Asura for PvP.
Hard to see animations = more difficult for enemies to dodge attacks.
Guardian area stability + ability to deny a point long enough for reinforcements + never ending protection make them simply bonkers.
Add in the block bug and it’ll drive any DPS up the wall.
Bad guardians can get wrecked pretty fast though. But it’s hard to be a bad guardian.
Why did the first one get removed? Strange.
PvP Main: Mesmer
Alts: Ranger, Thief, Engineer (I’ve played all professions though)Overpowered:
Warrior (burst damage + heavy armor + plenty of control skills = overpowered)Strong:
Mesmer (clones), Thief (stealth burst damage)Average:
Elementalist, Engineer, GuardianWeak:
Ranger (because of pet damage), Necromancer (a lot of work for very little gain)
I must have stepped into bizarro world, brb as I find my way home from this madness.
Longbow/banner build
I will agree that I think it is extremely difficult for a warrior to take down a mesmer 1v1… extremely.
As a warrior.
I don’t have this issue.

Getting two off in that 10 second window is very easy to accomplish.
However, if you’re a condi build placing the 60% chance on crit to apply bleed would be better due to having no internal CD.
PSA:
Crit sigil’s proc off burn.
Example: Couple Longbow w/ Sigil of Fire and you have yourself an AOE machine due to fire blasts proccing off all F1 burn targets over 10 seconds.
I’m working on a tournament grade rifle build. It is fun.
Longbow viability.
Weapon changes across the board.
Pace yourself, save your best cooldowns for when the enemy lacks their own.
Learn animations and dodge appropriately.
Why weren’t the updates doled out in smaller balance changes over time?
Did 5 pages of updates happen over a course of 3-5 days and thus warranted being pooled together all at once?
A client of mine once said
’We’re stranded out here likes it’s the desert. We would love some water, but giving us a tub of it all at once won’t help us right now. Give us sips so that we’re OK’.
It lends itself well to the current sPvP issue. Dwindling population, less enthusiastic player base, staunch back and forth negativity on the forums.
I firmly believe that things would have been much better off / Arena Net could have kept their good will if things were doled out in small weekly updates of a few changes here or there.
I don’t need a tub of water in a week, I need sips to stay alive right now.

Longbow/Banner build > GS.
#WatchMyBlastCombos
Hello.
Curious as to the time frame of the PvP Blog. There’s been a lot of rumblings around these parts and a little transparency would go a long way.
I may be viewed as short-sighted for this, but I am putting a large amount of weight on this balance patch. I have high hopes for certain things (that I won’t discuss here because I don’t want this to get derailed). If they do not come or if little to no buffing/nerfing/fixing happens, then I may forever lose faith. If little to none of these changes happen while another PvE event change goes in, I may just be forever jaded.
Just curious if I’m the only one putting this much weight on one patch.
I share the same sentiments. Finding my time in the mists more so about standing around and chatting than playing.
Most players that are running glass cannon builds use a combination of Endure Pain/Shield Block/Signet of Stamina in their builds in order to have better survivability.
A run of the mill (not optimized at all) GS+Axe/Shield Build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQNAR3ejgOxu1QuQMxBALjiA68IJmaSfoNA;TsAg0CnoqxUjoGbNuak1s6YMymEA
But, honestly, wait to the 15th.
GS and axes are getting nerfed to the ground, almost guaranteed.
Then they better buff other areas because we’ll be left with basically nothing (tPvP perspective).
Dodging. Well timed dodging makes a whole league of a difference in survivability.
No problemo.
Trust me though, most Warriors want to be playing other builds. But realistically we’d be handicapping ourselves and our team.
You are incorrect to assume this.
^That’s exactly what that means.
I wonder if there are streams of successful Warriors who do not use the wombo combo. kitten got old a long time ago.
Greatsword is our only viable tPvP weapon. Allows us to quickly exit a fight and begin roaming to a new point. Good damage, good mobility.
Hammer gets annihilated due to proliferation of stability and blinds.
Longbow because Longbow
Rifle does good damage but gets killed in 2 seconds if sneezed on.
Axe/Mace good damage and CC, severely lacks in mobility.
I would kill for Hammer to be viable.
