Here, I’ll ask again; if you worked @ANet or were otherwise in charge; what would YOU do to “FIX” the MAIN WvW problem(s) (of: population balance AKA “server stacking”, and recruitment issues?
THAT, is what this thread is actually about, going forward… Thank you!
I’d crap myself over the drop of population. Afterwards, I’d try to figure out what I could do to increase my customer base, as any business should. The Desert map IS a huge issue. Luckily, it’s one that is easily controllable by the dev’s. The should have pushed the panic button and reverted before leaving from Christmas. So all those players who had time off could come back and possibly get back into the lifestyle of playing GW2 daily/weekly. Getting people back after 5 months isn’t easy.
Yes, I’m assuming the OP didn’t realize “Infused Light” inverts incoming damage to healing. Unless it was a Nomad’s built Rev running around for lulz, which is entirely possible.
The “I win” button needs to go! When you get Moa’d 4 times in a match, it’s getting to be too freak’n much. And, let’s not just put this on Mesmer’s as it’s directed at Engi’s too.
Actually a condition necro have 12 skills/sigil chance to inflict chill (with a top condi build). 16 if you use the focus, but is so bad that no one want to use it on spvp.
2 by shouts (utility+elite)
2 by staff (mark 3+5fear)
8 by RS combo 5+4+3fear
1 by traits
3 by sigils+runeAll that losing all your skills just to spam chill, losing all your skills just to spam 16 bleed.
If you want to inflict bleed is simply better to only AA, you will also inflict poison and convert boons, dealing more damage in lesser time than spend all your time to try to deal damage with chill. And after you spam that 16 stack of bleed (that don’t even stack all at the same time why you need more than 8 seconds to inflict them all to the enemy), you have all your skills in CD and you will deal no more damage by chill, losing your old chill dps for a long time.
In PvE it can be a good thing why bleed stack and there’s foods to make it last longer and make you able to inflict more damage.
Against a training dummy you can still inflict a barely good damage, but against a player that dodge, block, move, evade, cc you, that’s a really Huge Nerf.
Let’s NOT forget GS 5!!!!!! It’s get a whole 1 stack of bleeds now as a bonus!
gfg
Just played a few PvP matches again, you’re telling me this is bad?
Get Gud….
Ok ok, this was Stronghold so there’s some HP pools that are far meatier for me to achieve such high numbers. Output wise this may have been my best performances in S2 on my Necro. I do not believe this is possible now with the chill nerfing.
This nerfing was required more to go back to the original definition of what chill is, a control condition, than a damaging condition. Though I liked the concept of Chill on a Reaper doing damage. I liked this far more than the theme of Terror doing damage. I’m affraid so I’m hurt??? Cold, not that can freaking hurt you!
- revamped Desert – all players happy
More and more players like the new mechanics on the reworked Desert borderlands, no new players on the forum wish to delete it or permanently remove it
No, this player with 100% assurance, wants the desert theme utterly and completely removed from WvW. As I’ve stated many times, a desert theme is not conducive to long term player retention. Even if they create map rotation, they’ll be participation drops every time the desert map is introduced. It’s simply a bad theme overall.

wait wait wait…. isn’t the OP the one that likes to “defend” (troll) in EotM? So basically that’s not so easy is it?
The Dev’s have to look at current population levels before they “link” anyone. Way too many transfer’s the past two weeks.
Just going to +1 and add my “GJ!” to the dev’s.
The very basic design theme of a Desert makes them uninviting. Life flocks to and flourishes in the blue and green zones of a planet. If Anet wants WvW to flourish, it needs to use themes that support it.
And yes, they should make all vendor panels sizable like our inventory panels are.
In the options panel, go down to graphics options, then select “small” for the interface size. With the game in full screen you should be able to purchase and verify without moving the mouse. Which then leaves you to using easier methods of clicking.
