There is a lot of talk about how the elementalist is just a heal-bot and has no other working build—well, I beg to differ.
Some of you may know me. I have been using this condi ele build for two years after getting bored of d/d and the constant nerfs to the class. This build is a lot of fun and in the past, I have tried to showcase it here on the forum, but I guess it had a minimal effect.
Sure it has some issues like stab, but don’t let that frighten you. This build is amazing.
I don’t record much, but here are a few scenes that are both old and new. The quality is a little meh and I apologise for that.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7V0eNLg_Eo
This is me, but it could also be you. Be a condi ele pioneer like me and break the meta.
Been happening to me as well as soon as I log in or begin fighting shortly after that. It’s getting ridiculous now. Can’t do anything without disconnecting or have insane lag spikes.
weaver condi ele will be a thing and i will make it great.
With the vitality Weaver trait we can finally use different amulets that don’t rely on it. Viper, Berserker and all the others won’t be out of the question and this might be the first time we’ll have actual build diversity (amulet-wise) in a very long time.
Weaver still seems like it’ll be heavily reliant on Water traits though.
I for one am excited for condi Ele to finally be viable (hopefully.)
We can either play a full condi build with Trailblazer etc. or with the new Grieving stat which is Power/Precision/CondiDMG/Ferocity. If we play with the latter, we would have high dmg and condi, but we’ll need to find a way to fit the vitality, toughness and healing power in. Celestial seems like a good choice—maybe apothecary and shaman. Also, one Weaver trait gives like 120+ vitality or something (not sure) so that’s one thing we can use.
I wished WP would have shown us the dagger and focus mixed skills as well. Wasn’t really interested in scepter.
CONDI ELE HYPE BOYS
THE DREAM IS REALYeah that should actually sort of work now…I’m mildly shocked.
I will make a build and video if we’re able to play it next week. My two and a half years of playing condi ele will not fail me now!
Also, the new Grieving stat is amazing and I can’t wait to utilise it.
CONDI ELE HYPE BOYS
THE DREAM IS REAL
I’m wondering if Support meta Elementalists have too much going for them. They have strong AOE overloads, along with strong heals and shout condition removals. In many matches, one Ele player can get Top Damage, Top Kills, and Top Heals. I know Anet balances this game a lot, so it makes me wonder how one player can do so much on both offense and defense. Shouldn’t a player only exceed in one aspect for balance sake?
Instead of wondering if support eles have too much going for them, you need to start wondering why our other builds aren’t successful.
Nobody wants to play this dead meta build that you are trying to demean, but there are hardly any choices left for the masses to use. There are a select few, including myself, that are trying to stay away from this and find a new path, but when there is little help from the creators, there is only so much we can achieve.
And of course, let’s not forget—when someone attempts to play something different in ranked that is not support/healing, they are automatically branded as bad or “noobs” and this is all because of the narrative Arena-Net has created. You have pushed this class into the trinity aspect that you allegedly didn’t want to happen, but here we are.
It is time to do something useful with the class and you all know it.
(edited by Dahir.4158)
I play as a Condi Ele and this is my first time PvPing. I got placed in high Gold almost Plat. I have only been playing for 3 months, so dont know how the previous seasons were, but as a Condi Ele sometimes I dominate the field, sometimes Im getting my booty handed to me.
Me too, but it’s not my first time. I have been playing condi ele for more than 2 years and I’m currently in Platinum. I will never play such a boring meta build that focuses only on healing. That is not what the ele was designed to do.
Where is the build diversity we were promised?
Removal of damage sigils (including Earth/Geomancy) was a bigger impact than the removal of sustain sigils.
No one cares more about sustain sigs except for maybe Ele. Even then, they’re fine on a good Nec comp where aoe damages and Nec support matter a bit more than an Ele self sustaining himself.
The removal of Sigil of Geomancy nerfed my non-meta condi ele build so now the only viable/working spec is support. I still won’t play that crap, though. I’m waiting for the so called “build diversity” ArenaNet promised.
I see your viewpoint, when I used to play condi ele I relied on Fire GoEP for damage too. However try coupling Arcane Power with GoEP in Fire attunement while casting a skill from another attunement.
