I have no sympathy for mesmers.
Ya, it was a visual culling bug. It will be fixed next patch.
Huh? If they don’t dodge roll out of your wells almost immediately I guess, lol.
Even if you try to immobilize them, any bunker worth a kitten will at least have a few ways to remove conditions.
If dungeons are what you’re after, don’t be afraid to go full power/prec/critdmg with ruby gems and 30/30/0/10/0, it’s actually the best if you want to finish them as fast as possible. daphoenix’s build is really good but that’s way more defensive and you’ll be lacking damage for such things like dungeons.
Staff, and dps in fire to your heart’s content, if you feel like supporting you can throw a healing rain onto your party, switch to earth, eruption and arcane wave for a pretty massive group heal. Aaand that’s all I know, I’m not a big staff user, lol.
When you feel confident enough you can try d/d or s/d for massive might stacks and watch your dps skyrocket.
Evasive arcana Nerf.
That’s all really
That thing was strong. Staff was fun back then.
They have good survivability compared to rangers/necros/eles when they’re built for damage (I know little about engis so I’m not gonna comment on them). And chances are 85% of the time a zerker thief/mesmer/warrior will utterly destroy a zerker ele/necro/ranger. Guardians are just good all around.
It may be true that bunkers are kind of uncounterable at the moment, but instead of nerfing their damage Anet could add a new stat like toughness penetration and force people to give up on another stat like precision if they wanna take down a bunker more reliably.
Well, some people find playing glass cannon thieves, mesmers and warriors fun, they find 2 shotting any squishy is fun.
I find bunkers fun. Because it’s the direct counter.
If you want Anet to remove bunkers as a viable alternative, they better make sure they do something about those classes I mentioned, especially thieves, it’s beyond me how they’re able to take down a target in less.than.a.second. and because of the on going and still not fixed rendering issue you’re not even able to see them at all!
And don’t tell me they “lack survivability”, they don’t, none of them, thieves have the most safe getaway mechanics (stealth, blinks), mesmers have clones, blink, and stealth. Warriors have invincibility, heavy armor and a kitten ton of HP. And here’s a shocker, bunker builds is inefficient for them (except maybe thief) and they’re the first ones to complain when they can’t take down a bunker in 2 seconds.
Now if only female charr voices had it too..
I don’t see the need to make summoned weapons so strong, right now they’re a niche skill that works in specific circumstances, like frost bow in AC, or Fiery Greatsword to run away. I’m fine with that personally.
They should just rework some staff skills and make it an actually useful weapon for pve.
So now ele should be left with an utility usable only in 5% of the whole game and an elite at 180s that you use as an escape…nice logic, it would appear less stupid if you’d just say" no don’t buff eles" rather than give us this clear example…of your intellectual capabilities
Woah did I hit a nerve or something? People really dare to go wild with this whole anonymity internet provides.
I said personally because it wouldn’t affect my own gameplay since I prefer my very own staff and d/d skills, they’d have to buff summoned weapons big time to make me go for it, way more than described in the initial post. It might not be true for someone else like the OP. I strongly suggest improving your reading comprehension skills before putting your fake glasses on and start spouting nonsense.
Good for You but I don’t like the idea of wasting an utility slot AND giving up 20 skills so that Bow is ALMOST only usable in AC …and you use GS to ESCAPE …
Rly …do you think THAT’S What they were going for with that elite ???
Lets give master of escapes ONE MORE escape ..and lets make him waste ELITE slot for it XD …
Elite for Escape …you’re a funny guy
I honestly don’t know what Anet was trying to accomplish with summoned weapons, but neither do you. When they were making heavy AoE skills for staves maybe they thought it would be a popular weapon for WvW and they wanted to give staff eles better escape mechanisms. Or maybe it was intended to do heavy damage and nothing else, who knows. I don’t use FG myself, but i know for a fact that a lot of peeps use it to escape exclusively.
As I said, they’d need to overbuff summoned weapons to make them viable in comparison with the rest of our elites, and when designers give power to something, they often take it away from something else, or else it’ll feed the most used argument you see against eles “they’re just too good at everything”.
In my opinion as far as fixing PvE for eles is concerned, outright buffing summoned weapons is not the right approach. It may help yes, but it wouldn’t fix it as your title suggests.

Oh the irony.
Well sure, you can just go and try to cc an ele who wants to get rid of your conditions without interruption.
How do you fear an Ele in mist form/earth armor?
Bad Eles try to heal out of the blue without some sort of coverage.
Only 2 cantrips can be used for escaping, and it’s not practical to do so.
Perma vigor? what do you spam all your cantrips at once?
Nobody uses Protetive Shield anymore.
Final Shielding is bugged and pops half the time, if you get bursted too quickly it most likely won’t work (and i’m not talking about getting 2 shot here).
You don’t get enough trait points to get the luxury of having an extra shocking aura.
Hehe, Water Elemental is fun to use while holding points, that is if his heal doesn’t get canceled by the cc galore flying around. Most of the time I’d rather use Fire Ele to make up for the dps I lack.
Bottom line, my only complaint is the Final Shielding bug.

