Now we’re getting off topic but, I’ll answer you with another “No”. Since we’ve disagreed on here about the topic for a while now. We should have stacked and created balanced coverage, as some worlds did. There should be static tiers based around differing play styles and player derived rules of engagement. The issue arose when the dev’s did not consolidate the tiers when overall population diminished to a state of being too low to play. If not consolidated, as I posted on here almost 3 years ago, they should have created an alliance system. A system where Worlds, Guilds, and individuals could join together into. I asked for maps with themes and where winning a match was a part of an overall shared quest. That will be 3 years ago come June
Again, off topic about the question of balance on the pairings this week.

This is an “either or” proposition. If you do not empower the players, then the responsibility and effort falls upon the devs. That’s why I gave them a low rating at this time.
Can we also add the fact that we’ve occupied this area for over 5 months already. You’d think any military force would have construction crews fortifying and repairing our forward bases of operation.
Good post and good examples given. Creating player conflict and obstruction is a part of game design. I usually just label it “trolling” though it’s not intended to be malicious. No, Kuru is correct that this pairing wasn’t balanced well. I already posted a thread called “This is balance????” yesterday as it was easy to see how the matches were trending on NA.
OP, if the Commander is so valuable and respected, the players on map should roll the Q to get him or her back on map. By Roll I mean to log out of WvW and re-queue.
Any discussion of BGET should be how utterly overstuffed the Dev’s made them. Three maps queues in late PST on a Sunday night / Monday morning are obscene numbers.
For world linking and activity data, remember there’s 50% less things to flip now in NA. That and population density has been doubled. Only Anet would know if actually more players entered WvW this week and the duration they played.
The top EU servers have been fairly balanced and they change tiers constantly, thats the proof you want. Not that stale NA locked system.
Tier volatility does not inherently mean fun or interesting. I look at the recent matches in EU and many end up as blow outs. I look at score evolutions and incomes and see coverage gaps which most likely leads to players not having fun in those time zones. World building and match management is about creating balanced coverage and populations. Any extremes will leave players unhappy with the mode.

I’d just like to point out that just because it feels like it’s alive and filled with new players doesn’t mean it is. We’ve simply been stuffed into half the available space, thus doubling population density.
The idea to lock overpopulated servers is to get people spread out more evenly and make matches more fun.
There is no cause and effect that forcing players to spread out will equal more fun matches. Balanced Tiers is far more important than trying to equalize world populations.
ABL would have been WAAAAYYYY to small for this beta test. DBL were all queued as well and showing why they were mad to be this size.

Dude do you even play WvW? There are Q’s now all over the place because PVE people want to “farm” te WvW reward track. This is why there is a Q everywhere, and its going to be worst in the future. First eotm. Then the other failed borderlands that no one likes. Call it eotm2. No EB turned into eotm3 with all these low lvl scrubs I see. Are you blind? How can you be happy about this, Wtf!?
I’m from JQ as well and we do not have many on today. If you look at my thread titled “Paired Q’s” you’ll see as I’ve been documenting the Q’s on T1 NA. My biggest complaint is the Dev’s leaking information to privileged players. It’s unethical and should never have happened. Then the Dev’s either being incompetent or malicious in there “balancing” of populations. T1 populations are utterly lopsided and I have no doubts the other tiers are probably too.
For all the “good” the Dev’s did this week, this pairing should not have occurred this way. Certainly not to lock the server’s afterwards and have us now wait months, if not longer, before adjusting this.

BG guilds are mostly avoiding EBG at the moment.. but it seems like returning players, new players, and duelers mostly want to play on ebg, so its pushing ebg into a map queue, which is kinda rough on some of our friends on ET who prefer not playing on the borderlands for obvious reasons..
If Anet cared about balance, BG should never been paired with ET to begin with. Right now EB has a 41 man Q.
It’s not the players job to regulate and control the populations. That’s Anet’s job. Population has been an issue for a long, long time. It was Anet’s job to fix it. To stop transfers, to force transfers, to shutdown servers, to merge servers. Whatever.
It’s a bleep’n competitive game mode!!! It’s not up to the Dev’s to make teams and sort players. The heck with that crud right there!!! We’re not Anet’s puppet and let’s see them try a stunt like this with sPvP. Sure, let’s see Anet say to ESL player from team A, now has to be on team B. Team C you now have to play with 4. Team D, our favorite, you get to play with 6. The answer to that kind of unethical bunk in a competitive game mode is to say “The heck with it”.

