I’m glad so many of you are finding success with this build!

I’m currently playing some tPvP with it in case any other entrepreneurial spirit is interested! twitch.tv/defektive

As for Weapon X:

The calc is wrong. You should sit at 3200 or right on it in-game. and with Might stacks going +bloodlust up you’ll easily hit 3800.

Yes, we’re already thinking ahead to esport commentating. It’s much easier for new players to see the blue/red teams.

Think about any sport you’ve ever watched. Imagine that each player could wear whatever they wanted to look bad kitten It’d be much harder to tell who’s on which team.

So for us, the blue/red essentially equates to team jerseys.

Etc.

Not to take a page out of WoW’s book but.. Why not an indicator with a color, while the gear remains the same. Such as a circle under the player denoting the team they are on?

Hello.

It has come to my attention that there are a few holes in the PvP amulets amulet.

This is a startling problem due to the stats Amulets provide. The absence of stats stop can stop an individual from trying out builds due to not meeting certain stat criteria.

Below are two examples of Amulets that if possible, I would love to see added.

1)
798 Power
569 Precision
569 Toughness

2)
798 Toughness
569 Power
569 Precision

There is only one Rune right now that provides Toughness as the primary stat:

Shaman:
125 Toughness
75 Condition
75 Healing

If possible, I would like to see an associated Rune for the above mentioned Amulets.
125 Power
75 Precision
75 Toughness

125 Toughness
75 Precision
75 Power.

Thank you for your time.

The trait build took me some time to iron out. I kept switching it up trying to coax more damage out while still being tanky enough to hold off 2-3 ppl at a time. However it quickly became obvious that without a suitable gap closer I was constantly stuck taking alot of dmg. So tankyness was a neccessity. If you look hard at the traits though you will notice there are a number of + dmg modifiers in an attempt to make up on potential damage lost.

If Evis burst is what you’re referring to as on-demand burst. Many builds including bunkerish builds still provide that level of burst. You don’t need to push yourself into a squishy area in order to achieve the same results.

Strength of the warrior isn’t being tanky. It’s being able to instantly kill most targets at 50% HP and being able to lock down players with mace/shield.

I think this applies more to a range of professions that have on-demand burst and not just a Warrior hence why I don’t include it in my thoughts as to what the Warrior Profession really should be focused around.

Any class with Knockbacks / Stuns and Quickness can easily pull off the same Scenerio Examples of other classes with these abilities:
Rangers
Thiefs
Engineers

Hello.

I would like to open a conversation regarding advanced gameplay skills.

For my contribution I would like to bring up ‘Juking’.

Term: Juking
Definition: To trick/deceive an enemy into using specific skills/abilities at an incorrect time.

How to ‘Juke’:

Many important attacks (such as CC’s) have cast times / animations that an enemy can see coming. That enemy then will use an ability such as Stability or a Dodge roll in order to mitigate the incoming attack.

By binding your Sheath Weapon to an easy to find button you can do the following:
Begin you casted attack, half way through your attack click your Sheath Weapon button. The attack is canceled and you’re given a 3 second CD on the attack (instead of its 20+ sec CD).

Hopefully, the enemy will attempt to dodge or use an important skill in order to mitigate your attack. In doing so they use up their skill, and you can recast it a mere 2-3 seconds later for full effect.

Examples of skills that could benefit from Juking:
Warrior – Hammer #2 #4 #5 – all casted with long cd’s (10-20sec cd).
Mesmer – Moa

What other useful ADVANCED techniques are out there?

Cont.

Staying Alive:
With this build you have so much CC that staying alive shouldn’t be an issue if you’re properly mitigating enemy attacks.
Also, Shouts heal which is a nice cushion but don’t bet on it to save your life (even though it has for me a few times).
Remember to only use your healing surge ability with Full adren + when no Poison conditions are up.
If poison is up: Shake it Off should clear it. You can cast shake it off mid-Healing Surge cast.

This is an extremely fun and REWARDING build.
You’re a tank, you’re annoying to deal with (cc’s), but once you’re up and running it becomes an ‘Avalanche’ of pain.

With so many CC’s you can easily Res your allies and stop enemies from stomping.

Imagine starting the game with standard Power doing ok damage. But as the game progresses you start dealing 1200-1500 hits while maintaining a ton of CC, with a ton of health.

Thank you!

