The new mini dungeon is one of the best things I’ve found in this game.

I searched all over for it and found it with a guildie, we duo’d it, but it can be done with any amount of people.

And it’s not quite a “dungeon”. It’s like a jumping puzzle, a maze, and the game Torchlight all in one.

I HIGHLY recommend checking it out.

Tip: do not underestimate the torches.

I suppose that’s not bad at all then, given the price of lodestones right now. I’m going to try testing it tonight, I’ll report back my findings (I’ve currently got slightly over 200% MF).

How is 200% possible? Did you miss count? This is what I have and I thought it was max.

6 × 3 = 18 on gear
10+15+25+10 = 60 from runes
.6 × 25 = 15 on weapon sigil
5 × 6 = 30 on trinkets
total 123

Then then best food has 40.
And guild boost is 10.
For a grand total of 173.

Where are you getting 30 more magic find?

So, one guy gets a precursor from a random drop in orr. Another guy puts in 2000 rare swords and finally gets it.

Would you consider that the same “fruit of effort”?

I would say no. Because it is not equal. Getting these weapons should be a journey, with a visible light at the end of the tunnel. Currently it’s a maze with a 1000 sided die roll chance at seeing a light.

Why Not Make Lodestones Buyable For Dungeon Tokens?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Darx.9842

Darx.9842

This is a great idea. As it stands now you can spend a full day grinding for lodestones and not get one. If they were awarded for dungeon tokens this would garuntee progress every time you tried.

And the lodestones could be related to the dungeons they drop from. Ex. Molten can be bought from the CoF vendor.

Darx.9842

It is absurd to think that this is a backwards step in game design, since this is among the few games where stats and desirability are decoupled.

It IS a step backwards and let me explain why. And I mean this specifically for weapons. To attain them relies too much on RNG, chance, luck. Yes FFXI had alot of this. But over the years they improved by making the mobs drop tokens instead of gear so you always progressed. And you could work towards creating a spawn item for big bosses instead of competing for them against others. They WERE improving the game, it sounds like you didn’t get to endgame, which is where 99.9% of the players were. The tokens are much like the GW2 dungeon system, which I think is great, you are always making progress.

The weapons are a different story. Throwing 1000 weapons into the forge to get back nothing is not progress, its a humungous waste, because it’s not like the NEXT time you’ll have a better chance, you could very well waste another 1000 weapons just the same.

And I’ve gone 3 hours without a lodestone. Thats about the max I can play per day anyways. So I just spent 3 hours of my life not accomplishing anything? Yes. That is not progress. It is a step back.

Thanks for all the good replies. I wish we could get some sort of response from the Devs.

The last game I played was FFXI, and if you wanted something, you could go out and work towards it and make progress every day, and that game is now 10 years old. I feel GW2 is not like that. GW2 was supposed to progress the genre into the future, but it seems like we’re taking a step back.

I don’t mind grinding. I’ve done hundreds of hours in my life of grinding, maybe thousands. But for what I want to accomplish, it doesn’t seem realistic.

I like to earn my keep. Buying stuff on the trading post seems lame to me. I want to create my weapons from my own work. And 100 to 350 lodestones isn’t realistic.

I like to earn my rewards. 100 lodestones? how?

in Crafting

Yeah but it’s not just Charged, its all lodestones in general. Some weapons need 350. How would someone realistically farm those? That could take literally a full year of a casual player’s time of killing the same mobs. But Anet has diminishing returns? It seems very hypocritical.

I don’t understand how I’m supposed to get 100 charged lodestones. In every game I play there is a way to move towards a goal. This just seems ridiculous. 100 lodestones will potential take hundreds of hours of grinding the same mobs.

I thought this wasn’t a grinding game?

I DON’T WANT to buy my mats, I want to earn them myself. How the hell?

So why not let us have a real system? We could buy lottery tickets ingame and every week there are winners.

Guardian "Virtue Recharge Rate" Broken?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Darx.9842

Darx.9842

I think what the issue is here is that “Rate” is not the same as “Time”.

Recharge Rate implies that there are 2 values, usually a rate is a value over time, like heart rate = beats per minute.

Your calculation is just using time of the recharge. I noticed exactly what you noticed but I realized that 30% does not mean 30% less time. It means a 30% FASTER RATE.