Yes, I know that works, but after your 5 attacks hit what then? The old one was 2 stacks every 5 seconds for 30 seconds and I think that was better instead of this 1 stack.
GoEP had its recharge reduced from 45 to 25 lol, how was it nerfed?
Also you guys feel like only ele got nerfed, fortunately every class pretty much got nerfed with sigil removals and skill removals.
It now has 1 stack of burn instead of 2 plus it only has 5 charges instead of using the 5-second cooldown interval. The old GoEP was way better for the Fire Attunement version, but this one is completely unusable.
The 5-second cooldown system was better because it allowed the continued use of the skill over a period of time while applying pressure from others, whereas this new one is a simple 5 strike attack. I enjoyed being able to use skills from other attunements while the burn effect was in use. Sadly, this new change has made the utility pretty lackluster and I’m not the only one that thinks so.
Thanks for ruining a decent glyph skill.
So you buffed Glyph of Elemental Power before and made it good, but then decided, “oh wait, let’s just nerf it again.”
The fire trait change is a joke. Who even uses One with Fire? Just bring back Fire’s Embrace already and then we can have some real build diversity and not this dismal attempt you guys are calling balance.
Fair play on Arcane Power—you’ve made that somewhat usable. The only things that are left now are the conjures, signets and traits. You know what to do.
It only need elemental surge, arcane power and some random moves, I use it with Overload Fire in my hybrid build.
I’m waiting for the build..
You need to make it worth it is to run condi dmg gear / weapons condi duration food etc.. arcain line tempest line and more then likely fire line. You need arcain power some other arcain move signet of fire and glyph of elemental power the heal can be any thing but more then like you want to run it arcain too as for the eleit fire GS is your best bet. As for wepon scpter is best chose with off hand any thing. You can get away with main hand dagger but its super riskily. You cant run staff. You will NEED to camp fire atument all day effectually forgetting 3/4 of your class in doing so.
Tell me how is this not all in? For ele to pull this off well your going to need to not use most of your skills spam 1 all day and use your utility as soon as they come up with no realty rotation or timing.Other class at least get to use there off hand effects and there utility more then just mindless spam. Ele to be viable as things stand you nearly have to forget most of your atuments as in they become pass over atuments that you happen to have and only jump in for a sec to use one or 2 skills or non at all. If you sat down and gave ele one atument but cdr and other + effects the ele class would be better off then having all 4 of its atuments because of just how bad Anet has messed up with the ele class.
I mostly play staff support ele in wvw (its a bit of an odd ball build but i am getting crazy lag spikes in wvw these days so i need more passive heals then any thing) and i sit in water all day long fire and air are mostly pass overs earth to a point too. My ele would be better if i just had water atument and another wepon set. Atuments are more getting in the way of playing ele as a class then helping.
Pure burning monster.
one look from a mesmer or necromancer and you would die
I’m stuck in a game which has ended and cannot leave.
Ah, I see. Thanks. I forgot about that.
Is it possible to use Tempest and the new spec together with another trait-line or just one of them?
If so, would our class icon be a mix of the two specializations or something?
Because I am the shepherd, not the sheep.
This also applies to Mist Form as well. The stacks disappear once you leave it.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fire's_Embrace
Pretty please.
I think in EU WvW the best elementalists are Seven, Gokil and me, in no particular order. What makes it even cooler is that we all play very different builds at a very high level.
I don’t think I’ve seen any other ele that’s caught my eye in WvW. This excludes zerging eles btw. Anyone can be good at that.
well the nice part would be the chaos armor :-). Of couse sending conditions will be great but not so fitting for ele. I also prefer more offense so instead of resistance:
Gain chaos armor and send out a wave of energy puting a random condition on all enemies stuck and random boon on all allys. (600 rad). If this is not powerful enough i would like a lower CD of 45 sec.
Alright. You said something about not fitting the ele, so what about combining all the active signet effects into one elite? With some changes, of course.
My other idea was for the elite signet to allow the other signet utilities to be aoe as the passive or something.
Elite signet:
CD: 60s
Passive: +20% condi duration
Active: gain chaos armor (which is an aura) and 5 sec resistance. This one sounds nice or ?