This build is my personal tPvP build. It brings lots of survivability with lots of control yet being able to still throw a strong punch in any fight. I like to think of it like this:
It’s an avalanche of a build that starts off slow but builds momentum as the game progresses.

Stats:
3200 – 3800 Attack (Go over 3800 with buffs from teammates and using combo fields)
29,600 HP
2010 Toughness
4% Crit

This is my Warrior. He’s very handsome.

-20/0/30/20/0

Healing:
‘Healing Surge’ – Lots of HP, gains Adren, which is important in this build since Adren can give you up to an additional 12% more damage as well as its importance to CC.

Utilities:
‘For Great Justice!’
‘Shake It Off!"
’Fear Me!’

Elite:
‘Signet of Rage’

Gameplay:
Your Goal:
Lock down enemies to assist your allies in defeating them. This is especially important so that you can locate and eliminate enemy Burst players with team work. The goal isn’t to try to stop their whole team with CC, but to single out 1-2 specific players who you want to control.

With this build you have 5 CC’s.
3 From hammer (F1, #4, #5)
1 From Utilities (‘Fear Me!’)
1 From Mace (#5)

The main point of the build is to be constantly rotating in and out of Hammer / Axe-Mace every 10 seconds. The reason being is you can use ALL of your Hammer CC in a 10 second time frame, swap to Axe-Mace to keep applying damage and have an additional 2 CC’s while in that weapon set.

Building Power:
-‘Why do you have TWO Runes of Bloodlust?" – Well I found that while I’m constantly rotating between weapons, I may miss out on kills that could add to the Bloodlust buff. This buff is extremely important to increasing your overall DPS so one of your primary goals is to quickly hit 25 stacks (be in range of 5 enemy kills). Not having to worry about which weapon set your in lets you focus on singling out and controlling enemies.

-With 30 Points in Tactics Boons last 30% Longer. When you weapon swap to Axe/Mace you gain 3 stacks of Might for 26 Seconds. By constantly swapping in and out you should be able to maintain 6 stacks of might (sometimes 9). Once you add in your signet of Rage AND For Great Justice boons (remember boon times are 30% longer now!) you can easily hit an additional 500-600 power.

-Boons give you more power. With the Empowered Trait the longer you have your boons up the more damage your doing. Keep those boons up!

Burst:
Axe Eviscerate burst can deal between 5-6k Dmg. This isn’t a burst build but it has some legs if needed in a pinch.

Kiting:
This build has two slows, one from Hammer. Another from the Axe. However you only want to kite an enemy so you can stay on them, not so you can stay away from them.

Using Utilities:
I constantly keep FGJ + Rage up adding in 9 stacks of might + Speed + 20% Crit.

In terms of Shake it Off! I use it to get out of slows and break stuns (beauty of a 20 sec CD).

We are really strong in tourneys if played right with GS/Axe/shield.
We are not the best solo roamer as we are weak against some classes, however in my oppinion we are A+ when paired with someone else or in a zerg to take a vital point.

Any warrior will land a couple of full frenzied 100blades in any given game which will practically guarante an instant kill. Outside of 100b we have eviscerate burt from axes and stun from shield. Our survivability is pretty decent also with liberal use of whirlwind, shieldblock and dodges. Most warrior run 30 in defense so we are fairly durable and great at delivering killing blows and ressing.

It’s a myth we lack damage outside of 100b. Our GS autoattacks, whirlwind and Axe autoattacks does a LOT of damage. And with rune of intelligence on the axe we can deliver 100% crit eviscerates that hit for up to 8k.

Warriors also serve the purpose of “zerg dispersion” since nobody wants to be inside of 100blades range. Also, never open with bullrush until you know that your opponent has burned a stunbreak or teleport.

GS warrior is a good class in tournament games.

GS Warriors have their place in the game… somewhere… Personally I rarely see them anymore on the decent tPvP teams. I don’t know if that’s because Warriors are going out of fashion (I don’t see many of them anymore in general in tPvP) or if people don’t see the value of GS burst.

In regards to my CC build, I’ll do a little write up and post it, considering how often I get that same question I may as well bite the bullet.

I think the ‘Capt. Hammer’ build is a step in the right direction. However I don’t agree with a number of the trait choices because they pigeon hole the player in one area.

I especially don’t agree with that builds belief to take more stats in +Healing when in reality the stats gained from that are minimal.