We saw a lot of spawn camping when YB made their T1 push and we’re seeing more now TC (both from TC and the Rebellion) are making the same push.
That’s because it’s the same players/guilds doing it again. They are a minority group of poor sports.
So I hear they’re bringing back the old A-BL’s? Well then, now it’s MY turn to Q.Q
Your post history say’s you’ve QQ enough on the topic.
In T1, spawn camping is frowned upon as unsportsmanlike. It is used sparingly and mostly in a retaliatory fashion as a Gibb smack for something an enemy did prior. If it’s used for giggles, it’s done briefly. At least that’s how JQ and BG have run it the past couple of years. The new kid YB, still hasn’t matured to that level of conduct yet.
I find your lack of faith disturbing.
You really should be used to it by now…….
It’s absolutely laughable anyone thinks there’s “prestige” in a video game.
wait wait wait.. chest thumps about spawn camping while Venom Bannering???
#commoding
Now I log in, look at the 50-100 man queues in NA every night, and just log out.
Any disgruntled players in T2 are welcome to join us in T1 on JQ.
The Alpine map, just being of the Alpine theme, will bring much more enjoyment to being in WvW than the Desert map. Let’s just hope they do not destroy the enjoyment and aesthetic appeal by adding things like barricades.
Anet is aware and was given documentation of all spawn siege spots to fix last year. It should be taken care of.
Upgrading should be returned to player control. Upgrading had tactics behind it and needs to be returned to the builders, scouts, and escorts who enjoyed it.
so doing a bit of roaming this morining, the usal stuff…hunting people for fights flipping camp’s sentrys.
i came to this camp on green borderland and only had 2 kill 2 guards and the lord and the rest of the npc’s were out of the circle for easy cap
is this normal or just bad spawn of mobs ?
Flipping a camp became more difficult with HoT. I heard it many times over that people couldn’t solo a camp. If you are smart and careful with positioning though, you can aggro specific guards and the supervisor individually. Even to the point of not needing to kill all of them.
It would be easy enough to move all the camp guards closer to the center, so you’d always have to fight all of them to flip a camp. But to be clear, you guys are arguing that you want to do ‘more PvE’, which seems to go against the forum’s current agenda of ‘less PvE.’
This form of PvE, camp Guards, is actually ok Tyler. I believe we can easily help find a good balance of PvE in WvW. The amount of blinds, stuns, and immob from the camp guards may be a bit too high.
This is going a bit off topic but, with HoT Anet pushed and promoted CC’s. Yet, not realizing CC’s kill the fluid motion of PvP combat. It reduces the fun of combat overall and it’s one of the larger issues of WvW right now. Combat simply isn’t as fun as it used to be.
That doesn’t address stacking at all.
It addresses population imbalance to a point. Map caps are still the ultimate balancing mechanism in a match.
None of you make any sense. All he’s said is “population beta”. There’s nothing to beta test when you talk about a server merge because it is just a one-and-done moving of accounts around in a database, a technology they already have. Please think more clearly next time.
Because as I see it, it’s a Server Pairing. As in, it’s the Alliance of two Worlds in a WvW match. Basically, instead of WvWvW it’ll be W²vW²vW² or W²x3
There wouldn’t be any transferring of actual accounts taking place. This way it preserves each Worlds community. Also, it allows for match variety each week as the pairing will change based on performance and population.
At least that’s my hope for a more intelligent system. If it were a one and done merging, that would be…. well… an uninspired outcome.
DR is an extension of the TC stacking.
I would love to know where people get all their garbage info from.
Here, you should try reading, it can be quite informative…..
“Anet-TylerB 121 points 3 days ago
If I were you, I’d wait to see what we are doing with the population beta before transferring servers. Feel free to do what’s in your heart though
”
There is not any point to that honestly, the devs already have all the statistics
See, this is the problem as it’s past tense. Any statistics they “already have” are now highly inaccurate for Tier 1 and Tier 2. Any subsequent actions base upon old data will be flawed. Hence why locking transfer’s and recalculating are in order.
funny FA got to T2 with stacking and was talking about moving to T1 now they are complaining about other server stacking lol
Recruiting and filling coverage holes is normal World maintenance. What’s happening this week with stacking is nothing less than trying to exploit the upcoming changes. There’s a big difference there.
