Except that’s not true at all. Ranger is the only class that’s significantly underpowered right now, and I’ve still seen some teams use it well. Necro, Engi and Ele are all regularly used.

Everyone knows Rangers are underpower.Even Devs admitted here and there.I wanted to know if there was any Ranger in the ladder.
Im a Ranger too and im starting to loosing the thrill for GW2,its not a complain its a honest statement.
And i dont want to play other proffesions

And i am a great supporter of pets in Ranger,just sometimes i cant do anything at all

Its ok 40% of the dmg to be made by our pets but we have to be able to fully control this dmg.I expect the pet to have the same intelligence as me.That is improving the totall logic of skill wins.I mean if pets are doing 40% of dmg and we cant bring out this 40% of dmg no matter what we do (cause pets will do what they have to do with no change of estimate the situation) wheres the point?

I think if the things Mr Peters mention is worked and some fixing with pets is done then we are ready to play again.
Pets,we need the pets so bad.Fix em plz,not remove em.We are not warriors but we need pets to be the less bad thing in our proffesion cause we rely too much on them

I didnt know it either.But recenlty a friend of mine moved in an American server and we cant pvp together now.Not even in 8v8 public games

Maybe the autoattack dmg is too big but i dont find a reason why now it should be so downed.And why spirits should be so nerfed.And why SB autoattack too.I just dont get it.I cant see any meaning,im sorry.Im not having fun now.

You got a point but still i think Rangers are in the worst place right now.Tournaments teams are like Thief Mesmer Warrior and their friends(any other random class that happens to be friends with the other 3 guys)

Ive seen a 6k number from my Jaguar.And many 4k
The thing is that the dmg is very good,and pets arent that bad to start with.
The problem starts when a thief is on me spamming HS and my pets does nothing,doesnt happens all the times but some times it happens.
Or i just jump from somewhere and my pet takes a long route all around the map to come where i am,so i have to waste a swap.
They need fix in the pathing and in their responce in attacking or returning to us

Thats what im saying, i usually only get hit for about 500 – 800 (which you can see a few of) but tonight every ranger i faced was using pets to my bane. I never have problems with them before. Was curious if anyone else was having this problem tonight. Quite annoying being knocked around with arrows and also killed in a few seconds by rapid shot / pet damage. But meh, good for the Rangers I guess.

Very intersting thread.But the silences from Devs says that theres no actual picture yet.
We need first to be fixed at Nov 15 patch.Then determine the course of pets (they are not i such a bad state imo but surely they are annoying when a thief is kittening me and the pet stands right next to me almost feeling that its rolling on floor laughing)

Y being the only class doing 16k dmg with one and only hit is very skillfull and fair for all the other classes.Try playing a Ranger and watch the movements and reactions of your pet in sPvP.Play full power-crit build and if you see a number bigger than 10k im giving you my account

Press F4 to swap to the snow leopard,press instant the F2 while you are in the effect of haste.Leopard jumps to where she faces,means random,depends from the way was her face when summoned

Im Dardamaniac and im a Ranger in the Far shiverpeaks Server.
My rank is 21 atm and im builded BM with most of my dmg done my pets
I speciallized in 1v1 and i can survive pretty well in a group fight.

L2p..pets arent useless.You are all just stucked with the previous mmo (cough…WoW…cough) you were playing and you wanted to play a clone proffession..
They got issues in pathing and avoiding some aoe dmg but they are awesome.
And just change your philosophy in pets.They are not a constant dmg over time in this game
In this game pets do a lot dmg as a reward for your skill.Thats why ppl whine all the time for pets and other things.
They dont improve their skills they want to be awesome just by playing and gathering gear

When you hit one target with autoattack from axe and theres no other target around the axe does 20% more dmg.I cant understand why the weapon have to be very good in aoe groups and lame in single target.

I cant understand why is the 2 skill in the Greatsword.Its obvious designed for some pretty good evasive playstyle.The damage aint so much worth of using and the bleed are eh.The traits are in Nature Magic line so aint for power or condition builds.
So instead of the existed skill 2 why not a skill with the same dmg and a buff while you are on it 20% of the damage you take goes to your pet

Before GW2 comes out officially i wanted to play a Ranger.I was watching videos in youtube and dreaming of the day that i will hold my Sword and Longobow and make my patch through the game.I dreamed of the day that i will support my friends carrying with me my beloved spirits.Or playing a strong pet build.
Everyday and after seeing comments like Jon Peters makes me dont want to play my Ranger.I say to myself “hold on,after a few days fixes will come and you will able to play the Ranger that you dreamed”.
But for now i just playing my necro.I know hes not totally fixed too but i saw some fixes in the previous patch so i geuss is a step closer
The only thing i saw in the previous patch and in the next one was promises..I have to wait more i geuss.