Also, as a competitive Smash player. The Wombo Combo was an incredibly hard combination of attacks that had to be set up between two specific characters. It wasn’t viable in a real 2v2 as it was rare to pull off and was marginally successful.
To characterize GS as a Wombo Combo goes against the core of what that statement means (2 players working together with limited success).
Did you try going to Lions Arch and then back? If you did and it didn’t work, I’d put in a ticket.
That means the first one is still going.
Or you have to leave the mists and go back in so you get the reward.
Technically if he plays perfectly then ya he probably doesn’t need it.
But realistically, you need one of the two. Preferably Balanced Stance since it has a considerably shorter CD and stability is way more important.
I love and miss the Quake/UT era of gaming.
So, so much.
IMO: it was the best time in competitive gaming.
A minor change is an understatement.
Ah. To be out of college, living in NY but not in the flooded areas, and right next to a polling center.
The troubles of finding GW2 tPvP players.
That’s actually an extremely good reason considering I live in NY and most of my team is from NY/NJ.
On that note, disregard for 3 more weeks.
Has this past week been a holiday or something?
I’ve seen my 90% sPvP friends list drop from 10-11 people per night running 3 paid tourny teams.
Down to barely one, and only during very specific hours.
HOTM on Dark Haven is extremely close to being barren.
Is there a holiday going on that I’m oblivious to? I’m extremely confused right now….
There’s extreme excess of glory compared to what rewards there are. So learn to accept that fact.
What are you talking about i see eles EVERYWHERE
As of tonight I have re-designed my twitch page.
Please come take a look! Will be streaming a good amount tomorrow.

I’m still tinkering hence why I haven’t written it up yet. But thats the core of it right now.
5/6 Scholar 1/6 Divinity
Knight Amulet / Zerker Rune
GS / Hammer
Sigil of Air / Sig of Bloodlust
If you could target a portal before it activated and kill it. Sure.
If you couldn’t kill it until it was activated, then no. Considering you only need it open for a second.
I hope no one ever takes those videos seriously.
That’s where the weapon swap buffs / effects come into play.
I think the combo idea may take to long to implement, and thus won’t be taken seriously by the developers because of turn around time.
However, this concept has already been implemented for Ele’s. Assuming they coded the profession style in modules/functions it should take considerably less time to implement since the core code is already functional and in-use.
Preface:
This post is in regards to a concept once in a while floated around, but never expanded on. Here’s a little background on me and why I feel that I am a good candidate to propose this design change:
My in-game name is Defektivex. I play a tournament Warrior, and only a Warrior.
I stream daily – so my skills and abilities are widely available for scrutiny (twitch.tv/defektive).
I have spent a lot of time creating well rounded and interesting builds (‘Avalanche’ Hammer-Axe/Mace).
I comment and create threads a lot, with a 90% goal of being constructive and opening a conversation.
Design Issues:
Warriors do not suffer in their damage dealing capabilities. We also have very high HP compared to other professions. Where Warriors fall short is their un-unique skills and utilities.
Professions such as Necros and Mesmers provide interesting group capabilities (AoE Blinds, teleports, boon removal, CC’s and longevity to name a few). However, Warriors provide simply damage and roaming capability within a solo-perspective. Teams thus prefer other Professions simply because they provide more team based utility.
The Proposal:
Elementalists strike me as a incredibly complex and interesting class. Mobile, tanky, with decent damage. They also have fundamentally one of the most interesting mechanics. They can’t change weapons, but they CAN change attunements. In return they also don’t have standard Burst skills.
I would like to take this concept and apply it to a Warrior.
!!!!!Here’s an image mock up!!!!!: http://i.imgur.com/FeS4y.jpg
Changes:
-Remove burst skills (just like Elementalists).
-Remove the change weapon button (just like Elementalists).
-Add a third weapon slot.
-Burst skills now allow the ability to change Weapons (just like Elementalists).
-In order to change weapons, you must have their allotted amount of Adrenaline to change.
-Weapon 1): Your primary weapon, this only requires 1 Bar of Adrenaline to change to.
-Weapon 2): Your secondary weapon, this requires 2 Bars of Adrenaline to change to.
-Weapon 3): Your third weapon, this requires 3 Bars of Adrenaline to change to.
-Each weapon gives an AOE Buff or an area/single target effect when swapped to.
