Lets make Spirits viable

And i dont mean only in a Spirit focused build..Lets be honest…Players dont think that spirits provide enough buffing for taking a slot in the skill bar of my supportive Ranger.I would prefer some self buffing signet or some shout,even tho that the search and rescue needs some fixing too.
And i dont think even raising by 100% the hp of spirits will work.I think that the real problem in spirits is that they give something small but in a steady timing.
2 sec of protection every 10 sec..Not actually numbers just an example
They way i feel GW2 gameplay i think that this kind of buffing doesnt work well.
I would prefer something like 5 sec of protection every 20 sec,or something like this,cause this might sounds OP.Something big/really helpfull/life saving..but with a long proc timer

About Traps

I dont know if devs are reading every topic in every forum but i will try to put an idea in the table.
I never was fun of builds that are to focused in some skills.For example i dislike the fact that Trap Rangers and only Trap Rangers are using the Traps as utility skills.I would like to see some other builds choosing some trap.And the opposite,Trap builds choosing a signet for example,but this is another conversation-topic.
So i thought a easy way that,maybe, would make traps viable in other builds.
How about making traps triggerble?
The idea is to make the fire trap so you can shoot some flaming arrows in some cond builds,so you wont have to wait someone to step on it.
I think it would mess a lot some builds and some traits but i think it would be a nice idea to work with it

i like the idea of a jungle..as a pve specced guys who destroys some mobs to give teammates buffs and points.I think too that Foefire is boring..is all about capping and in the end lets kill the boss which doesnt reward you enough imo.As for the forest i would like the buff that mobs give to be more effective and got some more use than just improve your stats

actually some info about this from the devs will be nice..But since we are still waiting for some explainations in the 40ms animation glitch i dont think we gonna get many info in this too.If they stealth nerfed Jaguar its ok.ill just quit

jaguar can do 5-6k,with some buffing ofc.I have locked the BM-tanky-pet does all the dmg-jaguar build for a long time now,in pvp and pve as well,but i mostly do pvp and i didnt notice any difference.if the stealth nerf is true seriously ill just quit this game

I want to ask what majority of the pvp community is doing now.I mean have you noticed some drop down in the pvp population?Are we just doing soloqs?Are we waiting for ratings to be “stabilized”?
I did some soloqs and ive noticed 2 things
1.Fast in finding game
2.Not exaclty solo,i just pray so i wont fall upon a team and my teamates are at least 20rank

Anet did a really bad job..Things should have been better and more clearer.is this or not a solo q,why im team up against organized teams and why is my rating inv.Wheres the balance changes?wheres the ele nerf?wheres the toned down aoe?
All that shows that the devs have no idea what they are doing.We are just beta testers.They are not clear with their answers and they dont get into trouble explaining the minor changes theyve made so far.One day the put paid the other they take it back.They stealth patch the matchmaking and they dont bother to explain us how they do ratings…
Some top players stated that they will leave this game,some of them took it back
Eitherway the majority of the pvpers are alrdy departing for another pvp harbor and its sad but fair

Its not only that i meet premades-teams in the “join solo” q,in my teams sometimes there are afkers.i cant even report them,i cant leave..i just stay there and wait to lose…is this supposed to be that way?Like “we want solo players to have a bad time so they will leave this game and only 10 teams will play pvp,we found that mists are too crowed and we cant stand that noobs moving around”

soloq=troll team,stomped by premades,waste of time

The best part of all this is the silence from the developers…at this point what would it kill them to release a list of items that are being worked on for the “BIG” pvp patch (although I’m certain in the developer live stream they said that February was the BIG pvp patch).

February or March,this is for sure not a big PvP patch..

Seriously this forum is just a huge negativity circlejerk, as is every official forum sadly.

You got me wrong.They lost my respect cause the changed opinion so easily..They are top players,they have more exp in sPvP than me and know much better what is needed or not.So is suspicious how with all this knowledge(not sarcasm) they-he(not sure if all of them) can change opinion in a few hours.Hes just a player who saw some “nerf” in his favourite class and raged.Hes a top player whos playing at top levels and have clearer view of the class mechanics,competition and meta.

