toward him and heal him? Just dps him down the whole time, the grubs do absolutely NOTHING. Easy fight.
They give stacks to the boss:/ You will notice he does more damage and have higher defence overall after phase one. The more stacks the harder the overall kill gets.

Hmm, some edits did not seem to get edited. Ill re-edit Phase 3 when the forum lets me.
There are 3 more attacks that should have been added there.
1. Close range AOE spam like the one from phase 2.
2.Phase 2 Green ranged Auto attack
3.Life stealing howl? A green animation which looks like Lupicus is howling or sucking in the air around him.
*Also the Warden path opens up a waypoint near Lupicus. Exact same spot as the Seers path (Asura path). To unlock this waypoint, you need to complete the dungeon up to the steps by Lupicus, and TP to the waypoint. Kill all mobs in the way, and kill the gate guards.
Extra pictures;) Cause we all like seeing Lupicus dead

Extra notes from Community:
- Its been confirmed by the community and personally. Maxed out gear is not required, only a good team of players with decent communication, trust and dedication to beat this boss.
- Food and potion is not necessary, however it is recommended for a smoother fight. It is up to you if you value food and potions that are less than 1 silver each would make your life better or not.
- 14k+ Hp does not seem to be recommended any longer, however it is still recommend to have high HP over lower hp.
- After Phase 1 Lupicus may spawn up to 2 grubs. If possible kill these, but at this point grubs are not a priority. The Priority is to survive.
- In phase 1, apart from killing the grubs, make sure you wipe out the locusts too. If you only dps on grubs and boss, the locusts swarming around will bring you big trouble in phase 2.
- During phase 2 dont try to stand between the red circles. Its a projectile rather than really an AoE, and it can hit you even u are out of red circles. Best is a perfectly timed dodge, obscure it by hiding behind the gate, or go out of range. Block also works wonders too if you can.
- When he charges you, the time to dodge is right before he reaches you. You can see it by a green trail towards you. I find it easier to timely evade his attack rather than dodging his charge.

So how long does it take to kill Lupikus?
- Depends, hes like an easier version of a raid boss on WoW. It can take 15minutes, it can take 30. It can take 1 hour depends how badly you do as a team or how much punch you are able to do as a team while you run around.
How good is the loot?
The same as any other boss. It may or may not drop exotics/rares, but will drop greens or blues.
Is Lupicus the last boss?
No, there are 2 more. (Maybe more depending on the route, but the general understanding is there is 2.)
Note:
- The path all differ after Lupikus is dead once again. There is 4 doors that you can go through once Lupikus is dead. Depending on which of the 4 paths you chose at the start. The door open to you is different.
Do all the paths lead to Lupikus?
Yes, there is no way around Lupicus without exploiting a bug which is bad. A dead lupikus is a good lupikus so kill it.
Can the reflecting shields before Lupikus be used in fights to reflect damage?
Not that Ive noticed. The shield just broke when the ult hit. I assume its too much damage. Dont bother using it. Plus the shields should have been used in the previous section either way and shouldnt be intact by the time you fight Lupikus.
Does Lupikus drop legendaries or the boss’s after?
This cannot be verified, but legendaries are player made and the exotics necessary for legendaries are gotten via the corret combination of items in the mystic forge or via the Trading Post. However there are indications that maybe a high level dungeon boss may drop a part of the legendary item build. This cannot be confirmed as of yet, but may be true may be not.
Can you make money off the Arah dungeon?
Yes, dont die a lot, play well and you will make money once you reach the end. There is a reward for completing the Arah dungeon, where you get money + xp + any random drop you may get. You also get 15 Shards of Zaitan from the completion + additional shards collected through out the dungeon.
Is there any close Way Point to Lupikus?
No, Unfortunatly all Way points are far, but the one with the Asura path is closest to Lupicus than any other Way Point. It maye be best to try this path first if its your first Lupikus slaying trip!
Do you need exotic armour to beat Lupicus?
-After confronting the Gw2 Community, it seems as if full exotics is not necessary. Many have done Lupicus without full exotics. Think of it as a convenience to have a well geared up team. Makes life easier, however as noted above. It is not a requirement.
Extra notes:
-There seems to be a bug or intentional coding. If a thief or any class makes all the players in the Lupikus arena invisible in any way, Lupicus will reset. Please try to avoid using invis.
-The melee player does not need to be guardian, any player with decent melee weapons and confidence may take this spot. Its only for the first 25percent.
-Some have said stopping the grubs may not be necessary and the stacks given to Lupicus does not make any difference. If you find this to be true, please post it bellow and the community can have a look and decide. However as the writer of this guide. I think Anet wanted the grubs to make a difference.
I hope this guide helps. It may be a bit messy, but if you see a need to edit something, then post it bellow and it will be considered:P New information would be nice if any can be given. Additional tactics that have worked may also be posted for all to see.
If you need an extra hand, dont hesitate to whisper me in game. I am always looking forward to a nice challenge:) Just dont invite me if you have bad gear/lower than 14k hp and have low confidence in beating Lupicus. It would be better if you spent an extra day upgrading your armour:)
Good luck killing Lupicus!

