…, I guess DS/TD ones could really be frustrating.
You have that right! I can tolerate VD and mildly tolerate AB. But, I’ll never go back to TD or DS. The ONLY reason to go for me would be to complete the final boss. But, getting there (on any character) is just to darned hard.
To me, TD and DS are very good reasons for splitting out all of the HoT dailies from the other PvE dailies. They make some days almost unattainable, except for experts. And, at my age, I don’t have enough time or the physical capability of going back there.
The best way (and one that was suggested several times already in few different threads) would be to simply make a separate HoT daily category.
This is a really good idea; much better than mine above.
I have both types of accounts.
Since I installed HoT on one account, the three dailies are never the same.
Two are the same, but the last is always different because one takes place only in HoT and the other only in Core Tyria..
Your copy of the game is buggy. There are four dailies (in PvE). Every day (except during festivals, when there are more).
For example, there’s always one harvesting daily. Core has access to 18 of those (6 regions, 3 harvesting types each). HoT accounts do not replace those with 3 new ones, but rather expand that list to a total of 21 options (18 from core, 3 from hot).
I’m pretty sure this is false. The HoT ones replace the corresponding Tyrian ones. If you’re playing without HoT enabled, you’ll still see four; the Tyrian one that was “covered up” by the HoT one.
This has to be true, otherwise people who don’t have HoT would be missing a daily.
However, what is not known is how often the HoT option(s) are chosen. But, when one is chosen, it replaces the Tyrian one (for HoT owners).
What they SHOULD have done is add a fifth daily option, but only allow us to fulfill 4 of them (for rewards). The fifth option could be HoT plus other content, like Wastes and Season 3, perhaps.
-Multiplayer based content for character development. AKA Hero points.
-Vertical Maps.
-Power Creeped Elite Classes.
The vertical maps aren’t the root issue. It’s that you can’t tell what level you’re on without stopping and checking the map. Further, even that (checking the map) is grossly limited.
But the most important problem is that you can’t tell how to go up or down. You can be standing right over an icon, and not be able to find a way up or down to it.
There needs to be an up/down signaling system. Like the icons for stairs and elevators in the big cities. Or, some kind of color-coding or shading showing where tunnels and vertical movement points are. Just marking the bouncing mushrooms on the map would be a start.
They may have learned their lesson, since all of the Season 3 content has been on normal maps again.
Is there (on the web somewhere) a place that tells historical pricing for gem store items? I’m specifically trying to remember which items have been on sale, at one time or other.
So essentially a cheaper shared slot for one specific item? Then thered be no reason to buy the slots if you dont have the item
The idea is that they are items almost everyone has or will have at some point – portals, keys (any key), tonics (any tonics).
It’s a qol/convenience thing. However, as nice as the idea is, as established above, it’s just an extension of what we already have and it’s prob not something that would justify dev time on since shared slots already “work”.
Agreed. If we ever get anything like this, I would expect it to be a long time. They would have to think through the ramifications. PART of that has been done with shared slots already, but some of these could potentially affect game balance.
Illconceived, I’m more targeting what I think is a problem: ANet may believe there shouldn’t be any more shared inventory slots, or they may have technical limitations preventing more.
If that’s not the case, and they plan on selling others (even at higher prices), then my idea isn’t needed.
But, if they are up against some kind of wall (technical or philosophical), this idea provides a way for them to segment things. So, they can get more revenue without giving us more shared slots.
I think the op is suggesting something that would fit more in the equipment UI than inventory. So you could buy a slot there for any portal item you equip, same as you do now for gathering items.
The main benefit is that it wouldnt take up a shared slot which would be more useful for other items or if you had maxed on shared slots.
It isnt really meant as an improvement over the existing system and I quite like the concept, but I think realistically it isnt needed. I think if we ever get a keyring and tonic cabinet, any conflicts with shared slots would disappear.
Exactly. Except “keyring” and “tonic cabinet” would be specific types of what I’m proposing. Others might include trader express, banker express, what I posted above, etc.
Maybe the background might help to understand my convoluted thinking:
The idea came from a situation on my account. I had one toon in Silverwastes, one in Verdant Brink, plus a few more. But, I wanted a different character in Silverwastes. However, when I went to swap characters. I had to move over all kinds of things: shovels, dust, keys, mordrem parts, etc., from one character to the other. It took a while, and naturally I forgot some of the stuff I put in the bank for swapping.
Bottom line is I thought it would be useful if ANY character could go to that zone, without having to stop by the bank multiple times to do it. (There weren’t enough shared slots to do it efficiently, either.)
