i was disapointed
That’s Gloomy Hallow for ya’. I was really expecting A LOT more from a magical Golden City theme.
Uh… I don’t think a T1 server needs more players. I don’t care if you have less than what you used to have, you still have more WvWers than most other servers. How about spread people out instead of bandwagoning them all on to one server? Makes for more interesting match ups because it’s not constantly one sided…
For those that are considering transferring, think about moving to a tier other than T1. The other servers may not have 24/7 coverage but they aren’t total ghost towns either, other than T7 – T8, although even those tiers still have a bit of activity.
kitten are roughly the same but T2 is pretty one sided since TC is effectively T1.5
Avoid bandwagoning too heavily on to one server or it makes for incredibly boring match ups.
That’s not how Wvw works in T1. The transferring that takes place is more of a shuffling between the top worlds to balance and make the matches more interesting.
If someone at Anet saw your name and instantly thought of drugs, then we know what kind of folks are working at Anet…. The heck with Urban Dictionary too! You put it in Google and you get the correct answer which is a food.
If their intention is to have only 5% of the player population finish the raids
Surely that would be a horrible business decision. Think about any future updates to Raids and the rage over the fact that Anet is wasting resources on such a small population of the game.
Or…… she Obi-Wan’d it! That’s what I’m going with for now. That maybe Wolf didn’t abandon her after all.
Big Burns.
What Da’ Fritten is THAT???? 30k!
So technically you could equip it to a level 78 crafted backpiece and not only keep an infusion slow but also lose almost no stats at all, though you wouldn’t lose 200 regardless of how you use it.
That said, it’s weird that there’s this one exception for cosmetic items not handled via the wardrobe. It’s probably because of how tremendously uncommon these are.
Technically, no you can’t as it has a level 80 requirement, not level 78. For the OP, you are not losing points at all. At triple stat Ascended back has 142 total stat points. An exotic triple stat plus the celestial Poly has 157 total stat points. Even if one would argue you wanted only those exact three stats, that’s 109 points for only a loss of 34 total points. A similarly negligible loss of 41 points, if counting only the triple stats, when putting it in an Accessory.
Anyone else pretty upset that you cannot put these in Ascended items…. It does not make any sense at all that I have to equip an exotic trinket to get the effect but lose about 200 stat points and an agony slot.
Everyone who owns them is upset you can’t even put them in an account bound trinket, so it’s ‘stuck’ to whoever is using it.
However, I don’t see this getting “fixed” anytime soon.
Huh? Who says you cannot put them into an account bound trinket? There may be some which do not work, but I know for sure that others DO work because I have one of those refractors in my cultivated vine backpack and another in my enchanted key accessory from lions arch (the one you get for completing the map from the enchanted map parts).
Find me a trinket that remains account bound after adding the poly-lumi. There are plenty of account bound exotics; the only one I know that remains that way after upgrading costs 1,000 karka shells.
These are salvagable even…..

Gliders in Tyria .. will it ever happen ? [Merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: DeWolfe.2174
Gliding will never be a free-to-play feature, because its a selling point for HoT, but it might be enabled for HoT players that are playing in Central Tyria, if the maps get re-rigged to support gliders.
I was gliding in the Silverwaste, no rigging required. Do the personal story on an alt and you can Glide in that beginning instance. I’d bet we could Glide game wide by simply enabling it or not locking it out.
far outside primetime
Again, as it’s been pointed out, the game mode is global and open 24 hours a day. Just as there is no night, there also is no day, nor is there a prime time.
buffs are crucial
Pfft, not when you factor in the ROI!
turned out to be something with one players client.
AFAIK it was an account, not client issue. Otherwise, a simple repair or re-install would have fixed it.