I dont know what happened..When the patch went live i read a nice post from Xeph saying that this patch was a joke.I asked him if he gonna quit this game and he said he will consider it.I always wathced closed at Team Paradigm.Today another member of Team Paradigm,(Phantaram)along with some other (Teldo,Gasmask) almost praised this patch.What happened guys,do you know something that WE dont know?3 more changes in ele and this patch become good in a night?

i am so much confused..So are we allready have matchmaking system?And what are the criteria for matchmaking?Is there an invisible rating that everyone have??How can i know mine?Or rating will be added in the next patch?Will there be a separation between soloers and premades teams?will they get a different rating?So many questions and still i dont know what the heck is going on

Ive read a article that said : “Leaderboards however will not arrive with the February content patch, but will be rolled out in stages as part of their own update.”
also “Not all players will be able to get recorded on the leaderboards to start out. “We’re going to be rolling out in stages, so we’ll roll them out with a small number of people first–maybe the top 100 players will be on the leaderboard when we first roll it out–and we’re going to make sure that it’s really stable and functional, and then we’re going to keep adding to that and expanding on them going forward,” adds Johanson.”

Unfortunately, I already know what’s coming. We’ll get:

  • minor fixes here and there with their “slow and steady approach”
  • A few statements about how they never really promised anything for February and gave a time frame for the “first quarter of 2013”
  • Lots of flaming on the forums where people make thread titled “@DEVS”
  • More people quit, the game continues to die its slow and agonizing death
  • I walk away for good

A good rating system and soloq.Give some space for the casuals,give some space for casuals to become more competitive.Minor balance fixes,dont ruin builds bring new to the table.
Every thief is a glass cannon with some minor changes,i mean how boring is that?Why not boost the support builds.Why every ranger is either a trap or a BM Bunker-pet dmg..?Where are the spirit Rangers?You alrdy saw that Spirits cant be viable with 15% more Hp..
I dont want d/d ele to be nerfed if they dont get a boost in some other builds..and i hate eles

nice vid nerva..i would like some sPvP action too cause WvW is quite unbalanced since there are some low gear players.Its good to have so much evades but when it comes to conquest you either need to kill the foe or stay more on your place

Heres what i think about pets and Rangers.
Anet wants to make a competitive game that skill>gear..
So wants in every class to be a distance between the skill of each player,not the gear.Thats why pets are “problematic”.So the good players will have better control and made them hit more succesfull than bad players who dont pay attention at them and consider them as constant condition on foes
If pets was a constant 1000 dps then we will be searching for the best build.Build Wars 2.
But pets now need the help of the character to be more succesfull at their hits.Some players can make the pets do 5k dps through certain builds and positioning some others can make 1k dps.
Pets imo need some aoe dmg reduction,some F2 fixing and they will be just fine

This is what needs to be fixed with rangers.

I hear a lot of complains in sPvP forum about Rangers being the top class in 1v1 and this Trap build is OP and things like that.Also i heard that it was mentioned in the recent SoTG.
Its totally weird that we were the prof that needed the most love to get hate in an aspect that we didnt receive any change

Let me informe you all who are asking for Traps nerf that Traps had been this way since the release.But in the last month ppl started asking to nerf em cause they became too strong.Its just that Rangers learned how to use em not that its powerfull.
And i believe that the 90% of the complains are Shatter Mesmers with no cond removal skills,cause if you got some good cond removal skills its easy to counter a trap Ranger.
I used to cry out for nerfs too,but we are still in the learning state so any big nerf or big buff it might destroy the game right now.I come to understand devs for not making haste moves.Its better to focus in stuff like match making and this new map-game mode than balancing “OP” classes

Ranger is easy mode and the main problem is that increase in arrow speed thing enhances their damage.

Seriously a ranger can just kite, use their pet and a few traps and just melt anyone else. Its easy mode completely.

Im sorry but i think that you are totally wrong.The arrow speed is just to avoid the obstructed bug that happened all the time.It didnt enchanced the dmg but the reliability.

And now believe this bug havent disapear 100%
It has a part II and III that you can see how problematic was the pets and still these problems havent gone 100%.
This thread is not a Ranger thread but because is mentioned about balancing in February update im using the Ranger example for 2 reasons:
1.Its the class i mainly play,so i know more things about it
2.All the arguement is to point that we dont need that much balancing

but the pets are never alive.

