This is huge for rangers’ spirits also, thank you ANet, it was a much needed change.
Yep, this is pretty much the sole reason I’m not that interested in pvp, having 120+ ms puts you at a huge disadvantage. A shame really.
Don’t expect sympathy here, people don’t generally care unless it affects them directly.
Dude… please at least tell me you’re using WK as to at least have a bit of condition removal with QZ, otherwise please shut up, if you have the audacity to run a glass cannon build with zero condition removal without knowing exactly what and how to dodge don’t expect to beat anyone with a sliver of condi damage.
You optimized this build against classes with heavy CC such as warrior at the cost of having little to no defense against conditions, if you want more survavility you’re gonna need to sacrifice stability and damage.

There’ll be tons of returning players and many will find that their servers are dead as far as wvw is concerned.
Or you could spam tonics and rapid fire all day =D
Speed up the cast time while we’re at it, to match with speed they have underwater.
I’m waiting for the nerfs to base healing before making a decision.
Also, “high skill, high reward” weapons and abilities should be about timing and such, not about having to do wonky UI and camera tricks to make a weapon more viable.
I agree wholeheartedly.
LB doesn’t neccessarily mean long range. Rapid Fire works just fine at melee.
They die too easily, and are only useful in a handful of bosses, I’ll be using Hunter Signet instead until they either make them unkillable or rework Nature’s Vengeance to actually make them useful.
Sun Spirit is still good if you’re a sinister ranger, though.

I don’t like having to rely on weapon swapping and non responsive movements to dodge and manouver, not only does it mess up my rotation, it’s dangerous and often unrewarding.
If some people enjoy it the way it is, let them have it, Rapid Fire, Maul (dem 20k crits) and Quick Draw is everything I need as far as melee dps goes.
And yes, “Just because it’s not showndoesn’t mean it doesnt happen.”, as Dsslive said.
It’s a fictional world, if they don’t show us when it happens or don’t mention it at all, we have no reason to believe it does.
It’s a valid point though, depression in Tyria seems to be unheard of, with all the war and loss going on about you would think it’d be realistic to hear about a suicide story or two. The reason’s probably because it’s such a delicate topic and writers would rather keep it under the rug, just like the “r” word.

Anything that I put on my back looks like that, what’s up with that? I can’t use any back items at all because they levitate 5 inches away from my body.
You need to find something else to be bothered by.
It’s pixels on a screen in a video game that you will only see while staring at the display with the camera zoomed in and your character standing still with nothing else around.
Meanwhile, no one else will care, because they’ll be busy, actually having fun playing the game.
It’s also very noticable while running, and I really couldn’t care less about what other people see or have fun doing.
Ironic, how the sword autoattack for rangers uses attacks that inherently require a lot of movement, yet it roots you.
At least let us dodge halfway through it, if you’re auto’ing a boss you’ll get stuck in your auto attack animation and wont be able to dodge that important nuke that 1 shots you.
only thing you can do is to not play a charr.
It’s so sad that this is the only solution, I’m on the brink of rerolling Norn, it’s ludicrous that only 1/10th of the armor available to you doesn’t have clipping issues, I don’t know why they couldn’t just make every armor work like Flame Legion Heavy does which moves alongside the tail and isn’t pierced by it.
Sorry devs, I know it’s hard work, but I was really looking forward to having my own quiver and spending so much money into it only to have it disabled :/