Jayne you are utterly wrong on the subject. Tiers had play styles and not everyone wants to play WvW the same. Especially not the same as you see it. Players were in the lower tiers by choice. Players were in the upper tiers by choice. This change by Anet is removing the choice and forcing everyone to play one way. Which is not only boring, it’s annoying.
That is beyond the fact that we cannot “pair” two worlds easily. Getting everyone in voice comm’s is a disaster. The capacity to communicate between the Worlds is not even present in game, nor these forums. It’s a mess to say the least. Which doesn’t equal exciting or fun.

Literally every borderland was queued last night. You’re not making a whole lot of sense, here.
Of course, that’s people simply trying to play, anywhere they can. EB is without question the first to queue. Thus making the desert bl not the first choice of players, it makes it the “if I have to” choice.
I agree with the OP, Alpine should be the top priority of the Dev’s. They should not have spend a minute on modifying the Desert map. Instead that time should have been put toward getting Alpine ready sooner.

BG Q’d OS even!!!!! You had all 5 maps Q’d! Which hasn’t happened since I believe the first night of S1 or was it S2. I just recall fighting with Josh and Roy (devs) in the OS lobby. It was insane.
In the time you have off from the game because playing alongside your comrades under a different server name for a TEMPORARY period, you could try “outside”. Rank 7600, like wut.

I can’t help but think that 4 matches was too little for NA servers. It should have been reduced to 5 or 6.
Additionally, I was surprised to see IoJ and JQ paired up if these pairings were truly done with time-sliced activity levels considered.
Or better, that the Dev’s didn’t account for “current” populations. After the leak, 8 or so Guilds left JQ and the population dropped heavily. The Dev’s didn’t account for it at all.
They couldn’t do this because of having two data centers. Though a more optimal pairing is between NA and EU. The failure of pairing NA to NA, EU to EU is that is doubles up on prime time and does nothing for off hours coverage.
I’m also against the Dev’s playing King Maker. Also still irked that the “leak” was real and no one has put Anet’s feet to the fire on this. That’s a serious ethic issue right there.

What I have a problem with is coverage and balance. We’re all screwed as the Dev’s locked us at full. We’re literally stuck with whatever the dev’s gave us. Coming from a world that worked hard, for years, to keep balanced coverage this is … annoying to say the least.

I do not feel bored at all. I’m also someone whom doesn’t appreciate being nagged by button presses. Some professions are just too button happy for me. So Rev is a good fit for my taste.
I also rarely ever run around with Facet of Nature up. I pop it for burst and keep going. You can have a Herald for Facet of Nature and still run two other Legends. So it’s not really an issue.

Some of us also just plain don’t like the massive fights and prefer the lower population servers for more focussed and impactful world versus world gameplay. This is gone now.
I always said, the Tiers shouldn’t be equalized or have Worlds rotating often. Having Tiers with differing themes and play styles, gives the greatest possible player satisfaction overall.
We used factors like the world’s current rank and population numbers to define pairings.
Linked worlds will have lower population caps for the purposes of server transfers.
Let’s ask the obvious question of how current? Another question is going to be, after being linked, how locked are our Worlds going to be? Because overall population does not make a winning team. You need to have a balanced population across the day to be successful in WvW. So how locked down are we going to be after this linking?
The worst case scenario is that this linking ends up being exactly as the leaked info was. And then, we’re all locked out from changing anything for months. The tables will flip themselves if this is the outcome.
So basically, no WvW tonight for every Rev in game…

I… I just….. do you…. are we playing the same game???? Players couldn’t care less about Doylaks. It’s an “Oh look kill it!” as they run past at best. Escorting and getting players to escort is like pulling teeth. I literally had to start paying gold to get players to do jobs like this and bloodlust.
As I posted on the link, there’s either a flawed DPS report or a flawed combat log. Either way, the DPS report came up with 4,500 DPS on my Rev’s AA. That’s full out as I would be hitting someone in WvW. Not preloading every boon and 25 stacks of vulnerabilty.
That is of course, if someone would kindly turn around and stand still for me
