In your case the effort was obtaining 100K or more T&T bags, likely from the TP or “grinding” (another word open for definition) the previous Halloween event.

Mini Gwyn’s status created a lot of interest in the game for me. Because another option to get one, after grinding the heck out of last years event, was to set up the farming spots we did. I have an entire RP event around Trick or Treat farming. I have special characters, special guild tags, and was very good at organizing the harvest. I was quite proud of seeing players work together with such precision on the production mechanism we built. Which also got removed from game today with these changes. These changes overall feel like a blanket nerf to Halloween with a “here, have everything at the vendor” and then forget it existed.

oh, editing to add I’m at way more than 100k bags opened too. Heck, I had 100k in the bank just to open today first thing. Had all this planned for while and was ready to do a drop rate research video and poof, that all died before even the official launch when I saw Gwyn in the vendor.

Look, if people don’t understand this, Mini Gwyn was basically a Legendary mini. This change was the equivalent of taking Eternity and making it a common drop. So you can imagine those of us who invested a lot of time and effort into getting one over the year, this feels like crap. For me, all of the fun and excitement of launch completely derailed and is stuck in a ditch.

Wait what? Playing Halloween content and progressing on Masteries is exactly what a lot of players want to do. That looks like an extreme oversight by the dev’s to not have it functioning. Looks like all the Hype turning into a HoT mess in an instant.

I’m seriously kittened by this. Opening freaking 1.5 mil bags to get the mini only so they make it totally worthless now. I’m so disappointed.

Yeah, if they just left the ToT bags and maize alone, I’d be happy. Now, I’m extremely close to contacting support and asking for a refund for all my HoT purchases. At the very least, Anet’s definitely cut off from any future purchases from me.

Oh, the mini Gwyn drop rate is much more common now. I’m looking at 1 in 2000 range atm. Oontz Necklaces drop frequently now too. Pretty much everything about ToT bags and their contents that made them valuable is toast.

Incredibly salty that a fun form of being productive in game has been lost.

Just wanted to point out that Maize doesn’t even drop from ToT bags any longer. So beside the nerf in functionality, it was completely removed as a drop.

Yeah, not happy about this. After a couple hundred hours farming the whole year to get one, they do this. Then they remove Maize farming completely on top of it.

The intention is to DESTACK!!! Boy I wish I could post the Moe clip “Spread Out”.

Who’s “intention” as there’s not enough WvW players in NA T1 as it is for large scale combat. So the answer to anyone’s destack request is a flat out, NO! If you don’t like large scale combat, then you go to or stay in the lower tiers. For those of us that want LARGE SCALE COMBAT back we have to move up, consolidate, and STACK!

The population is getting really bad when you can find more players to fight in EotM than in WvW…… That’s why many of the Worlds are attempting Blackouts to fix what the dev’s neglected and broke.

It’s a matter of taste really. You prefer to pretend your characters have accomplished things. I prefer that my characters actually accomplished things. You’re not wrong, I simply don’t share your viewpoint.

And, whom said my characters have not accomplished things? The issue is the redundancy as we, the real life human being, are the actual entity experiencing and accomplishing things. Now nothing prevents a player from doing content over again per character for their own personal experience. Though forcing players to do content over and over and over again is completely different. A design that will lead to repetitive and non engaging game play. For example, I’m betting the majority of character’s in game do not have map complete. Why is that, because the human being doesn’t want to do it again and again. Especially when it’s such a poor experience to do but, that’s a different conversation. Though most players I’ve come in contact with have expressed they did it once and never want to do it again. That’s why the game has to be designed around the human experience and not the pixels.

You have over 50 characters specifically because you don’t care about characters as a concept.

Characters are, thematically, individuals. They have individual stories, classes, races, etc. from both a mechanical and a storytelling standpoint

For one thing, your view of a character is extremely limited as only the actual human experience is what matters. And, our experiences are filtered and altered by the characters we chose to represent us in the moment. Thus, I have that many because they all have themes created to go with content and my desires at said time. Do you have characters with names and appearances for holidays like Halloween and Wintersday??? You probably do not. Though some of us are creative and like to make the most of such times. The cost of a character should not dissuade a player from exploring such experiences. That’s why these specializations should be account unlocks as traits used to be. Also, the issue may be compounded in the future if this precedent of having to unlock everything first before the new specialization. How long will it take to obtain a new specialization on top of the core profession and previous specialization? To sit there and think, “Hey, wouldn’t it be great to run a Sylvari (shiny new specialization) in this content!” but, the thought of having to spend 120 hours to roll and level stops a player from doing so. To me, that many hours would be extremely prohibitive and well into the “oh kitten that” time frame. Diminishing and stifling the creativity and number of characters created. Which, in the end, would limit how colorful and grand Tyria could be.