Then, once the new zones for Season 3 came, it became clear I wanted to have a toon in each, but also that I might want to swap them occasionally. That’s where the idea came from.
Actually, the idea is intended to provide a bit more of an income stream. I’m guessing they want further slots (of the kind we have now) more pricey.
This idea gives players some options. Not everybody wants a home portal, for example.
Every character has slots that aren’t really there: for gathering implements. This is kind of a hybrid between those and shared slots.
Idea I had for a gem store/reward item:
Purchasable single slot for specific item, that applies to all characters. Things that could be put in these would be stuff like the home instance portal stone, the devices that teleport you to the egg room or bitterfrost, repair canisters, keys, etc. They would operate similarly to the shared inventory slots, but for specific items, or a set of specific items.
They don’t have to show in inventory; just having an interface to them would be fine. Ones for keys or other stackable items should be more expensive, I would think.
In general though, I also dislike the ’let’s throw a bunch of kitten at everyone all at once!’ type of difficulty that characterizes the new fractals.
This, too.
Aquatic is the worst fractal only because I hate underwater combat with a passion. And I find both paths annoying as hell
I’m with you.
ANet listens too much to the minority in forums and will keep making their game lose players, then they’ll do these massive sale for $10 or something like bring out another expansion and throw in the other 2 games for free to new players. They’ll just lose existing players thanks to those vocals who supported making the game more restrictive (difficult) to the masses and tailored it to their needs of the few who likes seeing the masses unable to play the areas they are in. There will be a point where there’s not enough new players to pull into this game and then they might realize what just happened.
You have stated it very well.
I’m with you, OP: these changes are awful.
Yes, two. There’s about 30 more to fix.
ANet simply didn’t learn the number one lesson from HoT. I don’t understand; after admitting their mistake, and trying to correct some of the overpowering changes in HoT, they turn around and apply them to fractals instead.
ANet, you need MORE of the reductions in grossly-overpowering content, not less.
I agree 100%. The changes were almost universally bad in fractals.
You don’t have to get to the portal unless you’re not in a party. Just be in LA and use Y.
Who are you talking to, Weerus?
Most major runes sell on the trading post above market rates (except for the run-up to holidays, that is).
I’m playing through all of the Zhaitan story line missions. And getting mapping titles, but most people would consider that boring.
You can peruse the existing threads on this issue.
The packpack is the reward for the Achievement (4 years or more in-game), and not part of the Birthday Gift(s); thus, is for the account, and only rewarded once.
Wrong. It was specifically titled a 4th Birthday gift.
I think I lost my 28th daily reward chest.
Did they recently raise the limit on how many you can have? I topped out several years ago.
Folks, you’re getting far too bogged down in the details.
When faced with a complicated, but logical, question, reduce it to the absurd.
In this case, instead of poring over DPS and condi numbers ad nauseum, just ask the question: which character will do the best job against the target all by himself?
To get the answer, just look up “solo” with your favorite T4 and count them.
Now, a reduction ad absurdum argument like that is only valid if the encounter scales properly. To answer that question, figure out if 5 of the zerker builds would out-perform 5 of the condi builds.
If both questions have the same end result, you have your answer. No need for any math.
Using the 32-bit or “regular” client, I can log in as normal. However, with the 64-bit client (beta?), I can log in, but I can’t actually get into a character. I can only get to the character selection screen.
If others are seeing this, I’ll post the error. If not, I’ll just get rid of that file.
You are correct, Ethan, but only if your goal is to get a full set of BOTH skins (radiant and hellfire). If you want just one or the other, you can get it at 30,000.
However, please note that “full set” does NOT include the back piece. That requires 39,000.
What I don’t understand is why they have both a cap and a dearth of ways to get APs.
I would start with a support incident. When I reported an exploit, they then put me in contact with the anti-exploit team. I suspect copyright issues are handled similarly.
However, Necros make them a mindless endeavor.
While I agree with the rest of your post, I wouldn’t call necros mindless. It’s certainly possible to play them poorly and screw the party.
There’s a difference between a decently-played necro and a poorly-played one. Aetherblade especially shows up the difference. They’re harder to kill, but the bad ones still go down eventually.
I was kicked from a party because the other 4 players decided removing a chronomancer for a 5th necro was the “elite” and “meta”
I’m a big fan of my necro, but that’s really dumb. I’m a very good player with my necro, but I prefer having other classes in the pug to all necros.
It gets worse. I’ve been kicked a couple of times by dead people because I was killing the boss by myself. Apparently, they thought I was taking too long. Heaven forbid they bring along a res orb or learn patience.
So, THEIR poor playing coupled with lack of patience equals ME being kicked. Good grief.
