Until they’re found out and exposed staining the brand forever.
this game has just achieved ultimate balance. everyone using the same thing.
only the more skilled team can win.
PvE is pretty much the same, if you can stomach the visual nerfs you should be fine.
If you’re a PvPer though, no, don’t come back yet, gw2’s pvp is going through a dark phase.
I’ll quote myself on this one.
I mean, we tried. Both reddit and forums are packed with constructive criticism and legitimate complaints, ANet hasn’t replied to a single one. There’s nothing else to do but sit back and watch their esports dream fail.
We already have a map with a supposed anti-bunker mechanic.
It’s called skyhammer and it’s highly unpopular. Any map mechanic, that lays down direct damage and control effects on points will hit non-bunkers far harder than actual bunkers.
As long as it’s threatening to everyone equally it shouldn’t hurt some builds more than others, it can either 1 shot you regardless of your resistances or only knock you back a long distance.
Skyhammer is an interesting example, people don’t like it because it’s more focused on logistics rather than pvp and builds, and for veteran players the cannon isn’t that important since it’s easily telegraphed. I’m not entirely sure why it’s not a preferred map for tournaments and such, it may not be perfect but it’s far better than legacy and the like.
We need another map type like capture the flag or some counter strike mode were one team plant a bomb or somthink….
They need to stop experimenting with map styles (hello stronghold) and focus on fixing the ones they already have.
10/10 for comedy value.
brainstorming is supposed to be a bit crazy, but true comedy is the current state of pvp where damage builds simply can’t thrive and stuff like this happens, i don’t know how they let bunkering survive this long.
off the point, 45 word limit for titles is dumb.
First of all make up your minds is this a pvp game or a strategic game? If its the latter listen up:
Similar to trebs but with a few changes, 1) make it indestructible otherwise bunkers can just facetank the damage taking it down 100 damage at a time, 2) make the projectile unblockable, undodgeable and increase the damage significantly OR add a big knockback (1500 units long), otherwise there’s no point for it to be even there 3) reduce the wielder’s defense by 90% so players have a counterattack window.
If you want to go for the pvp route it’s time to add toughness penetration % as a stat ONLY to berserker/marauder amulets (otherwise toughness becomes irrelevant as a stat and now berserker wielders have a designated job) and thief/mesmer skills. Also we need more poison across the board, there are very few sources of poison and the sustain levels are through the roof.

We’ve tried nothing and we’re all out of ideas!!!111
You want to nerf the only counter to the foulness that is Mallyx rev? No, thank you. We actually need more hard counters to condis.
I don’t get it, every other single serious esport has a meta, and everyone follows it when they’re playing seriously. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.
Yes, we need more of these. Why do straight men get to have all the fun?
ANet said like 2 years ago that instead of reworking sword auto they’ll work on a dagger mainhand (which was meant to work like rev sword #1).
Whoever was working on it probably got laid off unfortunately.

You thought I’d let this fall from the front page? Nuh huh.
I thought you meant rubi (the employee). I was getting my popcorn ready.
How about making crafted precursors account bound and deleting them from all loot tables? The ones on the TP are going to go up in price and there you have it now crafting is cheaper.-
Either make it expensive or time-gated, not both.
I wouldn’t worry about it. For one thing, the person making these assumptions leaves out royalties, which includes China’s profit, they’re not reported with Guild Wars 2’s earnings, since Guild Wars 2 in China had to be released by a different company.
That looks a lot better for them, thanks for the info.
While part of me does want ANet smacked down for bad choices, financially if that’s what it takes, it’s so that they’ll learn and improve the game. Not because I hate them or want them fired or the game shut down. In general, I don’t really want the game to do badly.
I think 90% of the backlash comes from people that actually like the game and don’t want to see it fall because of stupid decisions.
This change literally made me quit the game. Call me extremist I don’t care, I can’t even look at it, this class just doesn’t feel the same.
Let me know when they change it back.
Actually the people who designed those dungeons left the company, so technically #2 is wrong.
if you were too look up any company for employee reviews you would see the same exact thing.
Not really you wouldnt. Try looking up the most successful companies. Yes they have some bad reviews here and there, but neither are the majority complaining about a very specific issue (whereas the majority of ANet’s negative reviews come from bad management) nor do they have such a low overall score.
Every company has many that complain about whatever. How is what is on that website any different than what you’d find elsewhere? So based on the OP, any company that has bad reviews on there must be doing poorly?
Hmmm you might wanna check other companies in that same site, the most successful companies have up to 4.5 stars, with a 90%+ Approve of CEO/Would recommend.
That’s just one site. It’s not the definitive source on whether a company is performing poorly or not and that’s even assuming you can prove there’s a correlation between those reviews and how a company is actually performing.
Okay, but this site is undoubtedly more trustworthy than your statement.
We see there are issues with this company, they are not doing good, the community is unhappy, and judging by what I see in regards to patch content and forums i’m more inclined to believe these negative reviews than your blissful outlook.
Because a bunch of anonymous people reviewing a company are trustworthy? Whether or not I am trustworthy has absolutely nothing to do with my argument. People are more inclined to criticize than praise.
Sites like glassdoor are a great tool to see overall trends. Its not that difficult to write one or two crappy reviews, but if a company has 30 reviews and the overall tone paints the company as a hellhole, it’s something you would rather avoid.
So 30 reviews is a large enough sample size to determine whether a company is performing well or poorly?
Yes. Especially if they’re all complaining about the same thing.

