One thing that could help is an increase in the amount of characters in a name. I’ve had trouble working around that numerous times.

Yes, this is a thing that should be pretty high on the Dev list. The QoL on this is surprisingly large. Because I don’t know about anyone else but, the moment I see special character’s in a name, that person is dead to me. Not even going to bother trying to type it out. They are just dead to me…..
OP, I have 40 to 50 characters and haven’t had too much trouble naming them. I created my original character at launch with a surname. Most of my character since have followed with that surname. It’s especially helpfully in maintaining relationships in game as players know the surname, not the first name. Even my “colorfully” named characters for PvP haven’t been too hard to create.
GS Reaper needs some work. I actually do not use scepter as the blind and pull on GS is valuable. Even though “Nightfall” needs a lot of work too. That interval needs to be 1 sec.
The problem with this is that the only way to fix ones MMR is to lose and/or not play for a week straight. Kinda goes against the whole point of playing.
If players were allowed to smurf they way to Legendary, certainly doing what you have to just play the mode again should be ok. It’s sad and ridiculous but, it’s what’s forced upon the player.
Players whom smurfed to Diamond and Legendary probably stopped or slowed down playing after that. So those of us in left playing, especially in Ruby, are too few in numbers. I know my queues have been over 15 minutes in general. I really don’t know how long they would have gone. After 15 minutes I give up and do something else or log at that point. Someone told me in map chat that I have to fix my MMR. That’s pretty F’d up if winning means I’m forced to play less.
Because this is “fun” and “balanced”? This is not how the game should be played….

It’s not the worst, it’s just not the cheesiest in Conquest. That right there makes a HUGE difference. Rifle/GS DPS potential is pretty extreme atm.

I’d like the Alpine maps back. If nothing else for the reason that I find the desert maps to be a poor environment. Don’t care for the theme and aesthetics. If I choose to play for hours on a map, I’d like it to be of a theme I like and care for. I run across that desert map and think to the enemies, “You can keep it”. Obviously that’s not very conductive to WvW.
Warrior isnt that bad acually, ive met this guy ingame who was very successful with it in pvp, think his name was “John Conneer” or something simular.

Now let me clue you in, the game isn’t that interesting any more. HoT content is 3 months old and been done to death. So most players are multi tasking by watching TV and Netflix, talking on the phone, web browsing, etc. while playing. I auto run into walls all the time before looking back to the screen to turn the character. It’s called players giving no cares and not paying much attention.
Let’s be fair here, since launch how long has the Ele been in the meta? After 3 years I think we can safely say, as a profession, it’s been in the limelight more than any other.

Pretty much this as I’ve been arguing over this since launch. Instagibbing should never be a thing.
I believe they want to make things faster paced.
Here’s the thing with that, from a player perspective, there’s nothing faster than actually being in active combat. Increasing the offense to defense ratio so that we die more rapidly is in fact slowing the game down. Because there’s nothing more boring than waiting to respawn and running all the way back. Now, from the point of view of a spectator, it might appear to be speeding things up.
There’s 13 different conditions available that an Ele won’t be immune to any longer. This will hurt the offensive capability of builds with a narrow availability of condition types. Though this will help builds with a wider array of conditions or from multiple attackers with dissimilar condition availability.
So… getting matched up with all legendary PZ while my team was just ruby rank? Explain how THAT is fair matchmaking? This fix is even worse than before. At least the amber farmers were easier to combat than this crap. Think I’m done for the season, which is too bad because I finally found people I like playing with.
What’s worse is seeing guilds break up into partial teams and smurfing and tossing matches in SH.The manipulation is obscene. I was one pip from Ruby when I ran into a group doing this and was stuck on the “tossing the match” side twice. 4 hours of work lost to these humps.
I really wish we could post screen shots with names. Some of these players “working” the system should get Wall of Shame treatment.
I’m worried about Fresh Air Ele with Karl saying, “Air grandmaster traits will be getting usability and damage improvements”. The staff “Lightning Rod” burst build is insane! Then you have Fresh Air Tempest with it’s overload which hits far too hard. Yet, they want to buff power output?
It’s far better than Conquest. Conquest has always been a poor PvP mode.
For this match up, it should never occur.
Here’s a pet peeve that hasn’t been listed, it’s a freaking Desert! Life doesn’t flourish in a Desert. It’s instinctual to avoid such an inhospitable environment. So why the Dev’s thought players would want to spend hundreds to thousands of hours in there, building and defending, boggles the mind.
For the most part, players are looking for greener pastures.
The OP figured it out on his own. Though for duration stacking conditions, like Chill, it’s simply first come first served. There’s no overriding taking place for those with more or any condition damage being applied. Since Chill’s capacity to apply damage is exclusive to a properly traited Reaper, that leaves every other source of Chill effectively blocking the Reaper’s and the Teams capacity to output damage. Which is kinda of a steaming pile of Bunk and should be changed.

That’s pretty misleading when they said it’ll be open all year. Obviously people were complaining about BOTH drinks and candy canes. This really needs to be changed.

Josh and Karl, thank you for taking the time to read all this. It makes my head spin after reading the Wish List everyone has posted.
How about we add some dimension to this thread by having players put some player info in them? I’m thinking something like main professions and a general build label. Something like, for me, “Viper Reaper” then I’d follow it with a paragraph or more of what I’d like to see balanced. This way we can try to deduce the interaction of builds. I ask this because mostly people ask for changes to builds that counter the ones they use.
Tempest is not as strong as Mesmer atm. They do not use a cheap spam daze mechanics like Druid. Nerf Druid/Mesmer, then maybe we can talk about Tempest.
No instead tempast uses cheap aura spam and 40% mitigation protection spam with frost aura (another 10% mitigation), with brain dead aoe damage spam.
In truth almost every class elite specialization needs nefing tempast included.