Example: Swapping to a Shield gives protection for 5 seconds.
Example 2: Swapping to a Great Sword gives Fury for 5 Seconds.
How this changes the game:
Warriors, being the ‘Weapon Master’ class can now take full use of their broad range of weapons.
Teams will be inspired to use Warriors because they can be an on the fly tank that buffs their allies as they use their vast range of weapons.
How this creates an interesting class:
This change will provide Warriors with a vast amount of new and interesting builds to try. Suddenly, builds such as Greatsword/Mace-Shield/Longbow are viable. Another example: Shout healing Sword/Sword – Longbow – Mace/Shield becomes viable as a condition dmg Tank.
Conclusion:
I strongly believe this will add flare, flavor and increase the skill cap of Warriors.
Currently, almost all other professions have more skills to use in-combat than Warriors. By making this change Warriors will be on par with other Professions in not only usability, but also available attack choices.
Thank you.

This.
Considering the information is incorrect, the legitimacy of the rest of the post is called into question. From experience, my mobility is quite high, and the root effects that are imposed only serve to make me think about how I want to use something before I use it, instead of mindlessly spamming because the ability does everything for me.
And that’s how I want it.
That doesn’t make any sense.
Like I said, the skills are slow enough that they can be dodged on reaction. The self-root is just adding insult to injury. I can’t even find a reason to justify the self-root on Back Breaker, the KB doesn’t take anyone out of the fight for more than a second and the damage is nothing amazing, either. And Hammer Shock self-rooting when it’s the ONLY gap closer on hammer outside of the burst skill is hilarious. Talk about self-defeating!
I would be okay with self-rooting if and only if the skills were sped up to be less bloody easy to dodge. It’s incredibly embarrassing to have half your skills miss because your opponent doesn’t have the reflexes of a damp squib.
I guess I’ll have to repeat this again.
Back Breaker does not root a Warrior.
Edit: I bolded it this time so maybe you’d read it instead of just replying.
Back Breaker doesn’t root a Warrior.
Tremor doesn’t root a warrior.
(edited by Defektive.7283)
Ofcourse there are rifle warriors attempting to be competitive. But in all my time doing paids i have only seen one rifle warrior. We stomped him first.
What is…. Long.. Bow?
Longbow Banner build. Call it now next OP thing.
Devs state it, that means it must be true… burst damage is to high on some classes. I find thiefs fine b/c they just die faster to me on my guard…. So dunno /shrug
LOOK AT THIS GUY. ALL POWERFUL n STUFF
I’m pretty sure I get both. I believe you can’t have the same item stacked twice. But I wasn’t aware that it’s tied to sigil ‘families’.
Yup thats basically the jist of it.
Ya I was pretty mad that the bulls charge didn’t connect ( kitten ledges). But it’s ok. That probably would have ended the fight or gotten close enough for evis to finish it.
I treat bulls charge like a Warrior from WoW treats intercept. You don’t start with it, but you use it to remove any gap closers an enemy may use.
Here you go:
Defektive vs. Xee: http://www.twitch.tv/defektive/c/1721081
Side note: Twitch just reset almost all my views on my highlights…. x.x wtf
(edited by Defektive.7283)
The only mesmer I’ve had problems with is Xee from Team PZ.
Theres two fights of him vs. me on my twitch page but not clipped down into highlight videos.
It follows the same premise as before, but I would have gotten the kill if he by accident didn’t blink into a small ledge. My bulls charge went into the ledge and he got to walk right through me. I’ll try to do a quick clip.
I hope they never. EVER. Bring MOBA into this game. I absolutely hate MOBA.
And then if they forced it on me in tPvP I’d just flip out and leave. Can’t stand that stuff.
I can’t see them ever forcing MOBA-style on tPvP in GW2. There are to many intricacies to DotA-like games (BLC is a separate entity, and happens to be my favorite MOBA) that you can’t quite replicate in a game like GW2. It would most assuredly be for fun.
And since it’s for fun, you can just not play them. These sorts of extra game modes are the spice that will keep more casual players interested in the game to support the competitive scene if/when it comes to pass. I’d be careful about hating them too hard.
If I could hate them more. I would. Its my least favorite game genre, right next to Nascar racing sims.