I love everything about the Charr, from the way the character stands to the way they run on all fours. I only really dislike the absolute lack of armor choices that don’t clip or make them look goofy… and let’s not even mention the hair style “non” choices ( all fatal flaws for a game that touts itself as having no endgame but cosmetics )
I have charr: Warrior, Guardian, Engineer, Elementalist, Necromancer and Mesmer (female a that)
It’s the only beast race in any MMO I’ve played that was done right… and then the game got live, not enough people felt like I do so the Charr race as a whole got left twisting in the wind to become second class citizen to the devs who created them. Now they are mostly a joke race with goofy 80s pink or cyan Glam Metal band hair cuts.
Yes, I’m a little salty
I also dislike the lack of varity, but to be honest, coming up with creative Charr hairstyles and clothing must be really challenging.
I really enjoy this fight for some reason, anything that requires reflexes and quick judgement is really fun (for me), I really wish you couldn’t stack on a corner in that dredge experiment map, it looks like so much fun.
98% of bosses are already “ok everyone stack up, spam kitten off cooldown and dont fall asleep”, leave Mai Trin be.
I’m trying to find a dev’s statement after we were told we’re being heard for the 4th time, but I don’t frequent social media (twitter, fb etc) and I can’t find anything on the forums, are they still looking into it or was Gaile’s comment nothing but damage control?
That’s pretty much it.
So you’re basically saying that you can’t do dungeons fast without it being exploiting?
You should know that whatever “regular way” means to you, it is subjective. To me what is a regular way to do dungeons is to normally go with 1-2 friends, not caring at all about what classes we’re using and we will not kill trash mobs unless it’s necessary. This is a regular occurrence for me and it’s not cheating. Is it regular for most people to do dungeons without groups of 5? Certainly not.
Arenanet gives us a choice of whether or not we want to kill enemies, skip events, take shortcuts or whatever. You need to get it out of your head that just because somebody doesn’t like doing something exactly the way that you do it’s exploiting something unintended, because that’s simply false. You don’t know what the original creators of the dungeons intended and at this point they probably don’t even remember because they’ve stopped working on them years ago.
tl;dr – You need to look at the situation from more perspectives than just the way you feel about it. Being close-minded will not only prevent you from being able to understand other people, it will make it more difficult for you to cope with different interests and conflicts that come along the way as a result of them.
Lol, the lecture was unnecessary.
You’re telling me merging paths in AC was something ANet intended? what about outright skipping entire jumping puzzles with teleports? or doing something in completely unpredictable ways like the arms seals in the colossus fractals. This isn’t about perspective, it’s about their lack of foresight and the burden of knowledge new players have to go through before being eligible by elitists to join their groups, which is what this thread is all about.
Personally I would be upset if they forced us to take the long route without adding better rewards, but making it an even ground would be fairer for all, and certainly less frustrating for new players.
Don’t you get a buff when Clarion Bond is off cd?
Edit: you do, it looks like this: http://puu.sh/kzfwE/d91196c5f7.jpg only works in combat though.
(edited by Daharahj.1325)
Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Natural Stride a Grandmaster trait?
I’d just be happy if my female human Necro would say ‘centaur’ correctly. Very disappointed when I found out who the voice actress was as well.
female human voice is something I admire, some lines have so much enthusiasm compared to other races/gender. “Save yourselves!!” “Retreat!!” “Agh! I will destroy you all!”, etc.
If there’s ONE THING I could change about my Charr, it would be his stomping animation, it’s so sloppy. I would take Norns’ stomp anyway, its so kitten.
You can’t compare dungeons on this game with a game FFXIV’s without coming to the conclusion of GW2’s being really terrible, and that’s because we have had no maintenance on them for years.
When content is left to rot and no meaningful changes are made along with no new content that has engaging combat is implemented, this is what happens. Everybody hits the max level, everybody ends up repeating the exact same things over and over again and nobody feels like settling for less than what they’re used to.
That’s a good point, the fact that there’s two ways to do every instance (the regular way, and the fast way with exploits) is a clear indicator that Anet simply doesn’t spend enough resources fixing things and adds too much burden of knowledge making the new players vs veteran problem much worse.
They need to fix those shortcuts and increase the reward, right now the whole thing is a mess, I’m spamming instances pretty much all day and there isn’t a single one where I do as i’m told by the NPC or quest because there’s always a faster way to do it.
But I get the feeling old content is gonna be left to rot, I hope I’m wrong.
This is why you should do what I do: bring 3 people you know and kick whoever tries to get you kicked. Bonus points if you talk trash to him beforehand.
I run into a lot of charr, or at least, not less than other races. I agree that there are far more humans in general, but that’s normal for all games.
Yes.
15 characters.
First thing I noticed- You lose all your celestial “shroud” bar when leaving early. May I know the reasoning behind it?
Your pet’s condition damage that is.
“Sic ’Em!” (10s): 40% Damage, 40% Movement Speed.
Is this intended or am I missing something?
I have, and I might not be the best ranger of the bunch, but I find it much more reliable to use TU and exploit scholar runes/Loud Whistle than get 3 whopping might stacks for a little bit (sure you get might get fury, swift and regen for 3 seconds whatever, but those boons are so abundant in the game you’re likely getting them from another source anyway).
(edited by Daharahj.1325)
How about reverting the buffs on WHaO to its previous state, and make a new heal from scratch, a Signet which as passive would transfer all your pet’s might/swift/prot to yourself and vice-versa (make it a pulse if you want), and a mediocre heal as an active.
The might stacking nerf was uncalled for.
LOL
3 stacks of might? are they kittening with us?
Sigh..
Back to switching to Ele for instances, I guess.
I wanted to see more, Rytlock took all the spotlight!
It was good, I love CGI, it felt a bit short though. The fight scene was average. I was really hoping to see more Destiny’s Edge characters in action (and not the new ones), this was also a very good opportunity to make the new protagonists more likable (currently almost noone likes Destiny’s Edge 2.0). But yeah, I know Rytlock is iconic, but don’t overdo it.
Great job, I expect more and better trailers in the future!
Let’s be real here, the problem with ranger currently is that everything that they do, other classes can do it better, the class had no identity other than a pet with faulty AI and its long range.
Now Rangers have a purpose, they offer something to the party that no other class does.
And that something, being a healbot, is exactly the kind of thing many people didn’t want to do.
What else is left? If you want damage you bring a warrior, if you want buffs you bring a mesmer, if you want control you bring an ele.
Rangers are lone wolves, they don’t work well in groups, now if you choose to join a group as a ranger, you have to option to be useful.
Ranger are always tend toward Hybrid.
Why not a mix of offensive support and aoe control, as well as decent damage, instead of focusing on only one aspect, which is being a heal bot?
That’s what we are though, we’re decent at everything, but better at nothing.
Honestly I was expecting they would introduce more pet syngery, or add some sort of lure mechanic, or make traps viable in pve as a control tool. But that probably would’ve ended up being underwhelming, so I’ll take Druid and be thankful they gave us a necessary (hopefully) role in groups.