Overall though, its a step forward from Rifle builds and the like.

Using your word choice, I consider the Warrior ‘wildly annoying’ but at the same time, a power house to the point that if you grab a Warriors attention now you’re going to be CC’d and taking considerable damage. Just being annoying doesn’t seal the deal, it just means your annoying.

My Support/Pressure build stats borderline Tank+DPS. Think Feral druid.

Well for Thief’s going stealth, they are still right next to you. Generally you have about 3 seconds after a Thief goes stealth before he opens on you again.

I like to time a knockback or AOE Stun for that 3 second mark and it Usually results them coming out of stealth and being disabled.

You can also swing at thin air and it may look like you aren’t hitting anything, but you’re more than likely hitting them. Don’t know how many thieves I’ve killed just flailing around.

you dont get it obviously. quickness is not a problem on the warrior, engineer or mesmer. you see them coming and their big hit abilities can be dodged.

it is broken in spvp on thiefs, thiefs that can stealth outside of your vision, walk up to you and blink into range. my current build has almost 1,9k thoughness and over 20k hp. I am defending a point. thiefs attacks me out of stealth opens with backstabs and follows with spamming any other ability he has. I am dead before I can even react or press a button because in the first splint second he puts out over 20k worth of dps due to the backstab and quickness which allows him to quickly follow up with alot of abilities. if the thief player is not kitten then he will win any 1vs1 in a second when his quickness is up and the cooldown is not exactly huge. to make it even worse, coming out of stealth starts with the stealth reappear animation and it just takes too long which makes the thief not visible for a splint of a second. the thief should appear instantly and sometimes the player model does not load at all because of the bug that exists since the beginning of the beta…

I rolled a thief 2 weeks ago and it is amazing how easy it is to put out such huge damage numbers. sorry but if you are unable to kill the target with quickness fast enough before they can react then it is not the l2p issues of others but yours. quickness on the thief is broken and I abuse it everyday.

IMO. Games like this need that speckle of ‘Impending death is near’ otherwise people wouldn’t use a variety of builds or actively try to learn to dodge / interpret boons and conditions.

Quickness has its place. However, I think it would be fair to apply the 50% damage taken condition AFTER the 50% increase in damage buff has occurred. Lets be realistic you don’t want to try attacking a Warrior when they are burning through a Quickness attack. But you’d love to afterwards!

I roll around as a support/cc hammer myself. Can bunker in pretty easily with this if needed, and put on alot of pressure if your attacking with your team.

Damage is complete kitten though, i can’t solo kill most classes, but i can basically stall out indefinitely 1on1 and survive even 3on1 for a really long time. I really wish hammer didn’t self root you so much though…

A common mistake in my opinion is going to heavy in one stat. Going WAY to defensive results in your issue. But going way to heavy in damage results in a kill, maybe two, and then you’re useless until you respawn and run back to the fight.

I try hitting a nice middle ground and can almost always win a 1v1 against every class and often I can win 1v2’s.

warrior is good as it is atm

I agree with this.

I see a lot of players keep trying to play a Warrior as some bursty profession and they aren’t doing so well in tPvP. Generally when I’m playing any of the number of builds that I’ve posted on this forum, burst Warriors become one of my easiest targets.

If I see a GS Warrior whose built slightly tanky, lets say 1500 Toughness 22-24k HP. I still call it to burn him down real quick. and I mean in a matter of 2-3 seconds. It’s an easy free kill for points.

I honestly think that if more Warriors played to our strengths then we wouldn’t be ranked so often as the worst or near to the worst class for sPvP.

Being that the only thing that really needs help is probably Longbow.

Well that depends on how you played and what build you played.
I rest my case that Warrior roamer has nothing to envy to Thief or Ranger, if well played.

How do you rest your case? All you said is that we have roaming capabilities, which I’m not denying. I’m simply stating that Ranger/Thief has BETTER Roaming and on demand burst than a Warrior. So don’t try to put us into the same pot as them.

I did the roamer thing for my tPvP teams for a long while before I settled on Hammer. While yes I could roam, a thief does it better. What a Thief or Ranger really can’t do, is CC and play pressure.

While we have the ability to do other things, we don’t do them nearly as effective as some classes. What I’m merely trying to surmise is we may as well play to our strengths rather than try to be something other professions are more suited for.

I’m at work so I’m going to keep this initial post short.

