Everyone complained about the mini Gwenn.. (I always spell that wrong) dropping at a ridiculous drop rate from ToT bag last year. This year the vendor sells it for 100 cobs.. which is a lot.. but it’s not gated behind RNG anymore. [/quote]
There’s a huge difference between the two. Gwyn was requiring well over 100k bags to obtain. Now, it’s down to 1 in 10k or so. Which is a slap in the face to those of us that worked all year long for her. If they make it a simple recipe for the Endless Batwing Brew that would be a slap in the face to those of us who have obtained it.
So many complaints about this yet, all I see are people playing on the new maps instead of farming the heck out of Halloween.
Mad King is ending, and still no recipe. This bottle will be 1k gold soon. ‘Earn it’ eh?
I can assure you this is not going to happen. Why, because whenever I have the opportunity to make gold or have obtained a super rare item (like Gwyn), JS comes in a wrecks it.
too whiney
What you aren’t getting is that someone else’s Mastery level doesn’t affect your capacity to play the game at all. Also, those that accomplished such a high Mastery level already did the Tyrian content required for the Mastery points. Anyone new to the game has a long road ahead of them to get those Mastery Points.
There is nothing wrong at all with CoF or any other form of content being used for experience.

It’s not like they (the devs) weren’t told enough times about the concerns of the new maps.
As someone who plays on a small server i dont understand the enjoyment of 80 man zergs and you people trying to join the fullest servers while there is plenty of empty servers….is it cowardice? Because u really arent making a difference there while if ur guild joined t5 to t8 they would actually make an impact and make for better future matchups…the best thing would be even population split among the 24 servers rather then queue times in some while others sit empty…people want to blame anet for population isssues but really its the bandwagon ppl and those who QQ and /run from outnumbered fights that are making for dead servers causing stale matchups and boring gameplay. I think all servers over t8 should be closed…this will cause ppl to move to low end servers and spread population out, if people are spread out and population isnt enough it would be much easier to tell then it is now with ppl sitting in line (like good children) to be let into map
Tldr: i think wvw populations need to be fixed and closing all servers but t8 would be a good way to spread out population.
First, some of us LOVE large scale combat. 80vs80vs80 is why we continue to play GW2 WvW. Not some dainty little 20v20 skirmishing bs, that isn’t fun for us. Unfortunately, the WvW population has shrunk severely. Anet just keeps pulling on their server status tactivator to make them “full” again. Though this “new full” is far lower than any population level we previously had. Not even enough to sustain having players running on all 4 maps. An even population split between the 24 NA servers is just not feasible any longer. Players will just continue to leave the game before being subjected to such small scale watered down combat.
The Dev’s are not WvW players and never understood how and why the upper Tiers worked and why players love(d) it.
Balance, do you get it? It will help wvw in the long run.
No… no it will not. You cannot, repeat CANNOT, spread the WvW player base so thinly.
Come back everybody.
I am sad and alone running around fighting NPC only.
You figure out how to get replacement WvW dev’s and some of us might consider it.
One of my human females continues to mumble this randomly, every couple of minutes, even while idle. She’s a Guardian and the Prayer isn’t even slotted. It’s pretty annoying and figured I’d post about it.
WHAAAAT? It’s a piece of freaking armor! Trinkets and backpacks sure I can see the difference. BUT, the breather is literally your helmet while in the water. This is something that should be fixed to keep it inline with how the rest of the system works.
Gold income wasnt nerfed
I’m calling bunk on this statement big time. Where is the replacement gold coming into the system? And again, Dungeons were not the only gold faucet reduced or removed.
I hate my luck enough said.
If it helps the math, I have 4 from opening 70k bags this week.
Judging by the statistics on large number of opened bags on wiki, this doesn’t even mean your luck is bad. The drop rate is THAT bad. 4 drops in 320k bags puts it about 1 drop per 80k bags. (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trick-or-Treat_Bag/research)
IMO this is the worst RNG gate on time-limited content item ANet has developed yet. Please introduce another method of acquiring the brew or alternative item that can be acquired outside of ToT bag RNG for the recipe.
That link to the wiki is junk now as the loot tables were changed when HoT launched.