Yes they have some issues in some fights but thats not true.Actually its unaccurate and blind assumption..Learn to adapt in the situation,if you find hard to keep alive your pet change it with a ranged one,or a tanky one.In pve you can do this out of combat.Choose before combat what pet its better for the fight..In pvp its totally fine and pets are always alive if you keep swapping em and you use your heal sometimes for them instead of only for yourself.I used ranged pet in pvp and i was totally fine

I follow this forum for a long time now.I was here a little before the 40ms animation glitch..Sometimes i got angry,sometimes i got happy.Before the 40ms patch Rangers was a good pvp class with the QZ SB combo being a blast…The condition + QZ + SB was the best pvp option everyone follow it and everyone was happy about it.After the 40ms patch every Ranger stopped playing Ranger in pvp,raged at the devs and the GW2 pvp community itself approved that Ranger was the weakest class..Till the trap build came up.I would say here that till day one i think theres not a single change in the trap skills or whatsoever.After 2 good patches with a few fixes in some weapons-skills-traits-pets today you can see some threads in sPvP where ppl actually complaining for Rangers that are so OP in 1v1 and that the trap build must be nerfed.I repeat not a single change happened in traps so my question is why suddenly the traps become op?
The answer that i can give is that we are still learning the classes and the game itself.We need to test builds,weapons and skills before we rage that Rangers are overpower.In a certain time Rangers indeed needed help but now i think we are pretyy fine
And yes we can make more ranged dmg than warriors in actuall combat with our pets alive

You overthinking this guys.First lets see how it would go and then you can say what do you think.I find the February update very exciting…And the paid system 1v1 team was a blast for me.Im a casual player and i had a chance in playing some quick competetive games with randoms..And when we got randoms too,we got so much fun.I know some “pros” are now QQing cause ppl from randoms nuked em but i dont care.This was a success as Anet said cause it attracked more players to play pvp..Everyday someone was spamming for paids and you could find a decent random team in about half an hour.So i dont care what do you say the numbers says that was a success so it must stay that way.
I want to stay this system cause i had so much fun in some paids.So simple

with 25 mastery points spent in BM ive seen Jaguar do 9k dmg to a Warrior with frienzy.From my experience in BM builds i know that birds do a little more “clear” number than cats but cats i think they do more dmg overall.Birds hit hard with the F2 and autohits and i think is possibly to reach 9k numbers with some buffs.It would be like 4,5k 4,5k since it attacks twice

I really like sPvP,its my favourite aspect of this game.But sadly im a casual player and i cant found a team that doesnt require teamspeak.With the new patch its more easy to find team and i can finaly play some paids with success.
I hope that the devs are considering in keeping this current system so i can enjoy it more..

Noone said that this was the final change in spirits.Its just a improvement towards the right direction..They admit that spirits die easily and they are trying to fix it little by little.I feel very good with this change not because it would make the spirit build viable but because we made a step closer to that…So lets help em with nice and constructive suggetions-posts

I started playing dota-LoL and WoW about 8 years ago..I remember some games coming out,making a big entrance and then die slowly.I get a feeling that theres a gamers community that is tired of the games i mention before but they just cant find a place to stay.To be honest i think that the right time to hit is when the game is up…In the start you draw a lot of players and you are making a lot of money which must be spent immediately in evolving your existing game,as soon as you setle down and start enjoying success (and money ofc) you loose people.People want more,everyday want more and if you cant give them they will look for the next game.
So yes esports happens at the beggining or its very difficult afterwards

Well i have seen too a lot of hotjoins with full thieves in both teams..and pretty much till today i see at least 3 thieves in every team…They said to me L2P and i guess Anet agree with this since theres no nerfing coming….The Shortbow 1 in the Ranger wasnt alright since it made Rangers spamming 1 and winning but the thief combo is alright…And the inv stomping is alright i geuss.And even if you manage to stop his combo or the thief kitten up he can always stealth and walk away leaving you with zero points but again thats alright…I see about 2-3 posts everyday in the sPvP forum complaining about thieves but its alright..Its obvious thats something wrong with me