My thought on it is this, I thought we were finally getting somewhere with moving toward account based unlocks. Characters should be, for the most part, replaceable. Our accounts should be the focus of progression and the character just a visual representation of us. That’s why I like Masteries but, Specializations shouldn’t be so long to obtain. Especially when they’ll likely add more in the future. Say I have a Reaper and wanted to replace the character, how long would it take to roll a fresh character and actually play as a Reaper again? That repetition and duration is what I’m worried about in the future.

I completely disagree.

Characters should always be the focus of progression. Interchangable characters create a balance environment where your developer ends up not really caring when things are broken. “So what if class X can’t do content Y? They can just roll class Z and transfer the rewards”

Not only that, it completely kills any sense of accomplishment or fondness for individual characters. It’s an RPG. Characters are things that are supposed to evolve over time based upon the trials they face and the challenges they overcome.

Certain account based systems that allow you to give alts an advantage are cool. You obviously built this support system. Completely replacing character advancement is not cool at all. At that point you may as well remove characters as a system entirely, and just have a single avatar you can respec at will.

There is literally not point to alts when you remove character based advancement systems, and no reward for advancing those alts.

As someone with over 50 characters, I disagree with you. The system as it’s described does not stimulate growth, it stifles it. It makes it so punishing to want to change and to grow a new character that people won’t change and won’t explore new characters. How many are holding on to old characters just because of irreplaceable crafting recipes? If you need a trait to RP or feel accomplished, than you need to work on your RP. Oh and for balance, this game has two modes of PvP. Every profession and race will always require balance. I, the player, should always be the focus of all design and that includes progression. I, we, are our accounts first and foremost. Characters are a subset of our accounts.

Sadly…it is the WvW Community that will always suffer after these drastic changes are constantly done to redress the Server Stacking.

Both of these and for the most part this entire thread are absurd. The population limits have been set FAR TOO LOW! Have any of you actually done the math on the man hours required to run 4 maps at capacity???? Server stacking is EXACTLY what’s required to accomplish this and fill coverage across a server. It’s simple, if you don’t like night capping or getting rolled in a time slot, then you get off your butt and recruit for that time slot. Why, because balance doesn’t magically happen! The next problem then becomes there are not enough players to run Large Scale WvW like that on NA 24 servers. Which is why they must either consolidate NA servers, make the Tiers have descending map capacities per tier, reduce the number of total maps per tier, or create Alliances. Any attempt to thinly spread out the remaining NA WvW population across the 24 servers is absurd. It’s the exact opposite of what’s required. We want Large scale combat 24/7, not freaking PvD.

Every time I see these types of complaints I want to start Gibb smacking people. Good Tier matchups don’t just happen as they take thought, effort, and sacrifice. Which it obviously sounds like the OP and others don’t understand in life. If you want a carefree carebear, I just log in and fight where’s my medal, type of game mode then EotM is that way —-—->

Side note: there’s nothing wrong with EotM as a mode, it’s very enjoyable for that kind of play.

You are PST, you should be queued up to come in to replace the EST players when they log for bed. You did not sit in a Queue for over 3 hours. Which means you have been able to play on reset earlier in the evening, relative to your time zone, than EST players. Which means you also had more time to play on reset than the EST players whom have 9-5 schedules too. All that while being on a T1 NA server.

The Saturday reset is needed

It’s been 165 weeks since launch and only 35 of them have had an update on a Friday. Now how many of them were after regular business hours and that would most likely reduces the number to a mere handful. Thus, I cannot believe that Saturday is “needed”. Sure, for the first Friday, we’d all agree they’ll be a lot of updates. But, a bug a week later or even two weeks later that HAS to be patched after regular business hours on a Friday??? That just doesn’t seem probable at all. Heck, I think a lot of us would rather you take WvW down for the first week completely. Then bring the new maps online when you can put the resources toward it. Would rather lose a week than lose Friday reset forever. At the very least, Plan C should have been “Alright, give them back their Friday and they’ll have to deal with any updates.”

On a side note, it’s really hard to take Anet seriously when it feels like organized WvW and World communities aren’t even welcome in GW2 any longer.

I’d like to give “Constructive Feedback” but, I’m still filled with far too much anger at the decisions being made. Nothing they are designing is helping build World communities. Everything being done feels like a deliberate slap in the face to the top organized Worlds. I’ll go so far as say it feels like the dev’s are designing to basically break the mode. I know a lot of us have been asking why so much PvE type design choices in the new maps. Asking ourselves why it feels like the new maps are going to turn WvW into EotM 2.0. Well, this change feels like another push toward that end.