I dont get it.That means that we gonna see some fixes before patch mid Nov?

Ive heard it too for Nov 15.
I think that its not fair to be so much delayed.
I know that the previous patch didnt solve every prof bugs and issues but they made a step further.
The rangers stay in the same place and the paid tournaments have started.
Its not that rangers are broken or something but you must be fair with all prof
And i think that Anet hadnt handle it good with Rangers.
So much fog in the air.With other prof is more clear,they get buffs,they get nerfs every patch they have some pretty list of changes
We rangers see a little every patch..We get a stealth nerf and after this you would expect Anet state that “Rangers are ok , thats why we dont do much”.Instead Anet states that we true need some major chances-improvements

Actually ive tested this way myself.I was thinking.When attacks means any of the 5 weapon skills,that includes the bounces that axe make.So 3 bounces mean 35%35%35%=105%.So i always gonna have the protection buff.When i tested tho.I didnt had it all the time but ive noticed that it didnt happened random but at certain times.Every X secs i dont recall exactly.
So thats what i thought.It has a CD
The 35% chance aint that bad imo if we assume that its not only from auto attacks
The problem is that the spirits die easily and they dont give so much to be viable support

No im not.I dont expect anything till christmas or whatever.It was a very clever idea of opening the paid tournaments and replied that some Ranger skills are lackluster.I mean that made a lot of Rangers jump massively in the Paid tournaments and spending a lot of money in tickets…Even if Rangers had a chance now they are not

Anyone knows when the next patch will be on?I mean is there a standard date or just when its ready?

Hi i just started playing some Necromancer pvp and i liked it.I got a pretty nice cond build and im doing well at most.But when it comes at thiefs they totally nuke me.My main is a Ranger and i didnt had so much prob.Can you gimme some tips?

Actually some of us disagree with this.We are not claiming that they are broken but you still can live with it.We are saying that aint bad enough to be unplayble
Its like the example i gave with my nose diaphragm.If it was totally broken i wouldnt live.But as bad as it is now i can live normally and enjoy my life as anyone can.
And nothing is prefect,dont except total balance.Neither here nor anywhere

In my opinion the reason why ppl cant enjoy rangers is cause they are expecting a Hunter,big numbers with bows and a constant attacking pet like a condition..

Let me give you a real life example and true story.I need to fix my nose diaphragm.
Its not totally broken.im not breathing so well,i snore but i can live with it.
I need to make a operation someday.But till then i can still breath and have a total normal life.
So this is how you fix something thats its not broken

The first time i encounter a boss i cant keep my pet alive a lot.But after a few times i can predict when it will start to cast the aoe.Sometimes you may keep a timer

I dont know if im experience enough for guys like nerva but when i see an aoe i move..And i move my pet too…I turn on avoid combat and i send it only when i want.I found it easy to control it in that mode,the pet doesnt start running when i take a target and start attacking,is waiting till i press F1 or sick em..When i press F3 they stay close even if i start attacking again.And never had any problem

First of all im 19 rank in PvP.I have made more that 300 sPvP matches,and some tourn too
Im 80 lvl for about a week
Ive never had any lack of F2 responce.Ive notice that when the Lynx is far away from the enemy he/she runs near him to execute the leap.And there starts the casting time,it responce,just its not a instant 10k dmg skill like most of you would want.The casting time starts from the time the enemy is in the range of the skill and its logical

Im TRYING to play a better ranger and day after day im realizing that im becoming better in handling the pet.And being awarded for this.The pets do alo of dmg

Even in groups theres some pets with great aoe skills.The lighting drake for example

If you want,like i said,a usual pet system where it attacks all the time for a medium dmg theres other mmos (cough….WoW……cough)
Here in GW2 skill pays you off

The abilities are just fine as they are.Yes they responce late cause they have a casting time.Try using they ability while you under the effect of QZ.or by skill or by traited pet swaping.They responce instantly.This is what i do,after i swap to Frostkitten i press F2 and the skill goes just fine.Otherwise im trying to keep the enemy in the range of the skill while my pet charges the leap.The same goes for the flame drake but im not using it cause i like the crit of my cats.He does a lot of dmg with the F2 tho.the thing you are missing is that you shouldnt expect from the pet to move to the way the enemy is but to put the enemy in the way the pet is.You will be awarded,it requires skill but thats all about in GW2.If you want a constant attacking pet,like having an extra condition i can think of some mmos (cough….WoW….cough).What i notice is that a lot of ppl think the prof of ranger as another Hunter or something.Im using some long range weapons to make some numbers while my pet does a constant +20% dmg.Its not gonna happened and im glad that it wont.The thing with the ranger and pet is that if you are skilled enought the pet will do this extra dmg and it would be more that 20%

Stop thinking of pets as a extra condition.They are not and they shouldnt be.Im specc BM for both pvp and pve and im doing just fine.Got a Jaguar and a Frost kitten and i fine.I mean think about it,Jaguar attacks in stealth,with a 100% crit chance and doing like 3-4k dmg each time.If you think this isnt a good mechanic you are bad player.
Yes i know they cant attack moving targets and their animation are kinda slow.
Well how about improve your skills?I always kite enemy in the range of my pet,i use a lot of cc to slow him so my pet can attack him.
Oh wait i said that Jaguar can attack from stealth…so they enemy doesnt even know what is hitting him.Isnt easy enough this for you?

