People defending DH, hilarious.
We all know if these were ranger traps they would have been useless by now.
Irenio confirmed he’s been reading through forums and he has some changes in mind. Druid needs a lot of changes if it’s supposed to please more users than it currently does
Confirmed where? How do you know this?
(#1) very rarely, I’d say never but that wouldn’t quite be accurate, it’s just very underwhelming.
(#2) depends, it’s 100% useless in PvE, and very situational in pvp, they need to make the thing blossom instantly.
I’m on the brink of quitting due to ANet’s silence as well, you’re not alone.
GW2 pvp has always been a giant blurr for me.
ANet could just disable guardians and kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
Thanks for clearing it up.
This game still has a long way to go as far as clarity and counterplay are concerned.
I got caught in a myriad of DH traps in the middle of nowhere, well kitten happens, right? Except I couldn’t dodge out of them, I used Lightning Reflexes, a stun breaker no less, and got interrupted mid cast, dodged again, and died mid dodge, with 5k hp left. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced this issue with any other skill except pre-nerf ranger taunt.
What the hell.
While everyone’s comaplaining about DH and Druids, the folks that have Daredevil figured out are laughing in a corner.
Jeez Grouch why spend time constructively helping people participate in tournaments, when you could be arguing with self entitled brats over why they are being beaten 1v1.
That’s about as childish as the posts you’re making fun of.
There are some very well constructed walls of text that the devs completely ignore, if they keep ignoring their pvp community, they’re simply gonna go away or start resenting you/think they’re better than you. This strategy is not working, they need to take notes from Riot.
Lmao that build.
As if that doesn’t make it obvious enough that OP is trolling. Calm down everyone.
Add that to the list of threads begging for ANet to adress LL.
Dragon Hunter should’ve been a ranger spec.
That way I finally would’ve been able to dual wield longbows.
They need to add a second wisp.
WHAT YEAR IS IT?
I’m not sure why it’s even there, most of the time I enter CA to pop #3 and/or #4 and leave immediately, except that I have to wait a second plus an extra second because it didn’t register the first command.
It’s not game breaking or anything… just really awkward and annoying.
nah pve is still as easy as it gets
I’ve sent multiple tickets about this issue, only to be laughed at by ANet.
I hope you’re not looking forward to your backpiece: http://imgur.com/a/CrbAK
Celestial #1 needs to be reworked it’s such a noob trap.
Look, someone has lost 1v1.
I play reaper, I can beat them in 1v1s very easily, I’m pointing out a skill that is so braindead OP you use it every time it is off cold down.
- I play Reaper and can beat them 100%
- They’re OP and need to be nerfed.
This forum just gets better and better.
Remember when Equality had a 6 second daze? Good days.
Swap wyvern for bristleback and entangle for SotP, you’ll have access to 25 easy might stacks and much higher dps.
Also for open world PvE sigil of corruption is nice if you’re using shortbow.
I wish they hadn’t forced us into a healing role.
The beauty of rangers is their independence.
Thank god they put a blast finisher on #3 otherwise it would’ve been the most boring weapon in the entirety of the MMO genre.
With a decent sword autoattack.
You’re never gonna feel comfortable using your ranger’s sword ever again.
Guardians specialize in protective and defensive magic.
Straight out of the wiki.
It sucks being left in the dark, but we all have to remember that they are busy doing their jobs. Getting involved in debates with online communities will not help development. Yes, they could drop by with the occasional statement (which we do actually get) so that we know they are listening, but the time and energy that would be sunk into internet circlejurks would take away from actual changes making it into the game. Devs are human beings too, and the amount of disrespect and general turdiness would eat away at even the strongest soul. Some input would be nice from prominent members of the community, but you’re assuming that these people do not also have an agenda (and the selection process would likely be full of QQ). It’s a verrrrry tricky situation to put yourself in as a developer.
Right now, we can see that the devs are listening to feedback and things are getting fixed (they fixed staff ability queuing last patch – woooo), we just have to be patient.
In short, I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just saying it is significantly more complicated than it seems.
There’s absolutely no excuse, no matter how much load they’ve got on their shoulders, they let so many things get out of control before saying something, WHaO, smokescale’s active, LL, etc. They NEED to start giving us context for these changes, and for future changes as well. All their answers have been the same reactionary bs “oops, here, have this, we’re also nerfing that because we’re so random lool”.
I don’t know, maybe I was spoiled by companies that can actually manage their communication in a professional manner.
Isn’t ranger with torch like second best damage with an easy rotation?
And just when I thought my 9k burning ticks were something extraordinary, mesmers were already hitting harder.
Oh i’m not denying that, but I’m still trying to process the notion that pets hardly took damage in PvE.
L2Read? I didn’t say pets hardly took damage in PvE.
I never got why they doubled pets health in PvE where hardly any damage happens
Lmao
PvE monsters do not deal much damage. Pets were buffed in PvE because they were dying too often because with such little health, even the small damage that PvE monsters deal was killing them.
Players in PvP deal orders of magnitude more damage than PvE monsters yet pets have not been buffed for PvP. Which, imo is crazy.
Capiche?
On top of this, pets now have a 95% damage reduction in PvE if they are untargeted, so are basically immortal unless you are using a Drake or Bear in a zerker party, yet they melt in PvP.
I’m all for ranger buffs man, pets should’ve never taken damage from AoE to begin with, regardless of its source.
The syngery with pack alpha should’ve been there since the beggining everyone’s acting like it’s a nice little luxury we got this last patch, it was a bugfix, and almost nobody takes BM anymore even for pve, so why even bother considering that. Had it been working from the begining it would’ve always been 20s cd, so they’re basically just cutting 4s coldown, but gutting the damage by 30% rofl, and nerfing the might stacking.