My “Constructive Feedback” is that whomever is on the design team for WvW needs to be reassigned. They are not WvW players at heart and have no clue what motivates us to play and what we enjoy. If for no other reason than the fact that next week is the Expansion and I should be absolutely ecstatic!!! Instead, I barely feel like logging in.

Gold to Gems shouldn’t be considered in the calculations at all. It’s entirely dictated by the imbalance in gems bought vs gems sold. Gems bought is dictated by gold availability and desirable items on the Gem Shop.

As a good Tyrian, I do put a portion of my gold toward Gems to keep their value up. Even if there’s nothing I want at the moment.

Here’s the full quote. I’m posting this to point out of few things. For one thing, notice the first sentence say’s weapons. Then notice the “salvaging of some materials” and “rebalance heavily input materials with more rare materials”. So if you are salvaging and getting a lot of unwanted items, you may be getting more rare materials now instead. Nothing in that paragraph sounds that bad to me. In fact, what’s written there sounds good to me.

It’s very simple, SM is rarely held or upgraded any longer. That Castle is supposed to be the “Big Thing” of WvW to grab and hold. Way pointing SM used to be a huge accomplishment. Now, no one ever really tries to way point it at all. It just acts as a huge supply shed and something to KTrain. They are adding bonuses to it to make it worth holding. There’s nothing wrong with that at all.

For the conversation of SM not being held or flipped often, I just checked Millenium for how long SM has been held for. Here’s are the minutes held in descending tier order.

NA : 9, 19, 19 18, 70, 196, 69, 349
EU: 13, 52, 5, 12, 52, 773, 1, 7, 13

So except for the 3 outlier’s, SM is rarely ever held and upgraded any longer.

However, any fix shouldn’t punish someone for being where they are.

Anything outside of the 24/7 mode is punishing players for living and having the schedule they have. For most of these posted suggestions, the mode should not be altered to accommodate poorly managed worlds at all. Building a competitive World is what the mode is about. What the Dev’s need to look at is how to empower World building. Right now they are so focused on Guilds and the expansion that they are letting World building go to heck. What’s worse is any changes they have made have in fact hampered World building.

For starters, there is no such thing as “night capping”. Because there is no one singular “prime time” of day. That type of thinking, that level of self importance, IS a big problem. Think about this, a “prime time” is a small window of time lasting 12.5% of the day. Such a small percentage of time should never outweigh the other 87.5% of the day. Every minute matters and has to be equal to all others. Asking the Dev’s to meddle with the equality is asking for disaster to the mode.

This is going to be harsh but, let me round up the numbers and be blunt about what this thread is basically about. Players are saying, “We’re only good for 20% of the day and suck for the remaining 80%. Make us win still please Devs???” The answer from them should be a solid 100%, NO!

This really needs to be looked into ASAP. Would like to experience the canopy and such but, you can’t without unlocking some masteries. Which of course needs points to do!

You need one point to get up there (Basic Gliding) and two to fully explore it (Updraft OR bouncy mushrooms). You have access to two points.

But yes, it should be reported and looked at.

Thief traps dont reveal as they dont do direct damage

Obviously then, it’s something that needs a rework and should be consider an exploit. It was impossible to kill, you couldn’t target it at all, and yet could do extremely high condi damage. All with never showing up on my combat log. Just the ticks of the specific condi damage was visible, not the source. Anyone telling me that’s working as intended has a truly warped perception of balance. There’s a reason why Choking Gas now reveals as it’s not intended to be able to stay in stealth AND do damage.

And yet, just yesterday I did Weyandt’s Revenge and noticed it was too dark to the point of annoyance. And no, I’m not referring to the dark room, the JP in general.

OP, what are your settings and what are you changing for “bloom”? Also, what is your viewing environment? Is it a dark room or a bright sunlit room? Does you monitor have the capacity for and calibrated toward, a higher cd/m2 value? All these things change ones perception of brightness. The dev’s have to design around a wide array of video displays.

It was already corrected to “recommended”. So let’s drop it now and move on. I have my doubts Raids will be that difficult to begin with. More than likely they’ll require coordination and tactics more than special gear.

They said it all should transfer over just fine, just pray for no bug/server issues to cause us issues.

That’s what raised a red flag and prompted me to create this thread. The “should” was worrisome and I wonder if it’s just safer to empty the vaults now while we still can. Since there are no recovery options available to us if Anet loses our goods within guild banks.

If Ranger’s are good enough for you to roll three of them, you cannot complain. As they obviously must have done a good enough job for you to roll three of them!

The boon duration’s were ridiculous and we all knew it was going to get corrected, asap. So please stop the whining already? You’re making the Ranger community look pathetic.
