Before reset i was at 98% i think..Close to 90% for sure..
After reset and after winning 1-2 and losing 1-2, still the same % of wins-lose i went down to 17%?
I played 1-2 weeks after the reset..
I dont know but it seems kinda unfair to me..
Still Mesmers arent the weakest class for sure..
They are pretty strong, there were other things that kept em out of teams..You think that a Mesmer is squishy, have low cond removal and unforgiving?
Try out a Power Ranger and you will see what a truly unforgiving build is like..
The time you touch the zerker amulet with an Ranger you get instant 5000 dmg in every pvp match you joining
I dont think, finding 1 build which is weaker than a whole profession, makes this a valid argument.
My point is that Mesmers can pick Zerker amulet and have more sustain and damage than a Ranger with Zerker Amulet..
Every meta build Rangers had so far was with defensive cond based amulets and with the Empathetic Bond as a must..30 points investement in a defensive traitline..
Thieves-Warriors-Mesmers-Ele can pick Zerker Amulets and jump in teamfights, you have no idea what a priviledge this is..
Hey guys ive been experiment with some alt builds in sPvP..
Im tired of spirits-BM, Traps are still fun to play but every spec relies on cond dmg..
Well the only thing holding me back is the cond removal..You need the Empathetic bond-Healing spring and Signet of Renewal to have some sustain against heavy cond classes..
So i want to ask. Why?
Why Anet hasnt yet introduced some active removal to Rangers?
I would be ok if Empathetic bond transfered like 2 conditions instead and there was a cond removal trait in the 2 first traitlines..
I dont undestand why Mesmers can have Null field, in 40s cd, that also rips boons, that also is a field..And we have Signet of renewal in 60s cd (48s traited) that requires you to be next to the pet..I dont know if Mesmers in general have reliable cond removal but why not to make Signet of Renewal more reliable?
What is holding em back from giving us some fun playstyle?
Is that they are incompetent?
Or that they want us this way to be an easy passive class?

Actually after seeing a lot of “major” balance patches i believe that the “major” balance patch isnt coming cause Anet dont know, they cant, they are not good enough, name it whatever you like to bring a major balance patch..
If they try to make big impact changes probably they will destroy the game, they will make our PC explode or something..
So they make small not important changes..
Do you remember the “BIG” balance patch before 10dec, the one we had to wait cause the Pax event was on and players would be too “confused”..

And when they dont have some of these aspects in big amount they must have some other in god levels..
This game will never be balanced cause they ruined the balance a long time ago, they put something stupidily strong in some class and to make it even, they put stronger things in other classes..

You can have fun with Traps-BM even Power Ranger but every top team that has a Ranger is a spirit one..Just because it hasn’t become meta yet doesn’t mean it doesn’t have the potential, sPvP (especially solo qs) seems pretty ripe with screams of complaint about CC locking rangers, not to mention might stacking has recently become a very strong option for ranger ( I’ll be posting a build when I get home from work).
Trapper builds have remained totally unchanged and have just say in the same spot they always have, great at defending a point, great at 1v1s and 2v2s, not too much else though (granted you don’t need to be that good at anything else when you’re great at killing people in 1v1 point defense)
I hope you are right..Still Spirits will be the ultimate support build tho.

I tried too the build you suggested…Might stacking was bugging my mind before 10 dec patch..
But..The balance is kitten…Only strong-OP builds survive…Every class has a great OP-faceroll build and many other that are really balanced..
I remember a time when Warriors were totally balanced, they had the option to deliver huge amount of dmg but they needed support..“Go in do as much dmg as i can but squishy”.And now they got the Healing signet ticking for 400hp/s
Its not that they are not viable good builds out there for Rangers..Its just that balance is a mess..
And to be honest i liked that bald guy, its nothing personal…But Anet must consider what they have said and must take responsibilities and not hide behind “soon” and “things will get better in the future”..

When i did some tests and i figured out that in max range is better to autoattack than using rapid fire i realized how bad they had designed this weapon..
They are litterally forcing us for 1 year to autoattack targets. they made strong autoattacks and neglected for the other skills..

Low skill floor and low skill ceiling..The pets after 1 year still feel like a burden sometimes…

After you burn about 1 million braincells pressing 111111111 in Shortbow (wait, didnt the “animation glitch fix” supposed to fix this?) a new signet appears.
Signet passive: everytime you autoattack with Shortbow you have a chance to summon a random spirit, it will do nothing but it would be beautifull
Signet active: A Dev appears and thinks that Longbow dmg is too much, so every dmg you do with Longbow is reduced by 50%..
If you can play a Power Ranger you can play everything..

I running a Power Longbow Ranger right now and im totally destroyed every Hambow Warrior ive seen..I got 3 stunbreakers, better ranged dmg and 20sec of stability…He cant outheal my dps.And hes zerker, he takes a lot of dmg
Im not top lvl player so i will surely lose to a good Hambow Warrior but i think Power Rangers counter Hambow Warriors..
Just an example, doesnt mean that Power Rangers are the new meta.I dont know what the new meta will be..

