Wow.
Rewards for doing nothing? And not just doing nothing, not even knowing something happened?!
The fact that he got Dawn.. whatever, he may just be trolling. But beyond that fact, people who did not participate in the event, should NOT be getting rewards. Complete slap in the face for those who were there.
Part of the appeal to that nice karka accessory was the rarity of it. Only one chance to get it, on one night, and never again. NOPE.
Eh, I personally prefer my combo over full stag.
I honestly can’t stand the look of the top and bottom for stag armor
Which helm is that? I kinda like.
There CAN be a holy trinity, it mainly relies on the build of the “tank”
I heard of theories that the more armor you have, the more hate/aggro you generate.
As soon as I started to have around 3000 armor as Guardian in dungeons, a lot of bosses are glued to me. I’m not doing much damage compared to the glass cannons, but bosses are still stuck on me.
And I DO NOT drop easily, I’m maxed out for damage mitigation and condition removal. So I do fairly well tanking.
A healer can be several classes, Ele would probably fit best. And every class can be a dps build.
So, imo, there can be a holy trinity.
Would you like to see something like this implemented?
I really love the skills on both staff and scepter, but the auto attacks are plain boring, and seem unfinished to me compared to the other weapon auto-attacks.
For the staff, the first and second attack of the 3 hit combo would depend on the character race, since currently the staff attacks for each race are all very different. But for the 3rd hit of the combo I was thinking the character spikes the base of the staff to the ground and top emits a full circular pulse of light instead of the current wedge. This would be circular aoe damage and a small aoe heal.
Thoughts?
I have 6/6 T3 Norn female cultural.
To this day I’ve only seen 2 others running around on my server that have it. Of course there are more, but not that I run into.
If the price was lowered everyone would have it and it would completely lose it’s value and appeal.
If anything, increase the price.
It’s a way for gold-sellers to make transactions with buyers.
The gold-sellers send an item that has no listings on the TP to a buyer. The buyer lists the item, the gold-sellers buy it.
Or so I heard.
This is a good idea, I often have 10+ guild members in the same area and don’t even know it.
While I would love to see events relating to the different cultures…
I have 6/6 T3 Norn armor and I would be pissed to see some asura wearing it.
I don’t understand why everyone is calling them “dailies”
There’s a bonus round every even numbered level correct? What’s daily about that?
Do you think this is going to be the only way to obtain ascended gear?
Hell no.
This is the way to obtain back armor and rings. I’m sure there will be entirely new ways to obtain the other gear.
I don’t really like the idea of dying weapons. Weapons should be what they are.
For example, the sword and GS from CoF. They are basically a chunk of cooled lava with chains. There’s no way they should be dyed blue or pink or any other color.. cooled lava is not blue.
Your right Cooled lava is not blue…. then again people can’t summon dragons tooth to smash their enemies… it is a fantasy game.
Yes this is a fantasy game, but it still can redeem some reality. And I think dying weapons crosses that line.

Power vit toughness?
Theres a set from AC, HotW, Orr Karma, and WvW. That’s it.
Yeah, I agree the music is a bit dull. I’d much prefer Final Fantasy music
And my human female voice is super annoying
Yep. FFXI had different music for every zone. Really good orchestra music. And that game came out over 10 years ago.
I have the playlist it was so good.
There are a few sets of Runes with -condition duration. I think theres a set with -15% and -20% duration.
If Agony is a condition like Anet has said. Will these runes work?
-20% duration is technically 20% less damage. That’s pretty significant.
Anet is always going on about how we get to play this game however we want.
Well why is the monthly so ridged?
I suggest instead of WvW kills, that it be changed to general PvP kills. Meaning sPvP, tPvP, and WvW.
Ok. What about 18k hp? Would I be able to get the rest?
These are what I want:
~20,000 HP
~2800 attack
~2600-2800 defense
~45% crit
~50% crit dmg
I use shouts, and use Runes of the Soldier, and I believe they are extremely useful and are the only option I will not budge on.