With the massive server stacking this week, I’m hoping the Dev’s are smart enough to take WvW offline before making any changes. That includes locking World transfer’s and getting accurate population estimates before making any population changes.
Anyone else thinking the 19th is going to be botched if preventative measures aren’t taken?
I would say: Integrate WvW and EotM
But now the big question is: how is this best done?
Clearly both have their advantages and disadvantages!
How can we get the best of both, and even more difficult: What is the best of both?
For EotM, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” certainly applies. Even if one were to wish EotM to evolve, merging it with a broken product (wvw) is most illogical. Sorry for those few of you that just have hate as your argument, it’s just not sound.
FA is the place to be if you don’t like server stacking. From FA you can siege hump, pin snipe, and generally ruin the day of those guilds that stacked DB and TC.
from FA…. I Rebel
wall of complaining
So the person that comes on here constantly praising Evon as the Hero and boosting of a free market, actually wants Anet to play Lord Mom and stop open competition? I can’t help but think of something something just desserts something.
I was talking about it in an in game context, in an MMO also known as the genre for bragging rights, prestige and generally trying to outdo other players. /s
Never played a single video game for that. I’d bet most play an MMO for entertaining content and social interactions. I’d also bet most play with each other for mutually beneficial reasons. That we’d, by our nature, work together to achieve our goals. Not work against each other and not try to deny each other. We wouldn’t berate the game developers and selfishly ask for content to be made just for ourselves. Nor, even have such an attitude of being better than anyone else.
100% of the games content should be available from multiple avenues. Those avenues should include the Trading Post. Because if someone is “good”, their skills should be able to earn them more than one single item. That’s where trading items has further value.
“100% of the games content should be available from multiple avenues.”
Pay2Win detected.
It’s a freaking skin, how is that P2W? If I could buy a weapon with 1500 strength then that’s P2W. We’re talking about skins and cosmetics.
For the continued conversation of rewards, why shouldn’t a skilled player be able to earn income beyond a simple skin? Being able to sell a run IS rewarding a players skill! Having the capacity to sell multiple copies of a difficult to acquire item IS rewarding a players skill.

I have to ask, how did you level all those Elites?
I have 19 characters and want to buy more, not 69 but 35-40 sounds like a good fix but I’m having issues levelling Elites for WvW to be able to progress with my toonaholic addiction…
I don’t really PvE but maybe there’s a trick somehow so it doesn’t feel so grindy? I’ve only unlocked 4/19 Elites since HoT
Proof of Heroics is going account bound, so we’ll have that soon as WvW players. For myself, it takes about 4 hours to get all the HP’s for a Specialization now. HP farming is easy and asking for help works.
Horrid suggestions, just horrid. EotM has become a mode unto itself and should stay as it is. If a player chose EotM over WvW, it was for a reason. If you think you can “force” them to play on a BL, then that’s hilariously illogical.
If your only suggestions in a video game are along the lines of “take from them so I feel better”, then you really should examine why.
This behavior has to be one of the least efficient ways to earn income in the game. And, when I say least, I mean it’s probably dead last. The only way to earn less is to either be parked in LA or to be a scout in WvW.
894 Rivets… 895 Rivets…. 896 Rivets…. Zzzzzz…. Wah wut???….. 897 Rivets….
I truly wish players would understand and see there’s many ways to play a game. Better to mind our own business more and enjoy what we’re doing, than worry about what others are doing. With that said, I’m totally guilty of dropping an aggro’d Mob Bomb on the utterly overt afk’ers in SW
Though farming “Slayer” achievements in a low level zone, knock yourselves out buddy.