I’m supporting @Firelysm.4967 with this one.

Only the greatest value takes effect.
Oh i’m not denying that, but I’m still trying to process the notion that pets hardly took damage in PvE.
I never got why they doubled pets health in PvE where hardly any damage happens and not in WvW and sPvP where orders of magnitude more damage is laid down on the ground that pets cannot avoid. Crazy.
I never got why they doubled pets health in PvE where hardly any damage happens
in PvE where hardly any damage happens
HARDLY ANY DAMAGE HAPPENS
I am dumbfounded.
Have you tried cc’ing the Gollum
I did, but it earned me the title “Troll,” so I decided to retreat to my dark cave instead of continuing to alienate my fellow
Bearbowsrangers. If we can press one button (pet target foe—maybe 0 buttons if auto aggression is on) and deal constant damage, everyone would rightly say Ranger is a beginner class where the AI does all the work.
Edit: For those that don’t care to watch, the Lynx deals 7933 direct damage and about 7500 bleed damage in around 10s, by simply having the ranger press 3 buttons to apply some softish cc. That’s about 15,500 total damage in 10s. If the dev’s increase the passive damage pets do, they’ll have to decrease the active. I don’t want this.
Felines are the most reliable pets we have, try doing that with a wyvern…
I don’t know who this Eurantien guy is but I already hate him.
Also, why reduce the amount of hits instead of the damage? Might stacking wasn’t a problem.
The Smokescale Smoke Assault skill had its cooldown reduced from 24s to 20s and the number of attacks from 7 to 5.
Why are dragon hunters allowed to one shot people with their traps but our best burst skill needs to be changed?
Because Dragon Hunters are not Rangers.
That’s their logic, basically.
A smokefield that doesn’t even blind, a damage nerf completely uncalled for, yep, sounds like ranger updates alright.
They were afraid we’d throw another tantrum because we got nerfed yet again.
LOL did they intentionally miss the dmg nerf in the patch notes thinking that we wouldn’t notice? I don’t appreciate being taken for a fool.
I remember they said something along the lines of “well we’re putting back the smokefield as active but we’ll have to tune it because the active is supposed to be more powerful” and stupid blissful me thought they would buff the smoke field, lmao but they nerfed the damage from smoke assault instead.
ANet is like the devil, they’ll grant us one wish and kitten it up elsewhere, I’m starting to hold a grudge against these devs. Terrible, absolutely terrible.
Why would you roll a ranger if you didn’t want pets, if they removed pets we might as well be called marksmen, or rogue.
ya’ll dumb.
Hot is b2p not p2w.
It’s just like how back at launch you had to buy the core game to play the core game.
HoT is the exact same, you have to buy HoT to play HoT.By ya’ll definition of p2w, every single MMO on the market is currently p2w.
P2w:
“If someone can give a company money and get something good for it, then the game is pay to win.”
Lol, then every game in existance is pay 2 win, including single player rpgs…
No, P2W means you can buy more advantages the more money you sink into the game.
At worst, GW2 is still p2p, but nowhere near p2w.
Might want to clarify your class because they all play the matchup differently.
Revenant Staff is buggy and weaker than the other weapons. There are also a few useless for pvp traits like the taunt duration trait.
Scrapper
I think scrappers in a good place.Druid
Right now the traits allow a druid to have a ridiculous amount of survive. It’s better than a bunker guardian, however their outgoing support isn’t that great but that could just be that I mostly only see them self sustaining rather than helping which is a player issue.
I also rarely ever see glyphs. Is there an issue with them? I honestly don’t know but it is notable.I don’t see an issue with Reaper. Gravedigger is awfully strong but hard to land.
Tempest
It doesn’t seem like tempest is in a great place.
Staff is the second best weapon availiable to Rev, despite the #4 bug.
Scrappers are not in a good place, they need to be toned down.
Druids have very good group support, in fact they’re rewarded for it with improved AF regen, which leads to more group support.
Tempest isn’t bad, it just isn’t as braindead as cele d/d ele was.
Jalis’ elite NEEDS to be insta-cast, either that or reduce the cost, right now you can’t use it in a reactionary way, so it’s virtually useless, you’re almost never going to go above 50 energy anyway because it’s simply not efficient.
I would much rather have Glint up permanently with no downsides or ludicrous energy cost, and it’s not even the tanky line.
Hammers imo are fine, they bring far too much damage and utility for it to cost less.
Inspiring Reinforcement, yet another skill that needs to be insta-cast.
None.
The margin you have to react to your oponents moves is too small, it’s frustrating and infuriating when you predict an ability, see it, dodge it and get hit mid dodge anyways because of your latency.
Lol you want Unrelenting Assault to be even more unreliable than it already is?
You can:
- Interrupt it
- Move out of its range before the initial cast time finishes
- Block it
- Dodge it
- Bait the Herald into an unfavorable position with blinks
- Neglect the damage moving closer to your team mates
You have more than enough to work with.
Rev’s hammer is SLOW, and really vulnerable, you wont see many people running it because a) you don’t need range, you have tons of gap closers b) you have 1 mediocre dodge, that’s it, when staff has block, dodge, displacement, condi removal and deciving amount of burst.
You can’t compare pears to tomatoes.
The act of utmost nobility, a sublime self-sacrifice couldn’t be more fitting for the guardian class.
A few rules:
- It has to be strong, strong enough to prevent or revert a wipe, or turn the fight around by itself.
- It has to punish the player using it, for example high cooldowns and/or the inability to revive the player until the party is out of combat.
- There must be margins of error, which means you can screw it up, either make it interruptible or give it a health % requirement. This means you can make it more powerful without making it overpowered.
- It has to be situational, not mandatory, this is important so players aren’t forced to take it against their will.
Thoughts?
They removed the mist form trigger.