Also, a big percentage of ANets (former) employee’s complaints have the same thing in common, it’s not just a few. Dismissing that evidence because “every company has many that complain whatever” is a bit too arrogant.

Chronic understaffing, unreasonably ambitious schedules and product development cycles. Steady increase in number and scope of projects, and in quality expectations, but no increase in staff.
This seems to be the biggest offender, it’s also something that the community has been pointing out for a long time especially since HoT launch.
You don’t have to look far
Now you know why they aren’t doing so good and are so reluctant to give answers.
They always post on reddit instead of their official forum for kitten know what reason.
Oh yeah, read your own comments and others above you, feel the rage and madness. I wonder why.
Yep, cause this place is full of cancer. Just keep reading all the other comments, full of toxicity.
Well people passionate about the game tend to be the first ones to get upset and vocal.
“YOU RUINED SOMETHING I LIKE AND NOW I FEEL BAD… HOW DOES IT FEEL?”
People that don’t care just shrug it off and quit.
Earlier this afternoon I stumbled upon a player in LA with an Anet tag. I made my disappointment known to him/her. The following image is the convo I had with him/her.
(Sorry about the poor quality, only have kittenty old MS Paint to work with)
How hard is it to say something like that in this thread over here?
I mean that GM wasn’t even aware of the massive outcry lol, I wonder if they even read the forums.
“We strongly believe that regular balance updates are one of the key pillars of building a successful competitive game. As such, prior to each season, there will be a balance update. League play will generally begin about two weeks after a balance update to ensure that the metagame has stabilized in an appropriate manner. Balance will be closely monitored throughout the season with the goal of having solid balance going into the postseason tournaments.”

You need to express your dissatisfaction in places like these, not the forums.
- Added a 12 second ICD to Weapon Swap after using Ancestral Grace.
Welp, toss that to the pile of “I don’t like the visual nerf changes, please add a slider” threads.

Have you ever read LoL forums? According to them, LoL devs don’t know what they are doing, don’t care about their community, and can’t balance.
So no, these games are successful because the game itself is appealing to more players/viewers. Don’t be the kind of forum warrior who tries to fit every fact into his personal ideology and requests.
I’m an avid lol player so I do frequent the forums, and please take a minute to compare their Dev Tracker to ArenaNet’s.
This was written a week ago.
Take a look at their patch notes they give in-depth detail of every change, why it was changed, what they expect from the change, how is it beneficial for the game and the meta, etc.
They have 10x the amount of players than ANet does (being generous), so it’s expected for the forums to be a little crowded.
If you think this has nothing to do with their success you’re either in denial or willingly ignorant.
5k viewers for a weekly tournament is a lot for a small population game like GW2. Maybe you should stop comparing it to LoL, DOTA or CS:GO, because the viewership numbers will never be that high. But its more than a lot of games which are considered competitive (like SSB Melee for example).
Nope, the reason those games get higher numbers is because they 1) know what they’re doing 2) care about their community and 3) have a much more efficient balance team structure and higher hiring standards.
You reap what you sow, it is that simple.
Ummm why should I be enthusiastic about GW2 PVP when all I see from the devs is negligence and pvping is an absolute nightmare due to class imbalance?
I don’t know how many people share this issue, but this is personally my own reason not to care about the game and its esports. And this is someone who was very enthusiastic about it at first.
I mean, we tried. Both reddit and forums are packed with constructive criticism and legitimate complaints, ANet hasn’t adressed a single one. There’s nothing else to do but sit back and watch their esports dream become laughing stock.
Way to shoot yourselves in the foot.
Bring back the old devs, please.
No changes to staff #1, or AF regen, NOT EVEN ADRESSED.
Can this company become even more of a joke?
I can’t believe a 3 pages long thread with 123 replies wasn’t enough to draw out an answer from a dev.
This is it, this is the patch that will either make me come back or turn around forever, don’t screw it up ANet.
And since I don’t see them pulling out a competent balance team out of their kitten, I better start packing up.
(edited by Daharahj.1325)
I mean, pretty much anyone that’s been sticking this out are the hardcore ranger/druid fans, there’s nothing special let alone useful about this class that another one doesn’t do better.
People seem to be blind by “free” when it’s pretty worthless on what they give. Rather have a 50-60% black friday sale over this, so I can get the things I want that isn’t pure kitten
Lol the transmutation charge for today, really? Not even a stack of 5 either, just one, you can easily do map completion on a new character in the city…
Or some people were just raised to appreciate a gift as the kind gesture that it is.
Some gifts are also in bad taste, if you gift your child a chunk of charcoal for his birthday and then scold him because he doesn’t appreciate it, there’s gonna be bad blood regardless, but i guess it’s free and he can make barbacue with it! that ungrateful piece of kitten.
They can’t even if they wanted to, because they’re clueless.
Yeah well I was expecting a balance patch on the 17th as well and i got nothing.
Jon Peters 5signet yolo left AN some time ago. Condi rep is not really troublesome tho (i deal with em just fine with no cleanse) but condi reaper is by far the most braindead kitten ever on par with old turret engi
Lol, really they let go the only guy that communicated at all…
Rofl omg this is so rediculous, so you got something actually usefull completely free as a gift and now all of a sudden anet is the bad guy because they didnt fulfill your every desire with their nice gesture?
The level of greed and entitlement with this generation is through the roof.
Actually useful? Hah, hysterical.
Get off your high horse, this is just a video game.