About a 3. The saving grace for me is that most of my characters have an Angel theme. So the White Feather Wings and gliding is pretty much the entirety of fun for me from HoT. The rest is just gate and grind, gate and grind. Not one HoT map for exploration without a Meta event running. Convoluted maps with actual barriers on timers preventing the flow of traffic and exploration. Then of course Masteries preventing exploration. Speaking and gating, all these new locks, keys, and bags are getting ridiculous to carry around. Between Dry Top, the Silver Wastes, and the four Hot Maps, it’s really ridiculous how much we have to carry around. The economic changes and heavy gold sinks suck away the feeling of getting ahead too. Then of course are the WvW changes….
First, I’d like to say that her death annoyed me. Not like “oh I’m so going to kill Mordy now!!!!” My anger was fully focused on the dev’s for how disappointing and poorly done the story telling was. Hopefully they can redeem themselves and bring Eir’s back as an explanation for the Celestial Avatar.
Besides most of what been written, how many of us could have saved her? We have NPC’s and the player with vast abilities. Kasmeer alone could have easily saved her. Then add Super Rytlock and none of it makes a lick of sense.
Considering the sheer price of this expansion, I expected a lot more from the story than this.
3 years, they show absolutely zero love and zero support to this game mode. It deserves to die.
As much as I may not prefer the new BL for WvW purposes, someone put A LOT of love and effort into creating it. We should consider that while presenting our opinions on it.
I know how dyes are acquired. I know how to salvage them for pigments.
And scribe is still poorly designed. The balance between large and small guilds is clearly on the large guild side for scribes. I know they didn’t want large guilds to simply walk into their guild hall and automatically have everything. But in the design process large guilds can still walk in and get everything because they have the personnel to get all the resources fast.
So it costs less for large guilds to unlock the scribe?
Per player, yes.
Grabbing the Gilded (Gloomy) Hallow, the first thing I wanted to do is decorate it with lighting. Now I see that even lighting basic decorations are gated. I don’t even know how high a Guild level you have to get before unlocking torches. It’s probably something nuts like lvl 40.
Nice trolling there Dev’s….
The most likely answer is that the Feather Wings were created and rigged for Gliding to begin with. Remember they were developing the expansion when these items came out. The other back items predate the expansion and more than likely are not compatible.
btw, I’m extremely happy that we received the Feather Wings as glider skins. For me it’s probably the best part of the entire expansion. So no, it wasn’t done just to annoy you personally.
I do not appreciate a Snipers “Charged Shot” for being non reflectable. Removing active skills like reflects should not be encouraged.
The opposite of love is not hate, but indifference. Hate is another form of love.
Umm…. no, no not at all.
Am I the only person that hates the pocket raptor herds?
Nope. I hate them, too.
There could be a lot less of them and it wouldn’t bother me a bit.
The one group of Mobs I don’t mind. I literally jump into the middle of 5 or 10 of them and hit 2 buttons and they die.
There are a lot of “unfriendly” design choices being made here. HoT has so much put into hard interrupts and evades but, punishes reflects and blinds. Snipers are a perfect example of this bs. I’d swear there’s something with condi stacking on some of the mobs too. But, it’s probably the condi duration nerf that’s killing my condi builds.
Oh, editing to add that the DS meta event is completely designed around a Zerker 1111111 approach. Basically the HoT mobs are zerker themselves.
The Tangled Hell Meta is pretty much:
Start at the top left >>> Big tree in mid >>> head S by SW and jump down every hole you can find until you hit the Ley Line corridor. Head west to DS and never look back
As I’ve posted many times, Guilds should not be prioritized in WvW, period! Worlds need to be a cohesive military force. Buffs need to be available to every soldier of a World because they all matter equally. Not gating buffs to social cliques, especially to only the largest large social cliques at that.
The entire design concept of gating WvW buffs to guilds is a complete failure….
The Mentor tag should just be removed as a bad idea. Players aren’t using it to mentor, they are using it for vanity. Especially with that “Mentor” in chat.