Does anyone have similar stats to this? What is your gear/build?
Does no one read anymore?
Anet already announced they are working on a “scavenger hunt” for obtaining precursors.
I don’t feel like pulling up the page. But it is official and it is happening.
It’s supposed to be like that.
Norn’s body temperature is higher than a normal human. That’s why you see all the Norn’s bare chested and sleeveless, even though its snowing out.
The subsequent steps of Phase 1 can be finished after Phase 2
Defeat Noll and his bodyguards (this is currently bugged and we’ll push a fix for that later)
Find Canach in Garenhoff
Defeat Canach (this NPC is currently on a timer)
Return to Kiel for your reward.
Other dynamic events are not required for completing Phase 1.
All players will be able to play and complete Phase 2, independently from whether they played or completed Phase 1.
Thanks.
Stephanie said this, but Kiel is no longer in Lions Arch. ….
Is it still possible to finish phase 1 and get a reward?
The crown on the female I definatly have not seen anywhere.
But today I found the gloves and pants on a corrupted norn in Honor of the Waves.
The path where you have to run thru the tunnel with the traps that throw you backward. The dude at the end that you have to fight to open the door. He has this armor. Not the helm tho.
So maybe we’ll see this armor eventually.
That might be Chester Copperpot.
@Darx, that’s about 30mins of play time (with a good group) for an obisidan shard. and it’s a hell of a lot funner than farming 2100 karma. so “hahhahah” that.
That’s what I’m laughing at tuff guy.
I never farmed karma and I feel bad for those who did.
15 tokens for obsidian shards?
hahhahaha
I would love to see some rare spawns.
What I miss most about playing FFXI are “Notorious Monsters” they were bigger and stonger than normal mobs and spawned rarely. Some every hour, some every 4 hours, some ever 20 hours, some only once every 2 days, etc. Some needed groups, some could be soloed.
And what made them desirable was the loot. Always a unique skin. And always better stats than the level. And when people see that you have that piece of gear, they know you earned it, you put in the time and hard work and deserve it.
The thrill of finding one randomly was huge. Or hunting them specifically for the loot and finally getting the drop was great fun.
I really hope we get something like this in the future. Any agree?
Confirming what others have said above.
Turn off post processing, and install a FXAA injector.
My game is effing beautiful.
What it does do is assure progression through a set of dungeons. You’ll have to get gear from the first to be able to do the next. Which I don’t mind.
It’s great for the people that love PvE and enjoy progression.
As for your suggestions: You haven’t played the content yet, don’t be so quick to critique.
Requiring you to do one dungeon before you do another serves what purpose? Why can’t we participate in all dungeons without grinding them in order?
Now if every dungeon had story and explorable modes PLUS “agony modes” which were for the “hardcore” then I would be fine.
Some of us want to just experience the content once and move on. I run every dungeon mode once and never again. I would be very very surprised if I could get all the ascended gear I need from just one run.
As for the stat itself…it is almost identical to radiance and dread in lotro….and that did not turn out well.
Gee with that logic.. why even have levels? Let us just go do any area we want without a level?
The achievement of getting a level, getting new gear, getting to the next area.. It can all be applied to dungeons.
pretty sure it will be another MF recipe for 100% precursor, like this:
100 onyx lodestones+gift of metal + scroll+ 100 ascended ingredient= dusk
That would be dreadful. I’m praying it has nothing to do with the mystic forge. The boss hunting people mentioned above would be amazing.

“We also have plans to add more fun ways to acquire Legendary precursor items with a more “scavenger hunt” feel than they are acquired currently.” ~Linsey Murdock
Posting this in case anyone hasn’t seen it yet. And this forum seems to be the go-to place to complain about precursors and legendaries, so I thought it was appropriate.