But YES . Pets are very usefull and a very effective mechanic.Dont ask to improve your pets,improve your skill and movements

How about effects with a chance to buff?Can traps do that?Can traps revive you,or heal you?How about when you want to have the effects and instead of dps support and hold the line?where do you prefer to spec,the crit or the vitality line?You are right but maybe we are quick to judge the spirits,thats all i am saying

And if you want a clear view check all the parts not only the one i linked.In part 5 he get nuked some times and survive just fine

What about the active skills?Noone is answering me…Why you are so obsessed with the “buffs”.Have you ever though that maybe,just saying,support doesnt only provide constant buffs but does other things too?Is it easier to pick up 4 banners and put em few feet away or just to come along with you?they have a long range but playing a little warrior support-banners i found the picking and replacing annoying some times.

You dont understand friend that its not always about the buff .Warrriors cant heal except from traited banners and traited shouts,just check how many ways a ranger got to heal.I dont recall to be chilled from a warrior but ranger with axe trap spirit got 3.its nice to have a constant buff all the time but its also nice to have a enemy chilled(slow-low dmg) all the time.and its not just the chill.He got more,how about cond removal from signet?and yes the proc chance is low but its just an add,its not only for the buff.i wouldnt like more proc chance and removal of the active effect

This match ended in 10 minutes and was one of the most boring videos ever. If you think that the ranger offered anything or spirits had some use, i dont.

He offered an aoe chill-stun-slow,Regen with healing sprint-pets-nature spirit,a chance for 20% dmg and protection,mass rez,cond removal and some other cc.And yes the spirits are not only for the buff,they have some very nice active skills.People keep forgeting it.They die yes but they activate their skill and have a pretty good cd.I cant understand why you want to be warriors in ranger outfit.Most ppl want spirits give 100 power-100 vitality in a big aoe.Thats mean just banners named spirits.No i dont want this for my ranger,if you want play warrior

Axe/axe – SB.ppl may dont know that the 5 in axe offhand is a very good defensive skill..i focus in pet dmg,i stay close with these weapons and do some cc on enemy while my pet (Jaguar) stealth nuke em.I mean like 3k dmg each hit while its stealthed.Y sure,Rangers need rifles killshot

I was furious,i was angry after the patch that fixed the animation glitch.I didnt noticed any big change in my playstyle since i play BM focused in Pet dmg but after entering in the forum i was sad.Always sad and dissapointed.Spirits broken,weapons broken and our last weapon ,broken too..Actually they are not.We are just judging from a safe place.They just need some fixes,some reworks.No,sword its not tottaly broken,neither are spirits.At least as far as i can tell in pvp.So i apologize to everyone i ve been mean and ironically

You guys do realize that 1) spirits have 900 range 2) only 2 spirits apply boons, the other 2 apply a burn (easily tracked) and a damage increase (100% unnoticeable) 3) spirits have an active effect you can trigger immediately after summoning (which they will use even if they die mid cast) 4) this active ability can be traited so it goes off when they die (VERY useful and punishes groups who kill spirits) 5) spirits effects linger for 3-5 seconds after the spirits death, meaning that even if you run out of range of spirit or the spirit dies you can still get the boon/the offensive effect while the spirit is dead.

I run a spirit build in tPvP and it works REALLY well, i personally don’t take Spirits Unbound because i think it’s a stupid trait, and i have about 3.1k armor 3.2k attack 18k health and 750-1000 healing (depending on how long i can go) i’d hardly say that i’m squishy or easy to kill, so even if they focus me all they’re doing is allowing my team and pet to destroy them…

PS: There is no Internal CD on spirits (i haven’t seen it mentioned in this thread yet but it will) so the more and more people you have in the area the stronger and stronger spirits become.

i watch it again.At 0:54 i can see clearly warrior been affected by the spirits buff.No,it doesnt proc any buff and we cant see it if it does but they can reach him defently.Hes at 500 range at least.I dont want to rename the banners to spirits and put the same philosofy of support to rangers.Actually we can carry our spirits with us and they have some active skills.Sure they die pretty easy.Ill work it cause im feeling that you are trolling me guys

In BM my cats crit for a lot dmg.Ive seen 4k and once 5k in a warrior with haste :P
