You’ve lost your Obsidian Sanctum virginity. Congrats on making a thief rage once you’ve beaten it.
On a serious note, just be prepared for the occasional gankers and so on. And yeah, bring a friend.
Well grats Ash condi ele has become popular or blackgate just so happens to like condi ele. I never seen so many Diamond skin condition elementalist since this week. I can’t do anything on my necro until someone breaks it. Blackgate seems to like D/F though for their condi ele builds. The spec I see them running is 0/4/6/0/4.
Good to see condi eles come out of their shells.
Are you talking about duels?
I’m guessing maybe duels, and roaming. Definitely not zerging.
I guess since my character is Sylvari I can use the Sylvan Hound elite to get them below 90%. Even though I use it I’m not even sure it does a lot of damage since I only use it for poison and bleeding. I’ll have to test it somehow to see how much damage it actually does.
I’m not even full condition ele. I’m a hybrid so I have a little bit of dps, but I am still unable to kill other eles who use Diamond Skin against me. DS eles with average amount of healing power and one or two warriors that I’ve faced are the only ones I’ve been unable to beat continuously.
I haven’t actually unlocked the Stone Heart trait as of yet just because I’m a lazy git and cant be bothered, lol. I will try it today for sure and hopefully I’ll choose it over WIS.
Pity ele condition builds are so bad
The last person that said that i beat in a 1 Vs 1, They are far from bad. It just takes the right build and playstyle to bring the best out of them, sure we lack damaging conditions at the base of the class but that can be changed with ruins and sigils.
Ele is also the kind of class that you can make a few trait changes and be able to combat a different enemy build. Is it as strong as the other condition based classes? In some ways maybe not but its better in other ways. It is how you choose to build it that defines how good it might become.
To add to this post I’d like to give an example. My build relies on the 30 in earth for the grandmaster traits. Depending on who I fight (condi or dps builds) I can switch to Diamond Skin or Written in Stone and do really well against them. I fully agree with Ash in saying a simple trait change can be advantageous for us when fighting against difficult builds.
Some of you may say “oh diamond skin, such a noob no skill at all”, it doesn’t matter. It is a perfect counter to certain builds and why would I not take advantage of it? It’s here for a reason and I plan on making full use of it.
When I use it it lasts for a very long time since your healing abilities (except main heal) also affects the hound so it heals with you. From previous fights I’ve seen warriors try to target it first, but lose all sense of awareness while I freely use Churning Earth so the Sylvan Hound can prove to be a great distraction while also being useful.
Frustration in the air
Everywhere I look around
Frustration in the air
Every sight and every sound
And I don’t know if I’m being foolish
Don’t know if I’m being wise
I was messing around in Obsidian Sanctum again. This time I wanted to try staff with my condition build and signets. Never used staff in duels or played serious/competitively with it except for group fights in wvw; completely different situations.

Wouldn’t this be a better option though? Slightly more power, condition dmg, ferocity, and hp. Little less healing power and toughness.
If were going along those lines then wouldn’t this be a lot more helpful?

Same trait setup but instead of Strength runes I use Hoelbrak for the -20% condi duration along with -40% condi duration food (a lot cheaper too).
Sure I’m missing out on “+7% damage while under the effects of might”, but I’ve found these reductions to be a life saver. Plus my dps hasn’t suffered at all, I still hit big numbers.
If you’d like you can switch out one trait line and add it towards water for aura share if you’re looking for more group support. That’s what I’m doing at the moment.
I kill them dead 1st before they get thier condi dump off.
Zerk stance ?lbF1 ?pindown ?AA ? rush ? 100blades ?whirlwind ? bladetrail.
They are usually dead before or after 100blades.
And what if they know how to dodge?
Asura have advantages in pvp because the skill animations are far too small to notice. I don’t know much about Asura racial skills other than the golems that they can summon, but for Sylvari we use Take Root, Summon Sylvan Hound and Summon Druid Spirit.
Take Root is really beneficial for condition builds (stacks bleeding) and if you want the extra survivability (3 sec invuln).
Summon Sylvan Hound is immune to conditions, poisons and bleeds foes. Also good for condition builds.
I wouldn’t recommend using Summon Druid Spirit in actual combat as the cooldown for this skill is really too much. (240 secs)
Druid Spirit applies regeneration, immobilizes and draws conditions. Not sure if this works for allies too since it’s not specified, but as I said this elite isn’t really good.

We need new condi elites for ele @@@@@@@@@@ listen to us a-netttttttt
Seeing that elite skill in action makes me question my decision on making a sylvari .
Then again… I do have seed turrets.
Yeah you’d be lucky if you hit Fire Grab at all but what grinds my gears is how I’m super close to the enemy and Magnetic Grasp misses… How… What… Why… just f#ck it -.-
That pressure. Well done.
-40% condi reduction food doesn’t really do much if you’ve got +40% increase on. It’s just like playing without food buffs. DS is a pain in my butt when used against me.
Ash, destroy him
Maybe I should link my naked condi ele fights.
Your guys’ hatred for Thieves is a bit overblown.
I don’t particularly hate thieves, but which class likes to pick off eles as much as they do?
It’s challenging and extremely satisfying when you win. I don’t mean catching them off guard because you’re condi, but when they know this and still lose to a condi ele.
Being a DPS/celestial/strength-rune-user whatever ele is all nice and good, but I don’t want to be playing the same build as everyone else right now. Being a hybrid/full condi ele is rewarding for me and probably some others in this thread see that too.
I don’t get the joke. What’s funny? Condition eles are good
“Condition eles are good” <-this is the funny part
They are. Have you played one before?
nope but I played against some of those few times and my sceptre fresh air burst ele just wrecked em without any trouble
the thing is the fact that you can do it doesnt mean you should as there are plenty of other ele builds which perform way better in pvpcondition necros and engies perform nicely in pvp because they got kittenload of damage conditions to apply whereas with ele it is just mainly burning so all that condition damage stat you stack for conditionalist build or whatever you call it is going to waste on just burning when instead you could get more other stats to for example enhance all of your damage instead of just burning
It’s not about the burning. Think about the bleeding you produce, poison and torment you apply from sigils and confusion runeset. Spvp is just boring.