Oh, and Maize Balm farming died last week. The interesting thing is, it’s not even because of the functional changes to Maize Balm either. We’ll have to see if JS comes to his senses and rolls back some of the changes.
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
I’m still salty and sitting in bed angrily thinking about this. Look, if there was technical difficulties preventing this feature from being available game wide for the HoT launch, just admit to it. Then include it in when it’s ready to go.
Please do not fracture the game playing experience further with the mastery system. When leveling up originally, it was great being able to do zone exploration, Dungeons, and WvW for experience. Fracturing our progression in game now is going to give us an unnatural and fractured experience. The only way to keep the natural fluid feeling of progression is to continue with having multiple avenues of experience. Do not break that system, it worked wonderfully. Sure, a Mastery may be specific to content, say like Golem Mastery. BUT, this is freak’n auto loot we’re talking about here and it’s useful game wide!!!
My biggest beef with the Tyrian Mastery points is how they were distributed. 13 of them in FotM are far too many. 8 requiring a gem store purchase of the Living Story season for new accounts. 5 for the Silverwaste Legendaries which is nothing more than a time sink waiting for them to spawn.
Please suggest to make the maps smaller and making the fortified gates less strong. I feel like something has to be done soon, the small wvw communities are getting damaged badly, even some of my guildies feel like giving up.
The patience we’ll need has barely begun. Take for example the gates, I heard Dev chatter maybe a year and a half ago that they didn’t like us able to PvD down gates. It took them until now, a year and a half later, to finally implement these tougher gates. So how long do you think it’ll take to get the map changes players are already asking for?
little quality of life feature.
LITTLE???? no this is a HUGE QoL issue. Look at how many players are fast tracking the Pact Mastery just for this.
It’s a convoluted mess. The keeps make no sense design wise. I’m constantly asking myself why would any civilization build this??? Also, HoT fractured the game in too many ways. Lost track how many times I’ve had the urge and died while trying to glide.
btw… Dev’s, make a map that’s environmentally and visually pleasing next time. Why the heck would anyone want to spend a couple thousand hours in a desert? Why would anyone risk there lives for such a place??? I feel like saying “Go ahead and take, knock yourselves out.” instead of defending. Now the OG keep in EotM, that’s a nice area worth defending.
We are looking at adding a way for players to earn Quickloot in WvW as well. We wanted to keep PvE progression (Masteries) separate from WvW progression (Ability Lines). However this means when a new Mastery ability is created, that might also be useful in another gamemode, it doesn’t automatically crossover.
That’s a convoluted pile of horse patty’s right there. It’s an account unlock, period. When I unlock something, I expect it to be GAME WIDE. Not having to figure out what goes where and some invisible gated bs. Stop creating such a fractured gaming experience, it’s not appreciated, nor fun, nor rewarding at all.
Oh, and no WvW equivalent, TYVM. Again, this is an account unlock, period. You make it work in WvW too.
So basically if it doesn’t affect you, you don’t care, lol. Very nice
Your attempt at a personal attack is left wanting. It doesn’t even remotely discuss the topic.
I guess you missed three years worth of threads complaining about population imbalances.
Population imbalances within a tier is all that matters. Tier rotation should never be sought after. Each tier should always viewed and designed as a separate entity. It’s the only way to make a stable and wider “Goldilocks Zone” for the varied types of WvW player.
There is always going to be a way to game the system, I just wish ArenaNet as much effort into balancing WvW population balance and health as the T1 servers do in manipulating population balance and health.
Actually, Arenanet needs to get out of the way. We, the 10’s of thousands of WvW players, can do a much better job of balancing coverage and making enjoyable match ups than a handful of Devs that don’t even play the mode.
T1 needed more players to maintain large scale combat over 24 hours a day. That’s not even debatable at this point. I’m just going to point you to read my previous post on page 1 for the rest.
Lemme grab my Tin Foil Hat for a minute and say, it looks the Devs have a Tactivator on the server status. Maybe the dev’s don’t realize the top servers are all very organized and have our own metrics of our WvW player base?

GJ BG………..
Do they keep it the same so we all have our Elite Specs hour 1?
We’re 5 days into it, not hour 1.
Please please please ANET. Stand your ground. Weren’t Masteries and Unlocking Elite Spec supposed to take longer than getting to level 80 in the base game? Why are you folding to the elite spec complaints and not doing anything about the mastery farming?