How about something really simple and easy like, being able to toggle the “Leader of the Pact” icon? Just right click it and there’s a red line through it showing it’s disabled. Click it again and the line goes away and it’s enabled. There done easy peasy, k? It’s probably taken more man hours for players to read and reply to this thread than for a dev to make this work.
A side note, if you think swiftness is bad, wait until you start trying a JP with gliding I always always long press the space bar while jumping. I wish I could toggle off or separate gliding from jumping.

And yes, this is even a consumer protection issue for Anet. Those one time decorations were a selling feature for us to buy the Deluxe account. Now stolen and irreplaceable…..
Just one question and that’s who??? Anet needs to ban this person immediately. Calling Chris Cleary!!!!!…. we need a hero on this one. This is just a seriously dishonorable attack upon good people and they need help.

you should not be playing video games at all
No, video games can be safely played if designed properly. The dev’s need to have a little bit of restraint on all the effects that blink or have particles. I means seriously, the utilities DO NOT have to freaking blink. On a side note, I feel the dev’s should have a bit more restraint on the effects as it’s getting a bit gaudy anyway.
This is the first step to fix WvW. All other fixes need to come after this issue is solved.
Balance WvW population using the megaserver system and grouping together all servers of a region using the server ranking as below:
NO!
They know how to build worlds that encourage interconnection and yet somehow Guild Wars fails in this which leads to me wonder if it us the modern players who don’t fit the mold of a true online community anymore.
On the contrary, everything they’ve done has been “anti” world. For starters, they never gave Worlds a theme and backstory. At least we had “our place” in Tyria to call home. Then the Mega Server took that all away and is a huge anti world design. Not only do we not have a place to call home in game, we now have no way to communicate amongst ourselves. Having transfer cost is mostly anti world. Having population locks are anti world. Promoting guilds over Worlds by having WvW buffs gated to large guilds only is anti world.
So no, I don’t think they have a clue how to make Worlds meaningful or how to build world communities. Most of what makes WvW come alive is from the players themselves using third party solutions.
What is point of luck when most these HoT event mobs drop absolutely nothing; most loot comes from bags/clickables now.
It was a great gold sink for morons like myself that maxed it. Then the dev’s remove most of it’s usefulness afterwards. Just say “Magic Find” and then watch that Spanish guy laughing video.
To be honest, I rather have bags that stack than truck loads of worth crap that doesn’t stack.
We need a Garbage Bag!!! Like an inventory bag, but it’s a garbage bag that holds idk, say 250 junk items. This way we can fill it and just vendor the whole bag at once. No need to see the contents even.
I’m also getting sick of all the “keys” required to open things. Having all this crap on a character is really draining when you swap to an alt.
<with a hoity chuckle>My character: “That looks valuable.”
Me: “What, the blue mace you can’t use?”
Well, it is a Charr. They are so simple minded….
Your issue is your playing to gain gold not have fun which is why your finding the reduced rewards to be “ruining” things for you. I hate to sounds like a broken record but as other people have said, just play the game. Enjoy it. The money will roll in.
Just like in real life, if you do not keep up with inflation, you’ll lose purchasing power. That’s the problem with the game now. I can’t just run around a map for “enjoyment” when I know I’m constantly falling behind by doing so. Unfortunately, that’s what the dev’s want. They want that feeling of falling behind, that need to drive gems sales. Pre Hot, I’d spend real currency as a reward to the Dev’s for a great job and for the entertainment value provided. Now, it’s this constant weight sucking and pulling at us. Especially with the extreme gold sinks like Guild Halls added.
so far no………..
They also moved all the WvW buffs (like +5 supply) out of the core game and into HoT. It’s a pretty shady move.
This bothers me because every citizen of a World should be equal. Those within a social clique (guild) should not have a greater capacity to contribute or priority. Just another example of why there’s a general erosion and lack of building of World communities.