Idk it’s just weird that you have two achievements covering level ranges 1-50 to replace them with two achievements covering level ranges 1-50…
The old achievements are historical. They can’t be advanced any more. They’ve been replaced.
Do it at lower levels first, like you did with all the other fractals. They’re not supposed to be defeatable at tier 4 on your first crack.
Like most of the others, I’m opposed to any regular subscription. However, they do have sales a lot. How about a monthly offering of something like a 1-day 10% off everything sale that you have to buy into with gems.
I chose 10% because it’s less than their usual reductions. But, even 5% might do the trick.
Give me a REASON to buy gems (that’s not related to the despised HoT), and I’ll buy them.
Oh, i didn’t mean that :|
Sorry.
You don’t have to apologize. Ideas are just ideas. He was just explaining why they probably won’t be added, not blasting you for anything.
Heck, if I got shot every time I had a not-so-great idea, I would be made of lead by now.
EDIT: More ideas: it would be luvely if we could position the nodes in our home instance. I’ve got nine now and they’re scattered everywhere. I’d love to gather them all in one place, maybe in a plaza, and see them all together.
Also, it would be great to have my nodes appear in the guild hall, only for me. It would give me more reason to visit the guild hall.
Couple this with the “house” idea a few posts back, and they’re even better. Won’t have to rearrange the home instance if you have a house.
At the risk of opening a can of worms it would be really nice to have a house to go around my bookshelf where I could keep other stuff too. One thing I always liked about the Elder Scrolls games was that you could buy (or in Morrowind ‘acquire’) a house and then keep all kinds of stuff you didn’t want to carry with you in there. I’d always collect interesting books I found on my travels and bring them home to read later. Usually at 3am while waiting for the shops to open so I could off-load all the junk I’d dragged out of a dungeon before heading back out.
This is brilliant. It could even works as a sort of mini-guild hall (with obviously a lot fewer things available).
If you (ANet) do it, though, I recommend NOT putting it into a place where you can exit into a city. Make it like the home instance portal stone.
Perhaps a better idea, Gaile: Introduce a 6/9, and require something like 3-5 15s or 1-2 16s to trade for it (or even more if +6 unbalances things too much).
The reason I think this is better is because your +16 move only covers 16s. What about the poor saps who built even higher ones?

Spirit Shards are useless anyway, you get so many of them and if you would want to convert them to gold you would have to click yourself to a broken mouse and carpal tunnel syndrome.
I’ve made far more money upgrading crafting materials than I’ll ever make adventuring. And, that requires spirit shards.

I’ve never darkened the door of raids, but I’m getting spirit shards via experience again on all my 80s.
In core zones only, i bet. Not in Bloodstone Fen, for example.
True. I don’t even know where Bloodstone Fen is, and I’ll almost certainly never go there.
But, your statement gave me an idea: Could the issue be that one started a raid (thus unlocking the mastery), and that then prevents XP for SSs?

It’s a very old idea, but a good one nonetheless. But, ANet looked at it a long time ago and (apparently) decided not to implement.
I do them when I can, just to help newer players climb the ladder. The drops aren’t great, but I don’t care.
I like the storyline. So much so that I’m on a mission to play through every story mission. It will require 30 characters, but I’m finding that the story missions played by other characters compliment each other’s story lines. There’s a lot of dove-tailing.
Our GW1 accounts are the same as our GW2 accounts. They share login credentials and link our ingame data betweent the two games.
I’m not talking about nuking it. Just disable logon.
There is also no need to run GW1 as admin, though you will likely need to have it installed somewhere other than C:\Program Files (or other directories with special permissions) if UAC is enabled in Windows. This applies to a lot of games that have self-updaters, because it’s not really practical to have Window’s own installer service handle these updates. You’d be downloading the entire game with every update, as I don’t think that installer would be capable of updating the individual files used within most games’ proprietary packed files.
Programs can be tailored to install partial updates. However, in-game updates would be impossible. Still, that’s a worthy trade.
Nobody should ever run ANY program with admin rights if there’s no reason to. It’s the first rule of security: never run an unprivileged application from a privileged account. You’ll find a variant of it in every computer security book. I never run any applications as an admin, unless it’s a backup or security program that needs admin rights to do its job. Except GW.
On accounts that don’t have admin rights, tt least GW2 should back out of admin mode after the installation of an update is complete. Would require restarting the game, but would be worth it.
Take your time. You are a detriment to your team if you haven’t worked your way up the scales, no matter how good you are in the regular game.
It wasn’t low AR that killed you. It’s a bug. I’ve reported it, but only once, because you start fighting too quickly to keep typing.
Try to report it while you are dead.