0,o I’ve yet to come across a d/d build that requires any trait point in fire at all.
s/f is incredibly fun if you wanna mess around with it in WvW with guildies :P
And s/d became boring for me once people figured out that red circles are bad for you.

the dam generic mage-style class is the best bunker LOL)
I find bunker Eles far from generic, if anything they’re pretty fresh. I always loved tanky mages but every game was attached to the idea of this squishy wizard that can deal a ton of damage and dies in 2 hits.
It doesn’t matter how low it is when you cal refill it in 3 seconds every 15 seconds :-P
I’m happy with things staying the way they are, but if they truly are nerfing bunker eles I sure hope they give us a viable dps route.
Battle Sigils were worth like 30 silver before bunker eles became popular
Tybalt? he always sounded like he was choking while talking. I liked it though, differentiates Charrs from other races, especially humans. And it makes sense.
We get more condition removal than ER though, ER is just overkill.
In the worst case scenario there’s nothing stoping you from RtL’ing away until it’s back up.
Yeah, if you’re going against an Ele as a Necro you better pray that Ele doesn’t have Ether Renewal. Immune to conditions = no damage from necros. You can cancel the first one with fear, but ER has 15s cooldown compared to the 20s of Doom.
Unless you use staff as OH which gets rarer each day. And still not reliable.
Most of the suggestions people are giving is capitalizing on the Ele’s mistakes, even if it’s a good tip, you can’t guarentee it’ll happen.

I don’t see how you’ll ever manage to burst down a 3 cantrip Ele, which is basically what every single bunker build is about, no matter what you run, best advice I’d give you if you’re alone is to just ignore him and focus on higher priority targets/objectives. Just remember that most if not all of their damage is AoE.
If you’re in a premade you can easily shut them down with a bit of coordination and focus fire.
btw, the ele in the first vid isn’t d/d, and the second one wasn’t fighting back. And none of them are bunkers.

Charr >.>
Because Eles with pistols.
Staff was fun before EA got nerfed to dust.
Is there a point using staves in dungeons anymore? Before the change you could support like a madman and it was fun, but now you only have 2 finishers that can’t be used at once.
Daggers just outclass staves for anything that isn’t WvW…
I’m willing to bet that if you leave a corpse with a rare item in it and don’t pick it up, you get the item through a box (kinda like daily rewards).
Are you sure that your problem isn’t latency related?
Seems like it’s basically the same, I’m glad they corrected that Arc Lightning bug, it’s been annoying me since the very beggining.,
Or maybe I skipped it? Would someone point it out for me in case I did?
There’s been serial killers whose childhood were completely adorable and naive.
I fail to see the interaction between repulsion and “thick skin”, more so on kids. Most of the transformation and military training occurs during puberty anyway, so I’m willing to bet they’re similar to human children until their teens as far as attitude is concerned.
Man, Tybalt was special =[
I’m trying to decide whether to come back or not and this is the key question.
edit: sorry, i didn’t want to make it sound like an ultimatum but this is really important to me.

Here’s a pic that’ll clear up some doubts, but yeah, most of them are cooks and homekeepers it seems.
WARNING: If you’re a female Charr in the Blood Legion this might be a bit of a spoiler.
@Conncept.7638 Lol, quit being so literal, I wasn’t stating anything I was just trying to get my point across.
I’m pretty sure they balanced our damage around having 4 targeted CCs and a pretty powerful Elite (or at least used to be).
Well you could use your elite to stomp without getting interrupted.
Nice, kinda makes me wanna undust my scepter and revive some old combos.
With Ele you can’t even spec 10 into Fire :p
Need at least 50 pts into Arcane/Water if you wanna compete at all, 10 into wind if you’re D/D and now you have only 10 points to go nuts and personalize a bit.
Is it ever worth it to go full glass cannon in any class? and by that I mean zerker + 30/30.
Maybe thieves could get away with it but I honestly would never see it work well against anything that isn’t a dummy or mobs.
Aside from bugfixes and such: More damage. On everything.
I’d hate to make it sound so simple. I have a 80 warr, engie, and thief already and I’m loving the ele the most by far. But.. yeah.. more dmg pls, Anet.
You need to be more specific. Anet just added some stuff to D/D to make that a more viable spec so thats in passable shape now. S/D and Staff need work though. Staff in particular has some stuff that does not synergize well in the Air and Water lines. Fire is probably better off than all other attunements on any weapon while Air and Water are vastly better on D/D or S/D while in Staff they do not stack up nearly as well.
Not a water ele I assume :p
You’d be surprised at the damage you can put out in wind att, it’s actually pretty kitten high unless there’s only 1 mob or they’re close enough to get hit by the same fireball.
No Attunement is weak when it comes to Staff IMO, now S/D is another history.
D/D is pretty balanced overall, it has good dps (not burst) and sustain, but lacks spike damage.
That’s weird, I always try to play races that are the least humanly looking possible, because hey I’m already a human and we’re a pretty boring race already.
I wonder why people like playing something so… similar to what they already are. Boring.
Didn’t know people still spent 1 point on fire.
Racial skills are all pretty weak overall (except maybe some Human ones), I guess they didn’t wanna make it so it’s mandatory to play X class with Y race.
Mist form does make you immune to new conditions while active.
It doesn’t remove previous ones however.
Cantrips should remove alllll the conditions
Good quality balance right there.
The main problem thieves have is Cloak and Dagger, whoever came up with that skill and endless traits to mitigate iniciative costs needs to get fired.
I really doubt that’s the main reason, I find Divinity’s Reach and Rata Sum unbelievably hard to explore, however the Black Cit is as clear to me as the back of my hand, only because my first 2 toons were Charr.
Imo the real reason is, as unpopular as it is, people just want to look pretty, 80% of the population are human female.
Also: Charr armor clips everywhere.
(edited by Daharahj.1325)
Elite Elements are actually pretty powerful, but it’s pretty much our only alternative unless you’re a Charr, so I welcome more variety.
Right now the only thing I want fixed is RtL, seriously, that one thing would make me happy.