I don’t know what world you are on but, you can try guesting to a full one. In NA you’d want to guest to JQ or BG. That would be the best shot of finding maps with more players. The other is then using the LFG tool.
Oh, don’t forget to check the Spiders as there may be people there. There may also be afk’s at spawn or the Guild Hall entrance as well. The map may just appear quiet but, not really be.
I already said this isn’t a replacement for WvW. This game mode would be a replacement for eotm.
And for those that genuinely like EotM? Especially those that like EotM and dislike the new desert map??? So how about no and no and then maybe another no.
GJ on creating this spec sheet OP! I do appreciate such exacting details.
I’ll let you kill me for half the bounty.
Few hours outside spawn and we’re rich.
I meet you in the OS lobby
After a couple hours I figured out to just let the NPC’s wipe and it reset them and the story continued.
Was wondering about this part of the story because I’ve stalled after picking up the first salvaged piece, then meeting the Sylvari solider. It shows a circle where to look but, nothing is there. This would be the area where we can be snipers.
Oh and EotM stays right where it is! A lot of players enjoy and actually prefer EotM to WvW. It would be incredibly selfish of us to demand anyone play on a bl or EB instead. Especially demanding they play on those new bl’s….
This is why I left my first reply as short as possible, to prevent any rebuttal. I do not appreciate any attempts to discriminate against players and separating all our worlds. Especially when you wish to do so by time??? WvW runs around the clock and as such requires communities to be built for continuous coverage. That’s why your concept is a non starter right from the get go. Remove any time prioritizing and begin again.
The only people currently unhappy with the changes are Tier 1 servers.
Incoming vocal vocal vocal minority.
The rest of the population seems to think it was a good move, even if it will take a while to fully materialize.
Minority, you mean the single largest group of players??? And this, “rest of the population” you are speaking for? btw, aren’t you in EU to begin with?
You have this 100% backwards. If queues would drive balance they would have done so over the past 3 years. Top tiers have queues and lower tiers that don’t are open for transfers, yet here we are.
That is the mistake in your thinking, they do not have queues. No world has consistently full maps any longer. Which leads to this…
There are plenty of players who would be happy to sit in queue for half an hour just to see their server winning both the ppt game and the zerg fight by sheer numbers.
How do you win by sheer numbers if everyone has a full map???? You can only win by sheer numbers when one side has more, not when it’s equal. That’s why spreading players out only lessens the players on map, allowing for greater imbalances.
What action are they supposed to take?
Free transfers and drop all servers to very high. Let the players choose and figure it out.
Letting players choose is going to lead to utter imbalance in the end.
Just look at PvP hot join. Winning or losing really don’t matter there. But ppl still game it to extreme to get a victory. With your suggestion, WvW will simply become a large scale meaningless hot-join game.
Oh really? And, what is it we have now?
Population balance will come from the Queues. That has always been the deciding factor. When waiting becomes impractical and boring, players will move to a place they can get right in. Not only will it help balance across matches, it’ll help with coverage too. Because the problems aren’t from too many players, it’s from having too few players.
The next question will undoubtedly be, but what about the lower tiers… Unfortunately, Anet mistakenly over estimated the number of servers required at launch and needs to rectify it. Either that or simply make an Alliance level that Worlds can join into.
Overall, empowering the player is the solution. Players want to PLAY! They want good matches and they want to have fun. They are willing to move around to create this. It’s Anet that’s starving out and depleting WvW right now.
btw.. I didn’t say to leave it open forever, just right now it’s needed for a couple weeks to get things balanced out and running again.
What action are they supposed to take?
Free transfers and drop all servers to very high. Let the players choose and figure it out.
Too much PvE!!! There I said it and if a Dev doesn’t understand the complaint, they can ask me directly. Otherwise, they (the dev’s) should understand and accept the phrasing as being the environment, in general, either has too much of an affect on or is inhibiting combat in some fashion. There’s no need to “be specific” for you, another player, when there’s no developer interaction taking place.