Yes, stronghold needs to go from ranked. All diamonds+ I know farmed pips in stronghold but know nothing about pvp (they admit this).
No no, because conquest does NOT own the Player versus Player label. A metric kitten ton of WvW players would like to have a word with you about what’s Player versus Player then. Stronghold IS Player versus Player too and deserves to be recognized as such.

Why would you think that the people who brought you the Desert BL are going to do anything positive with the Alpine map? Talk about wishful thinking.
Hey now, the Desert map may be depressing and not be conducive for fights but, that’s what players demanded in the CDI’s. If players stop using “blob” like it’s some other four letter words, we wouldn’t have the maps designed as they are. Otherwise, there was a lot and I mean a lot of love put into that map. Since they’re quiet I’ve actually spent quiet a bit of time simply RP walking around them taking in the scenery. There’s an amazing level of detail put into the new map. We have to give credit where credit is due…….

I have had a ton of fun with HoT, there are things in it I have yet to experience despite many hours played, I don’t feel stupid for having bought the Ultimate Edition, and unless my life goes very poorly by the time the next expansion hits I’m sure I’ll be buying the biggest version of that.

I thought the same thing when I heard Colin say another expansion. Since I have a lot of accounts, it cost quite a lot to upgraded them all to HoT. The upgrades ranged from Ultimate to Basic’s. To only see people posting photo’s of a Walmart selling physical copies of “HoT” for $25 not even 6 or so weeks later. I’m certainly going to be hesitant to pre-order again after that. Besides the fact that I felt and still feel “HoT” is overpriced.
WvW is collapsing from the weight of malaise. The WvW community is suffering from depression and needs an injection of passion and life! Think of all the things that symbolize a flourishing life and that’s what’s needed in WVW. An arid desert is certainly not it

Though it very obvious for me to see that they have been working on WvW. In that I have no doubts at all actually. My issues are what they are planning and whom they’ve been listening to for their “player input”.

For population, I’ve always recommended to the Dev’s to uncork transfer’s. Let players go on vacation and freely move about and be. We’’ll find our way and more than likely have fun in the process.

How can you say I’m wrong in what my experience was? It’s “my” experience! I believe they had the right concept with making the story episodic in nature. In reality, it probably doesn’t matter what was better as a player experience. Anet corporate is looking at last quarters sales figures and saying, “MOAR DAT!”

please put in a toggle hotkey or option to enable/disable gliding.
All they have to do is, in the options panel for Hot Keys, place an option for Gliding in the movement section. This way you can select the Hotkey that toggles Gliding or leave it blank. Then you’ll never be able to Glide until setting a Hotkey.
The only other thing I believe is needed is to remove the “Deploy Glider” nag screen that pops up over your character while falling. It’s extremely immersion breaking and blocks the view of the character completely.
From my experience this past year with HoT, I’m so not wanting another expansion, like ever. Much rather have the Living Story return as that was far more interesting and engaging. I still can’t believe how poorly done the actual story was in HoT. Also, HoT divided the player base as those with a lot of time to play consumed HoT in over a week. Meanwhile, others were barely getting started with it. The Living Story on the other hand keeps the community in step with each other far better. It’s almost a quarter of a year since HoT launched and we have only received a rehashed Wintersday. That’s not going to sustain us very long. The fact that Colin mentioned it so quickly in his interview worries me.

Since this thread has covered multiple subjects, I might as well wade in too. First, I may literally Gibb smack a scalp off the next person that say’s WvW is about bags. That’s not a selling feature as it’s about the most inefficient way of earning income in game. Nor is WvW about fights, as if that were true, the population should never had dwindled. What held the mode at such a level was a combination of all of it and especially, PPT.
WvW in it’s current state is simply being run by Zombies. Players that cared about WvW PPT’d. When some players stopped caring, they simply left the game. When other players stopped caring, they turned into these emotionally undead things that wander around the maps looking for death. Either their own or another’s…
It’s no ones fault this has happened to WvW. Though this is the state of WvW and we should ask ourselves what we need to do to care again? Because WvW will never return to it’s glory until it’s replenished with players that have heart and give a bleeping bleep.
btw… stop using cancer builds and those cancer banners while in there. We all know the things that suck the life out of the mode. So stop choosing to cheese them as you are in fact slowly killing the mode off further.

Noticing “Leader of the Pack” isn’t applying in our Home Instances. The icon for the buff is present but, not applying swiftness. In testing it, running from point A to B took 13 seconds without swiftness and 10 seconds with swiftness. Thus the “Leader of the Pack” buff isn’t applying.

It is not possible to accomplish this without the use of a third-party program, the kind of program that is expressly forbidden by our User Agreement and our Rules of Conduct.
Because of these facts, the account termination will not be reversed.
Gaile, been thinking about this a bit while waiting in PvP Q’s. Maybe Anet should carefully review what’s motivating people to “break bad” if you will? Maybe the economic policies of late should be reviewed? Since HoT launched there’s been a lot of threads complaining of the grind, the feeling of hopelessness toward goals, and general lack of “good feeling” about the game. If this ban wave had such volume, I’m concerned what drove a player to choose such behavior.
Farming the home instance is the opposite of that. It’s mostly a single-player experience, it’s safe and it’s boring. Who farms the quartz in the queen skritt’s chamber every day? Many do, because it’s exciting and it’s social.
LOL sure yep, that is SO exciting. Also, not everything in the game should be social. We should have our own space. Just like in real life, you have you social time and you have your private time. With the home instance you can invite others to come in if you wish, which makes it social if we want it to be.