It has come to my attention that people categorize the warrior as either 1 of 3 things.

1) DPS Roamer – although not quite as good as say Ranger or Thief.

2) Bunker DPS Defender – although not quite as good as Guardian / Engy and sometimes even Necro.

3) Support / Burst – although not quite as good as Mesmer / Engy / Thief.

Yet in my opinion there’s a fundamental area in which Warriors excel at that not a lot of people seem to either grasp nor want to admit.

The way I perceive and play my Warrior are along these lines:

I do above average damage, with above average survivability. I don’t bring many buffs to the team (or heals) as people would like. But what I can bring are abilities that support a teams objective of taking a point, and setting up enemies for failure.

The sheer amount of stuns and other abilities such as knockbacks, immobilizers, and Fear add a level of elegance to the class that can only be taken advantage of by those who can identify when to apply pressure.

Warriors place the enemy team in a high pressure situation. When half your team is stunned or feared that means your half as effective. When it’s difficult to blatantly burn down the Warrior that’s causing these problems is where the true strengths of a the profession shine.

People are going to chop this up to “does this mean you’re saying the Hammer is a required Warrior weapon?” No, it’s not. The Shield have a consistent stun as do Maces. Bulls charge also has the ability to easy switch targets and apply pressure to that individual. Stomp is effective, yet rarely used due to it’s CD and cast time. Bolas is extremely effective against Thieves who are out of position.

Because of these reasons I truly believe that Warriors add an element of necessity when it comes to applying pressure in a stalemate battle. To consider them a set Roamer or Bunker is against the fundamental goals of the class. They are in my opinion in the Category: Support/Pressure.

Just make the flag a shinier version of a warrior’s banner and lockout all skills / utilities. Now a person can drop the flag / pick up the flag at will but when they want to move it, they aren’t allowed anything special.

Full ranged Warrior, viable?

sPvP? PvE? WvW?

Relatively viable for WvW.

Viable for PvE but you won’t be doing that great of damage or support for your allies.

Not viable what so ever in sPvP / tPvP (more so tPvP)

No you miss-read what I wrote. Each HB attack # you see, is just an additive of the one before it.

So
Attack 1: 1000 Dmg
Attack 2: 1000 Dmg

But you’d see it as
Attack 1: 1000 Dmg
Attack 2: 2000 Dmg.

It’s just adding the attacks from before. Not many characters can have 25k hp so if the LAST attack is hitting for 25k, that means your HB should gib every profession in the game instantly.

“I really don’t know what other classes hits for, but the end of hundred blades was a 25k crit at best.”

Actually, all that means is that the full HB hit for 25k, not the last one hit for 25k.

I’m going to go ahead and say people read up on how to defeat that gimmick.

Just a thought though.

Ding Rank 19. Game thinks I'm 20... ish?

in PvP

So I dinged rank 19 and I got two chests…. one of the Deer one of the Dolyak.

THEN, to get to rank 20 it now costs me 7500 Glory instead of 4000 (Deer).

So it seems like the game is considering me as Rank 20. But the Rank 20 vendor isn’t accessible.

Considering you said this in another thread:
“signets are good, stop crying already. A good warrior can make it work with signets ,a bad one will suck even with balanced stance.” -incisorr.9502

I’ll take your word with a grain of salt.

To each their own. I don’t take the cripple duration because it will only increase the cripple length from say 9 seconds to 9.8 seconds etc.

.8 seconds doesn’t (at least in my book) outdo the benefits of 5% more static damage across the board.

But if you like longer cripples then by all means!

TLDR: ANet wants to raise the limit on the number of guilds a person can represent.

Dear Arena Net:

I BEG you to reconsider. Take into factor this:

Being in multiple guilds waters down the experience of being apart of one defined group. Suddenly being in a guild is as ubiquitous as grouping with pugs, except now these pug groups have their own in-game panel.

Please limit it to TWO guilds per character (not account). This was a character can represent a guild in say
A) PvP
OR
B) PvE

Personally I’m already having problems recruiting for our GW2 division because those who do join, spend half their time transferring servers to play with someone they just met for a day. Or joining ANOTHER guild and not representing us or playing with us. ETC.

Thank you for your time.

Personally, I agree that being able to represent multiple guilds kinda takes away the feeling of being APART of a guild. Because suddenly that doesn’t matter so much anymore….