Ive posted this up on the GW2 Forums hoping I can stop the boring farm spree that people are on due to the lack of confidence they have in finishing the Arah Dungeon. Anet has done a great job making this Dungeon. Its big, its challenging, and has a lot of content compared to any of their other Dungeons. I hope this Guide will help a lot of other people Enjoy the Arah Dungeons as much as I did.
I would like to thank all the comment and fixs people have suggested. I have updated the posts accordingly. I would like to stress that this is not the ultimate guide. It is one amongst many other method of completing Lupicus. This guide is mainly targeting the Gw2 community to try to convince those who lost confidence in the Arah dungeon. It can be beaten. It is not impossible! So lets do it!

When Phase 2 starts, run as far away as possible from Lupicus, as his ult has a range. Plus the further away you are the less AOE circles you meet, and easier to dodge. When Lupicus shadow walks to you, dodge the attack, and run away from Lupicus. Try range Lupicus from time to time to lower its HP. It doesnt matter if you get out of range, just dont die. Your team mates will do some damage while you are out of range. IF the situation looks safe, get a bit closer to Lupicus and range him to do some damage. If Lupikus uses the target green goo attack, dodge this as well.
IF someone dies near Lupicus, as in his melee area and is downed, dont bother resurecting or he will wreck you too. Wait untill Lupikus shadow walks away and jump in to help your party member. If Lupicus ults while you are resurecting. LEAVE THE PLAYER AND RUN! No point having more people die because of one. IF you die, run back asap.
IF it looks as the player you are trying to resurrect is going to get you killed too. Leave him/her. Its everyone for themselves in these instances.
DO NOT RUN OUT OF THE ARENA IT WILL RESET LUPIKUS TO 100 PERCENT HP. Atleast 2 people MUST be in the arena. If you are solo in the arena its ok, but if there is 2 people in the arena, one walks out it resets Lupikus. This may be a bug i dont know. Initially players tried to pull Lupikus out of the arena making him stuck in the door frame of the arena which was later patched. Any player or team that attempts this gets the wrath of Anet on them which resets Lupicus.
Phase 3
Life = 50 – 0 percent.
Lupicus Spells/ability: (New sets of spells.)
- Green AOE bubble – Very much like the Mesmers AOE Sphere, this AOE traps the player and wont let the player go out until he/she is dead or the cast time is over. You cannot dodge out of this bubble once your in it. Lupikus uses this bubble within melee range, right after it appears out of its Shadow walk. Dodge it before it casts this spell. It can be done as you will see an extra large red circle around you. (around 4k damage per second.)
Note:
Lupikus will stand in one location spaming this spell out, looks like he is forcing an overgrown bubble into the ground.
- Green bubble attack – Very much like the life steal attack of a necromancer. It is also cast within melee range, dodge doesnt seem to break this spell but rather distance. So run away once he shadow walks and casts this. It does damage over time. The longer you are being casted on the more damage you take.
-Green Life steal sucking attack – Lupicus goes all Ballerina in the air, and floats up. He creates a large AOE around his avatar and sucks in a green light from the ground. Any player caught in this will be feeding life to Lupikus. You will die unless you leave this circle. Pets and NPCs dont seem to do much to affect Lupicus health. They dont always die like Player avatars either from this spell.
How to get past Phase 3.
Same tactic as Phase 2, just keep in mind the 2 new additional spells. The Green AOE bubble + Green bubble attacks. Stay far away from Lupicus. The goal here is to distract Lupicus in any way possible. Hunter pets, mesmer clones, summoned creatures/npcs will confuse Lupicus and they will be the target of his 3rd Phase spells. Make sure to keep the waves of non player avatars running towards Lupikus, turn your pets to agro from guard mode if your a Ranger!