This might provide that “epic journey” some of us have been craving to get our legendaries. Glad I waited.
(edited by Darx.9842)
Or it could be none of that.
Maybe they can’t become undead because they’re plants….
YES
FFXI allowed us to do this 10 years ago. Seems like this would be a standard feature in a current mmo.
Is it the keeping score part? The fact that it has a beginning and an end? That there’s “no point” if you’re going to lose?
What would make you WvW more? How can Anet make WvW more desirable? It’s supposed to be casual friendly, and it appears that WvW participation is dropping with each week.
I would play WvW more if they restructured the map in such a way to encourage smaller team play.
As it stands, you basically run around in a huge zerg pack, spam AOES, dodge the bigger red circles, and dog-pile the enemies who are a little too slow it getting back behind their group line. There are no player-versus-player tactics involved, there is no real skill involved. It’s all about who has the most bodies to pile up. This just isn’t fun.
The only “small group” activities on the field are boring. Escort the Dolyak, clear out the centaurs, kill the krait, etc etc. The most fun I ever had in WvW was when I was soloing the krait in the central lake to finish the quaggan event, and somebody from one of the other servers saw we were going to win the event, and came to stop me. That 1v1 underwater battle expanded into 2v2, then 3v3. In the end, there were about ten of us fighting each other and the krait at the same time, trying to win the event, while keeping our enemies from doing so at the same time.
If there were more events that could be done with small groups, and they actually made an impact on the map, we’d see a lot more small-group skirmishes, instead of just three giant zergs running across the map, trying to dog-pile each other to death.
I had a similar experience, and yeah it was the most fun, and only fun I’ve had in WvW. I’d like to see more of it.
I just bought my 5th piece and should have my 6th in a couple days.
The prices are fine. It’s good to have something to work towards.
When I tried it was just two massive zergs ranging eachother. Turned me off.
If I want pvp I’ll do spvp.
And if I want a big battlefield I’ll go play BF3.
@ NoOneShotU.3479
Hmm … the main purpose for this was to determine the salvage rate of Ecto from yellow items (or exotics), using different tools, and whether it’s a profit or not.
In fact, I did not count salvage mats, runes or sigils, which -as u state- would add a bit mote to the net gain, perhaps upwards of 1s if you include mats + rune/sigil.
@ Darx.9842
You should have tabulated your results
I normally use the “Basic SK” (10% to recover rare mats) on Whites. I vendor Blues / Greens. But I may as well test with Master SK and see; however tracking all mats would be cumbersome, or are you only interested in tracking rare ones like Ori, Goss, Hardened Leather, etc? Also did you use the Mystic Sk with 250 charges or just the regular one? They are supposed to be the same but I am just wondering
I don’t salvage for ectos, I just sell the rares because it’s safer. But if you are salvaging whites/blues for ori and gossamer, I would love to see some numbers.
One of the main reason behind this sheet is to see whether salvaging for Ecto is really more profitable -vs- simply auctioning off the items, and if so by how much. Also to check the actual salvage rate (0 to 3).
I’m just interested in ori and gossamer, I think I’m going to start keeping track myself as well. I don’t salvage for leather as it goes for vendor price on the TP. Yes I did use the 250 charge mystic which claims 25% chance for rarer mats, but I believe it’s false and more around 10% or less. Master’s seems like it actually provides the advertised 25%.
Also, I’d suggest reading this thread, other people have been doing some numbers as well: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Stealth-nerf-on-ecto-drops/first#post690895
I think legendary weapons are special because they all use all the different gifts and they have special effects like auras footprints and spell effects. They also have a lot more detail on them. Mjolnir etc may be expensive but they are the same model as the elementalist conjured weapons so it doesn’t really have a unique thing to it so it doesn’t get to be a legendary.
From what I’ve seen of the Foefire’s essence it DOES have special effects. Someone linked it in chat and I previewed it. It was pulsing, and the pulse carried onto my character’s body and briefly made my character have a ghostly shine.