I guess the passive effect is okay, but the active sounds a little boring. Resistance sounds nice, but I would rather have more conditions available through the elite skill rather than having that boon. And when I say more conditions, I want more than three or four (like how Warriors have four on Skull Grinder and that’s not even an elite skill).
I want one, too. Rebound is boring and doesn’t help me roaming-wise when I can kill the majority of players without losing much health.
Give us a nice signet elite skill that works hand in hand with Written in Stone, and bring back Fire’s Embrace while you’re at it.
We don’t want some boring one either like Signet of Water or Air, but something along the lines of Plague Signet where we can send conditions back to our foes. Mesmers can do it. Necromancers can do it. Why can’t Elementalists? (funny how mesmers have a skill that can do it called Arcane Thievery and eles have a whole trait-line based on Arcane yet still can’t do it)
(edited by Dahir.4158)
lol sorry seven
fire aura on signets combined with tempest. Oh my it would be so great …
how do you play condi ele ? which weapon and amulets ? i tried sc/focus with sage amulet but probably i did something wrong… my condi chronomancer seemed to me much stronger than condi ele … but perhaps i did something wrong
Sigil of Greater Nullification
Your next attack after swapping to this weapon while in combat removes 2 boons from your target.
(Cooldown: 18 Seconds)
Make this sigil remove resistance first and at least make the cooldown 12 seconds long. That’s something I can live with.
It would be a very nice sigil for Elementalists as we don’t have any boon-removing skills ourselves and the healing meta isn’t helping either. We might actually feel like we’re doing something for once!
However what would be ideal would be to have an amulet that deals condi and power damage and a bit of sustain.
uhh…sage?
Why has sage amulet not been mentioned even once in this topic?
There’s only one problem with it, and that’s that you can’t use fresh air with it.
Sage is my one true love
I still remember when you could heal, use utilities and elite while using Mist Form as well as being able to jump+RtL. Good times.
No… Elementalist is lacking in general.
Nonsense, the only thing you’re obligated to use metabuilds for are raids, raids need the higher numbers and that spot can only be occupied by ONE build.
Don’t bring PVP into this because there’s a lot of viable builds in and especially out of metabattle, and the rest of pve and WvW is the same.
Not really. In PvP, you can try to use other builds as I do that aren’t meta and people will cry about it because it’s not “support”. Most classes will destroy you because you don’t have the legendary Mender’s amulet or shout utilities.
WvW is different. You can roam with whatever because the stats there are different and can compensate a little for it, but the build variation for the Elementalist is quite poor.
ArenaNet wants to promote build diversity for all classes, yet the Elementalist is stuck with the same meta build for a long time. Others, as well as myself, have been trying hard to break the meta by coming up with different builds such as a workable Fresh Air build or a condition damage build, but are restricted by the pointless trait-lines that could very well promote the build diversity we all want.
For example, on June 23 2015, the Power Overwhelming master-tier trait was added to the game by replacing the former trait called Fire’s Embrace.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fire's_Embrace
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Power_Overwhelming
I don’t know about you guys, but I think PO is a very underwhelming trait to have in the Fire trait-line. With Fire’s Embrace, there would no doubt be a change in the builds we could be able to use, and now with the introduction of Tempest, the formerly used trait would synergise well with Invigorating Torrents and Cleansing Water.
Signets have been in the game from the start, but are rarely used in a PvP format because the activation on them were laughable. Thankfully, changes were made on the Signet of Earth and Fire, and have been somewhat usable in some builds, but the same cannot be said for Air and Water which have been left in the dust since the start of the game.
If the FE trait were to be brought back into the game, unchanged, we could possibly be able to play with new builds that wouldn’t be extremely boring as the “Auramancer”.
Now that PvP has come into the conversation, do you really think the base health of 11,645 for an Elementalist is justifiable with the sudden “power creep” in the game? This is why people stick to the Mender’s amulet in PvP.
What use is there to use another amulet that doesn’t include vitality only to be killed in a matter of seconds by other classes with better base stats? Increase the vitality and toughness of this class and just maybe there’ll be some form of change in the way the player-base plays.
Conjures: the shameful son of the Elementalist, unwanted and neglected since its birth. Frost Bow is dead, Lightning Hammer is usable in PvE (maybe) and Earth Shield is a lost cause. What is the Flame Axe by the way and what is its purpose?