Phase 1
Life = 100 – 75percent.
Lupicus Spells/ability:
- Summons a Risen Grub (A green smoke can be seen on the Avatar that will spawn the next grub. You will be stunned when the grub appears on you.)
- Summons Swarms (Green smoke swarms of bugs that have a lot of hp + can do massive DPS if swarmed by a group at once)
- Goes Invulnerable (Goes invulnerable for a couple seconds to signal phase 2 starts)
- Eats Grub for boon stacks. (Max 25 stacks + 1000 damage + 1000 defence per each stack. Not sure about the boosts but it sounds about right)
How to get past Phase 1.
Phase 1 is all about killing bugs. Not about killing Lupicus. Reason being Lupicus spawns Grubs on your team + pets. Which he will eat once they are grown to gain additional stat boosts. I am not sure what the exact stats boost is but consider it 1k + damage and 1k + Armour. It sounds about right.
- At the start 4 should decide to become the “Rangers” 1 to become the melee.
- Stand a couple steps away from Lupicus, not too far so your range attacks cant reach, and not too close so the grub gets eaten faster.
- Everyone stands in a tight group, not necessarily on top of each other but within a heal circle range.
- How to stand? 4 Rangers stand behind the melee player who stands in front to block the swarms from reaching the rangers who are shooting at Lupicus.
So when you start fighting Lupicus Rangers target Lupikus and melee stops the bugs. IF the melee falls, instant resurrect him and help him out with AOE spells if you see that there are more than 3-4 swarms around your group. If everyone resurrects 1 person, the resurrection will take less time.
If a Grub apears, ALL rangers MUST attack it. Use spells, auto attack it doesnt matter as long as the Grub is dead. A good team wont let the grub slide half way towards Lupicus and kills the Grub within the group. Targeting the Grub with Ctrl + L Mouse click helps.
Phase 2
Life = 75 – 50percent.
Lupicus Spells/ability:
- Mass AOE green goo Attack – Also known as his ult. (1 Hit does around 14k damage) Dont get hit!
- Green Random Range strikes – Attacks that look similar from his ult but targets a player and follows them. (This can be heard via sound. Its a gurgling sound, and can be dodged. Remember dodge this attack half way towards you or else it will follow your dodge and hit you. – 1 Hit does around 14k damage. Perhaps the reason why Lupicus is so hard to complete in general.
- Shadow Walk – A blink/windwalking ability. You can see Lupicus when he does this, and if he targets you dodge. If you dodge it 1s, you will be out of range when he appears. When Lupicus appears he will do a small AOE damage where he lands + 1 slash attack with his claws on you (14kish damage in 1 hit, maybe around 16k.)
How to get past Phase 2.
After the boss goes invulnerable it helps if you are on voice chat to shout out a warning. If not, look at your team and run when they do, or if someone says run, just run. When the boss ends his invulnerability it will either use his ult or shadow walk. The goal in this phase is to not get killed, because when you die, it becomes harder for the team to hold back Lupicus.