Nothing is stopping YOU from doing it as slowly as you like. So this doesn’t affect YOU at all.
will no longer be a challenge
My 50 characters say’s “wut?” Also, it never felt like an accomplishment to level up and hit 80. These gates always feel like the same thing, that we can finally start playing!
Outside of whatever fun could be derived, I don’t know why anyone even does SB.
I was so turned off by some of the economic changes that I logged out shortly after HoT went live. I barely could log in for the next day or so. For a crash, right now players are more than likely burning through savings. Once that dwindles, then things will more than likely start to become unhealthy. And, I measure that more by overall satisfaction, happiness, and level of reward the players express.
No one is discussing the one faucet that was completely removed from the game on Friday too. It’s not replaceable by the upcoming Raids or any other present content. The reclassification of mats also reduce gold generation from vendors.
due to the fact that paying 8 gold for a full day of 50% buffs is just to steep
Which I completely agree with. Though someone in Anet marketing or upper management thinks it should cost either 235 gold or $15.75 US for a full day. Which is what the prices are if one bought the boosters from the gem store. Which was always a ridiculous price.
If it helps any, the games economist has set the global candy corn supply on a steep path toward depletion. If it was an upper management decision, who knows. All I can say with any certainty is that unless things are changed, the Candy Corn supply will run dry in the not too distant future. So Gobbler availability in the gem store or not, it will be prohibitively expensive to use anyway. If the poster earlier thought the item was Pay 2 Win before, imagine what it shall become when it’s priced for only the wealthiest of players to use.
If you ask why I think this, it’s because of the removal of Maize balm functionality and outright removal from the Trick or Treat bag loot table. Couple that with the 250% reduction in Candy Corn from Trick or Treat bags and the Candy Corn supply is no where near sustainable. In spite of the Halloween content, in just the few days since there’s already been a 50% reduction in sell orders.
How destroying such a useful and stable market was thought of as “good” for the game, I’ll never understand.
some thought it was a pay 2 win sort of thing
Because buying boosters, guild buffs, food, etc. doesn’t exists without it? With my tin foil hat on and crystal ball in front of me I see the answer it’s…… “buy gems with money”. That’s always the answer when they play with items and the general economy. Even though the Gobbler cost gems, it’s nothing compared to what they hope you’ll spend year round on boosters.
An ambient bull… maybe Diessa? I know of green and yellow bulls. White ones though I can’t think of off the top of my head.
Maybe the transform only unlocks if you have the Mastery? I’d go to the Shiverpeaks, possibly Dredgehaunt and look. Maybe the Minotaur is considered a bull?
Editing to add, yes there’s a Minotaur Bull in the Shiverpeaks.
snip
Please realize most of any complaints are aimed at upper management You’re doing a fine job getting thins ironed out for us, ty.
How to farm gold for a casual player? I don’t want to spend 2 hours a day chestfarming or champfarming. Dungeons are out of the question, 1.5g for all 3 paths? noty.
I spend most of the time pvping, and then I do pve I mostly do my daily dungeon runs, Teq and TT. Now that dungeons are out of question. Saving gold is terribly difficult now, as it pile up soooo slowly. How to farm gold in a nice way?
Welcome to being gated into buy gems with real currency now.
Since the launch on Friday, all I have seen on the forums is people moaning and the expansion and the so called endless grind and to be honest ots starting to get rather annoying.
See, that’s pretty much what others are feeling ABOUT the expansion. I know I was having more fun and the game felt more fulfilling and rewarding last week before the expansion. I finally put in 8 hours last night and I only was able to unlock two Masteries and my gold and material rewards are non existent. The maps were dead already and events were not being done. I’ll leave out how unhappy I am at the writing of the story so far. Having Mastery gates in the way of progressing the story is incredibly annoying too.
I will give props to the devs who made the Angel Wings into Gliders, amazing job. The art folks fore Tarir is gorgeous. Everything else though hasn’t been fun or fulfilling for me at all. HoT actually removed more than it gave for me.
^ Pretty much spot on. You can tell what generation the developers are when they choose to reward labor poorly and trading highly.