I really hope they improve our pet synergy rather than get rid of it :/ I’m really scared of what i’ll see at twitchcon, the only reason I play ranger is because of the dual thematic.
That sounds far too weak for an elite.
The condition removal should be a pulse.
I’m probably going against the current here but I hope Druid turns out to be a dedicated healer.
You make a really good point on lack of healers ruining a big aspect of pvp, you either go full damage and burst someone down in seconds, or go full sustain and win due to attrition; there’s no middle ground. Dedicated healers are there to keep both these issues in check.
I also agree with @raxx.8914 wholeheartedly, there’sa lot of room for improvement regarding clarity.
(edited by Daharahj.1325)
I mean our elite spec IS called “Druid”, I don’t think Rangers want to have anything to do with firearms from a thematic standpoint.
Hey! fellow GS wielder here.
For PvE I like to maximize my damage with opening strikes, remorseless synergizes well with Clarion Bond and Two-Handed Training, you might wanna stick to canines and birds as pet for extra interrupts thus more opening strikes. Pet swaps, Hilt Bash and interrupts give you extra stacks. Opening Strikes scale very well with ferocity.
Clarion Bond gives you 4 stacks of might on pet swap if you’re on a fire field, so I take Flame Trap with me even though I’m using zerk gear, Tail Swipe gives you another 3 stacks of might on top of the other 4 if you wanna swap your bird for a drake. For the most part i’m taking stacks of 3 mobs (due to target cap, GS only gets 3 :/) in 2-3 seconds, even before the daze from Hilt Bash wears out.
For dungeons I don’t like greatsword, or longbow, I use sword-horn/torch with sinister gear, and have a rotation set up for insta 20 might stacks, with 11-15 stacks upkeep and perma-fury, i can tell you how its done if you’re interested.

It’s just as selfish to demand it (as has been done in many shutdown, locked threads) without considering what it would do to the community. Turning a blind eye to the increase in trolling doesn’t mean it wouldn’t happen.
A long, long while ago, a dev said (I’m sure someone could find the actual video) that he’d like to get dueling in there, but it’s not practical at the moment. It probably never will be practical.
In the meantime, there are private PvP duel areas set up where people can gather and, funnily enough, duel. It doesn’t have to be open world. Dueling would be just fine in Heart of the Mists, since people lounge about there anyway.
It wont do anything to the community, this keeps being an ignorant statement.
This is a typical case of “I’ve got no use for it, so we can’t have it, even though it wouldn’t affect me in any way”, childish, even. I’m done arguing, you guys have already made up your mind.
(edited by Daharahj.1325)
Nobody is going to buy GW2 just to duel in open world.
It’s not game breaking for most that’s for sure.
The only people who will take advantage of that feature are the people who already own the game, which means the community overall won’t change one bit.
Not true, when I was a newbie myself I wanted nothing more but to be able to duel and discover what mine and other classes were capable of doing, I love pvp, but spvp was suicidal and outright stressing, for a new player a tvt is just a giant blurr. Now that the game has gone f2p a lot of new people are going through the same and I can relate.
The only thing that would change is people now have something to do when waiting for a boss to spawn or a queue to pop.
Well that’s a plus, lol.