I clicked the “Remove Dye” button and clicked a piece of armor, instead of rolling back to what I originally had, it gave me new colors.
I got black, midnight red, dust, and gunmetal, and I haven’t acquired any of these.
After some fiddling around, eventually, some of the dyes were “stuck” meaning I couldn’t remove them. And if I tried equipping the armor, my game would crash.
You could have written your post a little better, but I agree!
This game needs class-specific armor and weapons. A guardian should look entirely different from a warrior and visa-versa. A mage should look entirely different from a necro!
The current armor is fine how it is, but the Devs I’m sure could implement new armor sets in the future that are class specific.
What I would like to see are new quests that reward class specific skins.
I agree with the OP. Obtaining a legendary should be a long quest, with challenges that require skill.
FFXI did this 10 YEARS AGO.
It’s unlikely that they’ll change the current legendaries, but here’s hoping for a quest line for new legendaries, or just unique looking exotics.
Personally I really want to see class-specific weapons and armor. I want my guardian to actually look like a guardian.
Hi, thank you for doing this. And yes there are some statistics I would like to see:
I’ve had a sneaking suspicion for quite some time that the stats on Mystic salvage kit are incorrect.
One day I ran out of mystics, so I bought a few batches of Master salvage kits. I noticed the rates of getting higher quality mats was much higher, even though they both are listed as 25%. I thought it was a fluke. But I tried again and again and keep getting the same results. Typically, 25 Master’s will get me more oris/gossa than 100 Mystics will.
I don’t salvage for ectos, I just sell the rares because it’s safer. But if you are salvaging whites/blues for ori and gossamer, I would love to see some numbers.
Legendaries are the dumbest part of this game imo.
How are they “legendary” if you just throw some items into a forge? That’s a brand new item, nothing legendary about it.
They should be a reward. An old weapon that is found or given to you after a long difficult journey. Something that is earned, not bought with gold.
They currently have zero story behind them. Every game I’ve played that has weapons like this always have a story. It’s like this game is missing a spine.
I’m not sure what everyones definition of market manipulation is, but this happened last week.
I was watching abyss dyes the average price around 3.5g. I was refreshing about every 10 seconds, the quantity available was about 200. Then I refreshed, and the quantity was down to 100 in an instant. Over the next five minutes 100 dyes were listed at varying prices around 5g
I know it was just 1 guy because abyss dyes only come in about 10 an hour max and usually sell at that same rate. I’m sure this guy cleaned up, because it was an odd day when abyss dye was 3.5g when it’s usually 6.
Now I don’t really see a problem with this. He saw low prices and took advantage of it. Is this what people consider manipulation?
I wouldn’t expect Anet to see things like this, because it can happen so fast. But it’s laughable that they deny it happens.
(edited by Darx.9842)
Theres a good chance you’ll see this so I’m going to say it.
Legendaries need to be less about money and more about an epic journey. An awesome difficult event or solo/group instance to obtain a precursor or gift would be alot more fun than what we got.
But it’s good to know you guys are listening and are planning to make changes.
Thank you!
(edited by Darx.9842)
I highly doubt any nerf was put in place, just bad luck for you. I have only salvaged 2 rares but I got 3 ectos from them. Every couple of weeks someone makes this thread it seems.
The fact that there are multiple threads about this recently, plus many ingame convos in guild chat, LA shouts, etc. say otherwise.
Have you ever heard the phrase “the obvious answer is usually right” ?
I was farming Orr yesterday and everyone in the group was getting gold drops, normally we convert them into ectos. Now the rate you get ectos has gone way down it seems. I salvaged about 12 rares and got only 1 ecto. Therefore now most of us are playing it safe and selling the rares themselves and letting the buyer assume the risk of ecto conversion.
This.
Anet ninja nerfed ectos from rares. I’m playing it safe and selling rares because I need the cash.