I see this as a good thing where players are helping players achieve. Where players are using their skills and abilities together and compensating each other. In the end, both parties are happy and successful. Much like how our entire civilization functions in real life.
What I see as a bad thing, is the elitist “buut… it’s my shiny” people trying to deny this from occurring. And, this is not just with SAB but, every time new content comes out. It’s utterly selfish behavior and should not be promoted in game as it is not in real life.
Thank you for clarifying Chris. Glad Anet see’s the common sense in allowing this.
suggest that it is possible to drop back down to diamond division from legendary
This is a win/win situation.
Win win for who??? You are basically trying to pollute and ruin Diamond. How is that a win/win? Besides, this situation of players not giving 100% happens in Diamond and Ruby too. Not everyone cares about hitting Legend, they are just doing the requirements for the back piece.
Anet needs to remove the requirements that promote players to just “be there” in a match. The biggest culprit of course is the daily requirement. That needs to go “bye bye” badly. It’s cancerous to the league.
OH HELL NO! That’s all I need is a troll going “DING..DING..DING..DING..DING” all match long. Just, no…..
Thank you, I’m going to look into this further. I know a lot of folks play music while playing but, I like listening to the games soundtrack. It’s usually not too bad since there’s so much else going on sound wise. Either that or when I’m in TS with others. But, I’ve been running SAB this week and I turned the games music off since, well, it was getting annoying after a while. Then the Rev’s AA sound really hit me.
Dev’s, how about removing or lowering the volume on the sound file used for Rev’s AA’s, please? I can get the whole “Woosh” sound when a Rev’s dodge rolls and stuff, its fine. Just the AA sound and how frequently its proc’ing while in combat that causes the issue.
I love my Revenant’s. Though one thing drives me crazy about them, not in a good way, and it’s the airy sound effect from their Auto Attack. It’s really act’s as a trigger for me but, that’s not relevant. Simply, does anyone know a way of changing or stopping it from playing?
I really wish these sound effects were user customizable.
Long text
Even you, who try to defend EotM can not provide any reason for it to exist. Yes, there was once many players waiting in queues. There is none now. Yes it was suppose to be testing ground. That never happened.
And when they roll out the big WvW update and it goes to Alliances, you’ll then know what’s been tested.
at this stage
So when these Legendary players keep rolling alt’s through the system, guess who’s stuck playing against them? Everyone… again and again… So there’s is no “at this stage” conversation.
EotM has surpassed WvW, real or not. It’s a solid game mode that keeps players engaged and playing. Which, I might add requires no additional development to run. So, the last time I checked that’s exactly what a game developer dreams of creating. A self sustaining game mode that requires little input and minimal overhead.
EotM stays as is.
+1 great idea!!
It will take ages to get enough bubble to buy what we need/want.
At this moment, I’m waiting to log in and hoping my hording issues were intact during SAB
SAB is back. It’s Super Adventure Festival time! Check your in-game mail and head to Rata Sum to take part!
Enjoy.
GJ Anet! I’m more shocked that you’ve all kept it under wraps and top secret. Totally blind sided the community in an awesome way.
GJ and TY too
Though the I’m honestly thrilled to get Alpine back. I very much dislike the Desert map, theme and all.
I still have 8,754,233,450,111³ of Flax and Elder wood to gather for +5.
See you in 2023!
<grumble.. grumble.. dev’s… grumble>
One of the appeals not listed is that Alpine is visually cleaner and more attractive. The structures are not decrepit and broken. They are something you’d actually want to own and defend. Heck, if the Desert map was glaciers in the north, green pastures and grass on the south, and some water in mid, it would have been far better received. Though it would still have the same layout issues and contrived traffic patterns annoyingly designed to slow you down.
Jr. you need to take a breath in between posting. Alpine was/is a superior design which allowed for faster pacing, more active combat, and more map politics.