This is not a perfect guide, just a guide to help those who need it. Anyone that wants to add more content to it or if you see something that needs fixing. Post an answer bellow and Ill take a look at it.
Many know him as the giant bug summoning fox like thing who instant kills you and wastes your silver on repairs. The impossible final boss to ignore because he cant be beaten and Anet needs to Nerf him. Let me educate you on how wrong you are:)
Follow these tips and you will have a better chance.
What you need to win vs Lupicus:
Gear: - (It has been noted that normal rare gear works too, however these are recommended)
- Full Exotic Armour Incl Trinkets(Not necessary but highly recommended and should be a must)
- Exotic Range weapon with decent range (This is a must!)
- Exotic Melee weapon (Only one in the group needs this, the “Tank/Melee role character”) – Explained further down why.
- A full set of Armour with a complete set of Superior Runes
- Weapon with a decent Upgrade.
Consumables:
- Multiple “Powerful Potion of Undead Slaying” – Lasts for 1h if you dont die.(If you die you need to drink up again) – ( Can be bought in trading post for less than 1 Silver each.)
– Reduces Incoming damage from Undead by 10 percent.
– Increases damage dealt to Undead by 10 percent.
– 10 percent more experience from kills (Experience is always nice to have for more Skill points)
Either:
- Chocolate Oranges - Lasts for 30minutes. – There are better ones out there, and if you have them, use them. ( Can be bought in trading post for less than 1 Silver each.)
– Nourishment + 28 percent more magic find (Helps to get better loot)
– 10 percent boon duration (Increases your boons which is nice – Boons are buffs on your character)
– + 10 experience from kills (Xp always helps)
OR
- Mango Pies - Lasts for 30minutes – There are better ones out there, and if you have them, use them. ( Can be bought in trading post for less than 1 Silver each.)
– Nourishment + 70 Vitality.
– Gain Health every second (Number unknown)
– + 10 experience from kills (Xp always helps)
Other requirements:
- Atleast 14k+ Hp on your character or you will be 1 shot and risk the teams success every time you die.
- Know what to expect.
- Fast reactions incl knowing how to dodge. (Hotkey dodges on side mouse keys helps a lot)
- Dont get lost running back to Lupikus if you die. Know the map.
- If you are downed, hope and wait for a party member to resurrect you
- If you die, RUN BACK ASAP. I cannot stress how many people just sit down waiting for a res that would never come. If you die in an explorable mode dungeon, you run back no matter what. Nobody should risk resurrecting a dead team mate.
The Tactic
I am Assuming if you are reading this, either you have no clue who Lupicus is and just interested in reading forum posts or need help understanding this boss.
Lupicus has 3 Phases which need to be completed. I will break down each Phase and explain how to get past them.

Desolation - LF highly organised WvW PVP + PVE guild with exotic gears for dungeons.
in Guilds
Posted by: DKP.4196
Hi,
It may be too early to ask this question, but I am looking for a guild that could supply me with these requests. I am a ranger lvl 80 with full exotics, and I want to be able to join in with other people at my level to complete the Arah dungeons among many others.
I am also interested in a good PVP guild that’s organised in WvW. I am aware of the que issue to join WvW but it can never hurt to look for a good guild now:)
Feel free to message me or send me an email in game, or post here. I am still looking.
Thanks,

Ok, Ive figured it out. Ive just got my medal and prize:)
What needs to be done to get 100 percent map completion is:
100 percent world completion
-All hearts done in world
-All POIs visited in world
-All Vistas watched in world
-All Skill challenges completed in world
-All WvW POI + Vista + Skill challenges completed
-Story mode done (To access certain Pois etc)
Then off to the “Chantry of Secrets” south of Lions Arch where the order of whispers have their HQ.
DUNGEONS DO NOT NEED TO BE COMPLETED
(Not sure about the PVP area, but it doesnt take 5min to finish the pvp area so you might as well do it.)
Hope this helps clear the confusion. Also Thank you for the inputs, everyone gets a cookies of virtual approval
NOTE:
Bug exists where Map Completion is stuck at 97/98 percent. Just go to the chamber either ways.
Bug exists where Chamber of Secret doesnt do anything. Wait it out until the bug is fixed or see if your map is truely finished.
Map Completion and World completion are 2 different things.

Nope, Ive done the PvP now. WvW is done, world completion 100percent.
Only problem Map Completion is 98 percent. Why?

Hi Ive actually had 100 map completion shown on my “map” Screen when I press “M” for the last couple days. Ive always dismissed the issue of not getting any sort of prizes for a minor bug but now the bug is bugging me.
Why have I not recieved anything? My only conclusion is that I dont have 100percent map completion as when I look at my character select it says 98 percent. Also on my “Explorer achievement” it shows some points not explored.
BUT I have walked around the whole of Tyria 2x now. I am not willing to do this another time as it takes a long time. Am I missing something here? Ive done most of the story mode dungeons and finished my story. Although Ive noticed nothing changes from doing dungeons on my “Explorer achievements”.
(Ive already read around, and most seem to agree dungeons are not part of the 100percent map completion, only hearts, POI, Vistas and the random walk in exploring instances)
Some help would be nice if anyone knows whats going on and how I could solve this.