I feel massively short changed buying gems, because as soon as you buy them, they are less valuable. That’s like buying a “New” item on ebay, then receiving it in the mail to find out it’s obviously “Used”, except for us it’s even worse because we’re not ‘finding out’ they’re worth less.. we know they’re worth less but we have to do it anyways because it’s the only option.

Very sad indeed.

Where are the side quests?

Where’s the rest??? We get one story?

The last mmo I played was FFXI, there were quest chains literally everywhere, you could play for years and still not be done with side-quests.

On a related note, I think Anet missed a big opportunity for a story with the legendary weapons. Crafting a legendary shouldn’t be just throwing items in the forge, there should be a long story to go with it. Why is the weapon legendary? What’s the story behind it?

Scroll does no go with Ascalonian Tears , or the Gift of Ascalon.

It might go with a Gift that uses Gift of Ascalon in it.

So it would be: Eldrish Scroll + Gift + Component + X

X can be Mystic Coins, Lodestones, Cores or even T6 Dust.

Gift i would say it can be Gift of History, or Gift of Energy.
Both use Cystalline Dust on them. And History use Gift of Ascalon.

I fell we are so close to finding the recipe.

We just need to ask people who allready have the Gifts to see if they fit with the Scroll.

I spent so much money on this that i can’t craft Foefire if we find the recipe xD

Why wouldn’t you suspect Gift of Light as well? It has gift of ascalon as an ingrediant, it is a Gift for the legendary greatsword, it includes charged lodestones which I would say are the closest lodestone to foefire, and Gift of “Light”.. Foefire was a burst of light right? Also, light is very sononomous with Guardian/paladin type classes.

One of ‘Arcanis’ posts are really close to the recipe ingredient.
I’m just thinking how much should I sell me Forfire now… how much would be just a little bit overprice but acceptable.
I will need to sell my first ForFire in order to get enough gold to make more…

No proof. No one believes you. And there isn’t one on the TP, so you obviously aren’t selling it to pay for another one… because yours does not exist.

There’s no rules that say the ingredients must be expensive or difficult to attain.

estemated profit

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Darx.9842

Darx.9842

Mira that math is off. I’ll make this simple so everyone can understand.

5 × 1.15 = 5.75 (Your projected “break even” point) Okay, lets test this “break even” point.

So if you resell at 5.75, you should break even, right? Wrong.

5.75 × 0.85 = 4.88.

You didn’t break even, you lost 0.12. If we were speaking in terms of gold and silver, you would have lost 12 silver.

As you can see using the “1.15” method on your buy price will end up losing you money unless your margin is high enough that the incorrect math doesn’t matter.

The best way to find your profit is to look at the current sell price. Let’s use 5g for a current sale price and 4g 20s for a current buy order price. This is pretty realistic with a lot of the items I come across.

5g x 0.85 = 4g 25s — This is what you get after fee’s if you resell the item at the current market value.

4g 25s – 4g 20s = 5s profit.

The moral of this lesson is that going from 1.15 and 0.85 aren’t the same thing. Percentages are just that, percentages, not fixed amounts. 15% of a higher number will be more than 15% of a lower number.

Right now, if you’re looking at someone and they teleport across the map to a waypoint, they just disappear off you’re screen.. boring. This doesn’t seem “realistic” as far as a fantasy game with instant travel goes. Did they log off? Did they DC? Did they waypoint? Did they enter an instance? Who knows?

Something like a beam of light shooting down from the sky, or starting from your feet and zooming upward. Or maybe our character will pull out a gem from our pocket and it will light up and create a flash of light. I hardly believe our characters just “think” of a place and disappear, especially with so many flashy magic spells and attacks being thrown around in this game. Every game I can think of had animations for instant travel.

Black Lion is like those credit card and mobile phone companies with all the hidden fees. Yeah it’s not right. Anet needs to at least warn players there’s a 10% charge on successfully sold items. Most player’s don’t know this and are short changing themselves instead of just vendoring their items.

It’s also extremely difficult to make any money from crafting. At 400 armorsmith I should be able to buy all my mats on the TP, craft an item, and sell for a small profit. Can I do this? No. Besides the 15% fees I think the main problem is the worldwide market, it’s so saturated that there is always more supply than demand on virtually every item.