I geuss we can give Anet more time,but how much more i dont know..Sr if i didnt made it clear enough guys but my point was that i am a casual,i cant make a tournament team so i dont have enough fun in pvp matches..But also i am not a hardcore LoL player but i can play ranked matches when i want to become more serious.while is pretty much the same as a normal game it adds more excitement cause if i win my ranking goes up…I dont need a team,i dont need a teamspeak….I just have to make my best cause my performance matters..i dont need to communicate all the time with my teamates.
I believe that the conquer mode depends a lot in teamwork while the MOBA games are giving more attention in the personal performance.Some times one and only one player can make the difference,while in GW2 you cant really outshine,you cant feed,you cant outfarm everyone else,its all about coordination and being in the right place the right time :/

Im rank 27,i reached 80,ive done some dungeons,ive done some events,im full exotic and i want to focus in pvp.
Im a casual player and im still playing hotjoins for 2 reasons…
1 I dont have a tournament team
2 I dont want to wait 10 mins to find 4 strangers that most of the time dont communicate
For the 1 :I dont have a tournamet team cause most of em requires a mic-ventrilo-etc..I dont want to speak with my team through mic..I just dont want..Is it outrageous?Teams without mic communication are doomed?I just login in LoL and i play a totally fine ranked game without needing a mic or whatever..

For the 2 :Im doing 2-3 tournaments the day and im bored to death with them…I join with strangers that most of the times dont communicate at all and the roles are not set up..its like,me (Ranger) ,2 burst thieves,one elementalist that had copy pasted some random build and a warrior that wants to make a big number with 100b and the just die..Sometimes we win one match,or 2..in the third match we play with an organized team that practise or whatever and the score ends like 500-30.And i think that spectator mode wont solve these problems..I strongly believe that even the ranking wont solve these problems..If now the waiting time is 10 mins with the ranking it will be 30 or more.
I think the solution is for the GW2 to learn from and embrace the MOBA games.Conqueor mode will never succed imo

I see your points and i agree with the most of it..But i had much fun watching 1v1 fights..It was very interesting watching a necro destroying a thief combo.In tournaments i cant have a nice view of what is going in the map,i dont know if the spectator mode will provide that but right now its not fun to watch pro teams fighting…In Twitch GW2 got like 200-300 viewers and in the other hand i saw in this forum a post about an organized 1v1 tournament….This means that ppl really want to duel and the current mode doesnt have the succes that was expected.Even if spectator mode comes imo it will just gonna dissapear the GW2 channel from Twitch..Im not happy with the pvp game right now….

And i strongly believe that when it will comes out it will make a noise and its the future of GW2 esport game.
All these dodges mechanics are a very good mechanic in a 1v1 battle,in a battle that you fight 2 or 3 foes as a spectator you cant focus very much in the small details..sometimes animations are chaotic..but in 1v1 you can see more clearly what happens,how the player react,when he dodge roll,when he opens his cds..
I know that the game its not meant to be balanced around 1v1 but in conquer mode.But still even in conquer mode theres no balance.Still Builds-classes outshine and i know that LoL,the king of esports, aint 100% balanced at all.Games cant become balanced 100% but they can become fun to watch and competitive
Anyway its just an opinion and i would like to hear some others too..

The skill is called WW defense..defense not offense…its a defensive skill against projectiles.It does some pretty decent dmg but its not easy to make someone stay in meele range while you channel it.i used to use it in some builds and its cool.Whats wrong with you guys?why do you want every skill to do 100000 dmg in the click?
The #4 skill of the Off hand axe is a bit low but this is for another thread

dead pets arent healing kitten,just if pet dies or its dead when the Ranger is down you can rez it and come to heal you….Pets are a unique utility for Rangers,we are controling almost 2 characters while we are “alive”,i cant see the reason why we shouldnt be able to almost-merely control it while we are down..This is outrageous,thiefs got 2 100% succesfull ways of avoiding stomp and people complain about a pet that heals?My aoe daze dont work on stability and stealthed kittens and if the pet is interupted the heal stops….

Please not another Ranger nerf..Please just learn what the skill does and dont complain…IF you interupt-kill the pet, the Ranger cant heal,it may seem tricky in the beggining but pets are not so hard to die…