Play condition ele. More of a challenge and surprises players especially if you’re using Perplexity.
Wouldn’t it be better to use Sigil of Ice instead of Geomancy if you’re looking to chill all the time?
CONDIMENTALISTs are effective if you run the right build, I mean, I see people trying signets, elemental surge, the freaking FGS…… That just doesn’t work.
I’m not sure about 1vX situations but when I fight in the OS I’m using Signet of Fire as a distance attack to put the pressure on, and I haven’t had any problems. If there is a player that I see as a threat and signets wont work on them I switch to GoEP.
When I made my ele condi-based I gave up on power builds. So refreshing to play something other than DPS ele.
I don’t get the joke. What’s funny? Condition eles are good
PERPLEXITY!
Tried Krait, was decent but 6/6 was on elite which I barely used sometimes so meh. Tried Balthazar, wasn’t all that. Switched back to Perplexity and lovinnnnnnnnnnnn’ it.
I like threads like these. Makes me happy to be an ele.
Lots of fun and action with d/d condi elementalist.
Hahaha. Next challenge will be conjures only?
Clap your hands and sing the happy song
I posted a video before of me fighting naked for a laugh so I thought I’d do it again. This time I’ve hopefully fought against some decent players since my opponents before were bad, lol. If you die to a naked person you are bad anyway
I tried using s/d once against the thief. May have messed up a few times, but we all make mistakes right?
My ele seems to be a masochist…
Would you guys recommend me sticking with d/d? I can try d/f sometime, I heard that’s fun.
Are there any players that use s/d when using a condition build of some sort? I’ve been using d/d my entire elementalist life when it comes to small-scale, but I want to learn how to play with a scepter.
If possible, can someone link a video of someone using s/d for a condition build? Just so I can work my way around rotations and such.
Thanks!
Let’s put it this way: since the first month after launch.
P/D thief impossible to kill still
Those are the thieves that give the most satisfaction when they’re downed/dead. I get all tingly inside knowing their conditions don’t mean sh#t
If you don’t experiment with the class how are you going to find out what suits you the best? We can’t just tell you what to do or use.
And no, there are plenty of eles that prefer to use other setups like d/f or s/d. Some even use s/f, but that’s just not for me.
I agree. It became clear as the fight progressed that he/she had no idea what they were doing. Even the Gold Invader rank didn’t seem to help despite the amount of hours/experience put in to get it XD. Maybe those two were alt classes, maybe not.
I don’t want to be the bad guy here!
I’m also thinking of switching to the changed Krait rune. Perplexity is fun but I need something new now. One thing that is off-putting about going for elite-based runes is the fact that the elites I am able to use have a ridiculously long cool down.
Summon Druid Spirit – 240 sec (racial)
Summon Sylvan Hound – 180 sec (racial)
Conjure Fiery Greatsword – 180 sec
Take Root – 150 sec (racial)
Glyph of Elemental – 120 sec
I see the Krait runes benefiting classes that have a lower cooldown for their elite skills like Thieves, Warriors and possibly Necromancers if they don’t summon their Flesh Golems pre-fight. Although I could be wrong, I would still like to give it a try… when I have money, haha.
For me, I consider Take Root to be a very handy elite skill to have. Good for survivability and the extra bleeds whenever you need it. I personally have never used Reaper of Grenth or a Human character as thoroughly as I have with my Sylvari so I cant make an assumption on the abilities of that skill.
It is indeed a shame we don’t have one directly for the elementalist, but I am really lucky to have chosen the Sylvari race for my ele. Been on this char for a good year and more and love every second of it!
Only have one legendary and the others are skins.
Legendary = Celestial with Geomancy
Exotic = Apothecary with Torment
Accessories are also Apothecary and Celestial.
Thanks for the feedback! I was mostly expecting some negative comments and maybe about them being bad, something along those lines. Cheers!
My friend and some others challenged me to fight a Thief and his re-rolled PU Mesmer, naked. No armor on and only to use trinkets/weapons.
The thief fight is slightly boring so you can skip to the 2:40 mark.
Either the Thief/Mesmer was really bad or I did well for myself
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYy_Vyeg07g
It was quite fun either way!
I love burning.
facepalm come on PT member… we are better than this.
I’m using both the Diamond Skin and Written in Stone traits; DS for condi classes and WIS for non-condi. I was using the Generosity sigil, but I realised there’s no point using it when I’m using Diamond Skin so I bought another weapon with Sigil of Torment.

Very nice 25 stacks of might.