Wanna know how? Because i killed whatever was after me before they could pile on too many conditions, and because i got something called “healing Spring” which is good even in solo situations. short-medium range longbow hits like wet noodle , now its a 20% stronger wet noodle .
Longbow will never work as a competitive weapon because of reasons.. which are :
1)it is a pure power weapon and thus …
2)it needs to do a lot of reliable damage in a short time frame , which it does not and…
3)even if it did the ranger has no innate sustain options like ele switching to water , thief stealth , guardian blocks/aegis , mesmer clones and stealth and whatnot … hence
4)you need to support it with utilities for damage avoidance all of which you have 2.5 (LR traited stone signet and protect me ), and EVEN if all of this worked…..
5)your damage is subtracted because you have a pet , and even if you take a dps pet to match other berserker builds in burst you cant make it hit reliably which….
6)pushes you towards a damage over time spec which is….
7)conditions as they are much more efficient at bunkering then power bunkers because you need 1 offensive stat at which….
8)the ranger is actually quite solid at !!!
Conclusion :
-LB is not a damage weapon , it is a utility weapon with nothing to support . The only real 2 options would be traps , which are bad and LB is not a condition weapon to my great grief ( at least a hybrid ) , and pets in a BM build at which both the axe/torch or shortbow are far superior as options
-ranger utilities being poor at saving yourself at clutch moments and having a pet damage penalty punishes pushing power stats making inefficient on rangerI hope this changes , I hope we get more options but as it stands we are pushed into a tanky support role that can duel reliably if condi bunker , for better or for worse . Traps are so last year because they got no boost while there was a major power creep with the other classes , especially since a major component of trapper got nuked ( shortbow mega nerf ) .

I think that the dmg from Longbow is totally viable. It doesnt hit like a wet nooble at all..
In my spvp experience i often see 3-4 k from autoattacks and 10k from rapid fire..
Also it got the best defensive-offensive mechanic in the game..Stealth.
Ppl keep underestimating the stealth, you should had played WoW were if you got hitted you lose stealth and in stealth you were moving 50% slower..
Barrage hits for like 800-1200, from 1500 range, with a safe after stealth cast, combined with river drakes F2 its a big deal guys…
Longbow requires to keep positioning yourself, thats why ppl are having a hard time with it imo..If you learn to play behind pillars you are totally untargetable while you can do dmg from a safe distance
Ive been using Longbow as main with Greatsword..Full zerker, 30/30/0/0/10 with percieng arrows, eagle eye, moment of clarity and Mighty Swap…
So far i have no problem at all destroying ppl..
Longbow actually now does some serious dmg and as long as you stay in a safe distance you have no problem at all..
The problem before was that 1500 range is an actually viable option in spvp..There are many things that can block your arrows, ppl hide behind pillars etc..
Now if you stay at 1000 range you have more reliable dmg from autoattacks, i often see 2,5k-3k dmg from this distance..
Using drakes F2 and Barrage i do serious dmg at 3-4 players fighting mid..
Also i dont know but i feel that conditions aint so much problem right now..
Using Signet of Renewal is enough for me now, i dont feel pressure to take Empathetic Bond..Ofc if i go in recklessly i will be destroyed but Longbow has defensive abilities..Stealth-Pushback at 900 range
Longbow is my Favourite weapon right now..Try it out friend…If you die some times dont blame Longbow, try playing with good position, try to keep always 500 distance with your target and always be infront you..If you turn your back and start to run you will die..Learn to disengage before they start to follow you..When you saw em coming at you use stealth and hide, they will leave you, they wont leave the point to tryhard and kill you..And if they do your teamates will cap the point…
Im having a great time with Longbow since patch..
Actual i wish that every skill was like this…

I want to practise in my class and then be able to do something that an unexperience player cant..

Power Ranger in spvp is defently more viable right now..Longbow mid range buffs make it more usefull to dps, Moment of Clarity is good, the stun now is worthy and the Mighty Swap is a nice + to have…
Power Rangers were lacking of cond removal but i can sense that conditions generally have been toned down in every class..

Its what jcbroe said actually..With the new spirit heal and the nerf to sun and storm spirit i think Anet is trying to make spirit build more supportive..They try to remove the offense and add more support.
In spvp the spirit build had survivability, offense and group support..I think its pretty logical to remove some of the offense and increase the support.
Still in this game i dont know if it worth to go support, the only support class i know is Guardian and only cause of aoe stability they give..
So Rangers should provide something else equal to aoe stability to be taken instead of a Guardian..Its a tough task cause it can be OP in other aspects of the game easily.
In the other hand they must increase the offense of other builds to not restrain Rangers in one build-role.From the changes i can see that Rangers wont have any other role, we will be worse than a Mesmer, Ele, thief in term of raw dmg-survivability…Those classes have many options into going in, deliver the burst and then draw back…Rangers must play totally perfect to do this, one little mistake and you are totally dead.No blinks, no immunities, nothing..
We will have to wait and see what this healing spirit can do…If it scales well with healing power i can see some potentials..We will see

The 1 chain attack is kinda random, you can make it more controlable by removing autoattack but still its kinda meh imo..
1 does no great dmg..All i want when i play with Greatsword is go in, deliver a maul and then go back..
I dont feel that staying in melee and autoattacking its better than staying max range with longbow or autoattacking with the Sword..
Every balance patch they did so far made the game even worse..
Still the meta needs a good shake for sure..

Maul is the hardest hitting skill in the game for Rangers..Its a waste to play totally defensively
First remove the evade from the 3rd chain attack..
Swoop as it is only now leaves a mark at the place you started
Every 3rd attack a buff opens that allows you to return to where the mark was from Swoop..
The idea is a risk/reward skill to a glassy power build..If you fail to deliver 3 attacks you wont be able to escape..
You go in deliver a Hilt-Maul combo 3 attacks and then you withdraw to safety to continue attacking with the Longbow..
Its a thiefy skill but i think it will opens more power builds..