GJ on making a list. I saved up 100,000 bags to do a huge drop rate research video right when HoT launched. I got the download fast and as soon as I saw Min Gwyn at the vendor I said many derogatory things. As I began opening, I said many more negative things and just stopped out of disgust. Especially when you look at that Candy Corn output has been reduced by about 250%. Another is the 33% less vendor value for the contents. That the Ootnz necklaces drop regularly now and the Poly’s already lost 300-400% of their value. And, the HUGE issue is that you are missing the 40 Maize Balms you would have had from opening 1,000 bags last week.
Now that dungeons have been nerfed and we have a slew of new content to trudge through, is silverwastes still top dog when it comes to gold income per hour?
If no ones gotten it yet, HoT really turned the screws on the “If you want anything buy gems.” theme. I was having a lot more fun and it felt far more fulfilling to play last week.
Oh, there’s even more than the Maize functionality changes.
Maize completely removed from loot table.
Candy Corn output from ToT bags was reduced by 250%
Vendor values for Nougat Centers, Chattering Skulls, and Plastic Fangs were reduced by 33%
Oontz necklaces, a once very rare and valueable item is now a fairly common drop.
Mini Gwyn, a once Legendary level mini with about a 4k gold to acquire, is now a fairly common drop. Can even be purchased at a vendor too. Though it appears someone tweaked the rates since Friday morning’s launch already.
So there’s just been a gutting to ToT bags across the board. Next up is going to be how quickly the global Candy Corn supply runs out and the Gobbler is rendered too expensive to use.
What was needed was a new place to harvest outside of Queensdale, preferably gated within the HoT maps or even a raid. Was so hyped to play and find one yet, I’ve barely played since Hot Launched. Within minutes of the download I began witnessing JS’s economic changes. I really can’t stomach how biased his rewards are for content players versus traders.
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
ANET’s decision will be based purely on how much the fiasco affects their bank account.
They already have our money so they won’t give a heck. Someone posted on another thread that they can’t (more likely won’t) uncouple HoT from our base account to issue a refund. They’d deactivate our core account that we’ve been using for 3 years to give us a refund. So, I don’t believe any of us are going to give up our accounts we’ve invested thousands of hours into for the refund.
Lessons learned, never be generous and never pre-order.
The largest complaints are about the time it takes for Masteries, especially redoing old content for the Pact ones. My biggest complaint is actually on the economic changes. Our wealth generating capacity, outside of trading, has been dealt a serious blow. At the same time they introduce new items, new gear, and content that “requires” Ascened gear which just went up in the price to craft too.
Also completely salty over the Trick or Treat loot tables. I turned the game right off not even an hour after launch and didn’t come back in until late last night.
oh and as someone with many alts, these specialization unlocks should have been account wide. Some of us actually have more than one character per profession.
Or orrrrr, here is a fun idea. Play for fun not grind. Masterys are going to happen eventually.
Maybe mindlessly killing everything we come across isn’t really “fun” anymore? Maybe being productive and having goals is more fulfilling in the end?
Mastery Points or the experience required to use them?
personal bank guilds would be worthless
As salty as I am over today’s economic changes, I’ll defend the dev’s on this one. Guild Banks were grandfathered over and we lost no functionality at all. Your personal guild bank has as much value as it did yesterday pre-patch.
Sooo… Halloween is basically a washout this year
I’ve done this before too OP.
umm.. wut? The drop rates for the rare items was lowered, A LOT. Everything in ToT bags is much more common now.
You mean “increased” I suppose.
Yes TY I’m honestly SO fuming mad on the subject economics in game right now, I can’t even think straight.
…. Could you make it any more obnoxious? Is it just me or does anyone else find it in poor taste? Such an eyesore every time I zoom the map out.
In general you don’t need to buy as much stuff with the map rewards system in place. you can actually go earn your own stuff and skip the TP altogether now.
LOL, this advice is basically a “Can I haz ur stuf?” as it’s not at all correct. I really can’t even believe you’d mention map rewards. They are next to worthless in this game.
Look, if you did not like the economy before, do yourself a favor and not even install again. I’m telling you flat out straight, they screwed the economy today and it’s going to take some time to unkitten it.
umm.. wut? The drop rates for the rare items was lowered, A LOT. Everything in ToT bags is much more common now.