Good work on the GoEP + GoEH buff, although Glyph of Storms could use some work. Haven’t really seen that skill used in action since the first year of GW2.
I would really like to see an ArenaNet response to this thread and many other threads on this site instead of having to see them on Reddit. Contribution goes a long way.
Give me your thoughts on this, my fellow Elementalists. Who knows, we may even see some changes if we give them.
Some additional info: I have played as an Elementalist for 9,254 hours over the past 1,597 days with many different builds. The class is very enjoyable to play, but could be much more if certain changes were made.
(edited by Dahir.4158)
too squishy. you wouldn’t last 1 min with that in ranked pvp.
Did… did you read the first paragraph? The first 3 sentences? Oh, okay.
1. I did read it.
2. Too squishy
3. I play condi ele myself and only my build is the best build. s/f will never work
too squishy. you wouldn’t last 1 min with that in ranked pvp.
current meta is kitten. sage amulet is the best, use it and embrace the condi ele meta.
greatest condi ele build in the world
use wisely
You think “Feel the Burn” is better then the buffed active on signet of fire?
I haven’t tried buffed SoF while roaming yet so I don’t know for sure. I used to use FtB for the heals on aura, plus the vigor/regen with Invigorating Torrents. [/quote]
I didn’t use Arcane for the boons. I used it for Evasive Arcana, especially the dodge rolls in Fire and Water. The cooldown on Arcane Shield isn’t that long—it’s only 60 seconds and it’s a real life saver. I also used Arcane for the condi cleanse together with the Water traits. I could cleanse two conditions when swapping to Water… that’s more than enough reason tbh.
warrior with almost perma resistance and stability
A class carried by resistance.
(edited by Dahir.4158)
There’s no doubt about it. D/F Mender’s is still superior to everything else in PvP. I’ve been toying around with this build, but it’s…meh at best I find.
It doesn’t heal well and there’s no power, but weakness is nearly permanent and burning does good damage, but that’s all it has running for it. There’s no bang with it. Overload Air is only useful for the aura, vulnerability and lightning field. And just like with every Ele build right now, it’s super prone to CC, even with HC. It’s the best condi build I could make up using GoEP. I’m going to try it with Viper’s and probably be disappointed, but will try it anyway. I can see Viper’s working with good teammates who can back you up, but I can see good enemies taking you down just as quickly.
You’re trying too hard to play condi with Nightmare runes and Torment/Leech sigil—those aren’t gonna help you win, especially the amulet with no vitality on it.
I think I told you already in the [ele] guild chat, but Sage is the way to go. If you want to play condi then use my build. This is the best condi build.
https://tinyurl.com/condibuild123
What you need to do with this build is pin them down with Signet of Earth and use Fire #4 (it helps to use the Snap function in options so the Fire #4 skill lands on the player). After you’ve used those two skills, you’re free to burst with Cleansing Fire and your Evasive Arcana dodge roll in Fire. Feel free to save your GoEP for something else; it’s entirely up to you.
If you want proof, here’s me roaming with it in wvw (GoEP is not used here, but still the same build. I used Feel the Burn instead.)

You condi guys are just… im laughing..
Do you really condi is not op? do you really think nobody runs condi clear??
The Thing is: the condi cleanse System is kittenty and also the condi covering is deadly.
The condi thief/ condi mesmer mechanic is facerolling.
A new Player can kill an experienced Player just because of the build. And then you are defending your condi build and say such kittenty things?
Ure just funny.
If you’re that upset, just reroll to a Warrior and let the Resistance carry you.
Simples.
Also, condi ele ftw.
Good initiative!
Name: Sylvari Boss Broski (old name Broski Supreme)

Other info: I mainly specialise in WvW roaming with condition ele, but I will be happy to help you create a power build for zergs and guild raids.
“buffed again” lol?
I already have a ranger, thief, and engi. What else would be good for condi roaming/dueling?
ele
ele dream rip
people jumping on the condi ele hype train—about time.
and for the record, GoEP is aoe.
Superior Rune of Balthazar + Signet of Fire + Glyph of Elemental Power + Cleansing Flames.

Edit: I am so making a new build right now.
